Aloha all. Beautiful hot day in Chicago. Nice celebrating the solstice last night until the storms rolled in. Lots of lightning and wind but no rain. I think the bike my in-laws got the youngest is a tad too big for him. My summer class begins tonight. I'll be looking for fellow 'riders' on the late train 'round 830 pm CST. Wink  Can't believe my Sox have reached .500 - there's no heart in this team. I'm waiting to see if the French melt down in their next World Cup game beginning in 20 minutes or so too.  Will be remembering 'granny' on the 30th with her surgery.

Chief, what did you cut the ribbon on?
Ray, thought of you Sunday when we got to tour five streamlined cars including an ACL diner.

Mornin' boys.  Mostly sunny & 72 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Stopped by the Sheraton downtown to pick up my TCA convention packet, before heading into work.  Walked into the departure room where folks were waiting to be shuttled off on a "Mystery" train ride, to see if I recognized anyone.  Being in uniform, I drew some looks, so I promptly broke the ice announcing that all tours would be escorted by armed police escort...after all, this IS Baltimore.

One more nightwork shift, then on vacation 'til 12th.

Armed police escort is not needed in the South.  We are all armed. Whistling

Morning.  Hot and humid.  Picking garden and then shower.  Got ribbon cutting and luncheon.  Lucy and Finn are at the groomers [an early trip for me].  Glad to see Buckeye has been working hard.  I know my SS is on the way.

Soccer is un-American so how can America win? Wink

Good Morning all

Going to be another hot one.  Getting the camper ready for out outing to Michigan next week.  The kids are excited about camping in the truck camper.  We will bring a new meaning to togetherness.  A stop at Cabella’s is planned on the trip as well as the other stuff mentioned earlier.  Found a nice campground and we will slide the camper out of the truck and go out from there to the different places.

Chief & Jim F – your loved ones are in my thoughts and prayers

May God bless

Jim

Today is an easy day. I want to do some reading and running of trains. time to dust them again. I will relax today. PT went well yesterday. I am achy, but not bad. Three sessions this week.

Dining car is here from Points West. The usual for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Good morning all,

It is stormy in SE Indiana with more rain predicted in Infernodiana today.  Took it easy last night.  As far as the World Cup is concerned, the competition has been very close with some of the better teams not having it as easy as they thought they would.  The US almost has to win Wednesday to advance.  If they "putz" this one, it will be a huge set back for the team.  I had bacon and biscuits on the dining for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL anytime tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Condolences, Jack.  That's a tough way to go.

Hot and humid in Saint Louis (of course) and two more days of dangerous temps predicted.  Good day to be inside!

Prayers for eye surgeries for SJ's wife and for Doug (in the future) and Happy Solstice Day.  Just don't go doing any weird dancing out in the woods tonight, Doug - okay?!  Laugh

Tardis is ready and still have room for banilla, plus RT made cookies - yum!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Sunny and 90's today, with a short downpour at lunch time to make sure nobody got board.

Long day at work.  Noticed that we have a lot of management types visiting from corporate - going to be an interesting week.

Sorry to hear about your friend Jack.

Didn't win the bids I had on e-by 200 series Alco parts.  Oh well, there will be others.  I'm thinking about calling a hobby shop in Michigan that deals a lot in used equipment to see if they might have anything in stock.

All for now.

Greetings from the Jersey Shore: Temp is down to 73, humidity is 78%, Back to 90 Tuesday.

SJ, May Granny's eye surgery be a complete success.

Rich, Jimmy Byrnes was the place to go. Cruisin Asbury was fun, when the cops used to pull my 55 Chevy over for, whoops, I mean to admire my car.Sign - OopsWhistling Seaside, all that I had to do was get near the Boulevard.

I received my Grey Lionel 221 today. It looks better than the pictures and I took the gamble the seller said it was not tested. The gamble paid off and it ran great.

Thoughts and prayers to all in need. Angel

good evening.  Roy, we have been getting similar temps.  They say the heat index this past week during filming was 110 degrees.  Of course we were shooting on a asphault, so it felt even hotter.  Today, the rains came and made for some cooler filming, but still, a number of folks have sun burns.

Did a couple of cases today and then went to the set.  We did a stunt with a car crashing.  Will do a bigger stunt on Thursday as well.  Stunts are great to watch, but they take a lot more set up time and the action comes after a lot of bordom.

As for Father's Day, mine was spent at church, then a quick lunch and back to the church for filming a scene.  I got the typical socks and underwear.  I really don't need anything, but something with flanges on it would be nice!

God Bless,
Dennis

Celebrated the solstice outside with new-bike-riding and barefoot soccer with the youngest. His birthday bike is a tad big and he's scared of it, so I'm back to doing a lot of running alongside. Good exercise.  My eye doc said I got to get that lens replacement too in the next few years, related to all my retina probs of a few years ago. Roy, the IRM sure was fun. When the kids are a tad older, I want to go out there to volunteer. NavyJack, they got that grizzly. I'm so sorry for your friend. Batten down the hatches.. Here comes the t'storms...

Afternoon all!

HOT here! 100 basically and outlook for the week is the same. Weird to have 100 and strong southerly winds (20 mph) - blast furnace effect. No rain in sight and ground is drying out. Trying to keep the house foundation watered and stable. Big oak tree in back of house may have to go. The back yard has subsided 2 inches in last month as tree is sucking all the moisture out of the clay. Watching it daily.

Try to keep outdoor chores late evening or early morning.

Good stories about dads present and past. I have similar stories. Dad was lots easier to deal with after I had moved out. All that friction (e.g. need for independence) was gone.

Chuck - good to hear the PT is almost done. Walking is good. I need to do more of it myself.

Doug - The IRM is a great place and looks like you had some good fun yesterday. I lucked out on getting out of Chicago early last Friday. My business acquaintance waited for the flight we were scheduled for and it got cancelled along with the next flight. He got home Saturday and got to stay at the airport Hilton Friday night.

Hope everyone has a great day today!

Regards, Roy

Morning All !

Had a fantastic Father's Day here!  Was going to work but couldn't get a space.  So that worked out great!  Kay took me out for breakfast, had some really good biscuits and gravey!  Then spent the day with Chris working in the train room, getting ready for the "gathering" tomorrow.  He was a big help, he fixed a bunch of minor things, and used scotch bright on all the G scale track.  We were listening to Johnny Cash, and when Johnny sang "Sunday Morning", Chris asked if I thought my Dad would have liked him.  Man did that ever throw me for a loop!  (My Dad passed 2 years before Chris was born.  And, he had tried to live long enough to see his first grandson, but it didn't work out.  So Chris and I had a lengthy conversation about him, and I pointed out the attributes that Chris had and he would have been proud of.  And shared detail experiences with Chris.

We then went to MIL and FIL's and took a BBQ dinner.  Spent the rest of the evening with them.  It was a good time.  FIL is doing OK, but I'm a little concerned, he may be on the slippery slope.  Hope NOT.

Today just need to make sure everything is still operational, and do the finishing touchup..

Need to get busy, take care Hope everyone has a great day.

Don

SJ.......for her whole life my MIL wore glasses until her cataract surgery (remove cataracts, insert  interocular replacement/corrective lenses) on both eyes about 4 years ago.  For the first time in her life she has perfect vision.  Except for reading, she doesn't wear glasses anymore.  Thumbs UpThumbs UpThumbs Up  My prayers and wishes for good luck to Granny at the eye surgeon appointment this afternoon.

Jack

Same with Town Clerk [and she is just 50].  She has both eyes done and now no contacts.

Morning all.  Hot and humid.  Picked garden early.  Then drove tall wooden stakes by tomato baskets to keep the from turning over.  Now getting ready to go to County Commissioners later.  Mainly sitting and drinking coffee and watching TV.  Resting for a change.  Hope all have a good week.

Later.

Aloha all from a grey Chicago. Had a nice time at the IRM yesterday with the bride and the youngest. Then went to the inlaws for a cook-out.

Rode a Chicago trolley and a Lackawanna car pulled by their Burlington GP.  Fire in the subway yesterday was in the ties. Usually happens on the Elevated.  Jack and SJ, White Castle is just down the street. They deliver. Wink Roy, I also commandeered the remote for a spell: watched Pixar short films, US Open, World Cup and baseball.  Jim, I'm sure you did a great job on the sermons. Mike C, what do you think of the Cup games so far?  Prayers for those like Jack and DJ who were missing dads yesterday.
