Help!!!!! This puppy has grown twice in height in three weeks. He can now jump on our bed and can reach things on the kitchen counter. No wonder Pam is so ill. I will be taking him back with me, They all seem to act better at the lake house. BTW: Burg does not snap at him now. Lets him get in his face and etc. If Finn gets too bad he just lightly growls. Biggest problem with Finn is he "puppy bites". He thinks we people are his puppy brothers and sisters.

RT, congrats to you and Mrs. RT. Our 45th will be in Oct, maybe that's why we both enjoy halloween so much.
This is and will continue to be a crazy week. The better half is hosting the BUNCO ladies on monday evening, of course that means a monumental "honey do list". However these tasks need to be squeezed in between museum runs on wednesday, friday and sunday. Sunday will be the special event with our spouses joining us and turning it into a cook-out & picnic, I'll be flipping burgers with one hand and a CAB-1 in the other. Hopefully I won't get confused and forget which is which.
8N & Jack, The day I was downsized, traffic & warehousing, ranked rite up there with my happiest days. Started building cabinets on my own and really enjoyed it but eventually closed up when I could no longer compete on pricing.
Later Y'all !

Jack! Beer? I'll be there first tonight
Sorry to hear about that railroad bridge, I'd dearly love to ride that train!
BD - glad things are working out for you too! I suspect you will be done before I am, although I do hope to get a few hours in on the basement this weekend. Also need to replace a couple light fixtures upstairs and the garage keypad. Still need to find that as Lowes didn't have any in the store.
Tardis is ready - promises of beer and I have pretzels! Mike's driving, so let's hit it!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good evening everyone. Has been a good day. This is a rather special day for our family. Known as "Family Day" to us, this is the 5th anniversary of when we first held our daughter in China. We took the kids to see the latest Toy Story movie and then to Steak-n-Shake for dinner.
We have had a fair amount of rain these past few days. Yesterday, we had some strong winds that took out some tree limbs. I will have to get out with the chain saw. Also have a limb hanging down near the driveway that I'll have to either loop with a rope and pull down, or get a long pole saw and take it down.
Had another issue with the air conditioning. Now, one of the outside coils went (we have heat pumps). Good news is that it should still be under warranty. Bad news is that it goes out of warranty on July 1st....I have to get the paperwork to the air conditioner folks tomorrow or have to pay the $1000.00 plus to repair.
Well, hope everyone is doing well.God Bless,Dennis

JimmyT.....first, I just gave him your link at the bottom of your posts and suggested he search for "more from" to get some of your others. Then I suggested he do a YouTube search on "American Flyer" and/or further refine with his engine numbers. And of course I told him to check out the CTT Forum and search here. Thanks!

Jack,
What links did you give him? I'll spend some time on YouTube to see what I can find.
RockIsland52 RT......you failed to mention how you celebrated your anniversary/her birthday combo or what you bought her to stay on her good side. Later, gang. Jack

Jack - IN PA, part of which is about 40 miles from VA, it is legal to sell fireworks but you can't shoot them off in PA! They sell mainly to Virginians on the border. We have to get a signed invoice and prove we are from VA to cross back over the border. This prevents us from selling them to PA people.
Is the MA plan to let you shoot them off, or just buy them?
Several of us will take the beer off your hands. We don't want you to get in trouble with the better half! Right LAZ?

Remind me if I ever get up to see you at the cabin to bring my 30-06 then ..... LOL !!! All I'll have to figure out then is which one to shoot ... the poor bear or the " buddy " who left me standing there with wet pants .
Greetings from hazy and partially overcast Taxachusetts,
It has cooled off a bit from yesterday's low to mid 90s temps and putrid humidity, 86 now but back into the 90s for the weekend of the 4th.
MA pols still arguing about legalizing fireworks for sale in MA. so they can generate more sales tax revenue. Now folks just drive over the borderline into NH to buy the fireworks and bring them back. Like everything else here, the only thing these knuckleheads can pass quickly in the state legislature is their pay raises.
Had way too much beer left over from Saturday's extravaganza here. It seems that as many in our crowd get older their beer consumption declines precipitously.. I don't know about you guys, but I always refrigerate beer after purchasing so it doesn't get skunky on me. Keep the temp at an ice cold 35 degrees. Wife would flip out if she ever took the time to see how much beer is in the garage fridge. She thinks she has all kinds of available space in it but never looks. Little does she know. My backup plan should she see all of the beer is to tell her it is a sin to waste.
JimmyT/JimSP.....a friend attended our cookout Saturday. He has had AF from his childhood, packed away for a few decades, but dating back to his first engine, 302 from around 1950. I sent him your link. Do you have any other videos and links you could recommend that might stoke his desire to get back into the game? His initial interest is in postwar AF to about 1960. You should have seen the frown on his wife's face when I was telling him she needed to vacate a room in their house for a layout. You would have thought I suggested he buy a Harley and take up skydiving.
SJ.....prayers on a stellar outcome for Granny's eye surgery tomorrow. Can't wait to hear the havoc she brings down on you with her 20/20 within a week.
Navyjack.......my pc went funky on me about two weeks ago and has been acting up ever since. A friend came over and got things working ok but suspects some photo software I installed is causing the problems. Some days I have to operate in 'safe' mode. We tried a couple of "Reconfigs" back to a previous point in time, works ok for a while, then back to square one. Think I will give the friend a call and tell him I will pay for his services in beer.
Hudson......what few folks here in the USA realize is how much of the coastline up my way is blocked from public view and/or use by the general public, under private ownership. Wife and I took the family to Portugal on a Chevy Chase type summer vacation some years ago. Their layout is simple. The land from the coastal roads to the ocean is public land, in perpetuity. Open to all. Plentiful and free parking.
MikeC.....you seem to be doing ok after the USA elimination from the World Cup this past Saturday.
DougM.....ah yes, the Taste of Chicago, formerly ChicagoFest. Back in the early 80s I caught Frank Sinatra's live show. He flew into O'Hare from Las Vegas. Took a helicopter to Meigs field. Put on a 45 minute show. Then reversed his tracks back to Las Vegas. I was pretty young back then but eschewed the rock acts, figuring he would be worth a look. Glad I did.
Roy.....we need a soaking rain here too. The grass is not looking great. Will have to break out the sprinklers again. Scotts (fertilizer company) has a web site that recommends 1"-1.5" of water once a week, akk at once. It's supposed to promote deeper root growth in the grass as the grass seeks out moisture deeper beneath the surface as the surface soil dries out. If done correctly the grass should be more drought resistant. My neighbors all have irrigation systems and water their lawns every morning!!!! I'd love to see their water bills.
BlackDiamond......good to see you back. Good luck with the layout.
Howdy all. Lucy and I are home for today and tomorrow. Then heading back tomorrow night or Thursday AM. Hot and DRY in Roseyville [had .05 inches of rain last night but lake had .35. Finished deck and screen porch. Passed final this AM. Watering garden as some folks here don't know how. Seems their shrubs and flowers are watered. HUMMMM That is mostly what I have been doing at the lake house. Watering HER flowers and shrubs, Also poor garden pickers. Oh well. Glad to see everyone doing OK. Congrats to Chicago. Now you can own a gun. ABOUT TIME!!!! Everyone keep up the good work you are doing. Pays my SS and that lets me hang out at the lake house more. This puppy [Finn] has grown and grown. He is a monster and only 11 weeks old. Taking him and Lucy back to the lake house. Giving Mom a brak as he has driven her crazy. Into everything. Later.
8ntruck Another looong day at work today - in at 7am home finally at 9:30 pm. My die try out press is being rebuilt, the spare production press is broken, so I'm having to do die development in one of the production presses. Not popular, and very restrictive for windows of time. I've got to be there to squeeze my work in between production runs. Tomorrow looks to be another loooong day too. Frustrating too 'cause I sent the flag up a couple of weeks ago that the spare production press needed work. Apparrently was not important until it impacted production schedules. Does anybody else smell burning cresote here? Another interesting week. The V.P. is coming down with some sort of consultant group in tow. I've run across that consulting group maybe 10 years ago in a different plant. I was unimpressed then.........

8N It certainly is frustrating to try to follow the credo "No surprises, be prepared, anticipate and fix before disaster strikes." Then nothing......except just another fire drill, a "has to get done yesterday" panic. Followed by a retrospective and threatening "How the freak was this allowed to happen?"
Nothing that more hours working won't cure, hours no one has.
.
Brutus,
God Bless ya man, We had some problems to, Lost my job.... Opened a business, and now working 6 days a week 12 hour days, when u run your own business, you put in alot of hours. So needless to say my train building got put on hold to.... Just now got a chance to start working on it again, got it insulatd put up paneling and all the trim work, round the ceiling and windows, all that is left is one door, to finish putting on trim, and my building is complete. Then I can start putting up my train tables. I read somewhere, that if you are working on a room, finish it before you start on train tables, cause u will never finish the room/building so I figured I better adhere to that advice. I am glad you wife is doing ok.... will pray for her. Beacons are turned on!
--Black Diamond-- One thing about a train, it doesnt matter where it's going, You just have to decide to get on... Woo Wooo.....
Good Morning
Sun and 70s today, got the windows open.
No word from the eye surgery place, still don't know what time tomorrow. Very annoying. I had errands planned for this AM. I'm sure they would leave a message but, still, I don't want to miss the call....Have a great day S.J.
Morning all!
Finally getting some rain here. Nearly an inch since last night. Only 5 inches behind on rain now! Supposed to rain on and off all day and into part of tomorrow. The rain is the best kind for this area - gentle and constant soaking. Hard rains here just run off into the storm sewers and help the lakes - but not the lawn and foundation.
Temps have moderated and highs this week are high 80's low 90's. High for week is 95 on Sat!
Conference call meetings all morning today.
Have a great day all!
Aloha all. Just another day in paradise.Took the kids out for ice cream last eve. Or did I want ice cream and just took them with me? . We were celebrating RT's anniversary, that's it! Long day with class tonight. Might visit Taste of Chicago at suppertime. Got a few more CTTs to give away to my conductor friend if he's on my scoot home tonight. He gives them out to kids. Just about done with a five-year backlog. Then we'll start on the OGRs (I do keep a few, but like to pass them on)

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a sunny 65 degrees. Going up tp 80 today with less humidity.
Today is a busy day. I have to run an errand this am and then the usual chores, Maybe, some relaxing this afternoon. PT went well yesterday. I did a lot of walking. Legs are stiff today. Need to loosen them up.
Dining car is here from Points West. Cheerios breakfast.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.
Chuck
Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the low 80s. 8ntruck, I watched a tape of the race. Mark Webber was lucky he did not injure himself or the other guy. Took it easy last night, but did help the "saucy wench" with some of the household stuff. Good day at work as I finished a major project due the 30th. Long boring meeting scheduled this afternoon. I had cereal and english muffins on the dining car this morning before sending it to "Points East". TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Sunny and 80's today.
RI52 - I've had that same discussion with the hourly guys too. Went so far as to offer to trade pay - of course the hours have to go with it. The usual answer is a rather quick NO.
Mike C. - Did you record the F1 race, or was it re-broadcast? I managed to miss it Sunday. Thought it started at noon, which it did, only it was noon EDT. I live where it is CDT, so when I finally got to the TV expecting to see the last half, I found only the driver's interview.
What was the joke about the two campers running from a bear? One stopped to tie his tennis shoe, the other said that won't help you outrun the bear. The first camper replied "no, but it will let me outrun you!"
Long day at work kept me away from my intended 200 series Alco sniping session on ebay. There will be another. All I've got to do is to keep looking.

Tomatoes are turning red thats pretty fast for this climate....S.J.
Good Evening from the Jersey Shore, We finally had thunderstorms around 5 today, cooled it down to 74 but 94% humidity. Up to the 90's tomorrow.
Jack, You are right we avoid the ocean beaches in th esummer. We take the trucks up on the beach in the fall and enjoy it then.
Firehouse tonight. We had a class on technical rescue.
Prayers and thoughts to all in need.
John

PS - congrats Mister and Missus RT!
PPS - Jack, I love my two-wheeler, works great! Archimedes was right, but he forgot the wheels!
Hey BD, how is it going? We had a big family crisis and the basement project was put on hold. Wife had to go through some treatments and hospitalized for a long time, but we are on the other side of it now and things are getting back to normal. Started working on the basement again recently - need to drywall a bathroom and then mud/tape and paint. We'll hire out the floors, I think. How are you doing, man? Running trains?
Got home and found out the outside combination pad for the garage door opener melted down - battery blew up all over the place. Cleaned and put in a new battery, but now it will only trigger door to go down. I heard you can get replacements at Lowes or Home Depot that are universal, so I'll check that out first.
Tardis will be ready so turn on your beacons if you want a ride. The onboard movie tonight is Emperor of the North and Don fixed the popcorn maker for us after someone burned it out making carmel corn
Congrats, RT.
Black Diamond glad to see you. I remember you from about a year ago hope you plan to stick around some more if thats possible
Charlie great pics of bears but as stated hope you can run fast lol
Well not to much happening oh wife says to say thanks and we both say thanks for tomorrow
