I have a question. But first let me say I am serious about this, and don't want to make any enemies over it.
Why adapt from a foreign country, Russia, china, Etc. when so many babies in this country need adoption, like from WV, VA NC and others?
One of our daughters and her husband considered adapting from Romania but wound up adapting two babies from this country. A little more expensive, but they knew the babies history and background.

Back from my meeting on good diets for school kids and exercise for them too. Had to eat a salad instead of fired chicken and pork bar-be-que. Good thing was I was surrounded by 7 pretty ladies. Wifey called and I told her that and she replied, "So what?".
Brent and Susie, CONGRATS!!!!! OOO, that one will have a silver spoon in its mouth.
Look, Timboy is posting on the POT. Glad to see that. Keep on posting as you make great comments and ask good questions. Only post I give stars too is the Sunday Photo Fun.
Was coming home and where the 4 lane narrows down to 2, a guy tried to force his was in where his lane ended. I almost ran him off the highway as he had plenty of warning his lane eneded. Then I saw an Ohio State Univ. decal across his back window and an Ohio State Univ. bracket around his license plate, so remembering my close buddy Buckeye, I let him in.

88 - Big Congrats! Wish I lived closer, man. Give my best to Suzie Q also! I have several friends who adopted from Russa with good results
Doug - YAY! Glad you got it running man!!! Hope Benzilla feels better soon, too!
I read all the posts, but can't keep it straight in my head - too much! Don, sounds like you really are going to town tweaking up the layout man. Those beeps look neat, glad you got them converted over and the system is working better. Good to know about the gg track as that's what I have been stockpiling for my next layout. How is Chris doing?
Jim (GreenProbe) - glad you found your headset - I'll watch for you while I'm online from now on, in between zombie attacks Would be neat to chat with you for a while!
Banilla would be nice, just had a couple MIller Lites and btw I downloaded Trainz Classic 1&2 on the computer and apparently you can download like 60,000 elements including full maps, locos, cars etc and drive the trains with a transformer type control or get in the cab and run them like a simulator with all controls available - very cool and less than $30 so well worth the money. Runs on my laptop, too
Tardis is ready, so let's hit it! Have to get up early for work tomorrow, so can't stay out all night like some of you guys like to do (SJ!)
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good evening all,
A rare late night post to congratulate Brent and Susie-Q on the adoption!!!! I am so happy for both of you and for the children you are bringing to America. I know this has been a long, hard road for you both and I wish you all four of the you the best.
On an unrelated note (almost, but not quite as important). Qualifications are tomorrow and Sunday for "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing" as 37 teams go for 33 spots (with no provisionals, owners points or other distractions to diminish the tension). AJ's team is doing ok, but SFR is having troubles. All time trials will be televised on Versus and also available on the Indycar website.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Brent ..... great .... one of my nephews married a full russian girl about 3 years ago .... sweetest girl imaginable and extremely devoted .... let alone beautiful as heck ! He's in the army and met her in europe .... they live here now .
Late good night. Reclinerized. Mom took Lucy to visit another could have been brother. They played. When she came home, ran and jumped in my lap. Makes Mom mad as she was suppose to be her doggie. Mom thinks this one [a boy] would be hers. Probably not as I am here most of the time and the one who looks after them.
Timboy, don't be shy [don't think you are]. Post some pictures on the pot or on your own thread of that layout. BTW: joke all you want to and you don't have to note it as a joke. We do that all the time. What part of FL are you. I lived over a year in Homestead [during the war [68-69], Army attached to Homestead AFB] and have worked Orlando Bass Pro Shops 20+ times [love that store and its people].
88, former neighbors of ours adopted a Russian boy and 1 1/2 years later went and got his sister. They moved shortly after to bigger house. They told us they took lots of cash and had to do lots of bribes. Now that was over 10 years ago.
Off to bed. Sleep tight.

Wood deck? What kinds of cleaning chemicals do you use? I've got a redwood deck that has not been cleaned in quite a while and looks like a science project, moss, faces North. Any tips you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Buckeye.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 64 degrees. Going up to 76 today with some sunshine. Looks like it rained last night.
Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of chores to do and will be busy most of the day. No train time today.
Dining car is here and we are having Cheerios for breakfast.
Jack... Thompson's makes a good deck cleaner.
Y'all have a great Saturday.
Chuck
Morning to a cloudy and sprinkle day. May have showers. Need to "sidedress" garden plants again. Wifey thinks I should do chores for her and I think "Miss Edna's".
OH NO!!! Shore up the Rebel lines. Another Yankee has join the ranks [Timboy]. Timboy, great looking S gauge layout. Long trestle.
Calling for rain off and on for the next three to four days. A pleasant change from the long dry spell we had.
The gulf oil spill thingy is now getting ridiculous. Met some great folks that run fish camps and charters when I worked Gonzolas LA Cabela's. They were recovering from the hurricane and now this.
Have a good one.
morning guys, it is foggy as all getout here today. wife is making breakfast, but no grits again. am looking forward to getting new issue of ctt maybe it will come in the mail today. got new mth catalog a few days ago and really liked it. thought the crocodile engines and the german pacific were great also the german boxcars(guterwagens) sorry i am german. now if i could only afford them i would be happy, but told the wife, even if i could afford the 900 bucks for a locomotive, i would never pay it. i would rather find an engine i want at two hundred and give seven hundred to people who are hungry. my own personal opinion. welcome timboy hope all youy good guys have a nice weekend. navyjack
Hello everyone. Seems several topics of discussion to tackle, hope I recall them all. Have been real busy with the movie set and finally got home last night shortly after midnight. Bit tired and have plenty to catch up with around the house.
First, Brent, congratulations to you and Susan!!! It is a fantastic journey you are starting and, while there is a lot of added issues we deal with, they are well worth it. Yesterday on set, they had a person who adopted a 11 year old from the Philippines. Each morning, he would wake up and find his son at his bed side telling him "I be good son for you"! He had never had a home with a mom and dad to call his own. I highly suggest getting some reading material to assist in the transition. There are issues such as attachment disorder that adoptive families deal with on some level. Knowing about it and dealing correctly from the beginning is very important.
On a related note: Pat, we adopted our daughter from China for several reasons. One big reason is that in this country, the courts have placed a huge emphasis on re-uniting kids with their biological parent (s), so, in some cases, a woman can say that she is off drugs this week and wants her baby back. The courts in their "wisdom" take the child from the adoptive family to return to a less than ideal situation. When we left China, our daughter was ours....no return, no worries. Another reason, we don't have any issue with someone reaching out to try to be a part of our daughter's life.....selfish perhaps, but it does stop any chance of confusing the child. We are the only parents she has ever known. She knows she is adopted and the reasons that her biological mother had to give her up, but also knows that God had her planned for our family from the beginning.
Navyjack, I may have a little insight to the religion discussion as I was born and raised Catholic and converted to Baptist when I moved to Georgia. I also studied religion in some of my college electives. I know you want your grandchild christened, but remember, it is not your decision. The important thing right now, is that they provide for a foundation to build good moral character. As for you and your wife, pray for the salvation of your grandchild and lead by example. It is not up to us to save, it is up to God.
In regard to Jack's post from several pages back on Fatherhood, the movie we are making deals with this issue. Any man can father a child, but it takes a real man to stand up and be a real Father to a child. I hope the powers that be on the forum forgive this, but here is a link to our project: http://www.courageousthemovie.com/videos.php remember, this is our church that is making this, so the foundation is God.
God Bless,Dennis

Just did mine for the first time in two years. Mine is a pure red cedar deck, not treated lumber.
Three steps:
Start with a power wash carefully so as not to remove wood fibers.
Then, use a deck cleaner to remove weathering and lighten the wood to its original lustre without bleaching it.
Final step is to stain it, transparent, semi-transparent, or solid. One coat is enough, two coats not usually recommended.

Good Morning
Overcast and 70s today, I think. Going to Charlies house later this AM to run trains with him and Kurt, who we seldom hear from anymore. Last nites storms missed us completely so no rain here. Timboy if you are a flyer guy I see no good reason for your Lionel remark, we are not kids anymore. Everybody enjoy your weekend...S.J.
Well .... seems timboy lives right up the road from me ....
Gloomy and looks like the heavy rain is about to start here ... was supposed to have already .... going to move all my train stuff to the room this afternoon ... finally ... had to put the big foot down as they say . Wife went with a daughter in law early ..... seems 2 developments with over 200 yard sales is today ..... I'm trying to throw out and get rid of crap and hope she does'nt bring home a car full .... .... off to the battlefield bad company 2 for some war .... lol .
I respect everyones right to have an opinion, however remarks people sometimes make appear more to stir things up than just opinion. while it may have been funny to you some of us did not see it that way. perhaps changing your approach so that all know your joking would help a lot
Edit: i have not read your blog, you are welcome here by all. Actually I did not take offense, just thought it was oh never mind.
Timboysir james I: Perhaps it is time for a disclaimer on my part. If you were referring to any on-List joke I made, then I will never joke about Lionel on-List again. If you are referring to comments I make in my blog; I am exercising freedom of speech. If anyone finds my blog offensive, I highly recommend you do not go there. End of disclaimer. -Timboy
I have this link .... http://bigbadtimboy.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html .... if you think we're all dorky idiots for likeing lionel or 3 rail trains ..... why do you come here ? Kung foo master .....
Wait a minute. Now I can cut you all down and its OK. The guy is making jokes and trying to be a part of "us". Now I can partially understand as he is new and you do not know him as well as others here. Lets settle down and all be buddies. I invited him to make jokes and not have to put "this is a joke". I'm glad we have a new person drinking coffee with us. Bet a month from now you all will be joking and never think otherwise.
My first train was an American Flyer and I still have fond memories of it .... in fact if I could remember which engine it was I'd buy another today .... but I was only 8 years old then. I never rant insults about any other person's choice and never will .... anywhere ! Yea chief we kid each other but we DO NOT use that terminology and hope the pot never lowers itself into doing so . Just my opinion .. but I hope things stay civil and friendly as they have been . Of course if you and timboy want to say such things to each other ... fine with me .... just let me out of them . I took that " minute " and responded ....
Before feelings get hurt and good people shy away from here, some settling down needs to happen. Timboy, welcome to the 'Pot'. A good number of folks here enjoy O-gauge trains and several do some great things with S gauge/Flyer. I know that the rivalry has gone on for longer than many here have been alive. However, in the not too distant past, some real struggles have transpired between different factions (ie: Lionel vs. MTH to name one). Even if someone is just kidding, we need to be mindful of differing opinions and not become inflammatory. It is a great place to come and visit, let's keep it so.
God Bless,
dennis
