Sunny and 50's today.  Thunderstorm rolled through late in the afternoon.

Got the weed & feed down, spaded the veggie patch, hung a little drywall, shopped for ceramic floor tile, and replaced the batteries in the protable phone.  Stopped by the LHS too.  His Lionel catalogs have not arrived yet.  Probably Tuesday next week.

Going to try to stay up late and watch the F1 race tonight.

Laz - your wife is only talking about curtains?  I've got a bathroom project I'm still working through the details on, and my wife is talking about rebuilding the deck, rebuilding the front porch, adding another bathroom and a major landscape rework.  I just give her 'the look'.

All for now.

Good evening everyone, it has been a great day.  Even with wife working, the kids and I had a lot of fun.  We got up and played "Legos" with the kids.  Then, after breakfast, we headed out to Home Depot.  They were having some kind of 'event', and had a DJ, popcorn, hot dogs, bottles of water, flowers for the kids to plant and keep along with several crafts for them to make.  I finished my shopping in about 20 minutes and we stayed for 3 hours doing all the other stuff.  Kids had a blast, daughter even had her face painted.  Then, we came home, kids took turns 'helping' me on the tractor cutting the rest of the yard.  We planted a peach tree that we bought today also.  Then, we burned a bunch of tree limbs and some pine straw.  Finished working, make dinner for kids and bride as she came home just as I was giving kids their baths and now it is time for bed.  We are all tired, but still, it was a good day.

Bride volunteered to work tomorrow as they are short handed with a full patient load.  She was supposed to do the "we care" for church tomorrow, but now that falls to me.  Hopefully, they will have a extra that can handle that as the director of media called me tonight and needs me to do lights for the service.

Rich, Tifton is about 20-30 minutes away from me.  Next time, if you have spare time, I will buy you lunch.  I will have to give you info to contact when the chance comes again.

Regarding muscle cars, I didn't have a real one.  Did some modifications to a Monte Carlo I had back in the 80s, but otherwise, I was fairly subdued.  Father had a 64 Chevelle with the 327 short block.  Had a switch next to the shifter to turn out the rear lights when they would drag race at night.  He also had a 58 Olds with a bored out engine that he used to race out on Long Island and in English town, NJ.

Time for bed.  I hope that everyone is having a great weekend.
God Bless,
Dennis

Good night all.  Listen to Prairie Home Companion and then Back Porch Music on NPR.  Think I dozed off around 8 PM and woke up a few minutes ago.  Coffee maker ready and now to bed.

Enjoyed the reactions to the "Yankee Mom".  It could have been a Southern one but there was no doubt in this one.  Made me laugh as it was such a strong accent.  Said to self, "Self, can't wait to tease my CTT buddies."

Sleep tight.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s.  Neighbor mowed their yard today.  Must not have anything better to do.  Took wife to see "Wizard of Oz" while symphony played the music.  She enjoyed it.  Early birthday/Mother's Day gift.  Also got to see Butler win while we were eating at the restaurant before the show.  Did go to Train Express earlier in the day to get some standard gauge straight track I needed.  Graham and Vitor are starting 16th and 17th tomorrow.  Princess is 21st.  Will Power is on pole.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast this morning.  TBIL anytime.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Had some good fortune today.  (The OT worked out well.)  In addition both my laptop and Chirs's have developed LCD problems.  Talked with a friend and he said he would check them out on EBay.  As it turns out 3rd party LCDs are available.  One of the guys at the computer show , refurbbishes them, then sells them.  He does very well  He offered to replace both LCD for less than $150.  All quotes we have received is in the $450 to $800 range.  Great NEWs.  !!!

On the train front, have a visitor coming over tomorrow afternoon.  He previously ran HO, and has never seen anything in Command Control.  Got the room cleaned up, checked out  the engines, (Maintenance), and cleaned all the track.  Wow, is everything working well!  After I show him the "stuff", then have him run a "sequence" I have documented.  It takes a Pass train, and runs a route between two stations, and then reverses and repeats the run backwards.  Then the train is put on the siding for daily maintenance.  The sequence requires quite a bit of switching and takes about 20 minutes to run.  After he "finishes" I will show him how it is SUPPOSED to be done.  I have recorded a Session for the same seqence, and will run it.  Overall I believe it will knock his socks off!  Should be a lot of fun.

Sure had a change in weather today!  Was in the mid 80's, and very brisk Santa Ana winds.  ( Westerly blowing, up to 40/60 mph.  Warm air coming from the desert.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Pretty good weather tonight, some winds, but so far below limits. Spent some time taking apart the old wiring from a rack we are readying for the VLBI run and scavaging the components. This thing dates from the early 70's when they were running the Crustal Dynamics Project, basically using radio telescopes to chart the motion of the earth's plates. Low and behold, I found some diodes that I can use in my battery eliminator. Seems interesting that something from the 70's helps rebuild something from the 50's in the 21st Century, for a geologist who works at a radio telescope. Go figure.

Don and Wes - great stories!

Chief - discussed w/ my co-worker and friend John (gun collector) the merits of your .17 caliber as I'd never heard of the round before. Very interesting.

On the hod rod front I've driven a few, but not owned one. I'd did have a 75 Cadillac w/ the 500. A heavy car (over 5000 lbs), but I still remember the first time I stepped on the gas after I rebuilt the carb and replaced the distributor (the weights were sticking). Wow.

Think I might clean and grease the Amtrak PA tonight and set up the loop in the shop again. Will try some more snowshoeing in the morning.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 44 degrees. Going to rain today. Up to 54.

Today is an easy day. The usual chores, and then, relax. I want to watch the Martinsville Nascar race from the train room. Need to run trains.

Pat..... Took your advice and watched the Truck race yesterday. It was good. I'm glad I did.

Dining car is here for the usual breakfast.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Aloha all from a grey Crystal Lake where the youngest is going to Brunch with the Bunny with his younger cousins. He figures it's not the real Bunny who is probably busy with eggs these days but we've already worked out what to talk about with other little ones.  I've been part of some wild egg hunts - with parents of kids with strong NY accents ;).

John, I know you're paid for it, but thanks for all the tough work you've done restoring those damp parts of NJ.

Jim, looking forward to the trolley shots.

Bob, that's great that you found something you can cannibalize and actually use.

Hope I can see the truck race. Off to church. Have a good day all.

Any advice on overseeding a lawn? Not sure I can put down to the spring crabgrass killer and a bag of seed - I think one stops the other.

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Cold and damp here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Not too sure they will get an official race in Martinsville today.  Speaking of things NASCAR: McDonalds just signed as a sponsor of McMurray (Daytona Champ)...could be big.

Wifey and I went to Harrisburg (again) for a log home seminar Zzz.  Stopped by the Rockville Bridge for a few hours (again), then Prime Rib at Dukes (again).  It was nice just spending time with her all day...kinda like a birthday. Evil

Speaking of... Happy B-Day Spank.

Smilewhen i was on active duty in long beach, i bought a 67 camaro rs from a chief who was in the coast guard.  it was an ugly green color and was all dented up.  i think i paid a few hundred dollars for it. a technical school took on the car as a class project and for the cost of paint and parts, they cherried out the car and it was a canary yellow with a black top.  i bought big tires and baby moon hub caps.  it had a 327 engine and it was the fastest car in fontana ca at that time. wish i still had it.  hearing you guys talk about your muscle cars reminded me of my one taste of one.

Good morning All

Cloudy with rain possible, going to 50.

Doug M. crabgrass killer now and then seed in about two weeks. Plenty of time for grass seed to take. ..S.J.

Humm, and we are mowing grass. Confused

Bob, there are two rounds in .17 now.  The one I have [.17 HMR] is most popular and it is the .17 grain bullet [can now get a .20 grain bullet] with the polymer tip [Hornady calls it a V Max] on a "necked down" .22 Mag. cartridge.  Hot, flat and fast.  Then later there came a .17 on a "necked down" .22 long rifle cartridge.  Not the same performance.  I believe it comes mainly in a pistol.  The only thing I do not like about it is, shooting larger animals at long range, you hit body mass and it will knock down but not kill instantly.  Closer range and head shots, its over.  This is why I just bought a .243.  The fox I shot the other night was shot body mass due to no light conditions.  Did not kill him immediately.  Do not like that.

Back from Sunday School.  Got two new engines I still have not set up in Legacy adn picked up another Lionel Legacy NS Dash 9 dummy [the one with lights, smoke and couplers].   Maybe I will get time to do that today.  Also got a K-Line [original] Alleghany with cruise coming by UPS.  New in the box.  Got it off of OGR at a steal.  Hope it arrives tomorrow.

Off with wifey to run some errands [her shopping the sales at Walgreens and etc].  Later.

Hmmm, sounds like a possible "kitbash" idea for Lionel's barber shop and a sound clip from "Grand Torino". Whistling

Mornin' All.

Looks like it wil be a bit warm today, hope the winds aren't as strong today as yesterday. Think the crud mite be finally starting to let go.

Did a quich scan of the new catalog. My only comment is thank goodness for E-Bay, they are all pricing me and probably a lot of others out of the market.

Have to finish up a few more projects for the Easter Bunny Train for Good Friday at the museum. Wonder what a Challenger would look like with Bunny Ears ? Clown

Went for a short outing on the snowshoes this morning. It was amazing how quiet it was.

Chief - thanks for the info on the .17, it's seems an interesting round. I've always liked .22s so I may have to look into that some day.

I made my first attempt at the SPF. The detail is a little crude, but I hope you guys like it.

Off to grab a few hours.

Good morning and a blessed Palm Sunday to you all.

Chief, glad to hear you like Prairie Home Companion. I miss some of the good pickers he has had in the past like Johnny Gimble and Chet Atkins etc.  I think Chet has passed on but don't know about Johnny.

What kind of problems are caused by the foxes except stealing chickens etc?  I have that Burl Ives tape with the song about the fox on it.  You know the one about stealing the gray goose.  Forgot the real name of the song. "John, John, the gray goose is gone and the fox is on the town oh" was one of the lines.  My grandma used to sing that song to us.

Dbaker,  I haven't used that recording feature on DCS for a while.  Sounds like fun.  Will it record more than one train in the same operating session?  I'll have to try it again.  Think of the possibilites if you used that with an AIU as well  for thowing switches and lining up routes etc.

Happy birthday Spanky

Laz, nice story about the wedding

Got to get ready for church,

Later,

Ray

I'll check it out. They haven't started the NASCAR race yet (rain delay). If races overlap, the remote will get a work out.

Good Afternoon everyone.  Home from church and lunch.  I was originally not supposed to do anything but attend church, but, wife had gotten called to work today and she was suppose to do the child care at church.  Then, wife wanted me to cover for her with the child care.  Got a call last night that I needed to do the lights...been quite some time for me to do that, but the guy who was scheduled was called to deploy to mid east.

I had bid on a couple of engines for the bay of E, but have been outbid, so I guess I will hold onto my money.  Going to take a nap before heading back to church tonight.  Hope each of you is blessed in this lead up to Easter.

                ***WARNING***

URGENT notice on possible financial and savings depletion scheme!

I recently escorted the female members of my immediate family to the local center of commerce.  There, I was led into an establishment, that after 5 minutes, the astute male realizes that it was designed so diabolically to dwindle one's alotment of potential YORK funds...

It's call the BUILD-A-BEAR store.

Females under 18 years of age (and at least one 40-something) lose every vestage of self control, as they are hand-led by nurturing staff, who cater to every need that a stuffed piece of fur could want.  And then these females are turned into frothy, doe-eyed, credit-card grabbing zombies.  This retailer has everything covered, even a slick little animal carton to wave past other female targets on the way to the parking lot.

Got to admire the genius though.  These scoundrels should be tapped to turn the US economy around.

AGAIN, AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT AT ALL COSTS PRIOR TO APRIL 22-24.

That is all.

Partly cloudy and in the 50's today.

Went bathtub shopping.  Found one we like, but won't be in stock until later in the week.

Got sniped last night on the beater Alco 200 series I had a bid in on.  Impressive job too - landed the bid with about 2 seconds left.  There will be others.

GO GREEN  - Michigan State advanced to the final four.

Second race of the F1 season still shows promise of an interesting season - McClaren wins, Renualt 2nd and Ferrari 3rd.  Nobody seems to be dominating, though the rain might have had something to do with it.

All for now.

Evening all!

Son's soccer team lost one yesterday to the team that took the championship last season (his team came in second - beat out by a yellow card). They won their game this afternoon. My son scored one goal (on a penalty kick to boot!) and assisted on another.

Getting ready to leave for dinner at the local Mexican food joint. Daughter invited us to join her and her friends (so we can pay of course).

Hope everyone has a great evening and a great day tomorrow!

Evening all.  Ran errands all afternoon.  Wind blowing real hard!!!  One county up from us is under tornado warning.  We are under a watch.  No rain yet.  Was suppose to rain by noon.  Just been real cloudy and windy.

Got two of the engines in Leagcy.  Wifey called and had to go to her Mom's and pick her up.  SIL and her had gone shopping and she went back to her Mom's from the mall.

Popcorn time so may not get the other engine loaded.

Have a good night's sleep.
