Good Morning All

That white car was a police car..They both parked on the the tracks.??????I have no idea why, as was not necessary.

Sunny 32 with frost this morning, going to 60. Breakfast was egg, and sausage gravy over toast. A trip to Kroger is my exciting morning. Have a great hump day..S.J.

Sir J...

It's called tunnel vision

The inability to see the WHOLE picture or incident scene with disreguard to the areas of life and property safety....

The cops & the firefighters were both guilty of that and I'm sure the driver of that $750,000 ladder truck got the extreme dressing down.

Morning all,

Cloudy here and rain predicted this afternoon and into tomorrow morning. 60's/70's today.

Meetings all day Grumpy today. No time to devise spark plug solutions.

Got a deal nailed on a replacement car for my daughter. Got a 2010 to replace the 2009 and only spent an extra $240 over the insurance settlement.

I enjoy your comments as a whole. I to have problems when accessing some sites, it doesn't make them crap it could be the programs I have or a number of things.

A few here will make there post in the notebook or another area on the computer then copy it and put it in a reply that way should it disappear it they have a way to redo it just an idea.

Ray, I believe Charles Ro has the 18" circus advertisement car for $89.95.  Perhaps you can either get it through them, or use it to negotiate the price with the local place.

Was an incredibly long day.  I have worked longer hours many times, but the issues were excessive.  I was not able to make the meeting, but was able to have a nurse make contact and give some information.  Funny thing is, I had the easier case.  Guy doing the other case got slammed.  Just a matter of who is on call when the referral comes in.

RT, not to worry, I was safe.  Actually had fun with the whole thing.  One caveat is that the battery was run down a little as I had been doing a number of test starts, etc. prior to the spark fun.  I also didn't put it on charge so long as it wasn't too low to cause a low voltage issue to the starter.

I missed the family when I got home, they were already on the road to violin practice.  I really enjoy going and having a family experience with it.  I guess that is one of the things that we sacrifice with the work we do.

Hope everyone has a great night.
God Bless,
Dennis

Rt you are right on. This site is NOT crap. You and others will remember a few month ago when I was very crudely taken to task on a number of items "a certain person" wrongly assumed to be true. This took place in a series of emails between a group of Coffee Pot members outside this thread. As the Chief says - Ignore, Ignore, Ignore. And I delete the email notices from this "certain person" with out reading them.

Dennis, thanks for the tip.  I think Justrains might have it too.  The other circus cars I have are no where near as authentic as these  K Line cars but might be OK.  I have a 5 car set of extruded aluminum cars that were given to me by a dear friend who was an actual circus performer himself at one time.  We both share an interest in trains associated with the circus.  My only problem is space.  I just don't have the room to display all my stuff at once either on shelves or on the layout.  I'm starting to put stufff back in their boxes.  I'm grateful for the stuff I have.  I just don't want to over do it.  I think we have all heard that one before.  Anyway, happy railroading all.

Good evening all,

It is a cloudy but mild day in SE Indiana.  I took a sick day as a cold brewed up on me last night.  Glad I took the day off.  Some events at work helped me decide as well.  Six more work days....  Did give me time to properly peruse the latest CTT.  Very good issue.  Also downloading latest MTH Tinplate Catalog.  So far nothing trips my switch.  Did watch "Lost" last night.  Good episode, reminded me of the first season.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast this morning.  TBIL any time.  Dennis, I am glad you were not hurt any worse.  When that discussion started, I thought you seriously were not going to try that approach.  Next time I will be more vocal in my opinions.....  As far as the differences in opinions around here, I am reminded of the phrase by Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along.....?"  One of our greatest assets here is our ability to speak freely and civilly.  The "powers that be" have rarely yanked our chain and I hope it continues to be that way.  Regarding the recent events in Washington, we have the means and the ability to change what we do not like.  It is called a ballot box.  Also, while on the soapbox, I did not vote for our current President, but he is still my President, just as he is the President for all Americans, and while I respect and defend the right of anybody to criticize any and all of his policies, he is still deserving of the respect due the office.  End of rant.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Ray,

I hear you on being out of space.  One good side effect of that though was that it decreased impulse buys for me.  Now, I only buy things that I really want.  I never thought I'd say this, but I think that I've got too much.

Mike,

I really liked last night's episode as well.  The throwback to the first season is way overdue IMHO.  It was my favorite before this season.

I went to speak to the instructor today, and I feel better now.  I also got help with my project, so that took away some stress.  I just want to graduate, get a job, and get a Mustang GT.Big Smile  I am thinking about thinning the collection to get some money to look for a first gen Probe.  I don't want to sell it all, just those "why did I buy this?" pieces.  There was an 89 LX with only 22,000 miles in OH on ebay, but the listing ended.Sigh

Ray, I like Justrains and perhaps you will find it there cheaper or at least at the same price.  I can certainly appreciate your dilemma with lack of space for more trains.  (Wife won't let me put shelves in our bedroomSigh

Mike, I knew what I was doing...just having some fun with it.  I rarely get in over my head on these projects.  With regard to the discourse here, I could have elaborated on my comment, but it wouldn't change anything and could bring down the friendly discussions shared by most of us here.  I have no problem with engaging in topical discussions in which opinion is freely shared, but all too often, people's motives are called into question and it quickly denigrates into name calling.  This is NOT the place for that.

Made a pizza for wife and I tonight.  Chicken, with tomato and spinach...yum!  Kids of course wouldn't touch it, but we did a number on it.  Would like to have a good desert, but still trying to watch what I eat.  I was actually amazed at how much energy I had when on the Daniel Diet/Fast.  Will do it again in a modified form.

Chief, I have had a lot of fun things that I have been blessed to do, Few rise to the level of your trip.  I have friends in high places in the military and often get the chance to see some great stuff, but even when I was in the AF, I never got to get airborne in a tanker....that looks great!

I was hoping to get some more of the yard work done, but that was not to be.  Perhaps tomorrow.  Also need to get some weed and feed spread.  Why is it that weeds always seem to flourish under any condition, yet plants you want to grow have a struggle?  I guess it is just another of life's mysteries.

Dennis

Cloudy, 50's and drizzle here.

I find that I'm getting a little more picky lately about my train purchases.  Only looknig for a few pieces at a price that I want to pay.  It takes some dicipline to put a bid in on e-bay and let it ride - not to get caught up in the bidding frenzy.  Even with this approach, I've probably doubled the size of my collection since I've gotten back into trains 4 or 5 years ago.

Trains are therapy, aren't they?  Does that mean we could use them as some sort of deduction on the income tax?

Dennis - a long time ago, I used a similar method - inavertanatly - to tell when the points opened on a small block Chevy.  I had the coil wire pulled off of the coil, and was using the ignition key to bump the engine to TDC.  Only thing I forgot to do was to turn the key to the 'OFF' position.  When I turned the distributor, the points opened, and fired the coil.  The only problem was that my hand was resting on top of the high voltage terminal of the coil.  This was a double whammy too.  You know how the front edge of a 1957 Chevy hood kind of hangs down at head level - whacked the back of my head on the hood as part of the reflex action from the shot from the coil.

All for now.

We're due for rain - don't know how much, but I think through or well into tomorrow.  A friend/co-worker's mom died, so I have a funeral to attend on Friday.  Tomorrow is either Chinese or Pizza lunch day with my "work wife" Fran.  She and her hubby, my friend Gary, have a 20 plus year old son and he is going to try and go into the army in a few weeks - wishing him (and them) luck on this.  He's a smart kid, but really bad at taking tests.  Lots of meetings at work today, so very little work got done - guess I'll have to work twice as hard tomorrow!

Prayers for RT and fo!r all of us and our friends and loved ones here on the coffee pot.

Tardis is ready.  Pat, you can drive tonight if you feel like it?

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Back on the hill after a week off. Was happy to see the windbird still working just fine. Thanks for the comments guys. It was a long project but I'm happy w/ the results.

SJ - sorry to hear of your aunts passing, prayers for her and the family

RT - thoughts and prayers for your wife.

8N - LBT stands for Large Binocular Telescope (two 8.4 meter mirrors in the same mounting). They will be doing interferometry w/ the two mirrors, but basically combining the optical beams. The Long Baseline Interferometry that you heard about is when two telescopes in different places take data at the same time. This gives you a dish a that baseline length (can be thousands of miles) and high angular resolution. With other radio telescopes in Hawaii, we hold the record for the highest frequency and highest angular resolution work yet done. We can effectively resolve the structure of the black hole at the center of the galaxy, proving it's existence. We will again be doing this work w/ other telescopes in Hawaii and Calif. in just a week and are setting up now.

Roy - glad to hear your daughter was ok and that you got a good deal on a replacement car. My nephew just started driving and just sent him and email about some repairs it needs, so I keeping him in my thoughts and prayers too.

Doug M. - good thing I wasn't drinking coffee when I read your Bismarck quote:)

DJ - glad to hear your tire experience wasn't much more exciting. Is it a Monte Carlo SS?

Well brought up an ore car and caboose I just got w/ me. The caboose was a whopping $2. The ore car is one of the TTOS/Gadsden Pacific from one of the mines I worked at. Also brought the Amtrak Alco PA to clean and grease (it's new but 15 years old) and the Japanese tinplate loco from my grandfather. May try some more snowshoeing this week w/ the new poles.

Morning all.  Yes, I am up toooooo early.  These crazy Human Services Board members want to meet at 7:30 AM.   Get there at 7 AM for a free breakfast so that helps.  Most are NOT retired so they have to get to work.  Well, some are Dr's and we know they never work and make big $$$$. Whistling  Lucy and I may head to the lake house later.  Take the fertilizer spreader for the back of the JD and do the lawn there [so I can Mow and mow this summer].  Showers tomorrow.  That is good as I have cabbage and onions planted.  Sowed lettuce, spinich, carrots and raddishes.

SJ and RT, prayers for your families.

Chat later.  All have a great day. [I smell bacon and sausages cooking in Raleigh Dinner]

Morning all....right Chief!  Case was cancelled for this morning, so I will head in shortly.  If I am not going to be there prior to shift change, I may as well wait for a little while so nurses can get a good idea of what is going on with the patients before I do rounds.  No sense asking questions if they have not had time to look into things....otherwise, I spend a lot of time standing around while they look it up.

Today may actually work out as far as getting some work done around here.  It will be nice to get into the train room.  8N, yeah, the mechanic catcher on those old cars....When I worked with my Dad, he would get some of the older cars in.  We had a large inventory of generators and magneto equipment.

Hope to check in later.  Seems I won another item I don't really need from one of the auctions.  Got a good price, so it's all good.

God Bless,
Dennis

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and mild in SE Indiana with rain forecast.  Slept well last night.  Drove to work today.  I did pick a good day yesterday to take off as the e-mails were flying all over the place.  Fortunately most of the comments were over my head and so there was very little collateral damage.  I had the regular fare on the dining car.  TBIL anytime tonight and I could probably use some Old Mils (for medicinal purposes only).  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,
