Well stated Roy.  That 500M that they are taking away 'saving' from medicare they are also saying that it is 'saving' as a down payment to the new plan...double dipping.  Kind of like trying to say that you have $50,000.00 in the bank to use as collateral on a loan in which you will be putting that $50K as down payment on a business...just doesn't work that way.

The AG's of 30+ states are planning on bringing this before the courts as it violates the 9th and 10th ammendments.  But those in DC don't care about the law, or the will of the people.  If the rules won't let them do what they want, they will just ignor them.  This, more than the current economy will have a direct impact on ours, and all hobbies.Disapprove

Roy, You just need to join one of the protected unions and you won't be paying that "cadillac" policy tax til 2018. This is just their first step to a "single payer" system. Grumpy

Communism...Constitutional Crisis...Disintegration of our rights... Oh my!

You guys need to all take a deep breath and chill out a little bit. Ironically, those very same fears were voiced when Social Security and Medicare were first proposed.

Went to Sainsbugs with SWMBO for breakfast AM, got four double, no, triple chocolate chip cookies. Just scoffed the last two as I was catching up on the pot. Sugar will be through the roof tomorrow.

Just heard a police siren, they've collected an oriental nosh up so they'll be resting. Flying tonight Brutus, there's a clear sky and a moderate nor'-westerly blowing across Stockport which will keep the blue bottles grounded.

SIL had a hip replaced Tuesday, tonight he's in the local battle cruiser getting aneasthatised .

It's our budget day Wednesday, so I'm expecting the swine to put three pence a pint on the cost of living and he's also going to screw we motorists, (You should complain) our gas will then be EIGHT DOLLARS A GALLON!!!

UK pensioners got an increase of £1.70 a week, so just to take away any impression that the state may have been generous they shoved £2.40 a week on to our rent..

Life gets tedious dont it?

Good afternoon everybody. Real crappy weather here in Philly. Ran on and off all day. Had to work  in it to. Did some tactical entries at the shooting house and got some trigger time. Plan on working on the layout since we can't go outside. Can't complain it was 70 and sunny all last week.

OT,

Thanks for the info on the diner.  I remember seeing the Broadway diner at the LHS when it came out, and I deeply regret not picking that up.  It looks way better than the LTI pile of plastic crap that I have from 1995.

Fife,

Admire Flyer from a safe distance?  Good luck with that.Wink  I said the same thing at one point...

Pat,

        Increase to 10.

Not having a good day here after getting the test back.  The class average was 54.9% and the instructor blamed all of us (so what else is new).

Ugh - if that's the average there's a mismatch between student presumptions / prep and the course.  Blaming students - unless the work wasn't done - is such a cop-out.

So true -- I barely remember my college days but what I do recall is that the worst professors (mostly in the education dept.) provided the worst exams, extremely subjective.  They were safe in the college of education, would have been eaten alive in a public school.  Now graduate school was another matter, loved every course and instructor---sure surprised me and especially my parents Big Smile

Doug is right, many places to hold this argument and this is not one of them.  We can all voice our opinion come November!

Doug is also right about the course.  Seems the dean may need a talking to.

I have been working on the tractor this afternoon.  She just won't turn over.  Have fuel to the carburetor and I changed the spark plugs, but it could still be lack of spark.  I will have to get further into it.  Had to stop for a meeting we have tonight on the movie.  Hope it does not go too long as I have an early case in the morning.  Already set up, so we are ahead of the game.

Been doing some reading on the Legacy system as I want to get some trains running.  Just a matter of sitting with it and spend some time on the trains.

Well, hope it is a good night for everyone.

Dennis - I can help you here. Grab one of the spark plug wires in one hand and put the other hand on the engine block. Have your wife turn over the engine a couple of times while you count the number of revolutions of the fly wheel. If you get past one and you are still holding the spark plug wire and the engine block you have a coil/distributor spark problem.

Regards, Roy

Pat, you’re not including some of your cows in that total are you, because I thought I detected a distinct male bovine aroma coming from your posts. Smile,Wink, & Grin

But seriously, while reasonable individuals can debate and disagree on the substantive aspects of this complex issue, all hope for an intelligent discussion quickly disappears when people attach inflammatory labels like Communism and Disintegration of our rights to their opponents’ position.

By the way, here are the only two numbers that really matter 219 – 212.

Doug and Jon,

I've had this instructor several times for different classes, and he has done this before.  I checked my grade, and after the test I've got 133 of the total 195 points, so I am not hopeless yet.  I am going to talk with him Wednesday as this is the last class that I have get through to get my degree.  I was too upset to go talk to him today.

Dennis,

If I can't get anywhere when I talk to him, you can bet I'll go to the dean.  Just to be clear, I am not looking for a handout.  I just want some understanding.

If I counted the cows vote the total would be 60 right to your 1 left.Whistling

By the way, 219-212  came about because the administration was able to through our money out there and buy votes. We all will pay for that.Thumbs Down

Some people need to look in the mirror. It was they who caused the discord with their irresponsible rhetoric. Calling yesterday's vote Communism just makes them look foolish. No one on this forum has a free pass to make outrageous statements and then expect not to be challenged on them.

Okay we have had our say I suggest its time to call a truce on the forum as this is what can shut a thread down and we don't want that do we. It shouldn't of been started here to begin with so lets just cool it a lot not happy with it, theres better places to discus it.

edw, You never judge a book by it's cover but you can always judge an inidividual by their friends & associates. Take a good long look at his advisers & czars, all seem to have communist or marxist leanings and at the very least dedicated progressives. Hmm, but aren't they all close to being the same. Funny, I don't seem to recall any conservatives amongst the bunch.

Call it what you may but it boils down to plain ol "redistribution of wealth" and anybody that says there is no need for some form of healthcare reform is wrong. But to jeopardize the best healthcare in the world is asinine. If it were such a good  piece of legislation why did it require bribery and arm twisting when the dems had a super majority in both houses in both the original and the reconciliation bills. Oh that's right, Mass elected a republican to replace the late Ted K.

Jim,
The diner was made by K-Line by Lionel. I'm hoping to get some pics posted this Sunday, but that is going to depend on how nice the weather stays... if it stays nice no chance of pics as I'll be hanging siding.
