Aloha from a sunny and cool Chicago where it is supposed to snow tonight. Ah March. Looks like a good week for everyone and as Laz noted, TGIF. Hope to get a haircut at the local barber school today. Hanging out in the waiting room is priceless.  Bob, wind bird looks great!

Morning.  Off to pickup the new trailer with 2" ball hitch from welders.  I should buy me a welder as I can weld.  Then garden work to get cabbage, lettuce, carrots and onions in.  Then ribbon cutting and off to the lake house.

Bob, what is that white stuff outside? Tongue

Banks, peletized lime like you use on youor lawn.  Comes out of the fertilizer distributor better [pull behind JD].  BTW: my PH meter says I am a little alkiline.  No lime next year. Thumbs Up

OT, taking the wifey to the mountains.  Don't forget the "blue pills". ShockWhistling

Hope Jack has dried out.

Got to send Hudson an email and make sure he is OK. [no word lately]

Later.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s.  Did weights and some outdoor walking last night at the YMCA.  Played some card games with the family.  Had a two hour training session at work today.  Not too awful.  Old department is still trying to make life H--- for me.  I cannot understand why they cannot let it go.  This is beyond ridiculous.  What part of "NO" do they not understand?  Two more weeks....

I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast as it rolled in from "Points East".  TBIL anytime and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

DJSpanky

Mornin' guys!

Off to NJ after work - taking the SS along as it needs to fail inspection, then get parked for 2-3 months until my knee allows me to get back into it.  Was fun to drive it into work this AM, however I took it easy as it badly needs new tires.  Can't beat that feeling of a rear-wheel-drive V8.

Taking Tyler's engine along with us to NJ - hope to drop it off tomorrow morning, and I hope that they can fix it then, or have it ready at the end of the day.  Tyler really wants to hook some cars up to it and see it run.

Gonna be a busy day tomorrow in NJ - inspection for the SS, haircut, train shop run, drop off the other car so my mechanic can fix the transmission leak and other issues, got PSE&G (power company) coming in to replace the blower on the furnace, need to pick up my dad's ashes (not sure if we're going to leave them at my parents' house or bring them down for now), need to go to my parents' house to make sure it survived the storm and to close it up.  Ah, well.

Laugh

Hey Spank,

Can you bring my roadrunner back to VA so I can pick it up?  But, then, you may not want the SS back.....Laugh, 'specially after driving a drop top big block roadrunner.

Hey guys, TGIF

Into the 70's today...thinking about my friend in PA, funeral today outside of Philly (West Chester).  Typical Friday, EVERONE here has an issue that only I can solve...go figure (job security).

Got paid and shorted, that will show up in the next check, which is ok.  2nd job came in and now bank has to hold the check 5 days - out of state and now new Credit Union rules...go figure that as well....Banged Head.

OK BACK to the grindstone...Softball tomorrow, I can't wait!!!!

Dennis, I agree with your statement that it is in the end up to the great physician in these matters.  None the less  we admire the "spoke in the wheel" that you are.  I am grateful that there are people like you.

8n,

Happy birthday.  What version of the 3472 did you get?  Clean everything and make sure that there is no binding before making any adjustment to the can sweep arm.

Brent,

           Happy birthday.

Bob,

I watched the video that you put on YT.Thumbs Up  I figured that smoke unit would work well.

I have been swamped this past week.  I spent the majority of the time studying for a test in a controls class that I am taking, which was the first test of the semester.  Hopefully, I did ok.  That test covered about 80 pages of notes.  I've also been looking at 05 + Mustangs to keep me motivated the rest of the way through the semester.Big Smile  No other plans, so I'll probably take the PGT out for a bit since it is nice outside.

Good afternoon all,

Just a quick update.  Various "Powers that be" got together today and hammered out things at work.  I am heartened by the outpouring of support from those I will be working for.  I just now hope I can live up to their expectations.  Also, on another front, my cousin who had the brain work done will be coming home today.  Still faces a long recovery and not sure about the long term effects, but your prayers were and are appreciated.  How and why this group and gathering of the 'pot came into existence is far beyond me, but I for one am grateful that it exists.

Keep on training,

Evenin' boys.  Evenin' English.  Sunny & 73 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Just as nice yesterday, when I went to the boat yard after work, and spent 3 hours hand sanding the bottom of my sailboat with 80 grit.  Now, let me paint this for you...  The bottom of my hull is painted with Interlux Micron CSC black, a pricey copper based paint.  When you sand, the black kinda comes off easy, leaving a color similar to a dull penny.  You start sanding about shoulder high, then it's all curvey and down hill, where basically you really are "getting into" your work.  Now, even though I used a dust mask, I apparently did a mighty fine job of covering myself with the particles.  When I was done, I resembled something similar to one of those lantern wielding lawn ornaments.  I got a couple double takes at the marina, but the best came when I stopped in the 7-eleven on, spotted a guy I had locked up twice.  He kinda looked at me, then shook his head "nah".  Wifey showed no mercy when I walked into the house...

Going to Steelton and Harrisburg tomorrow for some type of train show with my buddy, Tom.

Quick hello before heading out to some friends house for dinner.  Spanky, ask your surgeon about using Platelet rich plasma for your repair.  Has a lot of growth factors that will aid in healing.  They usually soak some gel foam in it and place it over the repair before closing the skin....it is the latest thing.

Will check back later.  Hope everyone has a blessed day.

hscsltb - Thanks bro.  I do have a good chemical filter mask for painting, but can't hack those TYVEK jammies for more than 15 mins...  I do my best to cover up.  Will do a little better next year.

Sunny and 60's today.  Winter storm advisory for the weekend - 6" to 8" of snow forcast???

Thought you guys put that snow cannon away for the season. Grumpy

Anjdevil, SJ - condolances for your lost ones.

97Probe - I think my 3472 car is one of the later ones.  It is eggshell in color and has plastic doors and magnetic couplers.  I'd guess 1950 to 1953.  Ths innards weren't very dirty.  Basically a wipedown, then a couple drops of oil here and there.  Looks to me like the mechanical action that pushes the can sweep arm back to let the next can drop is more of an impact action than a cam action.  As far as I can tell from pictures, all of the moving parts are in the right places.  The first step is to get new wires onto the solonoid, then power it up on the bench so I can watch it work.

Bob - LBT  That means 'large baseline telescope'?  I think I remember an article somewhere talking about combining images from two telescopes some distance apart to improve resolution, or something like that - makes the image appear as if it was from one, much larger telescope?

Feedback from the potential customer visit was that they were pleasantly suprised and impressed that our plant was much better than they expected.  Now a month long wait while they decide where they want to place the business.

All for now.

First off, prayers for all in need including my brother-in-law who is just now home after a week in hospital and 3 in nursing home; and for wife of a former colleague who is in a medically based coma after a brain related pressure incident.

It has taken me three days to get from page 5 to page 39 in catching up on the coffee pot. I don't know where the time went. Had issues with down internet modem-rouer issues last weekend which slowed things down as well.

I hope all on the pot with colds have recovered--- but in case you haven't--try a remedy my Dad mentioned on many occasions. Go to bed, one with posts by the pillows, a top hat, and a fifth of whiskey. Hat on head, swig of whiskey, hat to post, a swig of whiskey, hat back on head, another swig, hat to other post, another swig; repeat until you try to put the bottle on your head and try to drink from the hat. It may not cure the cold but you won't know about the cold or care about it or anything else for that matter!!!

Beautiful day in South Georgia today, got some yard work done. Lots more to do. Two more weeks of teaching 4 classes of Elementary Staistics and then SPRING BREAK!!

Trains later maybe. Have some things on order from TW design. When they come in I will post pictures of before, during, and after installation.

I'M BACK, at least for tonight. That storm last week really hit us hard. We had over 500,000 customers without power. That is 500,000 accounts not people. Last count that I heard was under 3,000. We have been working around the clock. I was released (sounds like prison) earlier this evening to report back at 7:00am. In the Company's 107yr history, this was the worst damage that we ever incured. We refer to it as the hurricane without a name.

Chief: Thank you for your concern. We had some damage in Ocean County, where I live, but the Northern Counties were hit very hard.

Spanky: Wayne was hit hard with flooding, fallen trees, poles and wires, plus other wind damage. I would call the Gas Co to see if they are coming out. They are busy with getting customers back in service after the building inspectors give the OK. I hope that everything is ok.

My deepest sympathy to all that have list lived ones. Thoughts and prayers to all in need.

John

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold 34 degrees. Cloudy. Suppose to go up to 70 today, with some sunshine.

Today is an easy day. A few chores to do, and then, the Nascar race from Bristol. I may watch it from the train room. Not much else new here.

Dining car is here for the usual Cheerios breakfast.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Morning all from beautiful Southern Ohio

Well we picked up the dog I wrote of earlier.  The kids are really enjoying the dog and the dog is eating up all the attention.  It slept through the night in it's cage in the utiity room which is the routine we had for or other dog that died last year.  It is a two year old minature schnauser.  It seems to be well behaved.  When some company showed upa last night she we still good.

Several jobs today, relamping outside floods at church, such a pain.  Tow of the lamps I am going to replace the existing floods with a new LED type.  They are suppose to last 12 years!  That would be great.  They are expensive though, $68 each.  When you consider what you have to go through to change it will be worth it if they last even 10 years!

I have some more inventory pictures for SPF, and hope to get the test track cleared off so at least I can have something to run the trains on and maybe some yard work.

Check back later, may God bless

Jim

Aloha indeed. Snowing hard.  Maybe an inch or so. Ugh. March. But it should vanish next week I'll bet. Meanwhile, it's a good day to spend indoors.

I woke out of a sound sleep this am remembering a video game the youngest got out of the library I don't know how many days ago - thank you subconsciousness. That'll cost me. Wink

My condolences to you, Sir J. And prayers for the relatives and friends recovering from illnesses.

Good almost afternoon everyone.  Has been a good weekend.  I was able to burn a lot of debris yesterday before going to our friend's house.  Had  a great meal and plenty of fun talk.  Son slept over at their house and we will get him soon.  Have to take the front door down and sand, stain, and polyurethane it.  Also, plan to change oil on tractor and get to cutting lawn.  Looks beautiful out there and it will be too good a day to be inside.

Sir James, sorry for your loss.  Has been all too common for our group here losing family.  May the peace of God comfort you and your family in this time of sorrow.
God Bless,
Dennis
