The weekend is over, so it is sunny and high 60's today. Figures...
SJ - Happy Anniversary
Had the back brakes checked on my wife's minivan - frozen adjusters and new drums. Asked questions about the new Challengers while we were at the dealer picking the van up. Dissapointed to find out that the base V6 can only be had with an automatic. I'll have to stop by the Chevy dealer and check out the Camaro soon.
Back to work today to keep those SS coffers from emptying quite so quickly. My cohort is on vacation this week, so I spent a good chunck of today taking care of production support issues that he usuly fields. No problem - I have more vacation than he does
Just noticed that I passed the 500 mark this weekend - ooooooo.
Later all.
Navy Jack, My layout is powered by a DCS MTH system and most of my engines are MTH. All of my proto 1 engines have BCR in them now and I have not had any problem with scamble chips since I put them in. This is the way to go on Proto 1. You can leave an engine on a shelf for a year, then put it back on the track and it will fire right up after the one minute wait for the BCR to charge up. I don't know what to tell you about proto 2 yet because all of mine are still running on the original batteries. I have been told that you will not get a scrambled chip with proto 2 however. I think J and W Electronics does make a BCR for some proto 2 engines. You could try e mailing them for more information. The early proto 2 engines had batteries that looked like a 9 volt but the newer ones have a 3 volt system and different looking batteries. I only have a couple of Lionel steam engines that use batteries and they are only for a back up to the sound system when you shut the power off so that you will get shut down sounds. It has no other function and is not necessary to run the engine. Hope this helps,
Ray

Evening all. Real warm outside. Partly cloudy. Suppsoe to hit the mid 80's by later this week. After the 2.2+ inches of rain, water is running in the pond at a high rate. Coming out of the ground in lots of places [see pond is down in a "hollow" surrounded by rock].
Buckeye, eat your heart out. K-Line [original] C&O Alleghany, new in the box [never ran] with cruise added. Got it for a "seal" on OGR Buy and Sale. Sweetest running engine I have ever had. Die cast, railsounds, smokes up a storm, elecrocoupler and great detail.

CHIEF ... Beautiful engine .... I have one just like it and Love it ... was my first O scale engine in fact .
Great night on the chat with Charlie = SJ = and my buddy Brutus .... SJ had me laughing again ... Won a Ike campaign car ... my dad had me wear his campaign button when I was a lil shaver ... " I LIKE IKE " one of the last great presidents and a war hero .
Well, we are all ready for the VLBI and the MIT (Massachusetts Invasion of Telescope) boys tomorrow. We finished getting the rack and the receiver room ready. There is a chance we will do 345 GHz VLBI, which would be a another world first for us. Good thing those parts from the SPF arrived in time.
SJ and DJ - congrats!
Chief - that's a beautiful engine. I've been tempted by the MTK Railking Y6B, but right now all my curves are 27" radius.
Ole Timer - now we can see a double header! Those shays have operating front couplers don't they?
Jack - I hope you guys dry our back there sometime soon.
I bought my first operating car last night. I found a good deal on an MTH Railking rotary snowplow in SP colors. It has lights and the blade operates, but I think I might try to add a smoke unit. That and I've got a good deal on a 110 HP crankshaft for the corvair.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a clear 40 degrees. Going up to 58 today with some sunshine.
Today is another busy day. I have an errand to run this morning. Then, a few chores around the house. After that, I will relax and take a nap. That sounds like a good gameplan.
Baseball season is starting soon. The Indians have been doing good in Spring Training. All new coaching staff and manager. I hope it works for them.
Physical Therapy is going well. I'm doing a lot of walking. It is slow, but showing a lot of improvement. So they tell me.
Dining car is here for the usual Cheerios breakfast.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.
Chuck
Good Morning. Finished making a second batch of cookies for the Grand Parents Day celebration for the kids school. I am on call still, but have most of the morning off. Going to hook up with movie crew and get some planning done. Then, back to the hospital where we also have some meetings as the hospital is helping with some locations. Lots of work, but it is great to have so much fun in something that will have a huge impact on our youth. Hey, we are all called to serve.
Chief, that is one sweet looking engine! I am sure I'd jump at one if I found such a deal. Congratulations and look forward to seeing her on more SPF.
God Bless,dennis

Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s. Watched "Dancing with the Stars" last night. Definitely not a good cast this year, except for Buzz Aldrin. "Lost" is on tonight. May try to go to YMCA tonight. Depends on how I feel. Quiet day at work yesterday, and hopefully quiet today. I had pancakes and sausages on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL after "Lost". I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
PS Note from Will Power to other IRL drivers: Good luck running for second this season! :-)
Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Still soaked here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Tulips seem to like it. Wanted to get down to the marina today...

Aloha all from a sunny and cold Chicago where class begins tonight. So I'll be on the lookout for riders on the long late ride home Battling allergies. Working with video. Been trying to hang with the bride in the evening. Usually can't stand wasting time watching TV when there' s a layout to run, but she likes it... Watched Castle and a plethora of Mediums she recorded - in Oct. Nice Challenger, Chief!

Morning. Off to CPA to get taxes done. Use CAP due to so many government ways to tax me. Capital gains on tobacco buy out, interest on the money we did NOT get interest on with tobacco buy out [IRS robery] and other incomes. Will pay someone's healthcare for a year.
Sunny breezy and warm. May plant some squash and zucchini plants today. Tomato plants getting leggy too. Got some "special" tomato plants in greenhouse and one is about three feet tall. Got some special seed from Burpee that says sweet seadless tomatoes. We'll see.
Later.
Chief,
That is a great piece. I know Brent was having some issues with an Allegheny, but I can't remember if it is one of the K-Line ones. Good luck with it.
SJ,
Congrats on the anniversary.
Dropped the PGT off at the bodyshop earlier. Very nervous about it at the moment.
Morning all!
Gonna be 82 and sunny today! Life is good.
MIke C - thanks for the note. The team had a good year for soccer last year and this year looks good also.
Dennis - any day a train car/loco shows up is a good day - oh - you too Chief!
Gotta head to the office.
Have a great day all!

submmbob Ole Timer - now we can see a double header! Those shays have operating front couplers don't they? Bob

Chief, nice engine! I should have bought a Virginian version of that from somebody. Hindsight is 20/20.
Small leak under washing machine when it empties. Probably a loose connection somewhere around the drain hose. At least I hope that's all. Washer in a super tight place and no room to work. I'm too fat now to get behind it. Also noticed drain spigot for hot water tank was dripping behind washer. Got a chair and a small step stool and walked over the washer to get at it. Turned tight and hope that did it. Hot water tank is fairly new so should not be rusted out or anthing like that.
Getting ready for expected rain here tomorrow and Thursday. We need it because everything is looking dry again even after all the rain we had this spring. It has been hot for a while but cooling down now.
Went to train meet last Saturday but was disappointed with low number of sellers. I like modern trains and did not see any to speak of. Over the years I have become more an operator and less a collector. Our resident layout man for the meets has not been able to come for the last couple of meets so we haven't had much to run except a loop on a few tables. The regular guy puts together a big floor layout on outdoor carpeting and runs DCS. When he's not there, I loose interest. Seems like private auctions have been turning up more exitement here than train meets for a while. I suppose E Bay and mail order have taken their toll over time. I have made a lot of friends over the years through train clubs however but now we are getting old and people are moving away or passing on. Sad but true.
At least all our friends on this forum are alive and kicking. Thanks for the comraderie guys.
Have a good Easter week all,
Good Afternoon, Ya'll, From Deluged Taxachusetts,
First.....I am still dry. More of the usual. Gale warnings. Winds gusting to 45. High tides and coastal flooding. Beach erosion. Rivers back at or over flood stage. Evacuations. The National Guard is out sandbagging and helping with evacuations using those WWII landing craft Duck boats that can be driven on land as well.. State of Emergency declared. Dogs and cats sleeping together. Everything!
I've measured about 4+" of rain since yesterday. The pond at the base of my back yard is over the banks again and the neighbor's driveway is flooded, water soon to take up residence in her basement. This is the worst March for rain since formal records began back around 1880. Some places the worst flooding since Hurricane Diane hit here in 1955. As far as single month rainfall records ever, we were at #3 going into this storm. And it is not expected to stop until later tonight sometime. A buddy of mine from Northbrook IL. called an hour ago and said his media coverage is not mentioning Ma. too much in its coverage of the East coast flooding.
SJ.......glad you have sun today. Send some my way!
Bob.....Your pictures of your work surrounds are stunning. Thank you for sharing them with us. When does your snow disappear?
Chief......sweet engine. If your inventory is getting overloaded, you can store some at my place. Why don't you call CSX and see if you can a deal on shipping me some tomatoes.....over $3.00 per pound and rising.
Laz......you have really been hauling on that addition during the past couple of weeks. It looks like you are in competition with Brent to see who gets finished first.
Chuck.....we are all glad your PT is still paying dividends. Slow and sure wins the race. Bet you can see quite a difference from 2 months ago. Hang in there, buddy.
Dennis......Grandparents Day? We need that here! I have to declare one.
Fife.....it sounds like a sail may be hoisted within a couple of weeks.
JimSP......hope the grandkids aren't driving you nuts!
Spanky......"But dear, playing with the kids and the trains IS quality time together. An the NYC you gave me shows them how much you love me."
DougM.....allergies, yuk! My wife and I have none but both our kids do. Wonder what is up with that. I figure it has to do with how much time we as kids spent outdoors relative to today's kids. During the summers we used to leave the house and, except for lunch, dinner, and bathtime, we were gone.
JimT......I must have missed something. Why is the Probe in the body shop?
Gotta run. Later gang.
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
ChiefEagles Got some "special" tomato plants in greenhouse and one is about three feet tall. Got some special seed from Burpee that says sweet seadless tomatoes. We'll see.
Chief - Never heard of seedless tomatoes. Great for those of us with Diverticulitis. Its a chore removing the seeds to make a tomato sandwich.
How do you start them from seed when they are seedless?

Jack,
There was a rust spot on the roof above the door on the driver's side. Tried to fix it myself, but got into more than I can handle.
OT,
Thanks. I'll get BC2 at some point. I have yet to hear any negatives about it, so I'll get it as soon as it get more $$.
Good Evening All
Sun and 57 today
Well after my walk this morning i just wasted the day away. Still got some banilla and the new lionel ready to run catalog. So come on by with the thingy tonite & I will share...S.J.

SJ, Congrats on the anniversary. Dropped the PGT off at the bodyshop earlier. Very nervous about it at the moment. Jim,Your memory is better than most!Yes I bought one of those K-Line Alleghenies about 2 years ago. I only ran on the layout for about 2 minutes, then stopped. I opened it up and a part from the R2LC fell out, ordered a new one, installed it, it ran and smoked like a beast for about 2 minutes. I took it to the LTS to have it fixed and haven't seen it run since. I stop in every now and again to check on it but still no luck. I know the electronics expert is looking into so it could be a few more months before I hear a verdict. Most likely it will become a shelf sitter.
Brent have they given you visiting rights yet Sorry could contain myself on that one. well all is good will have my st told Thursday or Friday as there only like 2 hrs away so ups should be able to pick up one day and delivered the next you would think and it will be shipped on Wed.
yes chief it isn't scale but semi scale is good enough for me ( Lionmaster) will be nice when I get my layout built. hope to start in a couple of weeks but as said befor this may not be big layout but will take time to do. but should be enough to get into car swap as will have scenery and all so its not just a kitchen table or something lol.
Hope all had a good day.
not much happening here. It did reach 72 today and suppose to be 87 on Friday
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne
http://rtssite.shutterfly.com/
Good Evening: Getting jealous of everybody's weather, Roy: 82 & sunny, SJ: sun & 57. OUR'S: HEAVY RAIN & FLOODING. Spanky, I hope that the homes in Wayne are alright. GN Mountain Goat, I believe that you said that you live in Bound Brook? I hope that your home survives this next round. It rained hard all day in Cental and North Jersey and we are under a flood watch if the areas aren't already flooded. My thoughts to all affected.
SJ congratualations on your anniversary.
John
Hey Guys...
Long day today and unfortunately a short night, I can sleep for 4 hours then up again...this is getting a bit ridiculous.
Was up to 75 and very breezy....tomorrow is Bike Day...the Mrs needs the company car, so I'm 2 wheeling it.
I have a friend who lives in Bound Brook, been flooded out already and looking at getting it again...Had no power for a week and no heat for 10 days...told him to move here, he said thanks but I'm not moving to he*l...smart boy.
Thursday is pay day and pay off some of them bills...April Fools!! he he he!
- for all that are ailing - you too, Fife!
Check back later, if I'm up....
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
Its still raining here in RI. Pawtuxet River is expected to reach 19 feet above flood level and route 95 is shut down in southern RI.Lots of roads closed. Luckly my house is on high ground.Only a little leaking around bulkhead.Ground is still saturated from last weeks rain. to those who need them.Congrats to SJ and his bride.
Good evening everyone. Had a good day. Did a bunch of scouting with the Director of Photography and a number of other folks on this next project. One place requires a scene in the attic. I went up and found a box of old tracks and a old Lionel gondola. May be some more there, but I didn't take any of it. It is a old house that will eventually be demolished, but I don't want to set a bad example and others may take because they saw me. I will check with the VP of the place that owns the old house. Still, it was a neat find. Also found an old 16ga shotgun and some control box for checking old TVs.
Still, it was a productive day and very good to see everything coming to fruition. Most of the crew will leave tomorrow morning to return when filming starts.
Jack, the school is great for things like that. They really get families involved and teach kids so much more than most school systems. You should see the Veterans Day celebration they put on. They get a number of relatives dressed in their uniforms, a whole lot of retired military, and then a bunch of guests of honor from the local Marine Corps Base. The kids sing for them, then hold a reception where they serve them lunch. Also, they have a video that really brings home the message of what our vets have done that we may be free. The same director and crew that we make the movies with did that. With regard to Grand Parent's Day, they have the kids host their grand parents and serve lunch, etc. Then they get to show them what they are learning and in the end, present them with cards.
Chief, ya still got me thinking about that engine. Perhaps some day. I remember a hobby shop that had one for $259.00, and I passed it up. I would certainly buy it now. That was going back about 8 years ago. Oh well.
God Bless,Dennis
hello guys, hope that everyone is fine hope that the guys from r.i. get through that flooding ok. chief the 2-6-6-6 is a great looking engine. when it was first introduced, i drooled over the virginian version. even at 399.00 suggested retail it was too rich for my blood. i am real glad for you though. also pat how are you? hope that you are doing well. and dennis sounds like fun when you were exploring the old house. lots of old memories. better be careful who you tell about that 16 gauge......someone might take it away.......navyjack
