Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 20 degrees. Only going up to 27 today with a few snow flurries.  This is becoming a long winter.

Today is an easy day. Physical therapy went well, yesterday. Left leg is getting stronger. Right leg still hurts. This is gonna take time.

Nascar race today from Daytona. Smaller one. We will see how well Danaca does. She looked good in Arca race.

I will be running trains this afternoon.

Dining car is here and we are having an omlet for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

There is snow in every state except Hawaii, according to this evening's news here.  Think of those poor Hawaiian children that have to go to bed each night without snow.

Hawaii also has snow up on the mountains.

We had a rare 3" of snow here outside of Athens, GA.  Glad I don't have to be at work till noon, by then the local idiots should be done playing on the roads.  I grew up in the N.J. where driving in the snow was commonplace, not an adventure or game.

Quick touch and go before I go to bed........

Brutus......YAHOO!!!!!  The Eagle has landed!  This germ free lifestyle is going to be a challenge.  Char is going to need some peace and quiet.  I cannot imagine the crush of phone calls, etc., from well wishers.  Message on answering device: "Hi, Char and the kids are playing right now.  Please leave a message at the beep and we will return your call as soon as we can.....in about 3 months." Big Smile

Dennis.......suck it up, buddy. There is snow in every state except Hawaii, according to this evening's news here.  Think of those poor Hawaiian children that have to go to bed each night without snow.

Yup......Jon, Jon, and Brent have been pretty quiet lately.  Kurt too.  Must have had some pileups and are too embarrassed to let us know.  Maybe they are slow readers and can't keep up.  That's my problem too.

OleTimer.....it sounds like your train "to do" list is getting a little long.

Rich......after the new battery install, is the HD otherwise finally good to go at long last?

Later, gang.

Jack

Thanks guys, she's doing pretty well so far.  Took forever to get all her medicines, had to call around to different Walgreens stores - they did take care of it all though so I'll give them that.  She and her Mom are watching the Olympics.  Nice chats with Wes, RT and Doug for a while.  We're all exhausted, I think.  Son has some congestion and we're keeping them well separated.

Back from sitting for the pastor's kids. 4 aged 1-8, with my 7 yr old, it was a full house up there. Tired though  - 5-9 is a long time so I cleaned a bit too.  Can't believe you have snow, Dennis. This might keep the bride in FL for another day. Oh boy. Must have missed Sir J and RT on the Tardis.

Let me know how the show is if you go.  I wanted to go, but I won't be able to make it.

Brutus,

           That is more geat news.

Bob,

        Sent you a PM.

Jack,

I just might pull the 332 off the shelf for Sunday.

I discovered another unfinshed restoration in a box yesterday.  I started a 675 back in October 2008 and never finished it.  When I get some $$, I'll have to get it and the 326 finished.

Helppppp! what is all this white stuff on the ground?  Got a couple of inches that has stuck to anything but pavement.  I have been told this was the first one to hit this area in 38 years!  So, how's that global warming working out for ya Al?  Went in early to do a case.  Finished about 4pm and had to come home quick like a bunny and pick up wife and kids and drive to Violin lessons.  Then, we celebrated Chinese New Year with several other adoptive families from the area at our church.  Had multiple accidents that we had to get around on our way to each destination.  Lots of evidence of folks leaving the road.  Chief, we could use a little help in repelling this Yankee horde.  Speaking of snow...has anyone heard from Jon in Ioway?  Hope things are well up there.

Brutus, please tell Char she will be in our prayers.  If you don't already have a box of masks, get one.  Anytime someone thinks they have even the slightest hint of a germ....mask up or stay out.  You should pass the word to well wishers too that if they have been exposed to any illness, please stay away.  Even though her numbers have gotten up there, she will not tolerate illness as well as if she was completely back to top physical shape.  Besides, I am sure she is pretty beat anyway and could do without any sickness.  If your son is sick, perhaps there is a relative close by he can stay and not expose Char to it.

We have a baby sitter for tomorrow night, so we are planning on dinner and a movie.  Thinking about that new Mel Gibson movie, but we will see.  Also hope to get to our favorite sushi place, but we will have to see if they are open as most businesses closed with the snow.

God Bless,
Dennis

 Hello all.

Been lurking a lot lately with out much to say. Mrs. Brutus getting home made me jump in.

Congratulations on getting home.

Prayers will continue.

Been busy plowing snow. Discovered an Ice Dam on Dad's house. Looks like boxing may be full of ice in one area. Hopefully it will warm up and melt before we get more snow as there is not much left on the roof. Doesn't  look good for that. They are predicting another couple of inches on Monday and below freezing temps at least till next weekend.

Going to the Greenberg show in Monroeville tomorrow afternoon, weather pemitting. I'd prefer to go Sunday but I've got a 50th anniversary to attend. I'll let you know if I find anything I can't resist

To bad about the tragedy at the Olympics today

I best join my Valentine of 34 years in bed. Night all

Prayers for all else who may need them

Yes Bob Island Airlines had several Tri-motors, they liked them because they could take off and land on short runways. as the planes got really old they were taking parts off of the worst ones to keep the others running. They flew to Put-in-Bay,Middle Bass, that cluster of islands.

Another nice day here on the mountain. If I can get up early enough one afternoon this weekend I take a walk down the access road and get some more pics. As narrow as it is I don't want to do it during the week as when I will be walking is when the day crew heads down.

Dennis - sorry about the snohio. It just sounded too much like heavy weapons training and using  the old field phones.

SJ - I believe the airline that flew the trimotor around Lake Erie was called Island Airlines. I read an article in National Geographic about the Erie islands and they mentioned this plane. Apparently it got pretty banged up on a landing in the 80's but they were determined to repair it. Apparently, it was really the best thing to do the job. They once carried all the parts for a carousel inside it.

Got to go change frequency. We are hunting galaxies right now.

Wow, that site really works, Ray. Spooky.  There's my childhood home.

The bride is apparently riding Vespas on the beach at Daytona. Can't be raining too badly. No Danica sightings yet.

RT and SJ, I'd personally much rather have you to chat with than mess with the camera and voice. It was fun to experiment with...

Good morning all, thanks for all the well wishes for my catract surgery last Tuesday.  I am doing fine now and on my way to getting back to normal.  Just have to use eye drops three times a day until they are gone and an eye shield at night to keep from poking myself.  I can read the computer now without my glasses.

Next door neighbor's house got tented and treated for termites this week.  His family is going like gang busters to get the place ready for sale following the neigbors death but that's the way he wanted it.  Talked to another neighbors son this morning.  He has moved to an assisted living place and loves it.  It is one of those expensive places that do everything for you but he can afford it.  He is 92 now and doing very well according to the son.

Been having fun looking up pictures of places I remember growing up on a new website to me called www.vpike.com.  They have eye level shots of every house on your street.  Some places don't have pictures yet.  My wife is from New Hampshire in a small village and they have'nt got there yet.  Wish they had.  It is beautiful there in the fall.  I took a picture once at her old home place.  It was an old red barn reflected in the water of a lake and fall colors all around.  Later on, I saw the same picture in a camera store which was part of advertising by Kodak.  Imagine my surprise.

Have a good day y'all,

Ray

SJ......my FIL has you by a few decades and was born on Pele Island!  Lake Erie water = the drinking water supply, only they went to get it with buckets.  He told me this story.

One day he was doing as he was told and went to get some water.  Standing there at the edge of the water and seeing cattle grazing nearby and drinking water, and doing what cattle do, it occured to him that he should mozy down the shoreline a bit to get his water.  Wink

Good morning

Cloudy and 20s, no new snow.

A chat with the guys last nite but they are starting to use new fangled stuff like cameras and things, I may have to drop out and just visit from time to time. Oatmeal and 1/2 a bagle this morning, I miss my eggs and taters but we all have to sacrifice now and then I guess.

Happy Friday....S.J.

Jack thanks for the kind words, I think it eased her mind a bit. We still have to deal with the problem though.

A ford tri-motor was the first plane I ever flew in. no I'm not that old, an airport in Sandusky Oh. used them to fly out to islands in lake Erie. It seemed like they would never leave the ground, always had the feeling a push pole would help..LOL

Interesting day so far - son got up and said his throat hurt so bad and he couldn't breathe.  I think it's sinus drainage, but he insisted it was strep.  Throat wasn't swollen and no visible problems in the mouth, but better safe than sorry, so I called the school and will take him to the doctor.  Now, he's fine - watching cartoons and cracking himself up.  If he's not sick, I'll kick his rear end.  Meanwhile, we talked with my wife's doctor and he said if our son is sick he has to wear a mask and have no contact until he is better.  Geez, this kid better be faking.  I know his GF wanted to go to a valentine's dance tonight, so I'm hoping this is just him weazeling out of that....  I'll keep you guys updated.

Jim - we'll cool it on the video and stuff, need to keep the chat group going dude.

Well, need to trim chewy's nails and get some lunch before the doctor appointment, so TTFN!

Good Mornin' Ya'll,

Brutus.....the news just keeps getting better.  Homeward bound.  A little traffic jam on the way home will roll right off your back.  Prayers continue for Char and Di and the entire TEAM BRUTUS.  Chewy too.

SJ.......the positive test results on your wife were uplifting.  Prayers continue for more good news.  Thanks for the heads up on your train pics....I have to go find them.

RT.....re knucklehead drivers in the snow.  I was going to send you local news videoclips but there were too many choices.  Figured you need to specify make, year, and color of vehicle you are interested in, as well as sheared telephone pole with electric power or without.

DougM.....wouldn't want to be you, can just picture your wife's disappointment and frustration standing by a palm tree in the snow.  Just keep telling her how comparitively frigid it is outside in Chi-town and how lucky she is to be South of the Mason Dixon line.

Dennis......excellent stuff on the prescription drugs.  A family "Captain."  The PCP gatekeeper.  Caution with added in OTC stuff.  Now if we can just get our relatives in need of some help to just take the stuff when they are supposed to.

JimmyT......332 shelved until Christmas?  That's like leaving a Ferrari in the garage.  I couldn't do it.  Neither could JimSP with his, I suspect.  Duelling 332s on SPF this Sunday?

Bob.....keep those beautiful nature photos coming.  I always felt that if you can't find the natural beauty you seek here in the US, it doesn't exist.  I may be a bit biased.

Chief.....was thinking about your comment about wearing a bullet proof vest.  Serious stuff.  Private Rock entering his Doberman into protection work and will be applying for a spot on your personal security staff.  What's the pay?  Magnum PI set up at Eagles' Nest.

Snow in Dallas, the bayou, GA., and FLA!?!  Must mean school closings and postponement of some wet t-shirt contests.  Re the snowfall amounts......think we are still aound 30" for the season toward an annual average of 42".  Season record for Boston (measured @ Logan Airport) 1996-1997 @ 107" but I got 125" here, 20 miles North with an end-of-the-season-dagger April Fools Day storm of about 20" that year.  Not Vermont or Buffalo levels.  Spring is 36 days off.  Gaining 2 minutes of daylight per day.  Pass the ibuprofen and frosties, we can make it.

Navyjack......don't shoot your opinionated health care worker (on non-medical matters) until after the hole is dug and medical services have been rendered.

Laz.....had the new wheels all gassed up and ready to go but realized the gas mileage on this AWD thing is not great but as predicted. Need to borrow Chief's executve aircraft or his credit card.  Ford Tri-Motor is it?

Later, gang.  Prayers for those in need whom I missed today.

Jack
