Good morning

Cloudy and 20s, no new snow.

A chat with the guys last nite but they are starting to use new fangled stuff like cameras and things, I may have to drop out and just visit from time to time. Oatmeal and 1/2 a bagle this morning, I miss my eggs and taters but we all have to sacrifice now and then I guess.

Happy Friday....S.J.

Morning all.  Was cold but warming.  Sun is out but they say snohio b y 5 PM.  About an inch on grass but could have more.  More south of us than here.  Coast will get snow in places they normall do not get it.  Rich, Oriental will get snow.  We are going north to lake house this afternoon after I finish meetings.  We probably will not get snow there which is the reverse of normal.  Now they are saying we might get a dusting Monday.  It is so nice of you Yanks to share your misery.  Got to get ready for meeting.  Later.

PS: Mike C, I had stuffed country sausage biscuits with mustard.

Good morning all,

It is FOGGY in SE Indiana.  At least I did not have to drive today.  Spent some time in Second Life last night.  Dennis, interesting approach to Snohio down your way.  It will be interesting to see how well the "Princess" does against semi-real competition this Saturday.  All the time they spent flapping their jaws about her when most of the time she was the second best female driver out there.  Alli Owens ran 3rd most of the time she was out there, and they hardly mentioned her (maybe she needs to do a SI shoot???).  Hmmmmm....   I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast from "Points East" this morning.  TBIL any time after "Numb3rs".  Brutus, that is great news about the wife!!!!  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Aloha all. Cold and clear here. No snow on the horizon. Bride will be super-annoyed if it snows in FL. She's already froze through this week down there. Ah well, better than 7 degrees. May take the youngest to Cabellas today. Has an institute day off. Never mind, Navyjack, I'll try again later in your day. Good chat with Brutus, Sir J and Ole TImer last eve too. I seem to work more from home than in the office -what's wrong with that?!

RT, same here.  They have two driving modes...all out and stop.  I think two reasons they are cancelling all the public schools today are that they will use this as a furlough day and also because there is no snow removal equipment.  Hope all the streets are clear and that all the parents don't take this opportunity to head out shopping.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 18 degrees. Going up to 27 today with NO snow. The snow is going South for the winter.

Today is busy. I have my physical therapy this afternoon. I have to do some warm up exercises at home to loosen up. They hurt. But, they are good for me. So they tell me. No train time today.

Dining car has rolled in with the usual for breakfast.

Buckeye...TGIF

Y'all have a great Friday.

Morning everyone.  Got up to check the news web site to see if our son's school is cancelled.  Seems every one of the area schools is closed except the two main private schools and my son's is one of them.  I will drop him off on the way in as I have the second heart to do and should arrive in plenty of time.

Jack, regarding drug interactions when multiples are taken, mostly anecdotal.  I have not seen warnings of drug interactions on more than one other drug listed, but have seen it in practice.  Mostly, it is the side affects of one drug that cause issues with something else you are trying to correct.  An example would be taking certain diuretics that will lower blood pressure given to someone who already takes a blood pressure medication.  Then, given some nitrates for keeping vessels from spasm will bring the blood pressure to dangerous levels.  One reason folks need a "Captain of the ship" to keep track of what medications are given with what.  Lastly, many folks here about this herb or that one and think for themselves that it would help.  Some medicines are derived from herbs and can have similar drug interactions, so you should check with your doctor before taking them.  We have actually cancelled surgery because of finding out about things people are taking "on the side".

Bob, thanks for helping the snowhio targeting teamGrumpy  With regard to your photos, I have been in such snow when hunting in Colorado.  Was out there when the new Denver Airport was opening.  They boasted about all the steps they had taken to stay open even in the worst of storms....we got 52 inches of snow in one storm and that gave them a little lesson.  Real pretty stuff...when you don't have to drive in it, or you are not in a tent!  Those mountain roads can be quite interesting in such.

God Bless,
Dennis

Jack, glad you got back to the "list" so that I can respond to all the other posts I wanted to.  Enjoy the "Cliff Notes" that remind me.  Regarding hair dying....remember Phillis Diller at the celebrity roast of Lucile Ball?  "Lucy wanted to dye her hair back to it's original color...but forgot what it was!"

Regarding all the medications from different doctors, the best policy is to have a good internal medicine doctor that you do your yearly visits to.  Keep him/her updated with all the other procedures  and prescribed medicines that you are on.  In fact, make a list for any doctor that you see.  Some medications have negative side affects when combined with some other meds.  Most physicians are familiar with the other doctors in the local area and if you have a main doctor that you see, he/she can coordinate your care with the other doctors (ie a cardiologist).

Well, we are under a "snow watch".  Can't believe it.  They have actually shut all the schools and the local air port on the chance that it may snow in the morning.  Chief, I think Jack has found a way to push it back down this way.  Call out the cavalry!  We have to fend off this attack!

Gotta run, but hope to check back.
God Bless,
Dennis

Dennis.....thanks for the meds heads up.  These folks have these pill organizers.  I swear they take 30 pills a day, don't know what they are, don't know the strength, don't know what they are for or why they are taking them.  I can see where there is drug interaction data and adverse effects warnings between some combos, but what is the adverse reaction when you are taking a combo of a half dozen different ones?  Do they know that?

Chief apparently forgot to read the targeting instructions for his Yankee Snowblaster 6000, and you are paying the price.  Wink

Jack.

Bob,

       Sent you a PM.

Brutus,

            That is great news.

Jim,

Before I got my 332, I had a soft spot for 312s.  The 332 is definitely my favorite now.  Mine is resting on a shelf until Christmas.  Don't want to put too many miles on it.

Repeat for affect.

Another night on the hill. We are open for observing but may have to close due to frost.

Heliograph Peak from the west side on the way up yesterday.

Stopped at the meadow for a few photos while standing on the truck. Yup, that's more coming down.

One of the switchbacks on the access road as I was arriving just after dusk.

Spending the night painting color bands on tools. We color code them by floor. This is of course in addition to keeping the gears spinning on the place.

Ray - glad to hear the surgery went well.

Chief - be careful w/ them docks. But being an Admiral this is not a surprising activity for you.

NavyJack - thanks for the info on the 2025. I've located a replacement smoke unit, but as yet need to purchase it. She sure is a beauty. Should be rolling into the Mt. Graham Boiler Shop this weekend.

The acquisition of Corvair parts has begun. They are starting the work on the heads at LS Covair Parts in CA.

Stay warm out there.

Back from Town Hall meeting.  Senator is old buddy so we chated a lot.  Cold outside.  Debating on going to lake house after meetings tomorrow afternoon.  Now they say we might get a "dusting" of snohio tomorrow evening.  Actually forecasters say more to the south of us than here and at the lake in VA.   Popcorn time.

Hi GUYZ,

Seems like OHIO controls DA WAETHER?  WOW only 3 clicks, hey wait a minute thats ME?

DENNIS in the 26 years of teaching shop class, had two fires.  One caused by table saw, wire shorted out because of the torque when saw is turned on and the other by a belt sander, rubbing against gaurd.  Both times been there with fire extingusher.  Got r done but stinky and had to re wire motors.  What a mess.

Stay frosty,

Chief, keep up the fight.  When presented with all the facts, some still want to carry the flag of their ideas into the abyss.  I have heard the quote too many times to know its originator, but the line "you are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts".

Laz, When I was in high school, one of the guys in my shop class was trying to plug in the table saw and somehow it shorted and started on fire.  That was the only time I have seen one of those panic buttons hit.  Kid's hand and arm were badly burned.  While the saw had shorted hitting the button shut down all shop equipment and cleared the work area for the medical team.

Well, we are under a "snow watch".  Can't believe it.  They have actually shut all the schools and the local air port on the chance that it may snow in the morning.  Chief, I think Jack has found a way to push it back down this way.  Call out the cavalry!  We have to fend off this attack!

The AgriRama was neat.  They have a 1890's school that their teacher (agrirama's teacher), takes the kids to a classroom in the school.  They have school for a few hours and end with a spelling bee that the parents and teacher (their normal one) can come and watch.  During the time away from the kids, we toured the old museum and learned a lot about the local farming community.  They have a old Vulcan 0-4-0 steam engine that they run on Saturdays.

Gotta run, but hope to check back.
God Bless,
Dennis

Smilehello guys, hope that you are all well.  it was cold here today in the 20's and sunny though.  the snow melted off the trees.  i have been accumulating trains for ten years or more, but nothing fancy.  the trains that i have gotten have all been ones that i like and could afford.  problem is after i get them they go in the box and get thrown in the closet.  i have all i can do to hold them with one hand not working.  also have to rely on the wife to give them to me.  i probably should not be into trains given my condition, but i like them very much.  problem is i like to run them also and have not been able to.

dougM.  when you called i had a nurse here, it was her who answered the phone, sorry i could not talk then.  i will try to call you tommorrow when you are coming home from work.

chief. the dr. i had here yesterday was one of those people whose politics you do not like.  i have only one weapon and he made me feel like getting it out.  too big for the job though....i think....sorry to be bloody, but you know us vietnam veterans.

Good Evening

Sunny all day in the hi 20s.

Just ran a train for a few lapse and all went well. no pile ups. Grannys blood tests came back normal, that still leaves the cyst to deal with but lowers the possiblity of cancer. Thanks for all  your good thoughts. We don't know her doctors plan of action yet except she wants more pictures.

I am ready for the thingy but will keep banilla in freezer till someone shows....S.J.

CHIEF, they run those trains in OHIO at BREAK NECK SPEEDs, gonna have a derailment soner or later.  They should have a speed limit post there for toy train running.

As a professional educator, I thought you would be proud that the BUCKEYE SCHOOL OF MODEL RAILROADING OPERATIONS has a fantastic safety record due to the fact that we have a kill switch, much like you do in shop class.  (You do have a safety switch, don't you?)

BUCKEYE,

Yep we do it's called DA PANIC BUTTON.  We have three of em in the shop anytime someone is caught in a machine we all panic and run to the nearest switch.  We even practice this during my safety lessons.  Looks like a Chinnese fire drill with all the little kidos running all over.  They make a compition to see who gets to the button first boys or girls.

Jack, next Tuesday afternoon, the vote is supposed to be at least 5 for and maybe 4 against.  Now I am sure staff will try to stall it again.  I am thinking of doing any TV interviews in my bullet proof vest.  No joke.  There will be comments about me "playing politics" and getting the school.  That was one reason for the Democrat-Republican comment.  I work well with both parties but have views like the Republicans.  So much for that.

Stayed cold today.  Remembered I had forgotten to water the greenhouse.  Got that done.  Off to a Town Hall meeting with a State Senator around 6 PM.  Laz, 6 pointer seen at the pond this afternoon.
