Old Timer, glad to hear the Wisconsin found a home in my home town, Norfolk, sort of. Actually I'm from Portsmouth on the other side of the Elizabeth River. It is fitting that she should be in a historical Navy port if she can't be in Wisconsin proper. I saw many a ship sail into and out of that port from WWII onward. Best wishes to all the vets who served on her.

Grits are not hard to fix. Water, grits and salt. Boil on low for about 5 minutes. Dump in bowl with butter and some black pepper. Now you can go the quick way and get intsant grits. Dump in bowl, add salt and add hot water and stir. Stir in butter and pepper.
Morning all. Sunny and windy. Makes it feel chilly. Off to dermatologist. Then School Board were Rolesville is suppose to get a high school. Long time fight. Taking my bullet proof vest for a "funny" if I get cornered by news media. Got to leave for my Town Board meeting so might not be there when they vote. If not there, one will call me ASAP.
Jon, I like this Foxfire. Seems to be faster and etc. Underlines spelling mistakes too.
Jack, watched this week's Trains and Locomotives. Was on the Boston and Maine. Was in the late 40's to early 50's. Wow. Lots of passenger trains running all the time. Funny, some of the ladies wore hats and all of the ladies wore white gloves. One thing I saw was the RR crossings were attended by a person. He hand cranked down the crossing arms.
Chat later.

Aloha! Sunny and cold today. Nice chatting with Sir J, Brutus and Charlie for a bit last night. Long night tonight with my class, then local train home - I'll look for fellow riders. Have a few more mags for my conductor friend. Trying a workout plan with our little weight set. I can run the trains in the background at the same time. That'll be motivating.Buckeye, only the Art Institute is free all month. The others are free intermittently this month - a Tues here, or a Wed there. I try to make them all.

Morning all just a regular day at work today so get to head home at 3:30 instead of 8:00 . Like the Ot but also like to go home normal time a few times a week
A little depressed today as came in and found out one of the guys over in the nursing home side passed last night he was only in his mid 40 I would say. Young guy I do know he has been takening cemo so I guess he had some type of cancer but it was so rough yesterday seeing his mother sitting there holding his hand. while he was unconcious.
Glad I did get to see him one more time befor he passed thou. Don't think he was aware of my presents at that time but sure he knows it now. I enjoyed going into his room with his food just to joke with him.
On the train front can't wait to get my latest ebay item its the 1997-99 Virginian train set with 3 coal cars one each N&W,Virginian, And C&O and a Virginian illuminated Caboose. The engine is a rectifier with TMCC. Probably later add coil couplers. Be anice addition to my livery.
Got a Choochoo auction about a week ago which was a F-3' railking train set nib one of the sets that didn't come with track or transformer.
Also about a weekand 1/2 ago won another ebay it was the post war set 1501S came with all the boxes except the set box most boxes had tears on one end but still in fair condition the engine was painted by a young artist with yellow, red, white, silver, and purple paint in places. Buti already had a 2026 engine so it s now part of the set and the painted version which works and has a pill smoke unit will probably go up on ebay at some time as a parts or restore engine.
Hope all have a good day

Good morning all,
It is cloudy but dry (for once) in SE Indiana as the Snohio has stopped for now. Belated Happy Birthdays to Wes and Old Timer! Made it into work today. Wife and I spent the day working on the jigsaw puzzle. I called the YMCA yesterday before I ventured out and it was closed!!! Will have to do double shift tonight before "Lost". I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL after "Lost". I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Morning all. Have a blue sky and looks nice out. I will be taking our son to school while wife takes daughter to pediatrician. Chief, I too have had enough of meetings, but looks like I will have to hit a few this week alone. Do have one I am looking forward to that has the possibility of increasing my $$....but I'm not holding my breath.
Will tackle taxes tonight and hope to get onto the layout this week. I figure that the year to come will yield a lower return with the way they spend in Washington. Oh well.Check back later.Dennis

Partly cloudy, fading to gray and snow flurries today.
Won the Grand Trunk tender on e-bay. Shipping will be more expensive than the winning bid! Missed the drop center four truck flat car - not to worry, there will be others.
Those Ford GT's really were special in their day. Those big old 427 NASCAR engines would make horsepower, not to mention torque, at a much lower, and durable rpm than the Italian targets. When we visited the Henery Ford Museum with our Finnish exchange student we paused at a GT-40. He asked what it was, I told him that it was a Ferrari killer, then related the history. His reaction - 'well, it's old'.
All for now.

Home and tired of meetings. More tomorrow. Chat later. OH, it rained lightly and NO snohio. Good night and sleep tight.
Brutus, sorry to hear about Char's Pic Line. I know she is not looking forward to all the sticks, but the good thing is that it happened after the initial round when she get the most sticks. Will pray for continued good reports.
Jon in Ioway, this is for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCX9UY143xI This girl has some talent on the trumpet! Perhaps she was one of your students? Anyway, beautiful song played in a beautiful manner.
Had a couple of cases left over from the weekend. One will get operated on in the morning, have to wait for labs and do the other at a later date. Some folks are just too sick to operate on, so they have to be tuned up before we put them through a major operation. Still, I am on call and have to be ready should I be needed. Glad the snow has left us. Was cold and raining @ 52degrees on my way home tonight.
Got some sad news when I got to work today. One of the orderlies was found dead in his apartment this weekend. He was only 33 years old and one great guy. Always smiled and was very friendly and a hard worker too. He had no family to speak of, so I am not sure what the arrangements will be. From the reports I have, nothing suspicious was found, but they are sending the body to the state crime lab. Sad.
God Bless,Dennis
Good Evening
28 today and still gloomy. Very normal for feb. in Michigan. Mayhaps a few flurries overnite.
Got a hair cut this morning and goofed off the rest of the day. I did do a little training though.
Everything here is ready for the thingy so Brutus fire it up....S.J.
Howdy guys - we're getting fallout from that snow bomb those guys shot at Roseyville's reservoir/beaver preserve! Nothing much, just nuisance snow.
Wife's first follow-up after her hospital discharge. Her numbers are climbing nicely. Her PIC (PICC?) line was clogged up though on all 3 spots. They messed with it for about 45 minutes, then took her back again and tried a different substance. After an hour, it was still no-go, so they removed the PIC line. She'll have to get stuck for all her work from now on. She has an appointment on Thursday and they will do a bone marrow biopsy to see how that is working out. So far, she is getting stronger and feels a little better each day.
After that, I did some grocery shopping. Back to work tomorrow, but I'm off Friday as my son has a doctor appointment and my daughter has some stuff going on that afternoon and evening as well.
Tardis will be ready in an hour or two and we have some cake left over as well as banilla, rootbeer, diet pepsi, regular coke, and some Old Mills or Miller Lite
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Buckeye....The BIG gun is busy in NC.....
Bob,
PM sent.
Laz,
That is a shame about that shay. I'll keep an eye out for you.
Ole Timer,
The roads got bad fast here today. It amazes me how many people don't adjust their driving for road conditions. Nothing is worth driving carelessly on wet or snow covered roads IMHO.
Evening all
Snowing again. We'll see if there is school Tuesday. Be careful out there
May Godbless
The FIFEPUP 2000 looks more like a FIFEPOOPED 2000.
Another night here at the scope. We have one of the engineers running around working on the cooling system for one of the receivers. We'll be playing w/ liquid helium again soon.
Spent some time last night cleaning up the 2466 tender I got to go w/ the 2025. Trucks had some good surface rust and the rear coupler was missing it's pickup shoe. I kind of wanted a a pick-up roller for the ERR sound board I plan to put in there, so I started looking around at replacement trucks. The original trucks are so nice and heavy though. So I got out the scotchbrite and then the Neverdull (thank's Jim T for reminding me of this stuff, although being in the Navy it's a wonder I could forget). Did a great job on the trucks. Brasseur's had a replacement coupler shoe with a pickup roller. So for the price of one truck, I got a bunch of other stuff I needed and get to use the original trucks.
Dennis - we do have a remnant elk population on the mountain, prob less than 20. One of our officers showed me a video he took of a cow he found running along the road. There's much more up north of course.
Ol' Timer - Happy Birthday! Hope you got more stuff to go w/ the shay!
Probably start getting the 258 ready for paint tonight, plus some electronics work I need to do for the windbird install.
