Tardis is running late, but ready to go now. Went to eat with some friends and kids had us walk all over the mall looking for videogames and junk. Talked to my wife a couple times today. Her numbers dropped and she is neutropenic - not enough immunity left to have visitors. At this point, they say it could be a week or even several weeks for the new stuff to kick in. Of course, we hope for a fast turn around. She's having some problems now that will last until that happens and maybe for a few weeks after. She's lucky they moved her to a bigger room, because now she is not allowed to leave her room.
Chief - big prayers for your Mom, too!
Doug - Way to go! Glad you finally got it man, glad I could help a little bit
Laz - congrats on the porch, that's a huge job.
Okay, let's hit it!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Evening All !
Chief, Hope everything works out fine with our Mom! Nothing fun about the hospital, and the support and stress running back and forth! Especially in bad weather ! God Bless !
Hope everyone is doing well with the weather, we are suppose to get more rain beginning on Tuesday, may last thru the weekend. But don't know for sure with all the variations in forecasts. So, Bob be prepared, and means more bad weather in about a week for the rest of you.
Had a good day here, worked 1/2 day, came home mowed lawn, helped take down the Christmas tree, then some time in the train room.
Looking forward to tomorrow, will either modify some switch wiring, or start reworking a lift bridge. (Not the accessory, but that prevents a duck under.
Interesting situation with Chris, he is taking College Alegebra, Biology, and Chemistry this semester, (with Labs), any way the Biology teacher told him the benefits of Fish Oil. So we now have this HUGE bottle of Fish Oil gel tablets. He has taken them for 3 days, and he says he doesn't notice any improvement in his yet. Homework is taking just as long. Have to say I'm impressed with the instructors and school. The math department requires each student to spend a minimum of 1 hour a week in a Math Lab. Of course math majors are on hand to assist with problems, etc.. The only awkward thing is he is having to attend 2 different campuses, both are nearby. Apparently the schools have complimentary arrangements that if a class isn't being offered at one school, students may take it at the other. Pretty decent!
Take Care !!
Don
Good night. Some more fine dusting of icey snow. Mom is in the hospital. She was going into congestive heart failure per the care keeper. Hospital has all under control. Keeping her for a few days. 93 1/2 and declining fast.
Mike C, the Dollhouse is a big strip joint around here.

Good evening all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the teens. Did the YMCA bit with several double digit touches. Wife and I went to see our favorite bluegrass group tonight, Olivia Smiley and Main Street, down at Westport. She has toured with Pam Tillis. Work on standard gauge switch again. Making progress. Last "Dollhouse" was pretty worthless. "Numb3rs" was odd one. Had the regular fare on the dining car. TBIL anytime. No Snohio, just beautiful Indiana weather. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Oh Joy! Rapture! I won my first thing ever on an eBay auction - I've bought a few things but never figured out the bidding thing. And it is something I have wanted for more than a decade - a #96 pre-war Lionel coal elevator. Thanks go to Brutus for making me aware of it. And for a good price I think Clear night here...Barkeep, champagne for everyone!

Jim.....Central Ohio has not seen one flake of snow today. We are currently beneath a starlight sky but the temperature is falling. Paid a visit to Smoke Stake in Lancaster today.

Jim, you will enjoy the PSP - it is very popular here too - they are playing some fighting game against monsters and they can wirelessly play together which seems neat. Sounds like a nice time, Brutus! Looking forward to seeing the Burro crane.
Harold,
Did it take you a while to like the PSP? I thought I made a big mistake after buying it yesterday, but the more I play it, the more I like it. I got the Gran Turismo bundle, and I also bought Ace Combat X (great doesn't do it justice). I just ordered Medievil a few minutes ago after remembering how much fum the original was on the PSX. I still need to get a case for the PSP though. I am storing it in the box until then.
Jim,we have 3 PSPs in our house.Like how my wife and I can play against each other in some of the games.I still have not beat Lego Star Wars yet but am 89% completed.
Hiya guys - Ray, hope your friend hangs in there for a good long time.
Snow overnight - maybe 2 inches here in town. My friend John came over and we went to the train show. Met Dave Farquhar in person - neat guy :) We checked out a big room full of stuff. I picked up a 1:48 Fokker Tri-Plane to hang over the layout. I'll think of Buckeye sowing snow over NC every time I look at it Also picked up a Santa Fe Burro crane from a table that I think was a guy from a local train store, but I couldn't swear to it. Prices were pretty high on a lot of the stuff, but there was some good stuff. I took $100, and that was a good thing, because I think I would have spent whatever money I had Dave had to go, but John and I went out and had big hamburgers for a late lunch. Good time!
Fife,
I never realized that you can be subtle. Sometimes it takes me a while to catch one, but it is always funny. Keep it up. It has brightened my day numerous times.
Jim,
332DC? Go for it! Would my posting more pics/video help?
I went to work at 9AM today thinking that I was 9-4, then I saw that I wasn't scheduled until 4-9. I got to work until 2PM, then they let me come home. I am not sure what I'll do today. I might play some Silent Hill since I am too tired to work on the layout. I went to Best Buy yesterday and bought a Sony PSP, but I am not sure that was a good idea. Maybe I just need t get used to it.
ChiefEaglesIt was snowing hard and S/W slid down the runway sideways
Chief, what is S/W? Do you mean Southwest Airlines?
Morning all, went to a special Mass this morning for my late brother in law who passed away on the 9th in Chattanooga. My grandson was the alter boy which was nice. After service wife and I went to breakfast. I had steak and three eggs with O'brien potatoes and sourdough toast with coffee. Won't need any lunch today.
Went for a little walk after we got home but too full to walk much. Went to see my oldest friend yesterday who is housebound with COPD. He had a close call last week and had to go to hospital with lots of fluid on his lungs. Could have died but they pulled him through again. I don't know how many of these close calls he has left. He has been my best friend since 1971. We have been through thick and thin together and shared all kinds of mutual interest. I got the O gauge train bug from him. He was an excellent train repair and restoration expert for prewar standard gauge trains and the like. He did work for people all over the country and still found time to take care of my stuff. Now he is unable to do that kind of work anymore but we still talk a lot.
Looks like beautiful weather will continue today.

Chief - we are getting your missing snow. 8" and still coming down strong.
Deicing is key. Remember the under deiced plane that left Washington National (now Reagan) and went into the Potomac river in 1982?

Aloha from a sunny and brisk Crystal Lake where it's about 26. Sorry for the snow in the rest of the country. Nothing here. Shipped some things to the FL hotel the bride will be staying at in another week. Hope the bottles make it there unbroken... Thanks for the GPS recommendations!
fifedogIt's all good fellers. Sometimes I like to throw out little subtleties...

It has been snowing all day and we have about 4" on the ground. Bride is shopping for a new washer and dryer. Not a bad idea since we do at least one load of laundry a day anymore.
Putting the finishing touches on this weekends homily then going to church early to get the walks and stuff cleared off. LHS has a neat 332DC and I may bite at the bait! It would be just a clean up. We'll see.
Everyone be careful and may God bless
Jim
SNOHIZO now covering the roads. That makes Wifey frustrated, because she knows Fifey won't drive unless he has to.
I know, I know...tie some kerosene rags around my ankles...
Morning. "Big hipe". Maybe 3 or 4 inches. Lots of sleet this morning after some nice snow before light. Radar shows about to go away. They over forecasted it again. We do not usually get much snow from the west [Ioway]. Big snows come when cold air has been in place for some time from the north and moisture comes up through the South Carolina hills. The biggest snow [20" or more] came when cold air was in place and a northeasterner blew moisture off the coast inland. Could not make snow cream today as too much sleet has fallen into the snow. Watching movies and TV. Reading magazines too. Think wifey is cooking on George Forman grill [hasn't used it in a year or so]. At least my nose says that is going on and she told me not to come in the kitchen as she was cooking a surprise. Trains this afternoon. The big thing is it will drop into the teens tonight and only hit low 30's tomorrow before returning to the teens Sunday night. Monday AM will be a slick one.
Jon, Renee Chou is a good friend and reporter for TV 5. She reported this AM with a ruler she brought from Ioway. Yes, she was a reporter in Ioway before coming to Raleigh. No wonder she loves it here.
Staying warm.
PS: RDU cancled flight out. ????? Then announced a NW flight from Detroit is on time. I had commented no big deal up north. I've flown out of NH, Detroit, Chicago and others with it snowing and icing. Deice the plane and go. Guess they have never flown out of Spokane WA.
Night before these 6 AM photos. It was snowing hard and S/W slid down the runway sideways. Closed the airport for an hour to replow and reopened.
Okay ..... I'll take your word for it ..... fifey ....
Only 2 more tiny pieces left and restringing to finish this crane I just had to have .... then on to the MOW car ....
Pat ... I guess we did ..... we're better off and happier just staying out of it ...
If what's coming down now is snow showers ... I'm going to hate what that local weather man calls snow storm .. man it just started snowing big time !
Ole Timer It just started snowing here in the mountains in Maryland . One forecast says showers .... another says possible inch or so ... Fifedog : I like the coffee here. Suits my taste. But it's certainly not everyone's cup o' tea. I must have missed something ... ... I like it here too !

I must have missed something too. Are we just dense?
Mornin' boys. Flurries and 19 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Living room is finished, and Wifey and I made a major Kinkade purchase (planning this for years), which will definitely affect the fundage for Spring YORK.
Littlest Princess is working on an arbor "tips & techniques" for SPF. Never say "I'm bored" with a model railroader in the house...
