IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s. Went to Mass and then washed and waxed the "saucy wench" mini-van. Possibly could have done the PT Cruiser, but did not want to overdo it today. Ran the Alaska set on a slightly bigger Fastrack layout. Watched "Desperate Housewives". It was good.
I had cinnamon rolls on the dining car for breakfast before sending it to "Points East". TBIL. I hope everyone has a good day.

Busy weekend. Nice weather, so we made the best of it. Raked the rest of the leaves, did some other minor cleanup around the yard, roasted the rest of the habinairo peppers on the grill & threw them in the freezer to warm up this winter's chili, progressive dinner Saturday night, Dinner theater in Kansas City Sunday afternoon.
Remembered what I wanted to comment on in my last post. My wife and I ate at one of the local buffet resturants Friday night. We got to thinking how everybody uses the same serving utensels. Probably a good way to pass flue bugs around - low risk, but possible. We decided that we can avoid the buffets for a couple of months.
Got a missile firing trail car on e-bay yesterday. It will need a little clean up and a set of missiles, but the price was right and shipping was not too bad.
My wife's left leg went gimpy last Thursday. Hurts from the knee down and she is having trouble putting weight on it. Doctor's appointment Monday. Hopefully we will find out what it is and it will not be too serious.

I have to make a swing for the Home Ec teacher so that will take up about 2 hrs. Then I have some little things to take care of.

If you can't get the nut loose after using WD40, buy a can of PB Blaster. It is much better than WD40, just don't get it on plastic.
I got the 302AC back together Saturday night, and it runs very strong. I noticed that it chuffs much louder after I polished the cylinder and piston, but the smoke unit remained cold. So, I had to rebuild it last night. I enlarged the wick holes between the upper and lower chambers with a 1/8" drill bit while I had it apart. It smokes good now, but I am having trouble getting the front end of the chasis to seat itself in the boiler. The back is in the motor mounts, but the front won't drop into place. At that point, it was 2AM, so I decided to quit for the night.

Bob.....If you like the video of Ohio Steam, you should live near the tracks where the thing was filmed. One of the most stunning sights to see in Ohio is a steam train pulling freight cars. It stops people in their tracks and they just stare.

60s today, grass is done for this year. Mower and trimmer gas tanks empty and put to bed. I got through the day with a Celebrex cap, Something to be careful with, one of those that is blamed on heart attacks if overdone. But one is OK.
Chief I did eat grits once in Ky. of course I did not know any better then. As I recall it was like eating sandpaper with butter. I shall wait for Brutus and the thingy. Banilla and rootbeer for all...S.J.

Well, day one in the new position is behind me and no tears or gnashing of teeth, so I guess it's going to be okay for all concerned. I hope this will lead to a promotion. Time will tell

My wife was too lame to go to work today. Got her to the doctor, who suspects a pinched nerve. Perscribed muscle relaxants, anti-infalmetory, and pain killers. Told her to stay off of her feet for a few days too. This sounds like the symptoms are being treated. We wonder what caused the pinched nerve to begin with? She has not done anything unusual lately.
Lost a bid on another 1033 transformer on e-bay. Guess I'm being too cheap. Oh well, there are a lot of them out there. I'll just keep trying.

It is cloudy and still mild in SE Indiana. Can't believe I went to the YMCA at 8:30 last night wearing only gym shorts and a T-shirt (shoes and socks as well). Supposed to be relatively warm all week. Some one here may ask why I was going to the gym so late....it was because some sick b-----d decided to unleash a particularly nasty virus on the internet. I spent most of the evening trying to kill the stupid bug. It is still there, but I think it is de-activated...for now. Still getting a lot of attacks for some strange reason. Don't these people have a life????
On the positive side of things, I did get an e-mail from the Brazilian exchange student I tutored in soccer last year. It was nice to hear from her, and it is fun to read her "English". I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast this morning. TBIL after "V" tonight. I have tomorrow off so I can party all night long. I hope everyone has a good day. Thoughts and prayers for everyone on the forum as I think we could all use them in one form or another.

Chief - My new Pro Mariner charged the batteries ok, then tripped the breaker. Now the LED lights on the Sport 12 won't come on... May have to take it back to West Marine.
probe - The Alpine B&B is in the background of my pics in last week's SPF. The other buildings I can't have til XMAS. This year's LEMAX collection is one of the most handsome ever. Although I do love my Dept 56 structures, they tend to be a little too shiney or whimical, whereas the LEMAX have a lot more realistic detail going on. Perhaps I'll do a SPF one day on the buildings on my layout, as I do give a lot of thought on the purchase and placement of each one.

Doug - they still teach a class on small engine repair? Cool! Have a pretty good book I found at the used bookstore years ago on small engine repair. If your son can use it I'll be happy to pass it along, as I try to avoid that stuff now since I have too much "major" engine repair:)
Buckeye - the runbys of the Ohio Central locomotives were awesome and it was cool to see the freight trains. I especially like it when they used the 4-8-4 (6325?) to move a bunch of empty coal hoppers from the power plant. Doing what she was made to do. BTW, what's the oval thing on top of the smokebox of the Canadian 4-6-2?

Watched part of the America by Rail cross country video last night. Makes me want to take another trip back east. I especially like the footage of the Amtrak Genesis engines. When I had a studio downtown, I often used to go up on the roof on Sunday nights and watch the train make the stop at the station nextdoor. The Genesis engines have this Harleyesque rumble and they hiss and pop. Too cool. Are you sure there isn't an Alco under there?

Finally returned from our Saturday wedding in Berwyn, PA. They lucked out with an outdoor wedding. Little cool and at least they had a tent. We had nothing scheduled till 1800 Friday. Upon returning from the MALL, I looked in the yellow pages for a LHS. Called one up to find out if they were the "NICHOLAS SMITH TRAINS" . The answer was yes and only five miles away. Guess where I was for the next two hours? FANTASTIC !! Also had a good day to drive the 10 hours return trip to SH.
REMEMBER THE VETERANS TOMMORROW and ALSO THOSE STILL IN HARMS WAY.
