2.25 inches of rain since last night. Raining hard and windy. Pond is coming up fast now. Still not running over spillway but you could see it inching that way. Bet in a couple of hours of this rain, it will be at full pool.
Vet breakfast was great. Lots if WWII vets still living at retirement center. Why? They eat grits each morning.
fifedog Mornin' boys. Mornin' VETS. Damp and 50 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Got a unique detail this afternoon at work. 8ntruck - There's no mistake. After eating all them GRITS, your home will need new pipes... Chief - West Marine exchanged the charger. I did buy a service warranty too.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
Today is Veteran's Day. A big salute to all of those who have served and sacrificed.
It is a sunny day. 40 degrees. Going up to 56 with sunshine.
Today is busy. I have a bunch of errands to run and the usual chores around the house. This afternoon, I will relax.
Dining was here and we had the usual for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Wednesday
Chuck
Getting ready to move out wife's chair in the living room for the tree and track for the train ..... that always makes her sooo happy ... . Going to run the Alleghaney with the tmcc sound for the grandkids and the geezer " never grew up " kids as my wife calls us/them . This year for some reason I want to go all out for decorating . Have'nt for quite a few years . Black friday sale ads look like a bummer again .... have to buy a new xbox 360 ... oh well . Was hopeing the cameras would go on sale .... wife had me wait in case ... nope .... I should throw out all those old xmas lights and get new LED ones ... would save me hours of testing and replacing those darn tiny bulbs , God bless all and be careful out there !!
Oldest son's birthday was yesterday ... beautiful day .... I remember the day he was born we had a severe blizzard here on that day .... man weather is changing .... did'nt think it was so much until I remembered that !
With the remnants of Ida working its' way through my neck of the woods and giving me a rare day off ( I work in the great outdoors), I thought I would stop in and say hello to you good folks, especially to those who are veterans. By the way, if any of you know when Norfolk Southern plans to run the OCS on the R line, please mention it on this forum. I have found an excellent place from which it can be observed/photographed from private property (yes, I have permission). Now that the growing season is over I, hopefully, will have time to enjoy such pasttimes.
It is the Soldier
by Marine Chaplain, Father Dennis Edward O'Brien
It is the Soldier, not the reporter Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the Soldier, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech. It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer, Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the Soldier, not the lawyer, Who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the Soldier, who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag, And whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protestor to burn the flag.
May God continue to bless America.
Thanks to all who have served, either directly or indirectly, as members of the military on this special day.
Later All.

baberuth73 - I have found that RailPictures.net is a good place to track your favorite train. I believe the NS OCS is in Illinois this week.
Ole Timer,
We tried the C7/C9 LED lights on the tree, and we switched back to the regular bulbs. Althought the LED type doesn't generate heat like the regular bulbs, they lack the light output and character of the bulbs. As I was typing this post, I saw that you mentioned those smaller bulbs. I hate those. Put them in the garbage where they belong.
Did your 360 get the RROD? I have a feeling that mine will develop that shortly. When you do buy another, go to Best Buy and get their replacement plan to go with it.
8n,
Email sent.
Not much going on today. I'd like to thank all those who are serving and have served. It is unfortunate that they don't always get the respect that they deserve.
Old timer those tiny lights are good for one thing the "trash can" I still use the type we had as kids. I use them outside on our house and bushes. I don't use bulbs in the house because of the wifes fear of them and cats ( don't ask to complicated I don't even understand)
in fact I waited for after xmas and walmart was selling them all real cheap infact didn't get there for about 10 day and they still had some and they were like .10 on the dollar 90% off I was buying them the $6.00 set for .60 lol bought like 6 sets. will buy more this year probably after christmas but won't wait as long this time
Not to much going on today just a lazy day for a change talk to you all later

Baberuth73 , we are getting it too. In fact they say a new low will form off of our coasts and this will go on until Friday night or Saturday morning. Thought you might like to see these [posted then earlier on here].
As a big NS fan, I was fortunate enough to ride this:
Good Afternoon,
Doug, thanks for the poem.
Went to Mass this morning to remember our Veterans and pray for those still "IN HARMS WAY" !
It's depressing, not seeing many flags flying or people in patriotic attire. I think I'll call two shipmates I still communicate with.

this is my 3rd ship I was on
Good afternoon and Happy Veterans Day.
May God bless

Thanks for the photos, Chief. They helped brighten an otherwise dismal day. I think I occupied the conductor's seat a time or two in that unit. Rain has eased up for now- maybe I"ll be able to work tomorrow and make a few pennies.
Chief I did manage to take a few photos in my all too brief railroad career. I'll try to get my daughter to post them soon. I don't have the equipment or the know how to do so. I have a good many of the yard at Linwood, NC, especially the engine servicing facility, as well as some I took passing through the yard at Charlotte. If any of you ever see engine 8886, one of the last standard cab dash 9's NS ordered, try to post a photo of it. This was one of my "pet" engines and I often wonder if it is still in service. I frequently check the rail pictures site but no luck.
Papadiesel, as the son of a boiler man I fly the flag daily. My father served on the USS Owen during Korea. God bless all veterans
Still raining but lightly. More wind than rain now. Pond still not full. Golden Corral has postponed their Vets Day meal until Monday??? [guess they think more folks will be at work then]. Went to Applebees. Meal was free and paid for drink only [sweet ice tea]. Gave the waitress a big tip. Had to show proof of service. Guy I sat with [met there at door] had a laminated old ID card and I had my dog tags.
Baberuth73, good to have you on the "Pot". Don't be a stranger. Need help with these Yankees who do not like grits and sweet ice tea.
Later
Good evening all,
IIABSDISEI with temps near 60. We did our bit to stimulate the economy today by doing lots of Christmas shopping. When I got home, I washed and waxed the PT Cruiser in the fading daylight. Probably missed some spots but at least it is better than nothing. A big thank you to all the vets both living and deceased. My dad's dad served in both World Wars and my dad was in the service during the Korean War. I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast courtesy of the "saucy wench" before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL after "Glee". I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Mike,
Are you watching V ? If memory is right isn't this a remake of a series that was done back in the 70's or 80's ?
Happy Veterans Day!
My wife and I were both off today, but kids had school. I dropped them off, hit McD's for biscuits and gravy, talked to SJ on the phone for a little bit, then called a buddy who retired and moved to Columbia, SC 5 years ago. I hadn't talked to him in months - unfortunately, he has had some surgery, but he is doing great. No world problems solved, but we talked for 2 hours. Went out to lunch with my wife, then picked up some supplies at Lowes, but my back is still tweaked from the weekend, so just took it easy the rest of the day. I talked to RT for a good while, played FEAR on the xbox, and started some chili for tomorrow while we ate sandwiches for dinner tonight. Now we are watching some tv together and waiting for da giz to show up!
Tardis is about ready, need to get some rabbit tracks icecream onboard first though - see you all in a little while guys!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Hello all.
Stopped by for a quick sip in the way to bed.
Mainly wanted to thank all of you who are veterans
Prayers for all who may need them.

Sunny, low 60's today.
DDG - Nice piece of writing you posted. The freedoms we enjoy in this country are anything but free. We owe a lot to our veterans and people currently serving in the armed forces.
My wife is moving around much better today. The meds seem to be helping. We are still worried that the root cause has not been treated. She is to call the doctor tomorrow to talk about going back to work. I suspect that she will be off the rest of the week.
Anybody out there know of a source for 1/8" dia brass eyelets? I need a couple to rivet the trucks back on some Marx cars. Went looking on line last night without much luck. Did find several Chinese companies who would happily supply 10,000 of them! I'm going to call Train Tender tomorrow to see if he has something that could be adapted - his web site does not list these under Marx parts. If all else fails, there is always good old K&S brass tubing.
Later all.
Hi GYZ,
44 and dreary again here. Suppose to get some of IDA? Not much else going on.
Stay frosty,

Good Morning from overcast Southern Ohio
Man the deer are out and about lookin' for romance! Looked like animal kingdom on the way in to work. Need to go
Mornin' boys. Gale warnings and 43 in the Mid-Atlantic region. Oh, and might not want to park your car in a low area. Last night I was detailed to our local Wally-Mart, where Stephen King was doing a book signing. Got to meet him briefly. A lot taller than I imagined.
Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the high 50s. Long day already as I forgot my name tag and had to drive back home to get it. Interesting trip for sure this morning. I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car this morning for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". Dougnotagrump, I have watched the first two episodes of "V" and it is a remake of a series that was on in the late 70s (I think it was that time frame). I will give it about three more episodes to get even somwhat interesting or I may drop it. Quite frankly the only reason I am still watching it is that one of the actresses from "Lost" is on this show. "Glee", on the other hand, is a winner. It is not your typical high school melodrama. TBIL and I can drive anytime tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
Good rainy morning:
Got soaked this morning on the tractor giving hay to the cows. Have to many calfs, need to take some to market once the weather clears.
Brutus - Would "Rabbit Tracks Ice Cream" be chocolate chip ice cream?
Jim - Mix in wild turkeys with the deer and you have our place.
Chief - Great pictures of you on the NC. Has your "pond" overflowed yet. I hear it is going to get up to 8" of rain!
Dried out enough now to have breakfast. All out of Grits, darn it.
