Hello all, windy here today.Waiting on the rain, supposed to be a lousy weekend.Continued prayers for those who need them.Enjoy the weekend.
Afternoon All,
Had a great week!!! Its been an "attitude adjustment" week. Kay, said stay home I will handle the office, you need some time off! That was on Monday, Tuesday, she says, Nope you still need more, Wednesday, today is Veterans Day, take it off you deserve it. (Monday and Tuesday was spent doing chores and stuff. Wednesday, I started putting some additional shelving up in the train room.) Thursday, "Finish the shelving, get that done, then come in to work on Friday. So that's exactly what has happened. Got more shelving up. Sure was a pain though. The wall is stucco with a "thin coat" of plaster applied over it. Sometimes the stucco is worse than cement, then depending where you go through their maybe chicken wire, or sheet metal. Fortunately did not get into any plumbing!
So with the additional shelves have more space on the layout, but still have too many trains, need to get rid of some. If I don't I wont be able to buy anymore! So will have to start weeding.
Prayers for those in need!! Hope you all have a great weekend!!
Don
Dennis,
Welcome back.
I installed my Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade today, and I love it. The issues that Vista had are gone, and all of the great Aero features are still here. W7 is much faster all around as well. I will be going to a Greenberg show tomorrow, so I am looking forward to more Flyer. I want a four piece 302, but I might just be able to afford a 332 Northern. I am keeping my fingers crossed on that one.
Thanks guys. We were blessed with Mom for these many years. Spoke with a friend from the FD tonight who has lost both parents. His were both deteriorating before him. Watched the health just continue to go down and the concerns go up. In the end, there is something to be said for a quick demise. After having spoke with Mom's cardiologist who is a friend of mine, we are going to pull her records and do a joint M&M which is a morbidity and mortality conference. Plan is for our group down here to review the case, operative report, etc., and to highlight any concerns. Perhaps we can all learn something from this and prevent another family from such an outcome.
I will be home alone with the kids tomorrow as bride has to work one of her two days a month tomorrow. Plan is to get some layout work completed. Also, want to take care of some items in "O" that have come in recently. Need to oil some wheels, etc. Another thing, today I got the latest OGR, so I hope to spend a little time in the "reading room".
Again, thanks for the kind thoughts.
Dennis

Ole Timer I installed WIN7 and I love it over vista ... you will too . Microsoft gave me the $49.00 deal since I beta tested it . You can use 180 + gigs of ram with it if you want to and it uses every bit .... unlike vista with only 3 gigs useable . Makes everything soar with just a few extra gigs !!!!
Surprisingly, the new 32-bit versions of Windows 7 still have the same upper memory limits as the old 32-bit Vista, although they do make more efficient use of that first 4 GB of RAM. Only in the 64-bit versions, has the upper limit of physical RAM actually increased from 128 GB in Vista to 192 GB for Windows 7.
Another sunny day in the low 60's here. We are going to run out of days like this pretty soon.
Results came back form my wife's x-rays - possible misalignment between the 4th and 5th lumbar. If things don't improve with the prednazone treatment, the next step is a MRI for a better diagnosis. At least there appears to be a cause. When the cause is known, options for correction become available.....
Pat - I was having similar thoughts while I was looking for a parts list or diagram. I was also wondering if it has anything to do with the actual manufacture of the product being contracted to an overseas company. Anyhow, it is what it is, and there is not much we can do about it, so why waste time worrying or getting upset about it.
I've slipped. Didn't make my weekly visit to my LHS yet. Have to work that into tomorrow's errands.
Later all.
HI GYZ,
HAROLD BROWN, to DA POT!!! Hope you don't get too soggy?
DENNIS, prayers still going out for you on the PRAYER TRAIN,TOOT TOOT!!
CHIEF, Got my DASH 9 Dummy. WOW!!!! Lashed it up and really a neat thing to see. Had it running as the 2nd unit. Question, when it is in the second position facing reverse, and you put it in reverse my headlight comes on but if I activate the horn the ditch lights won't work, is this normal? The ditch lights work when I adress the engine and toot horn, but in lashup going in reverse as a B unit they don't.
Stay frosty,

PS NO PILE UPs!
Mornin' boys. Damp and 54 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Looks like shopping is the order of the day.
sir james - Glad your boy is doing better.
dbaker - I think I have room for half-a-dozen 4-axle diesels...preferably 70's era equipment...Proto 2...
Speaking of Proto 2, got a MTH question : In their '10 Vol 1 catalog, they offer their Premier diesels with highrail or scale wheels. The hirail wheels operate on O-42 track...the scale wheels operate on O-31 track (with a fixed pilot). Think that's a typo?
A little damp here today. Going PHEASANT HUNTIN with BRO this afternoon.
FIFE, the GYZ at JUSTTRAINS told me Scale Diesels will only run on 072 curves and that they have katy couplers, thats the difference.
Morning guys! Wife is at work and I have a few honey dos to get to before working on the railroad. Breakfast is in order and I think it looks like Waffles today. Ever notice how a dog can sense your feelings? These times that I have been down, our dog jumps right on the couch next to me....does not beg for attention, just is there for me.
Fife, we will be making plans to travel back to NJ in December and to DC in the early spring. Hopefully, one of those times would be great for some of us here to meet for a little rail-fan stuff in Roanoke and the area.
God Bless,Dennis
Good Morning
Sunny and going to 65, unusal but I'll take it.
Granny's doing some house cleaning and christmas decorating. I could not figure out why so soon then I remembered that her sunday school ladies are coming on Dec. 12. Ah-ha now the lite comes on. Saturday football for me, you guys do your thing. S.J.
laz - Yeah, it didn't make sense in the "features" column. A fixed pilot means no coupler swing = larger radii required. I ordered the hi-rail version, which is traditionally a few dollars less, and runs on O-31. Thanks. Oh, BTW, Cutler looked pitifull...
dwiemer - I 'm only 5-10 minutes from I-95, so a "drive-by" in December is very do-able.

Dennis I think thats true for all pets as our cats also know when something is bothering us and will come lay next/on to us. To try and comfort us. Seen it many times. Animals are a lot smarter than most give them credit for.
Morning all Had bacon, eggs, and toast for breakfast.
Not much going on here this am wife has some erans for me to run but thats it.
Talked to doug,sj,and brutus for a while last night didn't fix and world problems but we tried lol

OUCH !!! Got my fingers smacked .... yea you're right .... what I should have stated ...

Ole Timer, while I agree with you about Windows 7 being an improvement over Vista, your comment about the usable memory limit in Vista is not quite accurate. The infamous 3 GB limit in Vista only applied to the 32 bit versions. The 64-bit versions of Vista could make full use of up to 128 GB of physical memory. I’ve been using 8 GB of RAM in a 64-bit Vista system for over two years now. Good morning all, went for a longer walk than usual this morning and stopped to look at a few yard sales but nothing that I needed. Air was nice and cool this morning with a 48 degree temp. but followed by warming sun for rest of the day. We had a nice get together this passed Thursday night at my train layout. Looked at some train videos and ate some junk food for snacks. One video I liked was about the Southern Pacific narrow gauge line in the Owens Valley of California. Nice to see the little 10 wheeler steam engines with whale back tenders romping around. One of the engines is on display now at Laws on the Eastside of the Sierras and I hear may be restored to running. I hope so. My new MTH woodside passenger cars including the add on cars were a big hit with the guys. They look good with lights off in the room and the car lights showing brightly.
Don, glad you got your shelves up. I need to do some more of that too or start getting rid of stuff. I'm being eaten alive with empty boxes and no more room on the layout for anything else either.
Looking forward to Cal Stewart meet on November 20th. and San Diego trip over Thanksgiving week end.
Dennis hope things are settling down for your family after what you folks have been through. Prayers for you.
Have a good week end,
Ray

Aloha all from a beautiful, sunny Crystal Lake where I just finished painting the garage again. Must be in the 70s. Probably the last day of it. This time the paint is whiter than brown - we have a sort of tannish house... May my bride find it acceptable because it all looks the same to me! Prayers for your bride, 8ntruck! Don B, glad you had a few unexpected days off. Dennis Fife et al, I'll be going out east in a few weeks - across 80, up 95 to Connecticut. Probably will be passing to your NJ, Pennsy favorite places. Great chatting last night with some of the guys! Join us sometime on Yahoo Messenger! Off to drag the youngest outside. Maybe a nap later.

Back from the lake. Got to rush to a dinner meeting with new School Board members. Got delayed in Dr.'s office get 4 stiches in end of one of my fingers on my right hand. Gashed it open when I jumped from a floating dock section onto the ramp of our big dock that was way out in the water. Used dock section to float me out and the ramp was as close as I could get. Ramp is treated wood and was wet and slick. Slid down ramp and caught edge with hands. Got wet up to the waist but did not have to swim. Went up dock and started cranking winch cable and saw blood dripping on the dock. Looked down and finger was gashed open. Just kept on and let it bleed for about ten minutes. When dock got to shore, took out hanky and used int and pressure to stop bleeding. Then about an hour later, bandged it and drove home. Got home and it had bled through. Went to urgent care and DR. said, would not heal as ends would not meet unless stiched. Now I have a great big bandage on my finger as big as a cast. Have to type with two fingers on right hand.
Dennis, lets shoot for a spring Roanoke trip. Dec. too busy. You know here I live and where the lake house is if you need a pit stop at any time.
Got to change and hit the road. Later.
BTW: ditch lights do not work if unit is set up a back unit and in reverse. Will if lead unit.

Evening all just got off the phone with a young lady I call my little sister haven't seen her in 7 years she lives down in Tallahassee, FL. (I call her about twice a year) We use to joke and kid around a lot she worked in the bakeshop with me at night. All was good she been aproved for her disability finally.
Not much else going on here tonight I did run a couple of my trains tonight a little on a test track so that was cool. back and forth and did some blowing the horn. think I'm going to get a 2' x 8' or so section set up and start a little switching area maybe do the whole 11' long and see how that goes. Need to get the new board and coil couplers from Lionel for the NYC and that way I can run it and use it for switching manuvers right now after about 20 minutes of command mode it goes into conventional so you know what happens when a engine in conventional mode all of a sudden gets 18 volts lol
I still have my GP-38 thats TMCC so theres one anyway thats good. I plan on start getting TMCC and sound for about 3 more engines and put it in myself. ( 2 williams and a weaver)So it will take me up to 5 but thats one at a time so it will be awhile befor all are done.
Oh well time will tell. I just need to get away from Ebay and Choochoo lol
Talk to you all later

Wife's comments, "Don't you know you are not 25 anymore?" "Nope, but I am 63."
Time for some pain meds I had left over from a surgery. Finger did not hurt that bad until Dr. stiched it.
Bet I could still eat a bag of popcorn.
Later
Jim,
You would have loved the show that I went to today. Tons of Flyer. One seller had the Northern Pacific 490, 491, and 493 that were Mint. I am still drooling. LOL
My feelings about a Flyer 332 coming into my collection were right on the money. I went to the show today, and there were not one but two 332ACs. Both were priced at $400, but the vendor I got mine from came down to $360. However there is a small problem. When the vendor picked it up so I could get a better look, he grabbed the engine and just let the tender dangle. At that point, I just about hit the floor, and my suspicions were confirmed when I tried to run it once I got home. The harness between the engine and tender is damaged. I called the seller and left him a message since he said to let him know if there are any problems. Hopefully, he'll make it right. If not, it is a simple fix.
I also found the four piece Flyer 302 that I have been hunting for a long time. I got it for $40, and it just needs a general servicing.
I also got David Doyle's Flyer book, so I'll have my head buried in that during my free time.
NO PEASANTS todat all corn stil up. We heard a lot cackling but all in corn, must be havin a good time. Anyways, came home had fire with BRO and WIFE, came i ran trains for 2hrs, NO PILE UPs, all is good with dfa WORLD.

Popcorn eaten. Yankee Dr. put a bandage as big as a cast on it. His mistake. Not my trigger finger. BTW: Pitt beat ND. Yuz Giz in PA should be happy.
Hope you heal up fast, Chief - treated lumbar can give you a nasty cut. Don't get salt in the wound from that popcorn!
Worked 6 OT this morning, then shopped till I dropped at the new Walmart Supercenter here in town. Then I reclinerized while trying to watch The 13 Ghosts, an old corny ghost movie - kind of like Leave it to Beaver meets Scooby Doo, lol. Finally went out to dinner and had a stromboli grinder and a greek salad, then to Borders and a game store for my son.
Ran late talking with the guys last night and didn't make it to the coffee pot, but Mike kindly drove and Patrick navigated, so all was not lost - thanks men! Tardis is ready tonight and picked up A&W and banilla for some rootbeer floats too Also have Old Mills, Miller Lites (bottles), and some Irish Red from Sam Adams on hand. Wayback circuit should get us through this
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Morning. Did not sleep good even with meds. Getting ready to go to Wilmington NC [wifey driving] for Grandsons' dedication at their church. Then back home. Have a great day.
