Mom is doing well with her cast – just can’t stop her – ball o’fire.
Went to Newark to see the NEW arena and my DEVILS, who crushed the Ducks. I made an appearance on the ice to shoot for a new car. Missed the net on the first shot, but hit the net on the second – but not in that tiny hole they had. Nice facility – was duly impressed. Was escorted on the ice by a nice young Devils Dancer from Long Island, and a good time was had by all.
The weather was wonderful Monday & Tuesday, was in a T-Shirt in NYC Monday for the NYU tour. We rode NJ Transit; those new Bombardier double decker coaches are really nice. An AMD (toaster) was pulling one and on the return I think it was an HHP. The Princess wants to go there, and we lined up the information needed. Looks interesting, just need her to get on board for the homework and it should work. 1.5 years left to make it happen.
Left Saturday at 1100 AM got back at 0155 AM Sunday – 15 hours and I drove 13 of ‘em, so I’m still jet lagged a bit.
Desk full of paperwork, just cleared out my “INBOX”, so I still have more to do.
OK much to do so little time – will check back later!

I will be posting photos in this week's thread as soon as they are done uploading. I have put work on the layout on hold due to the Flyer addiction. You just don't realize how great Flyer is until you start to get into it.

What a weekend! Number 2 son is now married and everything went great, had family from both coast's fly in (EVEN nort caroliner) and we just had a fantastic time. We had a hospitality suite next to our room and we just had a wonderful time visiting with everyone before and after the wedding. We went up to MPLS on Thursday and I'm glad we did, we had everything set up so we could just relax and enjoy everyone when they arrived. We got home last night tired and happy, I've been busy this morning doing laundry and hitting the Y for a hard work out, fortunately I was able to work out at the hotel every day except yesterday.
Sadly I see that the Hawkeye's lost a nail biter on Saturday. I'm actually surprised the score was that close as they were using a red shirt freshmen at quarter back. Oh well, at least I won't have to see them embarassed at the Rose Bowl, seems like the Big 10 struggles at that bowl. The bigger news, however, is that the #1 high school basketball player in the country, from Ames, Iowa signed a NC letter of intent to play BB there next year. Remember this name, Harrison Barnes, he's an incredible kid with athletic skills and brains that surpass mere mortals. He picked out NC because of it's business school and BB program, he plans to graduate in 3 years, he's that kind of kid.
Getting ready to head west to Sandy Eggo, the boss has clients out there that she visit's three to four times a year and this time I actually have no conflicts so I'm tagging along. We are both very tired after this weekend but that's the way it goes, I haven't been in SD since 1984 and we are really looking forward to relaxing after she is done with her work on Thursday. We hope to hook up with Doug to see his museum and possibly Don B.
Need to keep moving before I fall asleep in this chair!

Jon, Glad to hear that all went well. According to the weather guessers it is supposed to very pleasant for the rest of the week, warm days/cool evenings. Actually had to turn on the furnace for a bit this morning, 40*. I'll be working the museum on friday and saturday, lots of people heading to Pasadena for CalStewart so we are a bit short on operators this weekend.
Let me know when you want the museum tour and/or run time.
Gotta go check on the pasta for dinner, later all.

Great pick-up Sir J! Looking forward to a report on how it looks and runs.
I could read the forum while the site was down for maintenance, but could not post. Not a matter of life or death, so it is no biggie.
Started out low 60's and cloudy on Saturday and deteriorated from there. Sunday was 50's and rain, today was 40's and more rain. So far so good, as the drains have not backed up in the basement.
Picked up a rechargeable electric lawnmower at a reasonable end of season price. Mowed my yard and my neighbor's open lot of his double lot with the mower in mulching mode on Saturday. Still had charge to spare when I was done. Looks like it is going to work OK.

Got my missile firing trail car disassembled and cleaned up. The latches work a little better. The latches need gravity to make them work. Think I'll add some small springs to help gravity along. The repop missiles I have ordered ought to be showing up about Wednesday. Guess I'll have something new to post on SPF.
Picked up more meds for my wife today at lunch. She is doing better, but still not able to go back to work this week. MRI scheduled for Thursday. This should give direction for further treatment.
Aerotrain and maiden rescue are supposed to ship in November. Hopefully.....

I am not sure where you are in Ohio, but if you are interested in making the trip for the show in February, let me know. There were 332s, and 336s at very reasonable prices, and I am sure they will be back in Feb. I saw my 332AC laying on the table, and that was it. My BP spiked as I frantically dug for my wallet. $360 later I've got the steamer of my dreams. Big and impressive just doesn't do these locomotives justice. I can't wait to run it on the Christmas layout.
I am looking for another item now. I really want a 760 Highway Flasher, and I passed on two at the show to get Doyle's book. Don't get me wrong, the book is great, but a 760 would be nicer.
Rain storms tonight, but most of the heavy stuff seems to have passed for a little while. Sorry I missed the chat Jim, catch you tomorrow.

Haven't been here for a few days, typically by the time I get around to turning on the computer, checking emails, forums, etc., then start to run out of gas! Then try to think of something to post, and I can't think of anything that wouldn't bore everyone to tears. So just read everything. Also, realize that the longer it is between times I post the more difficult it is to come up with something.
Had a couple of interesting items tonight. A guy I met last spring at a train show builds helix's for HO and N scale. Asked him about O scale, he said he was wanting to get into it, so we talked a bit. He subsquently came over, gave him a real good intro to O scale, and sent him away with a lot of information, a few sections of various curve track. We also came up with a couple of designs for the train club, but that didn't work out. (Club blew it.) So he called last night and is going to have a booth at the upcoming Cal Stewart meet next weekend. He has a O scale helix done, and will have it on display, and will be selling self assembly kits. So going over to check it out Tues night. The one he built is for 72" radius and has a 84" footprint. Should really be interesting. Will try to get some pictures. Then he told me he names the products after someone or something that has inspired him to make it.
Been working with the shelves I put up last week, but ran into a small problem. When mounting the uprights to the stucco walls, ended up with an error of 1". Which has created a significant frustration. I dont want to drill anymore holes in the wall, so trying to work around it. Got the problem down to about a 1/4" I need o resolve. (Problem is I want two levels of track on one shelf, the shelf supports interfere with the height of the cars. Think I have a solution will know soon.)
Hope to meet up with Jon, while he is here. Will just have to see what happens, we are hearing possibility of rain on Friday, hopefully forecast is in error.

Quick stop over on my way to do a case this morning. Been reading up on all the posts I missed while in NJ. A good number of new faces around. It is a good thing. Got some new ideas to add to the layout...I see why these things are never really done. Hope it is a great day for all.

It is cloudy, rainy and cool in SE Indiana, but the wind is blowing most of the remaining leaves.....elsewhere. I went to the YMCA last night to do weights, treadmill and soccer drills. I cut down on the amount of weights, only did a half mile and very few soccer touches before I just gave up. The body just hurt too bad and refused to move. Maybe a coupld of days of downtime are what I need. Did spend some time on Second Life talking to a civil war re-enactor. Fascinating information. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it to "Points East". TBIL, and I can drive again after "V" (hope it gets better soon). I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all. Fair and cool but not cold. We have had one light frost and no freeze yet. Off to Dr. to get big bandage off and finger checked. The only good thing about this big bandage is protects the finger. I bet I bag the little bandage and my the finger hurt. Need to service my pickup before the rain comes tonight and tomorrow. Jim – That is a very good price for a 332. You did very well. The 760 flashers are neat. (do I sound like a broken record?). Make sure you get the 697 trips, you’ll need two and the ones with the ceramic pads are better than the plastic ones when you can find them.

Chief, thanks for the video of water problems at Kerr Lake. I got a call from sister in Suffolk, Virginia yesterday telling me about the storm problems in Southeastern Virginia. She said they had flooding on the main street in Portsmouth, Virginia for a few blocks near the Elizabeth River. I think she said they had more than a couple of feet of water from rain and high tides. In all my growing up years there, I never saw the water rise that much. I heard stories from old timers about how the water was waist deep in the ferry terminal but that was probably back in the 30's or something.
I had an interesting evening last night. My son and I went to a preview for invited guest of "A Holiday of Trains Festival" at the Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace in Yorba Linda, California. I was honored to have my prewar number 116 station displayed on the layout. It is a very large layout built in layers like a birthday cake with trains running at a lot of different levels and several gauges with the Standard Gauge and G gauge in front gradually fading away from the viewer to HO in the most distant places. There was also a very large Lego layout with many outstanding features including large skyscraper type buildings made from legos, suspension bridges, windmill farms etc etc and lots of trains. The Chloe narrow gauge steam engine owned by the late Ward Kimball of Disney fame was also at the museum next to the presidential helicopter but was not displayed at the preview. It will however be available for viewing starting today with the regular schedule. Lots of refreshments including delicious cookies and coffee along with small "slider" hamburgers were served to the guest. There was also live music provided in the White House East Room Replica at the Library. Said hello to our TCA Western Division club president Wayne Shierff, Bob Lemberger and other club volunteers who were there to kick off the event with the press et al. A good time was had by all. The show will be open to the public starting today through January 6th I believe.
Doug Da grump, what is the schedule for the San Diego train museum in Balboa Park for the Thanksgiving weekend? I will be in San Diego for the Dixieland Jazz festival from Nov. 26 to Nov. 28th and might drop by if I get a chance.

Ray, The museum will be closed on Thanksgiving Day but reopen on friday, the "Kid's Club" will be running the layout that day. Kids and sometimes trains change every hour.
Also the LEGO group should(?) be up and running for the Christmas Season thru mid Jan.
