Evening all and welcome newcomers!

Jim T – Congrats on the 1000 posts!  I enjoy talking Gilbert with you!

Jon – I agree on the pants thing.  I am amazed at just how long it can take my bride to shop.  Oh I think I get it.  They shop, we buy.

Wes and Buckeye – Sure wish things would of worked out for me to be with you.  Maybe next time.  Be careful driving.

Hope all you guys at York have a good time and hopefully are able to get some of the things you “need”.

May God bless

Jim

I am officially wiped out!  Had a couple of emergent cases last night and did not get home to bed till almost 2.  Had to turn around and head in for a 0730  case this morning and am now just getting home.  Did manage to sneak a peak at the pot while I was in between emergencies.  Anyway, glad to be home and looking forward to some sleep.

Chief, those photos are really something.  Especially considering how the dock area was flooded for so long earlier in the year.  Aroung this state, they mentioned that Lake Lanier is full and so are some of the other reservoir lakes that they use for water to HotLanta.  Currently, we are under a severe thunderstorm and tornado watch.

Really want to get to some layout work and finishing that building I am in progress on.  Hope to get that done this weekend.  Also have the wedding of the pastor's daughter and some other things on the agenda.  Missed the Marine Corps Silent drill team demonstration tonight because of working too late.  Oh well, will have to wait till next time.  They are spectacular and we have seen them several times.

Hope everyone has a great night.

Dennis

I think I see a new visitor to the "Pot".  Welcome and sit down and stay awhile.  Nice to see visitors on the "Pot" [but did notice not a new comer].  Become family and post as much as you like.

Howard, how are the APPLES in RI?  Bet they have a little frost on them by now.

Congrats! Back from errands. Mde my wife laugh when we went to buy pants for me. I went up to the rack, picked a pair, then to the register - let's go. Total elapsed time: 8 minutes. Apart from that it is a miserable - cold, wet, gloomy - day.

Doug -- I had to laugh when I read the above post.  When our sons would go shopping (teen years) they learned after one shopping experience that DAD was the one to go shopping with--know what you want, know your size,  DAD "does it fit? do you like it? OK, let's get it and get out of here".  Whereas Mom would want to hit at least 3-5 stores and end up at store one, case closed.  Now that they are 30 & 34 they still shop like that!  I always shop alone and do just fine, I do not want my wife with me and I don't want to go with her ....... I guess that's why we are still married after 37 years Laugh

I'm also sending you one more day of depressing weather, not sure what the sun looks like.

Jon

10 minutes. that's all it took me to find you.

But it screwed up and started putting the Euro sign in place of the 'e'.

Now another 10 minutes and it's beginning to behave.

Can't stop this damned double spacing when I press the 'enter' key.

I don't want to see any of the naughtiness that's going around, I prefer things like my first GRITter sighting and other lovely nonsense.

Going to add this page to 'favourites' and see what happens.

Going to Chatsworth Saturday to take some pic's of the Autumn tints, the ones around here are outstanding this year.

Chief,

I can't believe that I am at 1k posts. That six years went fast, but it couldn't have gone any better. I wouldn't even still be here if it wasn't for my fellow members who make this such a great place. Thank you.

Jim,

        Congrats on the 2k posts.

I got the one track on the layout fixed, so I started moving the trains from the pool table to the layout. As I was putting some cars on an inner loop, I forgot how close my left elbow was to an MTH passenger car on the outer loop. It went to the floor, but the only damage was a small scuff and a light bulb fell out of its socket. I need to get some plexiglass installed on the edge of the layout asap, or run the Lionel CC GG1 set on that loop.ShockOops

Jim, you need to reply to this post and you will have 1K. Approve

Afternoon all.  Busy day.  Chilly and wet.  State Fair started today.  Now to go home from Town Hall and run trains.  Can't do any work outside.  Chat later.

Morning All.....things here are the same, new car is running greatso I guess I made a good buy. Daughter took her PSAT's yesterrday and all went well. She took them at the school she was in last year even though we couldn't afford to send her there this year. Eveybody welcomed her back with open arms and I think made her feel comfortable. (wouldn't have gotten that from a public school) She was happy when I picked her up and felt she did good on the test. Now we'll see how this home schooling goes this year and God willing we can get her back in Calvary Academy next year.

Good luck and SAFE TRIP to all those going to York, hope ya all find good deals. Don't know what happened here on the forum but if somebody wants to let me know it would be appreciated, my email is in my profile I think. Rain cold and big winds forcast fo today , first noreaster this season. Pool Guys showed up yester day to close the pool 10 days early but thats good for me cause this storm comming would have just filled it with leaves and junk so I'm glad the cover is on. ...... Steve

Morning guys - taking it easy watching some cartoons with my son.  He's eating pretty well now and seems to be really back to his old self.  Still having some congestion and a slight temp, so we'll keep him home through the weekend just to be safe.  Thanks for all the prayers.  Love that mule team!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Aloha all. Cold and rainy here - all that Iowa weather I'm sending off to Indiana and Michigan. Hope the mule train has finally made it to York. Jim "Stur-Fish" has made 2001 great posts and I'm glad to have read every one. Don, great news about your van. I bought ours from a rental company that Rich is familiar with Wink and it has been great. As you all said, it's a bit of a die-roll. Nice chat with Charlie and Brutus last eve.  Boy, that lake sure looks purdy. And Lucy is getting bigger. Brent, now my bride wants me to look for local wineries to visit. I dunno, Illinois is not known for its vintages.  Running trains later today. Going to try to take apart my 'modern' MTH semaphore - the green wire came out of the bottom... Hope you are feeling better John!

It’s TGIF-EVE – thank God....Angel

Up to 81 today, but when I left the estate, humidity up to 97%!!!!Banged Head

Very gray today, threatening rain later.  Looks like Biketoberfest is going to be cold and rainy.  Still don’t have the HOG yet.

I have some train stuff listed on the O-ther forum, need it gone and have to make some cash.  The Rome trip for the Princess is fast approaching – and no car sales means no moolah.  If it comes down to it, may have to sell off some of MY stuff – NOT what I want.  Anyone interested in Hot Wheels?  I have a few er, THOUSAND or so...

Jim Phish – Why, 2K?  Congas on your accomplishment!!!

Gotta love modern technology – typing on a typewriter with a 20 mule team doing 70 on the Interstate, on 1 wheel, says a lot about YANKEE ingenuity!

Angel for Mrs Brutus and all that needs ‘em

Nice NASCAR Hall of Fame inductions – Fife agrees with #43!!!

Check ya later!

Mornin' Fellas

Been away for a few again. This past weekend SusieQ and I headed North to New York (doesn't have the same ring to it as North to Alaska) to visit the Finger Lakes region. Headed out Friday morning in a near torrential downpour which stayed with us from MD through Williamsport, PA. From there it was just a light drizzel. Stopped at the Corning Museum of Glass, that was neat, a bit pricey for what we did but neat. From there we headed out toward Bath, NY and then up to Hammondsport on the southern tip of Keuka Lake. Stopped at Pleasant Valley Winery (first bonded winery in the USA), took a tour had a tasting bought a case of wine. From there we headed to Naples, NY to the B&B (arrived around 4:30)... dinner was at 5:30 so we did that (had a bottle of wine) and got back to the B&B around 6:45, hit the hay at 7:00 and didn't wake up till 6:00am! 11 hours of sleep!

Saturday we headed out around 10:00 and stopped at Widmer Winery in Naples (home of Taylor and Maneschewitz (sp) wines), had a tasting, bought a case. From there it was a short jaunt over to Keuka Lake's Western Shore and a visit at Dr. Kronks (or something like that), tasting and bought a few bottles there. Then it was more driving, more tastings, more buying... till 5:00pm. In 7 hours we visited 8 wineries and had purchased a total of 4 cases of wine... in all 9 wineries visited and 5 cases of wine found their way into our trunk and now our house. Thumbs Up

Monday the electrician was out and got the outlets, switches, ceiling fans, and new subpanel installed. Just waiting to get the sunroom exterior completed and then I can hang the exterior lights. Still need to finish the drywall in the sunroom and then prime and paint. Working on the pocket door now to hopefully get the sunroom sealed off from the rest of the house to cut down on the heating bill. Then have to do the trim work in the sunroom and then install the floor. Also need to reattach the siding on the house under the screened porch and hang the railings. Still looking at about 1.5 months before it is all done and ready. Hope to have it finished by Christmas.

Looking forward to dinner tonight.

Good luck & shopping to everyone at York, it's now been 3 years since we were there, what a fascinating and interesting experience, sure looking forward to going back some day.  The only thing I buy for our layout any more are people, I think I have enough locomotives but there is always room for rolling stock.

Have a great time and be sure and post some pics Clown

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and rainy and cold in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s.  Went to the YMCA.  Did weights, treadmill, and some soccer drills.  Watched "Glee".  The "saucy wench" got most of the room painted and will finish up today.  Been reading lots of e-mails lately as many of the rest of you have as well.  Work has been a bear, and as I was writing this, I got some more stuff dumped on me.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it to "Points East".  TBIL, and I may need some Old Mils tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hey Chuck!  Just passing Cambridge now...at 70MPH.

One wheel fell off the wagon (we got this wagon at a NC swap meet).

I have $5 extra to spend at york.  I should be able to get a MTH NS boxcar and locomotive and still have money for the PA toll...

Chief...please not that your typewriter doesn't work in the car like mine.

Hello all

Laz, only rain so far, could get "some" accumulation in the mountains.

Depending on what the front does they are worried about lots of wet snow breaking down trees Friday night and Saturday.

Safe travel and good hunting to all those who are headed to York. Maybe I'll join you one of these years

Prayers to all who may need them
