It is cloudy, cool and rainy in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s. Took the day off and went shopping at Columbus, IN with the "saucy wench". Got stuff for the house. Saw where Menards had some Lionel sets, but that was all. (Same set Bed, Bath, and Beyond had last year). Nothing at Target yet. It was a good day but a long one. We shopped til we dropped. I had waffles and link sausages on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL, but some one else will have to drive. I hope everyone has a good day.

Chilly 40s all day.
Well I spent half the day at the train store, got a short nap and then all of our little family were here for stuff peppers, mashed potatoes, the works. Lucky for me they all disappeared as soon as the kitchen was clean. Love em, but ah the quiet is wonderful too.

Getting psychic up by running trains for an hour, pre YORK RUN. All ran great NO PILE UPs! Off to YORK tomorrow at 630, take wife to DENNYs for breakfast then to the meet. Afterwards going to stop at local beer distributor and pick up a case or two of NATTY BO BEER. This is the one sign from MILLER ENG. that I will purchase at YORK. Drank this when going to MILLERSVILLE, bought it for .99 cents a six pack, hey I was in school. Hope WES & BUCKEYE made it home safe out of the snow storms of pA?

Hope all is going well. The Kids with other Grandparents for an overnight. I am going to Columbus in the morning for some deaconate continuing ed. This is what got in the way of going to York with Wes and Buckeye. The director made it clear that anything short of you own funeral was unacceptable excuse for missing the session.
Had to break down and turn on the furnace this evening. This is the earliest we’ve fired it up in years.

Don -- I meant to tell you that Kurt's car arrived last week, nice looking car. I'll try and get some pics up ASAP. Off to northern IA for the final week of marching band competitions, glad that it's almost over but yet it's been fun. Next weekend is the All State competition and I have a very l o n g drive, I will hear 57 trumpets (cream of the crop) and choose 7 +2 alternates. Very stressful day for the kids that have been working long hours since August (or for that matter, most of their young high school lives) but it's a reward that can't be matched.

After reading your post regarding the semaphore, I was going to check mine tonight. Then I happened to talk with John Fullerton, and he and Ray are at York, walking thru. Asked John if he could go by MTH's booth and ask them about access, then possibly report on the forum what he finds. No problem. So if he calls me I will ask him to ask MTH if they know anything about the Lionel one two. LOL

You know, I'm wrong about this semaphore - it is a Lionel Mainline Automatic Operating Semaphore #6-22944. The manual essentially says you're sunk if it doesn't work. And the base just has rivet-like clips that I can't open. But I'll display it somewhere. I've got an MTH #151 I'll try to replace it with - I just have to figure out its wiring. It has both a lockon and the MTH-equivalent to a 153 controller.
Back on the hill and a nice day up here. We figured out the brake issue after a number of hours. Was a bad relay in the Krupp Rack (controls the operation of the scope). We even had a spare. It took a lot of sleuthing and deciphering German engineering, but we know a lot more about that part of the system. Waiting for the boss to get up so we can start installing the subreflector.
Need to go find breakfast. Safe travels and happy hunting to all those headed to York!

Just stopping by for a quick post.Met up with Buckeye, Wes, and Roy last night for dinner. Had a great time. SusieQ joined us and seemed to have a good time as well.Everyone asked where Fife was and I mentioned his post about not attending due to not being able to see at night when it is raining... The best response came from SusieQ 'Why? Would he break a fingernail?' Looks like PA is getting some nice weather for a change!

I figured out I can't take the MTH modern semaphore apart to try to soder the red and green wires back in. I guess it becomes just a static display. It had no screws and visible access points.

Morning all [almost noon]. Back from neighboring town and there Coummunity Center ribbon cutting. Used old NG Armory [got it for $1]. Remodeled and looks great. One guy talked and talked and talked.
Chilly and damp here. BURR Yanks, take back your cold weather.
Storgey of Oree-gon, not normal draw down for us. Now up in the NC mountains, Fontana Lake [TVA lake] goes way down to hold spring rains and prevent flooding. Normally not too much draw down unless a hurricane is coming.
Banks, if you get a chance, shoot some NS photos for us. You are in a great location. Stay warm up there in PA.

SJ, 34 degrees!!!!!!! Sounds like you need a bowl of warm grits. Actually they are calling for 39 and 36 here next week. We usually get a chilly "snap" about this time and then warms back up for several weeks.

Is the three position semaphore the type that you are having trouble with? If it is, there should be some screws on the underside of the base.
Morning everyone. Quite the storm rolled through last night. Lots of thunder boomers and cut the power about 2am. Wife was concerned she wouldn't wake up on time, went to another room and set clocks, tried to sleep, but couldn't. She is tired too. Both kids are done about noon today, so she will pick them up and go to one of those indoor play parks.
Have layout work to do today. Plan is to do that after the wedding this afternoon. Also want to get a lot done tomorrow. So much to do, yet so little time. Well, have to get my daily reading done. Hope everyone has a blessed day.

Cold wet Friday morning here. Rainy, snowy weekend predicted, may be forced to work on trains this weekend. Or get my new front door installed. I had planned on cleaning the furnace and chimney Saturday.
Sunday is a Train Show in Bedford, about 30 mile south of me. I'm planning to be there when they open at 9:00 AM. I'm not sure how many dealers will be there. Most will probably be at York.

Have not had time to read over all the posts since I have been gone. Will get to that later. The main thing is the Yankees are sending cold and wet weather down here. Wet we could use. Cold, you can keep. If this keeps up, I am sending Kurt, Sturg and SJ a C130 full of GRITS. BTW, watched Trains and Locomotives on RFD-TV. They were talking about the Northerns [locomotives]. Said the C&O renamed them something [can't remember] as it was a good old SOUTHERN railway. Ohio Southern????? Speaking of rain and we need it. Here are some photos of Kerr Lake and it is as low as it has been in years. Do not know if the Corps of Engineers messed up the new "curve" or what. My work partner Lucy is coming up from the big dock I have been working on. She stays right with her Dad or close by all day long. You can see one to the concrete anchors that was dropped in the water when the dock was put there [left side of dock]. Normally you can not see it. Normally at full pool the dock is right where the upside down section is close up in photo. From the ramp. BTW: you can see my big dock off in the distance. Daddy's partner and her favorite thing. I've got you guys beat - years ago as a bachelor I went into work one day and asked my cube-mate what features were required for a washing machine. The old beast I had inherited from my Nana had died. She told me what features I wanted, said to get the gentle cycles etc in case I got a female roomate or wife down the line (which I did, about a year later), etc. So I picked up the phone, told the lady at Sears what I wanted, she told me about 2 models that were heavy duty and had all those features. I picked one and they delivered it the next day and took the old one out. No actual shopping involved and that washer lasted about 16 years without a hitch. My friend at the time said, don't you want to see it? I said, is it white and does it have knobs? Yep. No, that's okay, just deliver it! My wife would NEVER let me do this now, lol! BUT, I'm generally the one who ends up picking out the appliance we get!

40s all day, a whole week of 60s has been taken from us.
Just talked to Brutus on the phone, short chat but always a pleasure.
Doug we know how to shop. Did the same thing last time I needed socks. Wife says don't you want to look around. I said why I got what I came for. And out we went. I really should go back to the train store tomorrow and help out but I have had a busy week and am tired. I probably will go though. Maybe.

Harold - I have the same experience, so switched to drilling and using screws a long time ago. If the screw doesn't want to grip, stick some pieces of wood or plastic or something in there and it will be fine, esp with a some of the liquid nails I'm certainly no expert, but I get by well enough.
Cobrabob - looks like a nice layout - how about some more pics?
Got a little work done on the basement today while I was home with my son. Finished that pink insulation foam job and glued it all in place (foam safe glue), then put regular insulation in a wall of the bathroom and a little closet in there. I started wiring for a light and an overhead light/fan, but need to get some supplies, so called it a day. Son is doing a lot better, but has to keep up with his advil, sudafed, prevacid etc.
I'll be back in a little bit....
