Good morning all,
It is a mixed bag in weather in SE Indiana with fog, sun and rain all on tap. Watched "my" soccer girls lose to our arch-rival 5-0 in the varsity game and 9-0 in the JV game. They play ok until they get behind and then the air goes out of them. Our varsity goalie played a whale of a game, considering all the shots that were taken at her. The boys salvaged the evening with a road win 5-0. Quiet day at work today for once. Doug M, good luck with the "move in" this weekend. If the waterfalls are bad now, wait until the last one leaves. Prayers going out to all who need them. I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning. Beacon is lit. I hope everyone (especially Sarah Fisher and AJ's team) has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Hi - All .. finally some much needed rain ... cleaned the air and dropped the temps . Have been extremely busy ... met with a group of ole train guys last weekend .... around a pool .... alot of train talk until the one young guy brought his girl-friend .... a fabulously built and cute blonde in her bikini ... the chat area emptied out and you'd have thought free engines were being given away .... I loved how they all followed and stood by the pool trying to act like they were talking to him ... watching .... all googly eyed and hypnotized ... LOL . No it was'nt obvious .... she said " hi fellows " and they all sounded like a chorus answering at the same time with those dumb smiles on their faces .... cracked me up ..... watching the slow wiggle walk she did to the pool was enough to charge my battery ... did'nt join the group drooling all around it .... LOL .
" did'nt join the group drooling all around it .... LOL ." no you probably got in the pool so they couldn't see your drool as its hard to see drool in a pool of water
Morning all had Turkey Italian Sausage with toast and eggs this am from the dinning car.
Not much going on today do have my sleep study tonight hope it finds out what has me so tired when I get up. Slept about 11 hours off and on last night still feel tired. and even took a 2 hour nap from about 5 to 7. still tired today but not as bad as have been at least.
You all have a good day see you all later

HI GYZ,
Long time NO HEAR. Sorry bout that took some time off forum to do all my chores and do some learnin. Like BUCKEYE said a while back "What I did on my summer vacation". Well this is my version of it. mowed lawns, mine and all the neighbor ladies, pulled weeds, mulched all flower beds, cleaned out ponds, cleaned out pond filters, a DIRTY JOB, cut down trees with chainsaw, cleaned up neighbor ladies trees with chain saw after big storms, put down new driveway sealer on my driveway and neighbor ladies driveway, another Dirty Job, cleanout sheds and do some rewiring in those sheds, went a fishin, and as always everyday did laz CAMP with either a 2-6 mile run followed by 40 minutes of weights, then about every other day a 8 mile bike ride. Oh yes here is what I ran every Tuesday from 7am to 6 pm.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 66 degrees. Got a little rain this morning. Going up to 80 today with rain showers off and on.
Today is an easy day. So far. If something doesn't break, wear out, or get lost. I may even retire to the train room for some train running. I have to get busy with this scenery. I keep putting it off.
Dining car was here for the usual breakfast.

Good Morning !
Glad to hear from LAZ, sounds like a busy and fun summer! Really like your Tuesday job, that would really be a hoot ! Really great pictures, thanks!
Jim, I think the major problem is primarily workmanship. When I was there, I was checking wire connections, and those that had lugs crimped on were pretty bad. Picked up the wire and the lug would spin on the wire. Also wasn't much regard to size of lug to AWG of wire. So that will be the 1st thing, also routing of wires, and location of TIU. (Essentially, may have to rework quite a bit.) I did set up a test track, but because of all the other wires, - didn't want to disconnect cause would have no idea where they went too, - but that may also be the problem as well. So will go back over this pm and see what I can do. Taking crimpers, wire kit, jumpers, meters, and books.
Kurt, One more voice for care and caution with the eventual bike.
Fife, OK, I give what new? Didn't find it ! Figured it out 3,002 posts, (sure a chatty guy, huh)
Doug M, What kind of phone service you got, and also unlimited text messaging?
RT, Good luck with the sleep test, don't forget to take your notes.
Ole Timer, One thing for sure, don't want to mix Younguns, and old train guys, bad mix. Loose a lot of train guys that way, seems their steam valves blow off very easy.
Doug dg, Havn't heard anything about the recent rounds of fires in your area, what's happen'in? Up here I'm sure Ray is getting some smoke, but hopefully its all blowing west of him! When they post the map of the fire locations the song Ring of Fire sure comes to mind. They are all around. Sometimes feel a little guilty usually at dawn or dusk, seeing the sun coming through the smoke makes for some real earrie skies. Also, one of the guys from AGHR lives really close to the Palos Verdes fire, the current evacauation, 1,000+, area is less than 2 blocks from him. (He was posting here for awhile earlier this year.)
Ray, Stay inside ! BTW, received Cal-Stewart registration in the mail. Hopefully will be able to attend.
Hopefully damage will be confined to brush and uninhabited areas and not homes or people getting hurt.
Busy day today, getting ready for this weekend show, then work on friends layout.
Later,
Don

Good Morning
Lite rain during the nite still hanging around. low 70s today.
"I didn't see him" is a very true statement. Over the years I have seen them appear like magic. Not a good feeling. And how many times have you seen them weaving through traffic 20/30 miles over the speed limit. Countless times is the answer. If you like them fine but the risk factor is very high.
Went out this morning and got granny some tomatoes for canning, my garden is just big enough for eatin. Enjoy you friday.......S.J.

Good Morning from Hot Humid & RAINY NE Florida!
Just finished my invoices for work, so now I can do other stuff....
All the kittens have homes now and I can reclaim my outside office. The (morons) Techs from ATnT finally came out and hooked up my remote computer terminal, so Monday I can get back to my private office were my real work is at. Also, cleaned and vacuumed up after the kittys left. Ahhhh, just like home.
Welcome back Laz – neat Summer VayCay....gotta like that!
Fife – Conga’s on 3K –
Kurt – Yup, ride like you’re invisible is the best advice I could give. Be patient as there are cycle deals to be had, especially there in the cold country. Start looking in December and January when cycle sales are typically slow. I’m wishing I could get on the bike, but it’s been raining off and on for the last 5 days....and tonight is bike night at the dealership and tomorrow is a charity ride for homeless/abused kids.
Jim Phish – I gotta box....
Shuttle attempt again tonight at 11:59PM, the camera will be out. After this, only 5 or 6 liftoffs left.
– for those that need ‘em!

No thilly...that's next Friday. Sheesh!
Of course, dbaker and anjdevil go direclty to the front o' da class! Now, all I need is that gold piping for the sleeve of my red crushed-valor smoking jacket.
laz - Good looking hunk o' IRON. Engine ain't bad either... Badda-BING!
Good morning all, fires seem to be out in our neck of the woods but new ones have started in La Canada and San Pedro. Air seemed clean enought for a walk this morning so I went for about 40 minutes without any bad effects. Might have to stop though if the smoke from the other fires comes this way.
Don, I will probably be at Cal Stewart too. Have'nt decided if I want to sell or not though. Thank you for the open invitation to see your layout. I might take you up on that when I can find a good day with my health needs. I take meds on Monday and Friday that keeps you near the bathroom a lot so those days are not good. I read the story about the kidnapped girl held in captivity for 18 years in the paper this morning. There has to be a special place in hell for those kind of perverts. It should take the jury about two seconds to reach a decision on that one.
Laz, glad to hear from you. Looks like you had a great summer running the Lokie and stuff. I had a chance once to take the throttle of a little saddle tank steam engine like that which was owned by a friend at the time. Sadly he has gone on to the big roundhouse in the sky now.
Chief, you have mail
Have a good day y'all,

Beautiful soaking rain day! The pastures love it, the cows love it and I love it - get to spend the day in the train building connecting street lights and Miller Electric billboards. Life is good.
Ole Timer I'll bet the blond loved every minute of it.
Most of us only play at running trains - Laz gets to live it. Anyone besides me jealous?
RT - keep your dreams clean tonight.
Hay Chief - SJ needs a load of tomatoes. I know you have plenty.
Has anyone tried this?:

Well, watered my turnips that are coming up. You guessed it. Rained within an hour and has been raining [really not forecasted] ever since. Forecast [even while it was raining], line of showers coming through. Should be gone soon. Soon must mean midnight or so. Been trying to replace the larger speed-loc connector for the Craftsman drill bits [larger bits and masonary bits]. Not on the on-line catalog. Sent email two weeks ago and no reply. Been on phone to parts. They can not help unless you have a part number. Sent Craftsman another email. BTW: Craftsman only answers the phone from 8 to 5. Sears is until 10 PM. Also now Craftsman Club gives rewards points. Now I went to sign up. Site said I did not exsist. Tried to set up as new and told me I already exsisted. Had to call them. They could not figure out. Got it going by saying I forgot my password. It emailed me a new password. Had to reset new one so I used old one and it worked. Then my account was just as I had left it months ago. They don't mind taking your $$$. Time for popcorn.
Pat, gotta love that farm humor. Bob, I used to warm my Grape Nuts and milk in the Microwave, made them more palatable.Doug, good luck with the daughter and her college experience. Chief, watch out, Those town hall meetings seem to have taken on a whole new meaning lately!Laz, great to see you back and thanks for posting the neat photos. My ambition is to be a engineer on one of the Disney trains when I retire!Fife, congratulations on 3K! Hope you are enjoying your time off.
Well, has been a long week with plenty of work to do. Tough cases, but everyone is doing well. I did get out early today, so I went and helped my son's teacher out with the class "store". Kids earn tickets for good behavior, good grades, etc. Then, they have a bin with all kinds of treats and little games, etc. that the kids can redeem the tickets for.
Regarding trains, I have had some time on the layout this week. No pileups, and plenty of fun. We are about to start on scenery. That will be loads of fun with a four and a seven year old for the help. Then again, that will be half the fun. They are as much a part of the enjoyment as the trains when we all get together.
Wife is working this weekend, so I'll be home alone with the rug rats. Try not to let them make too much of a mess as SWMBO tends to not like coming home to a messy house.I hope everyone has a blessed weekend.

Mr. Eagles--
I know this will not make you happy, but I've been been burned one to many times by Crapsman tools, I will never spend my hard earned money on their junk. Just my .02 opinion which is honestly woth .01.

So many roads, so little time.
This is for the over the hill CORNY horn blowing band teacher:
Since you are living in the middle of the CORN state, my FIL told me about a corn fired cooker. Seems he went to eat bar-be-qued chicken the other day at a buddy's. The guy had a cooker that was fueled by CORN. He took a bag of Fritos, lit them as a starter. Then added a gallon of shelled corn to a vat. The corn was fed into the "firebox" of the cooker by a rotary device. Said the chickens cooked is less time, less smoke and tasted great. Said the ash left was less than charcoal and very fine. BTW: he use the cheapest corn he could find. Now you will tell me you heat houses with corn.
Dennis, hope the whole REB family is doing well.
Good Evening
Still raining, the good kind, slow and steady.
I just had a nice visit with Charlie and his son. We ran some trains, no pile ups. All is well. The thingy is late tonite but I have banilla ready....S.J.
Mornin' boys. Mornin' Kyle Busch fan. Overcast & 73 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Looks like Danny is gonna slide by east of the coast. No sailing today = more painting. The princesses chose Isle of Capri blue, and man does it jump out atcha. Birthday party tonight over in-laws.
Morning all! I'm Mr. Mom today as wife will work today and tomorrow. Son is already up and daughter is sure to follow soon. Plan is for breakfast and homework. Once that is done, we have violin practice and then LAYOUT! That should be fun. Going to be nice out, but I doubt we will partake in the fresh air. Too much to work on at home.
Chief, family is well. Keeping busy as both kids have a lot on the calendar. Lia's birthday is coming up so we have the party to plan. We also have a Disney cruise coming up, Our anniversary, Kim's Birthday....gonna be a busy month ahead.
Had lunch with the director of our last films and we are going to start another one soon. Have to plan on time for that as it requires plenty. One big lesson, never underestimate God!
Have a blessed weekend,
68 and another rainy day here. Hope it doesn't wreck havoc on the LL World series today and tomorrow? Anyone watching it? I watched all games every evening at 8, better then the Pro millionares. These kids are doing a great job! I'm a rooting for the kids from TEXUS. They beat the kids fro so Cal once I wonder if they can beat them again? Find out this afternoon. Gee Williamsport is only about 50 miles from me and I have never been there to see a game. Shame on me. I like my recliner, RIGHT CHIEF?
FIFE, CONGA on haircut and shoe shine.
Stay frosty,
laz57
Morning. Still raining. Man, did they ever blow the forecast. Watch out Fifey and 88. Might be a little wet up your way. Frankie and wife are headed to lake house and now it might rain the whole time they are there. Hope not. Think thye are leaving Wed. Off to Miss Edna's later. Have a good one.
Oh yea,
TANKS GYS for the CONGAS on the Saddle engine. Its was a great time, and I am told that this engine is the only anthracite fire engine that is still running? They do have a brother to this one in the barn but needs lots o work, wish I could buy that one?

Morning all from cloudy Southern Ohio
I am going to repair the air bags I put on the truck. They have slipped out of position and bent the bolts. They had soft carriage bolts????? Replacing with some grade 8's.
Laz - Those pics of you engineering the steamer would make a great signature shot!
Dennis - How true!
May God bless
GYZ,
Look what is going off to auction, this is right up the road from me about 8 miles away and I never knew it.
Scrool down til you see the mini steam engine.

The sun is trying to shine through the clouds but 70 is it for the day. No global warning here, should still be in the low 80s.
Granny got the tomatoes canned but we need more. The two closest real farm markets were trying to sell the 2nd rate stuff for canning and putting the good ones in the small high priced baskets. The second place had one good bushel so I grabbed it as we walked in. No plans for today, yet....S.J.
