Did anyone get invited to Jon's open house?  After all we have done for Jon.  Bet only Yanks were invited.  I know he did not offer grits and sweet ice tea.  Sad

I was invited and it was a great open house. Mischief T-bone steaks with fresh Iowa sweet corn was served outside under a big shade tree on a table that had to be 50' long. He let me run his trains and just before I left for Ohio, he handed me one of his highly detailed and expensive locomotives and said, "Here, I want you to have this."  (Obviously, the Chief could learn some lessons in hospitality from Jon.) Good Mornin, Ya'll, from Cloudy and Raining Taxachusetts,

My apologies for being MIA from the Pot for quite a while.  I want to first extend my heartfelt thank you for all of the prayers you have offered up during a very trying past 2 months for our family.  God has listened.  This time my wife and I are the proud grandparents of a healthy baby girl, Gabriella Anne, and our daughter is on the mend.  Both daughter and granddaughter are home from the hospital, and all of the mother/daughter plumbing and mechanics are working to perfection.

I am truly blessed.  I'll never complain about changing a diaper again, unless it is my own. Big Smile

Great Video! It is hard to picture 800 trains and 150 push action buttons. I especially liked the moving ships, airplanes, trucks, cars, Etc.

8ntruck - My advice is to take five and have a big bowl of grits and a glass of sweet ice tea.

I am back to 99%, so this week I will be bush hoging, spraying and moving cows. I am now two week behind, but that is the way it goes.

Have a great one, and remember:

Chief, glad to hear the wallaby has been nabbed.  Thanks for the invitation, but I was on call and not able to make it.

Been busy around our house with work and children's schedules.  Hope to get some track time in tonight.  Son has been on me to do it, but his list comes after Momma's list.

Waiting on a friend's baby to be delivered today.  They induced last night and now we just have to wait.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

God Bless,
Dennis

PS:  Check with your payroll folks for those still working.  They have changed the tax structure so that health insurance can no longer be taken with pre-tax dollars.  Some will get a bit of a surprise if they don't have enough taken out.

Aloha! It is beautiful this morning. Going to drop G'ma off at the airport and continue in to work. Should be a long drive. Then a full-day and class tonight. Looks like her flight was just rescheduled a bit later. Wonder why? Oh well, have a pleasant day everyone.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  Rain may hit later on.  Was glad to drive the Tardis after helping everyone on.  We have gone from the "Wild Bunch" to the "Walking Wounded".  I practiced with "my" soccer girls last night and then went to the YMCA to do weights.  I also did some Second Life.  I got trash together for pickup today and I hope they take everything (sometimes they do not empty the containers completely).  Beacon is lit and I will be driving today.  Has any one heard from Brent and Susie-Q?  The 22nd has been here and left.  Lots of work facing me today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

I went out to the property Sunday to recover the memory cards from our trail cams.  I immediately noticed damage to the bird feeder.  As I guessed..."Bart" as I call him has been back.  Take a look at this big boy.  You can also see my father in I sizing up the damage..

Went to the doc's office today for bloodwork. Originally they wanted to check my blood sugar after fasting and then have me go eat a fairly high carb breakfast, but after last week I wasn't sure what the plan was. Went and ate a "normal" breakfast w/ some carbs. I wasn't quite the basket case that I have been, but they hung on to me for a bit. At least they got to see it in the act and that I wasn't making this up:) I also dropped off a framed picture of the 'scope that I have had for them for some time. They have been very accomodating of my crazy schedule over the years and thought it was the least I could do. Kristin (my doc) said it was a fair trade for waking her up in the middle of the night last week.

They want me to take a class sponsored by one of the local hospitals. The more info the better. Went to the Monday staff meeting to catch up on stuff w/ work. Didn't want the engineers to think they could ride roughshod w/ my 'scope:) It will still be a bit before I get back, but at least it looks like that will happen at some point.

I'm doing well enough this week I think I might start some minor stuff on the MG engine. No heavy lifting yet, but at least get some stuff started. When I was going to work last Monday I saw a GT of similar age in the exact same color. I was floored. Only other GT's I've seen in town are owned by the guy's at British Car Service. Looked pretty good on the road.

Hope everyone has a good week and prayers for all those in need.

Aloha all. Nice fun weekend; daughter's graduation party went off well. Spent a nice day at the beach with g'ma and youngest. Back to work tomorrow. Got to find someplace to work whilst they replace windows in my office. Doing college paperwork. Beacon is lit. Brutus, hope the back is better!

Bill - I feel your pain and salute your solution sir!  I ended up reclinerizing all day here at home with the kids.  Did take a long shower that helped my back a lot though.  One trip out of the house to pick up the family pictures - man, I sure got fat in the past year.  Not sure how that happened.  Need to get back on my diet.  This might be why my back is bothering me again, hasn't bothered me in a couple years - since I lost some weight.   Hmmmmmm......  No trains today, just hanging out with the kids and Chewy.

Mike, I hope you can drive, I am not up for it.  We need help getting SJ, Me and Pat onto the Tardis I think?  Nice talk tonight with RT and SJ!  Hope everyone is a lot better tomorrow!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Starting to warm up again here.  Mid 80's today, with 100 forcast for Saturday.

Worked on a plumbing project after I posted yesterday. Promptly dropped the tubing cutter inside the wall, then snagged the end of the hacksaw and dropped the little hook thingy that holds the end of the blade down into the wall too.  Started putting things back together and discovered I had glued the wrong fitting into one of the sub assemblies.  House 3, Bill 0.  Took that as a sign that I should drink a beer on the front porch swing.

It was cool enough last night that I got some train running time.  That was only a little better than the plumbing job.  The old 027 tubular track seperaterated, causing a de-railment.  Also discovered that I need to re-check the clearance between my inner loop and mid loop when the overhang of a GP9 swiped the underhang on a Hogwarts coach and nudged it off of the track.  Back side of the layout, just out of reach tooAngry

On the bright side, my box of doo dads from Train Tender arrived today.  Think I have all the parts I need to start that 'kit bashing' project now.

Later all.

We survived the open house yesterday just fine, actually enjoyed it and NO PILEUPS! We had about 22 guests and I think everyone really had a good time. These folks treated the layout with more respect than I've seen from our own families, parents were actually being parents!!

Meetings over today.  Tomorrow have lunch meeting [free lunch].

Now big question????  Where is Jack Rockisland?  It is grandbaby "hatching" time.  Where are the pictures????

Good Evening

We had a beautiful day. But I am Pooped. spent the day working to replace damaged bricks on the house. I had help of course and an electric chisel, more like a small jack hammer. Great tool for that kind of job. I have banilla but someone might have to help me get to the thingy...S.J.

 Hello all

Just a quick cup. Been like a long tailed cat in a room full o' rockn chairs.

Busy trying to keep the weeds at bay in the garden and making the last of the first cutting hay.

Had a great Fourth with all the family.

My nephew talked me in to painting his truck. Haven't done a vehicle in at least ten years. Worked on getting the garage ready the last couple of days. Even got my '70 El Camino running again. It hasn't been inspected since '03. I'll enjoy driving it on occasion again after I get it inspected.

Not much time for trains in the summer. I try to keep up with the Pot every couple o' days

Bob, keep us posted on your blood pressure / diabetes. Been having some issues myself the last 6 or 8 months

Prayers to all who may need them

Really had fun yesterday entertaining about 20 folks at the lake house and all went on the pontoon boat [the envy of Fifey].

Did anyone from the forum get invited to the Eagles Lake House for the holiday?  After all the great things we have done for him, his Honor snubbes us again.

Nope...not invited.  In fact..he sent me an un-invited card. We sure know who our friends are. We even voted twice for him.

Hey guys..

Something interesting...I went to Hobby Lobby for Lunch today and purchased a manual O-36 switch for $12 and a HO Machine Shop (lighted!) for $14 (it's a big enough scale where I can use it for a trolley garage with a little kit bashing & cutting).

However, this is not the interesting thing....The Christmas Decorations are being put out NOW as we speak.  I was enticed to see the wreaths for 50% off and though about it..then saw the em[ployees putting the rest of the decorations out.  Christmas in July....I did purchase some Shiney Bright hand blown orniments from Universal a few weeks ago...but Hobby Lobby?  WOW...

Morning all, had quiet day Sunday after 4th festivities  on Saturday.  Wife and I were home alone yesterday so we ate out last night and got shocked after reading calorie and fat content brochure put out by the restaurant.  The waitress volunteered it but I don't think they give out too many of those.  We had a good time swimming and cooking on Saturday.  Youngest son out of town at car race in Monterey.  He's due home tonight and I have to pick him up at the Metrolink station.  Did not run trains yesterday.  Gets too hot in the garage except in the morning.  Missed the Tardis this trip but will catch the next one.

Don, sounds like you are having more excitement with your neighbors.  Pretty quiet over here for the 4th.  Saw one illegal firework go off in the sky near hear.  That was it.  O course in the neighboring town of Azusa where it is legal, it sounded like World War  Three.

Pat, hope you are doing better.

Chief, you're killing me again with those mouth watering descriptions of Bar-B-Que and those home grown tomatoes.

New Hampshire forumite, thanks for the weather report.  We have relatives up your way not too far from Concord.  Love N.H. in the Fall but have'nt been there for a while.

Have a good week, y'all,

Ray

Buckeye-- do you really want to spend a day at the palatial seaside retreat for Hiz Honer? I would have to think grits were on the menu............ Buckeye, I'm concerned that maybe you've been in the Ohio sun to long?

We survived the open house yesterday just fine, actually enjoyed it and NO PILEUPS! We had about 22 guests and I think everyone really had a good time. These folks treated the layout with more respect than I've seen from our own families, parents were actually being parents!! The interactive button pushing was great fun for the kids, wouldn't mind hosting again. The only damage was done by my wife, pre arrival of company. She was determined to clean every passenger car and dropped a presidential (Lincoln) car on the floor and broke off the corner of the roof. She glued it back on but never told me until I asked about that car after everyone left and she said "oh, I was going to tell you about that but forgot, I'll buy you a new car". Nah, maybe more chrome for the bike would be a better idea :) No response.

Hopefully this week will be quieter and more relaxed. Big Honda rally next week in LaCrosse, WI, can't wait to get on the road again. Wisconsin has some of the best back roads in the USA, the rally actually starts on Thursday afternoon--I may leave Tuesday depending on the weather. Summer is slipping away, can't believe that it's already July 6.

Buckeye--get into the shade and think winter! Now, isn't that better?
