This can't wait until tonite. I went to the DMV with a sack lunch for license tabs and to renew my license. Suprise: No Waiting, in and out before the motor stop. I ate the lunch on my way home :).
Great ride home last nite with Doug and the chat gang, Doug called the stops as he had the window seat.

Woo hoo! Good luck, Gilligan! She looks wonderful. Boxcar from a Southern state arrived on the Interchange track today - a little hobbled. Storming here. Sir J, that's a miracle.

Grass mowed, pond bank weedeated, center of path Roundup'd, shooting range Roundup'd, 8' wood picnic table loaded in back of truck [stood it up and turned it upside down and slid it in] and bookcase inside picnic table in back of truck and all done since 3:30. Now for Criminal Minds. Then hit the road to the lake house tomorrow AM.
Praying for all of the Grandbabies to be healthy and full term. I believe there are at least two if not more.

Good Evening
We've had some light rain, possible storms expected during the overnite. I am hoping they will get tired before they get here. No trains today but OGR is here doesn't look all that interesting. I read the article about Lionels Classic GG1s, but the rest will take awhile. One carton of banilla left so if we could find some cupcakes for tonite we will be all set. Brutus when the weather clears, fire up the thingy...S.J.
Nice boat and a hardy crew. enjoy.
Fife ...... nice boat bro ! Can you sail her ... by that I mean by the sails and not the engine ?
Very cool boat, Fifedog sir! You need one of those cocked hats with a feather in it and a spyglass, lol
Big storm came through here a little while ago and not supposed to be all clear until either 10 or 3 AM depending on channel.
Wife had biopsy test today - she is really sore, esp if she moves around. Has to stay still for 24 hours. Good news so far, her hemoglobin was up to 11.8, which is just under low-normal, so the medicine is working! Should hear about results of the pathology lab in a week.
Banilla! On the way, Big Guy! I'll look for beacons on the way. Actually, the Tardis is just my way of waving at people or getting a wave - hiya!!!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good Evening from wet Southern Ohio
Jim F Continued prayers for your bride
Fife - NICE boat!!!!!!
May God bless
Jim
I'm back. Got home today from a 15 day round trip to Colorado via Amtrak. Visited daughter and family and managed to kidnap the 16 year old and bring her along home with us for a while. That's it for tonight, need to get some rest. Oh and we had someone stop in that is from Waco, Texas, for a little bit this evening and asked me to run the trains. Amazingly everything worked perfect after not moving for several weeks.
John,
Glad to see you got home safely, hope you got dinner. Looking forward to the pics.
Now to check out what's new on the thread.
Don
Good night all. Reclinerized again.
Brutus, your wife needs some of my wife's blood. She has too much iron. Her's did test OK this time. She has to give every 6 weeks to keep it down. Glad your wife is doing better.
Off to bed. Will hit the road tomorrow AM to lake house. Will have to go by Town Hall and upset Town Manager before I go.
Sleep tight.
Got caught up on the previous posts,
Hope the wives continue with improvement, will send up some prayers for their health.
Fife, I like the siderails on your new layout base, will it accomodate 72 or will you be able to go up to 84? Really nice hatch opening as well. Is the layout solar powered or you going to have to run extension cords?
Congratulations .... Skipper !!!
Good morning all,
It is rainy again in SE Indiana (was not worried too much until I heard somebody talking about "cubits"). Played soccer with "my" soccer girls last night. Lucas is working 2 to 10 now so he can at least call his girlfriend in the evening. Wife was feeling pretty puny yesterday as intestinal "bug" really hammered her. She had the headaches as well. She is doing some better today. Work was interesting yesterday. Some "issues" were brought up that have needed to be resolved for quite some time. Hopefully everything will work out ok, and if it does not, I am not sure I care anyway. Beacon is lit. I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Morning all. Beautiful day here - everything scoured clean by thunderstorms last eve. Prayers for healthy grands and for Brutus' bride. Glad you're back safe and sound, John. Going to Volo, Illinois to peruse their car museum today - it's a neat place - http://volocars.com - especially as everything is for sale! The youngest has baseball tonight too. Fife isn't Gilligan, he's the Skipper!
Morning from Town Hall. Thought I would give the Town Manager a "jolt". I did. He showed up for work at 9 AM and I was sitting here much to his surprise. Now loaded to go to the lake house.
Mike C., hope the "sausey winch" gets better.
Dougie Poo, you must have a job like mine. Off when you want to be. Enjoy your visit.
Now can you all invision Fifey and crew sailing around the "Horn"? The big fog horn in the bay.
Later
Special prayers for the all the expectant Moms, Dads & Grandparents -- nine months of hard work for the Moms and lots of stress for the rest of us.
Fife--the sailboat looks FANTASTIC!! You will enjoy it for many years, hoping for NO mutinies! My only concerns were lightning storms and launching the boat but since you have a slip you won't have to worry about power wires. Every year there are fatalities linked to the mast coming into contact with power lines, very sad. Sailing has to be one of lifes great experiences.
I have the princess here for three days while her parents are at our annual band directors conference. Grammie will come home at noon so I can go to a rehearsal, every two years we do a retired directors band along with past presidents. We do a two hour rehearsal this afternoon and a concert tonight and not surprisingly it's very good. I really enjoy practicing the music and playing in a great band, wish we could do it more often. The only sad part is when we play a powerful arrangement of Old Scottish Melody which is known as Auld Lang Syne, it's out of respect to directors that have passed in the last two years, I can never make it through that song without shedding a tear. It will be even more meaningful for me this year, one of the most influential teachers in my life passed away 18 months ago, I did play at his funeral.
OK, that's it, the princess needs some attention
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Good Morning
Storms have passed, sun is out.
Going to hitch up the dogs to the sled and head for WalMart. In Michigan we can use the team until early August.
Fife like the boat, just a word of advice. Go to the bank, empty your savings account and go throw the money in the water next to the boat. Because thats where it will end up anyway. Lots of fun but buying one is the easy part.
Jefelectric .... wow ... sounds like a wonderful trip ! Glad you're back home safe and sound .... how is the food on the amtrack .... I have'nt taken an extended trip on one for years ... but am thinking of going on a short one to Florida in the near future . Darn rain again .... .... will it ever cease ?
Storms ran everyone off the tardis last night .... hope all you guys are safe and sound ... this crazy weather is unbelievable . Jim ... hope you had a hardy breakfast this morning ... like I should talk ... I had 3 cups of coffee .... ... decaf at that ....
SJ .... true ... first getting your sea legs on a choppy day .... second manuvering while under sail ... that's an art all in itself .... have seen capsized boats on the bay from captains trying to learn it themselves .... hope fifey is very careful ....
Morning all!
Fife: Yaaaarrrrr! Nice! Will it be Atlas-O 3-rail around the deck?
Brutus: Continued prayers for your Bride. Glad she's doing better!
Kurt
John, glad you had a nice trip to Colorado. I haven't taken a long Amtrak trip in years. Hope it went well. Some of those Amtrak trips can be problematic. They can be great when it all goes right though. I've been thinking about taking some other mode of transportation from California to Chattanooga for a visit. The fastest would be to fly into Atlanta and drive up. After reading the morning newspaper about the air crash in Buffalo and how the regional pilots are treated, I don't feel safe making the flight from Dallas to Chattanooga aboard a puddle jumper small aircraft to a regional airport.
Welcome home,
Ray

Ahoy maties! Much abliged on the well wishes everyone. It's gonna be fun.
Sir James - The way me and wifey are looking at it, we sink "X" amount in condo/hotel fees on various vacations through out the year. She looks at it as our new home-away-from home. And for the nominal price we paid, she can now "jazz" it up however she wants inside. It's all good.
Ole Timer - I went way smaller than I originally intended due to being first keelboat. Grew up on these waters;I respect these waters;but to be under sail is something special to me.
dbaker - You sir, have given me one whale of an idea for a future SPF!!! And for the record, the HUNTER will accept O-84 on the deck, and O-42 on the cabin top.
jefelectric - Welcome home sir. Taking one of those AMTRAK land cruises is on my to-do list.
Brutus - Let's keep that good news a-coming...
jonadel - You understand me perfectly.
Good Afternoon everyone! Seems a lot of folks been out and about and are coming back to post. Good thing, you are all missed. One word about the H1N1 "Swine Flu". Lots of talk in the press about it and it is scaring folks. First, the real issue with this strain is that it is a combination of two prior strains. Neither more deadly than our yearly battle. This does have some considerations in that in future years, they are afraid that other mutations/combinations are possible. In reality, the flu takes about 36,000 people a year and this one is actually quite a bit less. My advice: Make regular precautions a part of everyday life. Wash your hands, don't touch your face unless you have washed, don't cough without covering your mouth. Cover sneezes, etc. Don't bother with surgical masks, they are meant to protect others from your germs, not you from everyone else's. Only N95 type masks or respirators protect the wearer.
OK, enough of that. Fife, congratulations on the boat...Captain. You really should have had the patch and hat on for the pictures though. Wish you good luck with her. What are you going to name her? Perhaps you should have some kind of naming contest.
Brutus, glad bride is doing better. Is she on Procrit? We try to have elective patients put on it at it decreases the need for transfusion in many cases. Hope she continues to improve.
John, glad you are back. It sounds like you had a good trip. Great combination; seeing family/friends and also having a train trip to take in the sites of this great country! Look forward to some photos.
Well, had a nice morning. Was supposed to do a case, but one of the other guys took care of it for me so that I was able to see both kids end of school year programs. Both kids did well and now we get into "Summer Mode" around the house. Wife wants a pool, but I have held off till both kids know how to swim. They are both scheduled to take lessons soon. Also may be adding a "Mother in Law" suite onto the house. I am looking into building a three car garage with the second floor a apartment for my parents. This will give them a place to retire to. Just have to weight the options as it may work out better just getting them a small house with little to keep up with.
Have a Sushi dinner tonight with one of the reps. Since it is a female rep, my requirement is that we be able to bring our spouses. Don't want any appearance of impropriety. We do a lot of business with this company and it will be a good time to catch up with the latest offerings.
Hope that everyone is doing well. God Bless,Dennis

Fifey ... really happy for you .... she looks great ! The nice thing is you can go where and when ... drop the anchor all to yourselves and just relax . Have'nt had a boat in years ... was thinking of it this year but put it on the side burner ... you never get it out of your blood ..... I never had one with sails ... they're beautiful . Used to watch them cruise by us at the bay ... WONDERFUL LIFE ... it is matey . AYE AYE captin ... I know you'll love it . Keep the dry side up . You bring back fond memories in this old sailor's mind . Nothin like that salt spray in the face and breeze blowin across dat water .... avoid the seagulls though .... dang things ... they drop where they want and will steal your sandwich right out of your hand while bombarding you .... LOL . Kids love em ... I hate em ... you grew up around there ... you know what I mean ... at times I wanted to put bird shot in my flare gun .... LOL .

Dennis, I agree with what you say about theH1N1 Flu, and as a Doctor you would know.
I appreciate your putting "Swine Flue" in quotes . We, as farmers, have been told that NO person has contracted the flu from swine. The only known case in the world of swine having the flu is in Canada and it was contracted from a human!

Afternoon all. Had a great birthday today! After breakfast, went 'antiquing' across northern Ilinois looking for trains. I found 7 beautiful Marx cars for a decent price. Now off to the youngest' baseball game!
Doug seems it was a good one for you. Hope it turns out even better before the night is over.
Hey all not a lot going on.
Brutus still prayers for wife
Fifey hey there mate nice looking boat. I prefer the ships thou like the BB's they just seem to get attention when they come into view. They were one awsome ship. But for your use that will give you many years of enjoyment I hope. Looks like it will. I never got into sail boats thou. Best to you there captain

Happy Birthday DOUG !
Fife, I like the boat. Never owned a sail boat, had several others over the years and always liked the water, but Jean is not a good sailer as she has always had trouble with motion sickness, even in cars and on the train.
Someone asked about Amtrak food. It is a mixed bag, some is great and at other times it is just so-so. Since I retired I have riden on the Capitol Limited, the California Zepher, the Southwest Chief, the Empire Builder, the Coast Starlight and some others of lesser note. All but the Empire Builder and Coast Starlight two or three times. The best food by a wide margin is on the Empire Builder as it is the only one that does not use prepared food but has a Chef on board. I think our train travel in the future will be limited as Jean is having more and more problem with the motion. As for pictures, I don't think I took any of trains or scenery on this trip as I have so many from past trips. The "big" event of this trip was the granddaughters 16th birthday.
And now for the train related topic. Before we left I got an email from the LHS letting me know that the MTH PRR G5s that I had ordered was in. I plan to pick it up tomorrow.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOUG MURPHY!
I heard today that they already cleared away that train wreck from the other day - 28 cars, no injuries. What a mess! In other news, my wife and kiddos are going to KC on the Amtrak and waited too late to purchase tickets so now they are paying a premium. Dang!
Welcome back John - sounds like you had a great trip sir!
