Ole Timer.......Sorry for your loss of your Aunt
Prayers out for you and your family.

OLE TIMER,
Sorry for your loss. Prayers for your family.
About the trout, all are catch and release. I like catching them more then eating them. If they were perch or walleyes, then we'd be having them on the grill. They are the best eating fish.

Who are these handsome men? Greetings from a beautiful day in Illinois - cool but sunny. Got to sit in the service today. Going to 'graduation' of my daughter from her high school youth group tonight. Hope to take photos of my 'birthday' cars to post tonight. Wes, prayers for your family! Dennis, hope everyone feels better. Doug, what an interesting ... cake!

Home again. Not for too long though. Got meetings until Wed. everning. Then off to the lake again. Pam has reacted to some meds and was one big whelp for days. Dr. gave her more meds to stop the itching and swelling. She still has a "mild dose" of it.
Bob. Glad to see new folks drop in. As Buckeye says, been going for sometime now. I use to fly to Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's across the country. Visited a many a member [some not posting anymore] while in or around their location. Lots of great folks on here. We do joke about the Civil War, Yankees, Rebs, grits and sweet ice tea [along with other things]. We have built some great relationships here.
Pat, I found that yellow jackets [some call them ground bees] can out run a tractor too. Was disking some woodland clearing for wildlife food plots. Disked over a nest!!!!
Think I will upstairs and run some trains. Been raining here and temps dropped from high 60's this AM to middle 50's. BTW: cooked my first squash, zucchini and onions Thursday night at the lake house. Pam ran up for a quick flower planting and I carried the veggies from the garden with me. Had them ready when she got there. Just cut a big batch this afternoon when I inspected the garden. Will cook them later. Cucumbers and tomatoes are full of blooms. Got little tomatoes but have not turned yet [started in big pots in greenhouse in Feb].
Have a great week. God bless all.

dwiemerI know, unusual for me to be posting on Sunday morning as at this time, I should be in Church.
I just knew that the Chief's bad habits would rub off on you during that trip to York.
Blueberryhill RR I love sitting on your back deck, Buckeye, watching the Garden Railroad.

And I would really enjoy seeing you sit there again this summer as we drink the Northern beverage of choice, unsweetened ice tea.

Ole Timer...Our sincerest condolences and prayers for your family. I know I had an uncle who was like a father to me. He was my TONKA truck supplier when I was little and living with my grandparents.
Worked in the garden today and for you that don't understand, that's the garden railroad garden. Plants are planted and track cleared. Need to ballast and clean track.

Its been a rainy day here in GA. Spent most of the day working on customizing a 2-8-0 tender and caboose for a client. He's a SAL and Gainsville Midland fan, I'm doing the engine/tender and caboose to GM. The caboose was a dog, he didn't like the Lionel marker lights and wanted Tomar's, Lionel's were LED w/ a flashing circuit, royal pain changing the wiring, also cabin bulbs too bright. Painted those with yellow ceramic paint to be more like kerosene lanterns. Finished the tender, besides the name he wanted the coal hopper sides higher. I'll be starting the engine later this week, masking to avoid a total strip is time consuming. Doesn't leave me any time for my own trains.
The company is all gone, way to quiet here without the princess but man---am I tired, wow. VERY HAPPY that the school year is over, I need to make some serious decisions about how busy I want to be next year, it's been a balancing act to say the least.
What a great welcome event for the IANG yesterday, if you ever need your heart lifted go to a welcome home for our military folks. I remember sending those troops off one year ago, that will get to you but like someone said to me while I was standing in a flag line--"that year went fast", not so sure it did for the families. The beautiful thing though is that everyone of them came home safely.
No more commitments for me until first week of October except for a retirement party for my BIL and planning a November wedding for #2 son. I think my only contribution on that wedding will be to show up with the checkbook, stay out of the way and keep my opinions to myself He's a great kid and 30, this will be easy, they are both very level headed. There will be one major happening in Sept., things are looking better by the day, thanks for the calls Chief

So many roads, so little time.
Ole Timer - My sincere regards to your aunt. GPS/Charting ($$$) is on my shopping list, but I'm one for studying paper charts first.
SPMan - Gonna be sailing the Chesapeake only. HUNTER 27 sits with a bit of a whale belly below the water line, but still only 4 1/2 feet draft. Good sturdy sailer, just not for "big" water.
Chief - You go ahead and keep speaking of Yanks, and grits, and Roseyville. WE all long for a little bit of Mayberry from time to time... Best regards to the wifey.

If you are looking for a GPS unit for your boat, one feature I like with my old GPS are the "bread crumbs" that it leaves on the screen as I travel along. I have used those bread crumbs to navigate later through thick fog to find my way home. River fog along with the curves and rocks in a river make for tricky navigation.
Good Evening
Wes sorry to read of your loss, prayers for you ole buddy.
I had a busy day, talked with Brutus on the phone this morning. then went to Charlies and played with trains for several hours, His son kept me busy with chatter as the trains did run. No pileups. Arrived home in time to round up my two boys and we pushed the boat from patio to front driveway. A full day for an old guy. Banilla is waiting for the Thingy though...S.J.

Don & Ray,
Hope no problems in your areas. The preliminary report was a magnitude 5, but we felt it pretty strong down here. The San Andreas is alive and well.

Boy, that will teach me! I was using the MTH "All Engines" Command, and pushed the start-up button. Sure wasn't expecting that kind of reaction !
It apparently was centered in Inglewood, (adjacent to the LA airport), and 5.0. I would definetly rate it as a 2 or 3 in terms of the most violent that I have experienced since I have been here (50 years). Water was NOT splashing out of the pool this time, no visable chimney damage, no gas smells, no broken windows/glass anywhere. Will be sleeping lite tonight, certainly will be some aftershocks.
Hope everything OK at Ray's place!
(I would have posted sooner, but we were too busy shaking, lasted a long time)

dbaker48 no gas smells, (I would have posted sooner, but we were too busy shaking, lasted a long time)
no gas smells,
I assume you are referring to the "natural" gas lines leaking.....
Wow....After 2 hours of trying, I finally got back into the Forum. This new Forum requires a lot of patience.
Good luck, everyone..................
Thanks all for the hearty welcome. Ol Timer I am very sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Well tonight was a pretty good night here at the Mt. Graham Boiler Shop. I work at a radio telescope (hence the submm) and tinker w/ the trains in my spare time. Had some excitement w/ the cooling system on the receiver today. Compressor croaked and when the spare was fired up it blew the needle out of the orifice. Still fairly cold but not as sensitive. We pull it apart Monday.
Anywa,y I finished assembly of the RW-110 and set up some straight track on the bench and ran the 2026 and 2224W back and forth a bit. The engine is now fairly quiet w/ the wheels shimmed correctly and the Lucas Red and Tacky on the gears. She runs, she smokes, and the whistle blows (note to self: going to need track bumpers before I do more of this). If I can finish cleaning the curved track I may be able to set up an oval. I am desparately in need of some O-27 track pliers though. I went to the local HobbyTown USA in Tucson and they have very minimal train inventory left. Ever since AZ Trains shut down, I guess things have been fairly quiet in that realm here in the Ol' Pueblo. Oh well, I'll get a set from Olsen's on the next parts order.
Incidently, the engine runs way smoother w/ the RW than w/ the inexpensive plastic trans that I bought for the tinplate set in the early 90's. I can only imagine what a ZW is like. For everyone who provided advice and inspiration to get to this point I am forever grateful.

Ole timer - Sorry for your loss. Prayers to all those who are sick.
Long day yesterday traveling from G'burg to DC to pick up son and then to Morgantown for niece's graduation from WVU. Too much driving. My brother took son back to DC thought he would be able to drop him at Metro but it closes 11:30 PM on Sunday so he had to drive the whole way, it added another 1.5 hours to his trip. I feel awful, I owe my brother Big Time. As it was I didn't get home until almost 11:00.
Well got to get to work.
Take care,
Mitch

Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps chilly now but warming to the 60s. Miss a day, miss a lot here. Three pages of posts since the last one I made on Saturday. I had some errands to do Saturday night, and I visited some one who was interested in selling her late husband's collection. It was mostly HO. Sunday went to Mass, watched some Indy activity with my dad, swept the house, did weights and a little soccer at the YMCA, listened to the last hour of Indy time trials, which was very exciting, did dishes, did some Second Life, got ready for work and watched "Desperate Housewives". Yesterday I had pancakes and sausage on the dining car, and the regular fare this morning. Beacon is lit for tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana

Well, seems everything is normal for Shake and Bake. Whole place is shaking and ground cracking while the burning to a crisp.
Morning. Wifey has another reaction. In bed now with hives and swelling. Asked her if she was allergic to squash???? She had this stuff starting before we cooked the first squash. Cloudy and damp. Cooler than usual. Got meetings this afternoon and night [free steak]. Grass needs cutting. Sometime while I was gone, somone ran into one of the trees out by the street. Pam was sudated and did not hear it. Glass and car parts all over the place. Police did not know about it again [happened a year ago]. If not for the tree, would have gotten mailbox and powerpole.
Ole Timer, sorry for your loss.
Fifey, no worry. I will grits yuz giz and give the Yanks a hard time forever. My answer, Identical TWINS. As for GPS, I would get Lowrance and add the Naviotics Chip. A color GPS really makes it nice to see details.
Jon, the little Princess can keep you going big time. I heard her in the background when I called the other night. Old man like you should not be out that late.
Mike C., I can be up at the lake and not get by the country store [DJ's wireless] for one day and miss a book in posts. Good thing it is summer. Posting slowes but, if winter, would be a novel to read.
All have a great week. God bless all.
Mornin' boys. Gray and 50's here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Go to seal-the-deal at the marina at noon, then off to work . Did absolutely nothing yesterday but eat (eggs & bacon in the AM;rotisserie and ash potatoes in the PM).
Buckeye - I'll have to check out that "breadcrumbs" feature... Won't the gulls get to 'em?
fifedog Buckeye - I'll have to check out that "breadcrumbs" feature... Won't the gulls get to 'em?
Its called tracks. Now how do you lay down track in water? As Buckeye says [I hate to agree with him], it is a great feature in a "foreign" body of water, in fog or no moon light. Stay on those tracks, you will not hit anything [unless you did before] and it will take you right back home.
Wow, all these nautical things I'm learning on the forum. Stunningly beautiful morning in Chicago. Nice start to the week. Can't believe next weekend is Memorial Day. Did you see my 'birthday' cars in Photo Fun thread?
Chief - "Tracks" sounds better. Will be a little hard to follow while tacking/jibing. Will certainly avoid foggy/nighttime conditions for the foreseeable future.
Thirty five years ago the boss and I and two other couples did a canoe trip into the Boundry Waters in norhern MN. We left the lodge that first morning in dense fog and could barely see the shore line that we needed to follow, one of the guys had done that trip previously so he knew what to do. When the fog finally lifted we looked around and there were about 3-5 other canoes around us, so much for being in the wilderness! Actually, by the time we ended up where we wanted to be that first night -- there was no sign of any other people, great trip! Would love to go back and do it again but stay in lodges at night No such thing as a GPS in those days, would have come in very handy the third day out, everyone was convinced we needed to go a certain direction except my wife -- she convinced us she was right -- sadly, she was

Don and Doug, I did'nt feel anything here but I may have been sitting on the top of a ferris wheel at our local chuch festival when it hit. The seat we were riding in sort of rocked a little bit when we stopped at the top of the circle but I don't know if that was normal or from the quake. Did not hear any comments form anyone else at the festival so they probably did'nt feel it. Hope all is well with you guys today.
