sir james ISpent some time talking to Charlie as he was heading north on I75, he is going turkey hunting tomorrow. He might have saved some gas just by hunting for one on here

Two very long days at the museum and another to go on sunday, I'm pooped. Rock-N-Roll marathon on sunday has lots of road closures making it a major pain to get there at a reasonable time so it was tuff getting people to sign-up. Thankfully we rounded-up two more today so there will be three of us.
Bob, I was talking to some visitors at the museum a few weeks back about the Gadsden meet, they said that there were some "G" layout tours being arranged. I had to chuckle when they said that there would be groups coming in from the northern tier of states wondering about the 115*+ temps and monsoons.
Gased up the truck, sure blew a big hole in a $50 bill. Fast food $1 menus would have been beyond the balance.
Good grief, forgot what else I wanted to add.

Good evening all. Grandkids have gone home with their mom. HO Thomas and the rest of the trains received quite a work out.
On a more sobering note I found out this evening my niece has been committed to an in patient mental health program. Seems she's been seriously contemplating suicide. Such a sad thing for a beautiful young girl due to receive her High School diploma on Monday. I don't know a lot about it but I do know that bullying is involved. She went from an Honor Student 3rd marking period to almost not graduating.
Please keep her in your prayers

Good Evening
To all the new guys.
Warm 77 today, stayed home and did run a train or two. Spent some time talking to Charlie as he was heading north on I75, he is going turkey hunting tomorrow. He might have saved some gas just by hunting for one on here . Brutus says the Tardis will be late but banilla is waiting...S.J.

Buckeye Riveter Jon's comment made me think of a question about cameras. Is there a digital SLR being made with the swivel viewing screen?

Don - I like your stimulus package idea. I volunteer to restore International Cub Cadets have all the restoration parts add to the package.
Seeyak Bill - Welcome!
Ole Timer - I just noticed and heartily approve of the cab-forwards on the bottom of your post. One of my favorite you tube videos is the one of the 4294 making her last run up Donner Pass in the late 50's.
Another rainy day here on the mountain. Not much going on 'til later tonight probably. Finally got some decent sleep today even though I had to get up to talk to the HVAC service guys. Due to the altitude I tend to not sleep well after the first shift. I think I might finish reparing one of the old radios I finally got the parts for tonight. I've promised this one to a friend and it's been waiting for attention for some time.
Checked into taking Amtrak from Flagstaff to La Junta, CO this summer when I make my annual summer pilgrimage to Colorado and then on to South Dakota. I'm not a huge fan of airports, but it's always been hard to take the train north-south in this part of the country (you should have seen the route our concentrate had to take to get to the smelter north of Tucson from the operation I was working at in Nevada). Even w/ the bus fare to Flagstaff, it's still quite a bit less than flying. I took Amtrak from Seattle to Tucson last summer and enjoyed it so much I thought I'd look for other opportunities. Should be a fun trip.

LOL, not really, even though one of my daughters attended Ohio State and now a grandson will be attending Ohio State I still have West Coast blood running through the veins. I will say though The Ohio State University has one heck of a sports program, big bucks all the way.

I'm most anxious to "see" how you like your new camera, thought's? Also would enjoy seeing how your layout progress is coming along, I'm probably the only person around that truly enjoys progress shots, even a blank room from the start. Would even enjoy seeing your "haul" from York
Have a good weekend, hope your'e not on call.

So many roads, so little time.
I' m amazed that some of you have really good photo postings something I have to learn. I am busy like everyone else with the family and young kids etc.. I do manage to find time for trains one way or another and if I not doing that (or working) I am on the boat up on Lake Winnipesaukee ( been going there for years and I can stil barely spell it) in New Hampshire. Yep and I mentioned family too, my wife is good sport about all my nutty hobbies. Chief mentioned summer-- Whats that? 50 degrees and drizzle here in NH today, hopefully we will warm up soon..
I do like CTT site, it seems less of the "judgement" compared to some other Model RR and O sites.
Evening folks,
Just wanted to stop in and say hello. Not much going on except for work related crud, which would bore you to tears. I'll be glad when the kids are gone, 8 full school days and 2 early dismissals. Monday I have a big meeting which is a most difficult case. I hope it goes well.
Hope to get out in the train room tomorrow. Time for a good cleaning and some train time.
Take care,
Mitch

I really don't exist. I am a figment of everyone's imgaination.
Afternoon. BUSY day at TOWN HALL. Well, Fifey and others. Played the 911 tapes to the young man and his dad. Then ran the in-car carmera videos. Youg man came forward and said, "I understand why the officers did what they did." Suddenly the dislike turned to the 911 caller. He told complete lies. He did not see the guy shoot, guy did not shoot from the highway as he said and so on. I will repeat what the dad said next. "He is a Yankee that moved down here." Thought I would laugh out loud. All left happy and so that was a good one. Copied 127 property owners letters protesting the way election of Board members is being held and the Secretary of the Board endorsing her picked canidates. Then I gave the ones I picked ["old heads" that are calm and want things calm]. Then stuff them in envelopes, licked them [yuck], put stamps on them and return labels on them. Gone by way of USPS. Now to hit the road to the lake house.
I want to really thank the new "Pot" visitors. It is so nice to see them posting and this is summer when posting slows. I saw that I am happy even though one is a BUCKEYE!!!!!.

the home of the Buckeye Yard!!!
It is pretty desolate over there since the NS shut down operations. Earlier in the week must have been a few hundred auto transports stored on the tracks. In its hey day a darn busy hump yard with a freight coming or going about every 30 to 45 minutes.

Don .... out of all those suggestions for we old SS recipients ... the sidecar with the
" young - beautiful nurse in it " sounds like a winner to me ! And of course if she's helping ... believe me I'll keep her busy ... lol .... we'll surely need the oxygen tanks ... I'll be looking for the delivery of both items with extreme anticipation .... !!! And don't hope ... you be safe and careful out there and get back here to us buddy ! We old geezers ... as those young guys on here call us ... have to take care of each other ...
Do they make a speak and spell dictionary ? Maybe that would help .... LOL .
DJSpanky - Had some spare qtr inch stripwood, made cuts (not all the way thru) every 1 3/4 inches. Painted top sides with KRYLON textured paint (creme cafe), then added some black washes with artist acrylic. Then started at one end and bend and hot glue as I went. Don't worry if you work snaps in a place or two, just pick up where you left off. Voila! cap stones.
dbaker48mower can have oxygen tanks in a trailer, diamond caution sign on the rear. Sidecar if a nurse is required
NOW THATS FUNNY!!!!
fifedog Seayak---> Ole Timer - o-l-d, f-e-e-b-l-e, m-i-n-d-e-d...I'm sorry, what was the question...?

Good Morning!
Really glad to hear about the wives health improving, and back to work! That's really great.
Now some other stuff to attend to;
"Shake and Bake has not posted because I got on his case about posting and getting permission from me. "
Just gotta clear that up, all because I go and post on another forum, it wasn't that bad. Atleast for those that could understand the words. Then I go and get this scolding from the Chief, and it was brutal. So to appease the old guy, I sent him a dictionary so he could check out my stuff, first. But, it didn't have pictures, so as a result, it is taking way to long to get his approval. (BTW, the folks in the other place are under the impression the Chief approves all the comments here. Boy did I fool them, Chief gets the blame, I do the rant). So that's what that is. (Hope they don't read this, and learn that the Chief is a imaginary character).
Been really strapped for time, adding a new product line to our offering. Boy has that taken a lot of effort. Also, had to do a lot of special graphics, but its all coming together. Then going to do a major presentation this weekend in Sandy Eggo, about 350 people. Really looking forward to next week. Will get some free time, and have difinite train room time planned.
Lots and lots of other stuff worthy of comment, New Guys! WELCOME, looking forward to getting to know you all. VET activities, Jon when you are in our area, dinner on me. REALLY admire your work and contributions, I'm sure you have no idea how important it is to those families who have lost so much. WELL DONE !!
Glad to see the grass is growing for all you guys. Just think, all you retired folks, WHAT would you do, if you didn't have a field, or acerage to mow. (I think I will send in a Stimulus suggestion, provide a riding lawnmower to all those guys receiving SS, with an odometer on the mower, put them to work taking care of gov't property. Be it local, state, or fed property, and then do all the neighbors lawns who ARE working contributing to SS. Postal and gov't employees not contributing would have to mow their own.) This can work, mower can have oxygen tanks in a trailer, diamond caution sign on the rear. Sidecar if a nurse is required. It works!!
Need to get going to WORK, so will get back this evening I hope.
Take care and hope everyone has a GREAT DAY !!
Don
SeayakbillGood Morning All, first time posting on this thread. A little info about myself, retired last year from a large apparel retailer after 30 years, 4 months, and 15 days. Had a great position as Director of Transportation which allowed me to travel all over the world on the companies dime. The company was in a downsizing mode last year and they made an offer that I could not refuse, basically paying me until I start drawing SS this coming Aug at the age of 62. Currently live in Hilliard, Ohio, relocated from Seattle when the company moved their distribution center 22 years ago. The wife is still working so now I am in charge of all household chores and chief cook. Currently in the process of rebuilding my layout, I try to spend a couple hours a day on the task, either operating or working on the layout. I have 5 grandkids so I am the emergency chauffeur when needed. Oldest grandson starts at Ohio State this fall in their Aeronautical Engineering school. Bill Terry

I can tell you there is another Buckeye on this thread called Buckeye Riveter. Great guy and a big kidder. Check out his web site at http://lioneltrains2.shutterfly.com/
I too try to put in a couple of hours a day operating or working on my layout. Almost always end up operating a lot more than working!

O T: Thats funny.....daughter did the same to me this am. Made me drop her off behind this little building out by the road and she would walk the 150 yards to the mainbuilding in the rain. What she didn't realize is that in order for me to get out of the parking lot I had to drive all the way up and past the school to get to the exit. He last name in 20" high letters accross the truck. Not exactly a stelth vehicle I was laughing all the way home. Steve
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cool, 60 degrees. Cloudy. Going up to 75 today, with some sunshine. We have had a lot of rain lately.
Today is a normal day. A little busy this morning and relax this afternoon. I am going to get a haircut later. Then, run a few errands. Wife is feeling a lot better. She is almost back to normal. That's good.
Buckeye.....TGIF
Dining car was here and we had the usual for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Friday.

Jon ... that really hit home on the young Navy guy ... me being an old sailor ... when all this started ... told everyone I wish they could strap me to a .50 cal over there instead of the kids they were sending . Breaks my heart everytime I see the pics of those young men and WOMEN .... losing their lives in arabia ... sad is'nt the word ... ... but they won't take us old used up vets .... but by golly we're willing to die instead . If you ride through Maryland ... lunch is on me ...
Seayakbill/Bill .... welcome aboard ! I'm retired also and the wife works . Not that she likes still working .... I think she just wants to be away from me ... lol .
SJ .... the VA had me on wrong meds for over 7 months ... kept complaining ... I think they thought I was just an old feeble minded fart ... NO WISE CRACKS GUYS ! Finally went to a new young female doc ... she knew right away and changed everything ... a God send .
Steve ... know the feeling of unwanted ride to school ... when I'd take my son in my old Jeep ... he'd make me drop him off around the school building so the kids did'nt see it ... I finally told him ... you'll be riding your bicycle next time .... 12 mile ride ... then the Jeep did'nt look so bad anymore ....
A big howwwwdy .... to the other old geezer in Carolina .... I wonder if he has a price tag on his straw hat too ?
Bill: I'm a newbie here myself.
Good morning from sunny and bright Portage, MI (South of Kalamazoo). Here for Grand Niece's graduation tonight. Up at 6:00 AM yesterday. Drove to airport for an 8:05 flight. Left at 9:00. Arrived at O'Hare in Chi-town a little afer 10:00. Rode the Blue Line CTA to Clinton Street in downtown. Walked four blocks to Chicago Union Station. Arrived just in time to get in line and wait about 5 minutes to board Amtrak 352 for Kalamazoo. Smooth, quick ride and on time. Tomorrow, Amtrak 351 to Chicago, 30 to Washington, DC, and 97 back to Jacksonville Monday mornning. New Elementary Statistics class to start Tuesday night. Saw EJ&E, DMIRR?, and CN diesels at one of the rail complexes in the steel making areas along the old PRR line in Northern Indiana yesterday.
Coninued prayers for all in need.

Morning all. Sunny and pleasant today - TGIF! Working on buying new technology for our new offices. Strange to be pressured to spend $ fast.Ole Timer, I ended up eating too many donuts during filming... don't want any for a while. Need caffeine. Bride came in late from an evening with girlfriends, and daughter was out late completing their senior class prank - planting spoons on the school's front lawn. I vote for 3 boat tasks then honey do list - both lists I guess are never done. Hannibal sounds like fun, Brutus! $4.7K for braces is a great price. I've 'invested' more than that - twice so far. Jon, just remember your fantasy ride east should run through Illinois first.
Sofa-shmofa...I gotta V-berth I can retire to...
Speaking of, we go to pick out fabric for the cabin cushions tomorrow. Thinking along the lines of Ultra Suede in Regal Blue.
