Good Morning

Hmm it appears to be Chucks birthday, so Happy Birthday to you.

Sun is up but chilly this morning. I am laying in wait for our  two sons to visit their mom today. Got work for them. I need to move the boat off the patio and onto the front driveway. I wanted to leave it where it is since I don't plan on using it but I was outvoted 1 to 1. wife won again.

I hope all you mothers have a nice day and the wives too...

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Sunny & 57 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Gave wifey an 8' tall christmas palm tree yesterday (she loved it!).  I named it "Benji" in honor of the VI taxi driver who returned our camera.  I assure you, no other lady got a palm tree on our street, and they are all jealous...

Sunny, low 70's here today.  Morning trip to Lowes for plants - hanging ferns, habinareos, tomatoes, and some herbs.  Planted the tomatoes, peppers, and hrebs, did some weeding, worked on the mower, mowed the lawn, worked on the mower some more.

Was a nice evening too. Built a fire in the fire pot and read on the deck for a while.

Back from MIL's Mother's Day at SIL's.  Good food.  Beef loin cut into individual steaks, buttered shrimp, baked potato and salad.  Strawberry [fresh] shortcake for desert.  Still would rather have been at the lake house even if I had to eat Beanee Weenees [hickory smoked] and Viennias.  Lucy agrees.  Big storm came through with lots of strong winds.  Very little rain.  Maybe more later.  SIL lost power for a long time.  Lots of little limbs and leaves all over the pad here at Roseyville.  Guess what???  Got another sinus cold.  Off to bed for me.  TIRED.  Have a good one.  HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the Moms.

Good evening all,

It was windy in SE Indiana today.  Oldest daughter was down today with her family for wife's birthday.  Lucas and I reffed one soccer game.  Time trials at Indy went as expected.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good evening Y'all!  Wife is out with her mother as she is buying her something for "mother's day".  Easier to do that than find something she'll return anyway.  They are here this weekend as it was daughter's recital today.   She did well.  We then went to a new mexican restaurant that some friends own.  Was nice all the way around.  Tonight, the Chinese teacher for the kids stopped by as she returned from her annual trip there and brought some presents for the kids and the bride.  Real nice folks.

Spent the better part of the morning trying to get some tractor work done.  Today was the only day to do it as the rains are coming tomorrow afternoon and are expected for much of the week ahead.  I know we need the rain to get the lakes/reservoirs up to level, but we like it a little more spread out.  Oh well, God'll take care of us.

Hope everyone has a great week ahead.

God Bless,
Dennis

Hi all from Beautiful Southern Ohio

It is really nice out.  Low humidity, high 60's and sunny.  I helped at two services today, first at Conformation then Saturday evening Mass where I gave the Homily.  Tomorrow two services and a Baptism.

Our youngest daughter is up from Cincy, and the oldest is getting a pass for Mother's Day.  I am playing with my grandson and he just beat me in chess.  Not bad for 6.  I just taught him how to play a few months ago and we play about every other day.

He want's another piece of me, so I'll check back in later

May God bless

Jim

Evening all!

Brutus:  What a bunch of nuts you have there.  I hope they catch them.  Beacon is on!

Not much today.  Swim lessons this am...one week to go.  Ribs turned out ok.  Bride called yesterday about noon, and said she wouldn't be home for dinner...so I postponed the ribs until lunch today.

Date night.  Maybe Star Trek!?

Church sound in the am.

That took some doing to set-up, Brutus. Glad you noticed it. Back from freezing at soccer. Got the last items for mom's day. Visited Hobby Lobby - nothing interesting in the train section.  Everything expensive. Bride just entered Indiana, making good time back. Daughter was recruited this trip to play NCAA D2 lacrosse for the college team. Met coach. Suppose to sign letter of intent and everything. She's played for a club team in HS. Hmmm. Have to learn more of this. Middle boy just showed up with a new girl-who-is-a-friend - former neighbor. Knew her as an infant. Her sister was daughter's best friend. That's always weird. Going to run trains...

Hey guys - just got through the emails and thought I'd post early today.  Probably going out to eat dinner tonight, although I stopped on the way home and bought fixings for a nice dinner tomorrow - big boneless pork chops, taters, etc.  Bought some garlic in oil to make a marinade for the chops.

Went to leave this house this AM at about 5:30 and noticed something odd.  Hmmmm - someone took my garden hose and tied it across the street just up from my house between a sign on one side and a post on the other marking a gasline.  It was just the right height to do some damage to the grill on a car or truck and maybe yank out one of the signs?  I untied one side and left it for the police.  Got to work (had to make it by 6) and called my wife to tell her about it.  She waited until everyone was up and kids were out playing in the yards around here and called the police.  They came and made a thorough investigation, checked all around the house, checked out the remaining paint spatters from the attack last fall on the cement foundation, made an official report and got names and houses pointed out to them as well.  They will up their patrols on our street and see what happens.  An official report was filed and if there is actual damage to property next time (hose was okay) they will start questioning the neighbor kids, based on our leads from last year.

Stopped at my parents' house on the way home over in Kirkwood and Mom was out, but Dad was home helping one of my nephews, who was mowing his lawn.  Dad was doing great!  He was alert, seemed in really good spirits, and he was out doing stuff and not dragging or winded, as he had been just a few weeks ago.  He has a way to go, but overall things have really worked for the best considering!  He already got his VA exam for his compensation claim, we got that filed as soon as they said "heart" since he has been diabetic for about 25 years.  It won't change his payments now, when they service connect it, but will make a difference in years to come.

Well, gonna kill some zombies before we all go out for dinner, so TTFN!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Morning guys, looks like everyone is braced er ready for Mother's Day.  Hope my kids will take care of mom tomorrow.  I will probably cook or take them all out some place but it's always crowded when you go out.

Don, get some rest after all the yard work.

Wife's brother has alzheimers.  We need to plan on a visit to see him and his wife.  Lots of logistics to figure out account I have to have oxygen when I fly so I need to get more batteries for the portable oxygen concentrator I have.  They live in Chattanooga so I guess the nearest big airport would be in Atlanta.  Went through there last time we saw them.  I think they have a smaller airport in Chattanooga but don't know how that is.

Have a good week end y'all

Been thinking of Don, Doug, SPman - prayers for those affected by the fires and the tornadoes down south, Wow, you really have to be a contortionist to crawl around an attic crawlspace. Got the baffles in. Hopefully, will lead to a little more air circulating. Need a fan up there someday. Weird day - sun followed by grey - misting, scudding clouds, windy, then sun again. Got to get some more stuff for mom's day tomorrow after soccer. Then hopefully train time! Back to cleaning.

 Morning guys,

Sounds like everyone is doing well, hope you enjoy your weekend Doug, get the baffles done, then play time.

- Santa Barbara fires still going, really sad, over 80 homes burned.  Area burning is really inaccessible, the terrain is very hilly, lots of rocks, and significant foilage.  Roads/Streets are extremely narrow as well.  Lot of them barely enough room for 2 cars to pass.  Definitly a deficult situation.

- Went to AGHR meeting this week, elected a new president, good guy won.  Election was won by ONE vote!  The club decided to put in the large new Ross turntable, expensive!  And of course lots of typical club politics going on!  Guess it can't be avoided.

One guy there told me he bought ALL 4 of the NEW Vision engines!  Both the steam AND the diesels.  He also bought the Vision tank cars.  ($7k).  Then the next day I go to Arnies (LTS) to get a copy of the new MTH catalog, and he's in the store, just purchased a 3 car passenger set, and 2 pair of the Spine container cars, and was looking for a TIU.  (Must be nice!)

After looking through the MTH catalog, found the Aerotrain interesting, especially the story, but don't think I'm interested in owning one.  Did like the trolleys, looking especially at the Brill units.  Maybe Christmas.  Other than that not overly excited about a lot.

Have a weekend off, no major gardening work, just some minor clean up.  After getting rid of the Birds of Paradise, (18, 32gal bags), I think the planter is going to be reconfigured.  That will require brick and mortar work.  So will wait on that to when have 2 or 3 days off.

Police activity has been very active at the neighbors house.  Rumor has it that the dancer is a live in guest for the old man that owns the house.  And he has restraining orders on 2 of her boyfriends.  They sneak in sometimes from an open bedroom window, he finds out and a ruckus starts.  Then a neighbor calls the police for excessive noise.  Could eventually become a real explosive situation.

Going to get busy before the day escapes me.  Hope everyone has a great Mother's Day !!

Morning all. A grey mothers day eve here in Illinois. Storms overnight. Misting right now. Got to decide do we want to play baseball or soccer today - I think the latter even though it'll be freezing out there. The youngest seems to have most fun with all the running. Hope to get up in the attic in a few to install these  12 baffles for air circulation.  Then to clean the house. Was prepping to mix concrete in a big bucket when I was dastardly attacked by water balloons several of which made their way into the powder. Oh well, so I added more powder and left the balloon remnants in - I was just pouring it over some rocks holding up um decorating the mailbox pole... Need more coffee. Cut up french bread for toast with homemade raspberry jam - a good breakfast.

Brutus, Sonic burgers were good - watched a bad sci-fi movie in your honor too 'Chronicles of Riddick'

Laz, I loved the photo at the end of BTB - the Illuminati!

Thunderstorms this morning, then cleared off by lunchtime.  Wonderful afternoon.  The only trouble I managed to get into at work today can wait until after vacationSmile,Wink, & Grin - assuming work is still there when I get back.  The automtive industry is going through some really strange times right now.

Took some time to sit out on my deck last night, enjoy a fire in the fire pot and watched a thunder storm pass to the north of town.  Spectacular lightening show!

Brutus - two of your replys got through.  I replied to your reply through the forum.  I'll cover it with an E-mail, just in case.

CNW1995 - I've mixed concrete in a wheelbarrow, in an electric mixer, had it delivered from a truck, and did the concrete mixing dance in El Savlador.  Water balloons is a new one!  Also, thanks for the weather report.  Normally one day of track time gets rained out at this event, but that leads to bench racing in the hotel lobbies - fun either way.

Looks like a weekend full of yard work.  The trick will be figuring out how to watch the F1 race on Mothers's Day.
