Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Soggy and 54 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Actually pulled out 2 1/2 days of good weather before storms rolled in yesterday afternoon. Wifey and I spent several hours at the dock cleaning our new "baby". She was really getting into her work, as she popped out of the cabin with green smudgees all over her front. I tried applying some cleaner/wax to the gel-coat, but spent way too much time scrubbing and hosing. Forgot to mention, when the boy and I were heading out into the bay Sunday morning, a switcher was working on the wharf to our starboard. "Hey Dad, best of both worlds...rails & sails!"
What's not to love?

Good Morning All,
Looks like summer is officially here, 101 days till labor day. Grass mowing, sailing, skiing, and evenings for trains. (We don't have rain here, so can't count on that.) Had a great weekend watched Indy and tried to watch Charlotte, but that didn't work to well. Did see a little of that on Monday. We had a great BBQ, and enjoyed the family. I did manage to get some pictures done on a certain AF Gondola, hope to get it posted real soon.
Also, advanced some layout modifications from the paper plannng stage to physical mock-up. Have a MTH station house going to move. Anyway going to put in on the outside of a curve. For it to fit, I will need to round off the platform corners. Wife didn't like that idea at all. Its her favorite building. Finally, told her I would either have to modify some window blinds (small sculpture on about 6 blades), then it would be fine. So the platform is going to be rounded.
Hard to get back into things today, need to be retrained after 3 days off. Then have a short week to boot. Well worth it.
I would bet we will here from the Chief today, I'm sure he has been up to the lake property for the weekend.
Take care, Got to get to work.
Don
A belated gift to all those who have served...(Jack at the Powell parade yesterday)
Wes ... that little fellow there is one of the reasons we served and fought for ... that picture says it all .... he's living free in a country where he can be proud and safe waving our flag .... god bless all the children .
Hi Don .... good to see ya ...
I had a nice, quiet day at work today. I finally finished fixing some rust on my brother's Grand Am this morning. I had been working on it since Friday, so I am glad that it is done. I also picked up a boxed postwar 3444 animated gondola yesterday.
A nice quiet rain is falling in the Loop. Will probably keep my student count down in class. Hope you all have a good night.

No rain yet but it's coming. No train running today as I am recovering from a sneak attack of my bowel system.

sir james I Howdy All No rain yet but it's coming. No train running today as I am recovering from a sneak attack of my bowel system. Because you don't eat GRITS!!!!!!! S.J.
Because you don't eat GRITS!!!!!!!
HOWDEEEE! Mighty proud to be here! The price tag is hanging from my new Sunday stray hat. Bet some will not know who I am talking about.
Back from the lake house. Great stay. Will hit the road real soon and go back. Mowed grass [wet] before I left as mowed Thursday PM. GROWS too fast. The new hose connection on the John Deere deck works. Hooked up hose and the turned on the blade. Washed out all the wet grass stuck under the deck.
Took laptop but country store parking lot was so full I did not get it out and use it. Rex [owner] made a fortune I know. Had to call for a load of gas [boats being filled constantly] and had to drive in to Henderson and get more beer. Unbelievable.
Worked Friday and Saturday. Got lots more done. Did take breaks and ride Lucy on golf cart a lot. Sunday, lazied around. Did launch Frankie and wifey on Jet Ski. Had to back truck into the water [was way back up in parking lot] and that was not fun. Yesterday, "tinkered" on wiring on the pontoon boat. Think I have it figured out. Rewire as guy has a mess. Hope to have it ready by end of this weekend. Will only be able to launch when water gets out of praking lot. "Big Sucker" [28 foot with metal sundeck on its top].
Glad to see all the "new guys" sticking with us. Read back several pages. Hope all are well. Pam is doing a lot better. Had a little rash today but think it came from cutting squash. They will get you. Some almost like briars. Brutus, hope Wifey is doong better. Fifey, have not heard of massive ship wrecks so guess the sailing is going good. JIBE HO!!!!!
Chat later. God bless all.

Evenin' FellasBelated Happy Memorial Day to all.Not sure if you all remember me telling this story a few weeks back, but my parents came down to visit the weekend before Easter. They wanted to go to Washington, DC to see the Cherry Blossoms and while we were down there we walked by the Vietnam Memorial. Now I know how my Dad feels about the Vietnam Conflict and I asked if he wanted to go visit it. At first he was quiet and simply said, 'I don't think so.' As we got closer I asked him, 'Are you sure? You don't get down here much. I know what it means to you and I don't want to force you to do something you don't want to.' Tears were welling in his eyes when he said, 'Well I guess I should. Do you know how to find Teddy?' Teddy was a friend of his that grew up down the street from him, he was the youngest of 4 brothers. He was shot at one point and went to the Phillipines for R&R, three days after he arrived back in Vietnam he was shot and killed. Dad didn't say much, but I could tell he was glad he was able to find his friend's name and remember the good ol' days one more time.
MichRR714 - UP as in Da Uoopers? 2nd Week of Deer Camp? Seeney Stretch, Shingleton, Copper Harbor? Pasties? The Library in Houghten? My dad's uncle had a cabin on Lake Michigan in Naubinway. Fond memories of that place.
Good visit with the kids in Hobart over the weekend. Wives went craft store shopping while my son and I watched Indy. I'm kind of surprised that Jim Neighbors is still singing as good as he did. Goooooleeee. Drive there and back was not too bad either - just one narrow escape with an idiot who did not check his blind spot as he was merging. Lots of police out watching the speed too.
Came back to find the neighbor laying a keel in his yard - about 100 cubits long, was babling something about rain.
Hey guys - was on earlier, talked to RT and then SJ for a little bit really early, but they had to go and so I got off - had some thunder for a while. Checked FB and emails and see I missed you guys 2 days in a row :(
Rich - great story, I can tell your friend touched a lot of people.
Charlie - MAN! Stay far away from there, Momma doesn't like trespassers on her property I'll bet!
Prayers for Miss Pam and also for all in need.
Got some emails, passed some on, and that's about it. Very tired today. Barely got a wink of sleep and all for nothing. Took off work at lunch to take my wife to the doctor only to find out that another test is needed to rule out some rare kind of leukemia. Go rule it out, I say. They will do weekly blood counts to stay on top of things for now and hope to have 2nd opinion on diagnosis in a month. Hope it is sooner and they change their mind. Thanks for all the prayers, I know that they are helping. My wife is just tired all the time, but actually her hemoglobin was up by 0.5 over the past week, to 8.5. Not normal, but trending in the right direction.
Welcome back 8ntruck - glad you had a good visit!
Mike, you can drive tonight, I'm going to enjoy an adult beverage and hope for some solid sleep tonight SJ has banilla and I'm hungry after eating so early today, so let's go. I'll set the way-back circuit and get everyone.
Doug Murphy - if you need some Lionel O31 switches, let me know.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Evenin' All.
Sir J, By any chance you didn't partake of some "sliders" yesterday did you ?
Museum went great yesterday, only a few speed violations but no drastic actions required. All the munchkins were great, even had a couple of brothers 7 & 8 yo running two trains on one main with TMCC.
Cleaning up the train room a bit, throwing out a lot of odds-n-ends of junkola that you never need til it's thrown out. Oh well, the price of progress ??????
Brent, Props to Pop, still don't think I could go there. To many memories and lots of unresolved anger.

Evening all,
Very busy day! Website worked overtime over the long weekend, had a lot of work today, and it was also Chris' 20th Bday. He had made previous arrangements to play golf with some older guys from the Community Playhouse where they all volunteer. So they said they would call him on Monday eve., to tell him what time to meet at the course. They arranged for a 6:30 tee time, and Chris was overwhelmed! He could believe he needed to get up that early, man was he upset! But managed to get there, tonight we went out for dinner and had a great time.
Got a really busy week going and then a very full weekend coming up. And in the meantime I've been working on some projects which have really been challenging my artistic talents. Oh well I'm sure it will all come together.
Brutus, Sure hope your wife gets some good reports really soon. The prayers continue.
Doug(dg), I share your feelings I would have difficulty with that as well. Somethings are just best left where they are.
Well better get busy, take care
Good morning all,
It is the tropics in SE Indiana with moist conditions and warm temps. Chief, the straw hat was a "Pearl" of a story. Brutus, hope all tests turn out ok for the missus. Driving the Tardis was a "milk" run last night. SOCCER starts for me tonight! First league game is at 6 PM. AJ is having Paul Tracy drive at Milwaukee for him this weekend. Could be interesting. Dad was over for a long visit last night. Got some 2.65 gasoline and helped wife with dishes. Got ready for tonight's game. Beacon is lit for tonight after the game. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it to "Points East" this morning. Work was busy yesterday. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Mornin' boys. A Stockport kinda day outside.
Buckeye - "Rails & Sails" We could start our own quarterly.
Chief - Sounds like you have been wearing the Admiral's cap lately. Oh, btw, looks like Lord Cromwell finally got his...again, and again, and again...
anjdevil -
88 - Thanks for sharing.
Wes - Totally serious---you've got to submit that to an armed forces website... "baseball, hotdogs, apple pie, and JACK!"
dbaker - Be thankful your boy is a keeper. We locked a young man up yesterday for bullying his parents upon returning home from his freshman year. He was under the impression that everyone was there to serve him. Chalk up another casualty of the "feel-good/politically correct" education system.
Morning all. Cloudy. Showers forcasted. Got to mow the grass and then Town Hall. Had lots of rain and graden is happy.
88, one [there are several more] of the reasons I visit The Wall everytime I go to DC, is to visit Willie "Pig" Farmer. African-American that was one week older than me. Born on our farm. We grew up together [7 African-American families on our farm and lots of kids about our age]. We worked together, swapped lies about our girls, played baseball in the pasture, basketball at my house [only house with a goal], laughed together, had fallings out, fought and made up. One week before coming home, he was coming back from up Country and his helicopter was shot down. He came home in a body bag.
Got to get some train running in before going back to the lake house. Hope all have a good and safe day. God bless all.
Good morning all. Grey but warmish here. Good class last night. One more for this quarter. Good remembrances. Prayers for your bride, Brutus. Thanks for the heads up about the switches - stands to reason if I got new curves, I'd need to replace the switches. Hmmmm. Prayers for Pam too. It's hard to believe Jim Nabors has been singing before the 500 for 31 years! Last day of high school for the daughter today. Graduation this Saturday. Kindergarden 'graduation' next week - and then there's the middle boy I will work to survive his freshman year finals. Endings and beginnings.

Fife - You are 100% Spot On, we are truly blessed. He has been a real pleasure. Not to brag, but bragging; He is currently on a brief break before SS starts. Sat. night we went to Sprint car races didn't get home until midnight, Sun he was up at 6:00, and down at the Comm. playhouse doing volunteer work for stage crew, then finished that at noon. Went to work at Sports Authority were he is a price/inventory auditor. Got off work at 8 pm, came home and we BBQ'd. Then Monday worked so he would have his B-day off. Then the golf game us with 3 retired guys, and they asked him to be part of their regular 4 some. He commented to me about how much he learns by listening to them, and they are really nice. And it goes on that way. I'm sure others have similiar feelings regarding their kids, but everyday I appreciate his being. Currently, his plan is to finish AA degree, then wants a BS in Geology, and would like to enter the military as an officer. Ive told him he will always have aplace to live as long as he maintains his current attitude and values.
Sorry, to bore you all, but couldn't resist.
We got a storm overnite with more expected today. The last church Awana nite is today. Looks like an indoor carnival this time.
Chief welcome home but no grits thank you very much. No sense me suffering from seat warming and grits. I did take some train catalogs into the place with me, but no train running since sunday.....S.J.
Brent, been a long time since I have been there. On the family and friends that are on there, we would take paper and a pencil or crayon and do a rubbing of the name. Too many there.
Don, congratulations on Chris. I have been guilty of talking up my kids here and I don't see anything wrong with it. After all, they are our legacy.
Chief, hope for Miss Pam to be feeling well and no more problems with all that.
Brutus, prayers for your bride. Know you are all anxious, but also wanting answers.
God Bless,
Dennis

MichRR - Someone was wundering "How come Laz's 800 lb bear don't write no more...?" Now we know...
Hey!
Hot and humid today upwards of 85 or so....sunny and way too warm right now.
Rained AGAIN last night for about 3-4 hours – like we need MORE...steppin’ round the poodles again.
Sending off a MTH GG1 and getting a chip for a K4s Torpedo. Talked to MTH and as much I really don’t like the product so much, the customer service is pretty good. I’ll be getting back a Southern Pacific ABA set and a Union Pacific FEF from repair late this/early next week. The aforementioned products were delivered BACK to MTH as there was no one to sign for them. The products will be delivered to me at the “real” job.
Later this week (of course it’s already Wednesday), I’ll have to contend with Lionel on 2 of the products I have left, one of which is a Southern 0-8-0 switcher and I forget the other. The Lionel GG1 from the Majestic set has returned and I have put it with the boxed set for e-bay-age next week.
Prayers for the wives!
Don – nothing wrong with the “good” kids...I have 2 of my own.
Brent – nothing I can say-it’s understandable and honorable.
Wes – nice picture of Jack!
Off to the Dr., back is giving up and need to figure out what happened.
Later!
fifedog MichRR - Someone was wundering "How come Laz's 800 lb bear don't write no more...?" Now we know...
Still laughing at that one.
Don .... never boring hearing of a great son ... sounds like he had a wonderful dad who did a fantastic job of raising him ... hat's off to you .... also be proud of yourself for doing a fantastic job ... and of course ... mother too !
