Morning all, Hot weather is with us again for the week end with 90 plus temps.  Our church is having their annual festival/fund raiser this week end.  Might go up there after the sun goes down and play Bingo or go on some rides with my grandson.  Food is basic but lots of variety.  Anyway it's all for a good cause.  Did not run trains yesterday account too hot in garage.  Been listening to some Louis Armstrong audio tapes while I walk which I taped off of a NPR radio program some years ago.  It took up 6 audio tapes and covered his whole life and career.  This was a real jewel that I rediscovered forgetting that I had it.  One tape features duets he did with a lot of popular singers like Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday Jack Teagarden and others.  Can't get over the good sound quality on these tapes.  Maybe it's because I've been listening with headphones while walking. Doing some heavy duty watering this morning because of the pending hot weather.  I've been on the fence about buying a MTH ACL 0-6-0 switcher before they're all gone.  I've seen them for around $525 from mail order.  Hate to spend that much dough for a small engine but what can you do if you want it.

Have a good week end,

Ray

Afternoon all. Sunny and pleasant here today. Back from a morn of church activities - thanking volunteers, etc. Ray, today's the day I listen to old-time rad-io on WDCB-FM over the Internet.  They played a series of Armstrong interviews recently. More first family drama last night. Sometimes parents can drive ya crazy...

Doug, I love stuff like that old time radio etc.  I also listen to Garrison Keillor on PBS who has some good music on his show sometimes.  He used to have Chet Atkins and some good fiddle players with him. now and then.like Johnny Gimble from Texas.

Good afternoon all,

It has been constantly changing weather today in SE Indiana with rain and sunshine and slightly cooler.  Reffed two games today.  Second game had only two girls for one team and seven for the other.  We "drafted" one of the U-12 boys, changed two uniforms, played 5 on 5 with no goalies and no offsides, and had an interesting high scoring game that ended 8-6.  While writing this, I am also listening to time trials at the track.  Lots of activity with even some bumping.  I finished mowing the yard last night which was a good thing as we got more rain.  I had a cinnamon roll and some cereal for breakfast this morning on the dining car.  We did watch "Numb3rs" last night. Beacon is lit.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Howdy All !

Trying again, hopefully I won't get the "OOPS" again and again, etc.

Been doing mostly lurking & not much posting, a bit of a curmudgeon of late.

Sounds as though most of those with ailments are doing better. Thumbs Up

Fife, Congrats on the new toy. How long before we see her stern with a highly stylized "Flamingo Flyer" painted on it.

Doug M, A very belated Happy B-Day and many more to come. Others had shown very colorful and probably quite tasty B'day cakes but I would opt for something a little more humourus and possibly a bit more "Texture". Whistling

Jon, A very big Thank You to you and all your friends who participate in the "Welcome Home". Bow

Later all.

Just gotta make a "Kitty Litter Cake" for my grandson when he is just a tad older so he can gross out his friends. Think back a bit, I know you ain't that old, little boys have always been into gross and normally the more gross the better. Thumbs Up

Evening, Y'all!
Well, we had a party for my son's birthday.  While his real big day is not until July, we had this today so that his friends from school could attend.  It was a "No Gifts Please" party as the kid has too much as it is.  Of course, I would not get upset if someone gave me....I mean him a train.  We had the party at Chuck E Cheese, which is not the best food in the world, but no mess, no fuss, just pay the bill and walk away.

Wife is working tonight, so I am home alone with the kids.  Think I'll teach them how to ride the couch cushions down the stairs....Just kidding.  Bout time for bed, so time to brush teeth and pick out some books.  Hope everyone has a blessed week ahead.

Oh, and Fife, you may want to check into those ventless toilets that require no plumbing.  I know they have them at camp stores and catalogs.  Might be the ticket for a confined head and from what I hear, no smell to weaken the stomachs of the land lubbers.

Looks like a good time, Charlie!  Worked all day on my friend's boat.  He had stripped off everything above the deck - pontoon boat.  When I showed up they had put new carpet on and we then put replacement aluminum stock all around, replaced the back side rails on both sides and put in the back bench seat with a new gas tank.  Really, he needs to put on the front rails and the console and he could go fishing!

Tomorrow I need to work on the basement and then we're gonna see Star Trek!

Banilla - yum!  On the way!  I see a couple beacons and RT, Charlie and Wes and I have already been hanging out with SJ.  On the way, guys!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Yuck on the kitty box ...

I wonder how many of us are bidding against each other on Ebay .... hope not . Fife I know it sounds crazy but tell the princess to lie on her back ... and only look up at the sky if she gets seasick .... NOT TOWARDS THE SUN .... doe's'nt see the motion as bad .... the visual is usually worse than the physical movement .... until they get their sea legs . Works for some .

I thought I'd make a try at the coffee pot today since I just finishing repairing one and am enjoying the first few cups from it's rebirth. Not too much train work as of late, but I did finally get the e-clip for the front truck of the 2224W tender and after only 5 tries got it on. I also cleaned some more of the used O-27 track that I got hold of. If I can get the new cord on the RW-110 we might just be in business.

Last night I was browsing YouYube and came across a wonderful video of the Nevada Northern Railway which I used to volunteer for. Apparently they recently got the #93 back in service for her 100th anniversary. It had totally escaped me that she hit the century mark. I used to help service this loco for runs and before I left had the honor of a cab ride w/ the only woman engineer on the Ely Route at the time. I'll post the URL here for those interested:

Darned if wasn't checking out videos of Alco diesels too. There is nothing like the sound of the NNR's RS's, except maybe other RS's. I think I'm am getting interested in O-scale diesels too. This could get ugly...Laugh

DougNaG:  Yuck.

Charlie:  Nice group!  Looks like a great time had by all!  Hope you and SJ have a great time tonight!

Fife:  The golden rule is to send them to the 'Back of 'da boat'.

Sick still (again?).  Woke up with sore throat and sinus issues...Stayed in bed...felt great around lunch.  Took a trip to hobby shop for more wood for flooring.  Dinner time, Back to sick.

Goog Morning from Beautiful Ohio.

Yesterday we headed up to Ohio Amish Country.  Sugar Creek used to be the Ohio Central's Tourist Train depot until it was shut down several years ago.  I still haven't determined what plans, if any, they have for bringing back the trains, but without the trains Sugar Creek it is a dead town.  It used to be really busy on Saturdays.

I was reading old issues of CTT yesterday.  Bob did a review of the Williams Sharks several months ago.   Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Pat...The pot has been talked about for years.   Most of those guys that complain about the pot have not:

1. Talked in person to any of us on the pot.

2. Visited another members layout.

3. Met up with us at York for the photo.

4.Traded train cars.

At one time we posted a thread of who we had actually met from the forum.  People would be surprised who has met who.  I have talked on the phone with members from sea to shinning sea.  One member and his wife have even stayed at my house overnight.  The freindships did not form overnight, they have been cultivated (a farming term) for at least the last five or more years.  Let them talk.  BTW, if you in the vicinity of Central Ohio and I am at home, we would love you to visit.  (Blueberry likes to sit on the deck and watch the Garden RR.)

HI GYZ,

WOW lots to be caught up on.

Went trout fishing last nite and got chased by huge thunderstorm.  Got drenched but felt good because of the warm muggy afternoon.  Me and BRO stood on the banks of the creek while enjoying a Ol MIL, getting sopping wet.  Turned creek muddy, so went home had a fire and cooked up dogs and burgers.  Oh yeah, BRO caught one trout about 5 inches and that was it for us.  Musta been the ensueing storm that turned the fish off?

DOUG,Happy B-Day to you!  Hope you got something with flanges?

FIFE,Piratenice boat.

BUCKEYE, TGIF, forgot to tell you.Dunce

JELECTRIC, glad your back in PA.  Had a nice trip.

Good Morning

Suns out, but chilly.

I am waiting to go play trains with Charlie early this afternoon. He has two  new scale steam engines I have not played with yet. Got my TMCC remote ready to go. I had not read the forum post about improvements since page one so after reading above I peeked. Just as I always suspected the comments came from people who do not particapate here. Isn't that always the way.

Enjoy your Sunday...S.J.

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Wet and 63 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Enjoyed the afternoon at the dock swabbing the decks and eating snowballs.  Then enjoyed seeing the 14 in victory lane last night.

Morning everyone!  I know, unusual  for me to be posting on Sunday morning as at this time, I should be in Church.  Bride worked last night, but both kids are sick and so I had to stay home so SWMBO could get some sleep.  Sure do miss the service though.  It is like trying to head into the big game without having had nourishment.  I know I will be a bit less empty throughout the week ahead.  May try to pick it up on TV later.

Got a great deal yesterday.  Not on trains, but on flatware.  We never had the complete set from when we got married.  Each setting was $95.00.  Well, Dillards is discontinuing this particular setting, so I got 7 more settings to make 12, plus, the "Host set".  Each setting was $15, and the host set was $18.  Saved about $600.00.  I know you guys won't be impressed, but your wives probably would be.

Since I am home, I most likely will get some much needed layout work done.  Just have to keep the kids quiet for a few more hours.  I am on call this coming week, so we never know what my days will be like.  Have to take advantage of the time we have.

Fife, I know some of the older black ladies around these parts say the best thing to prevent sea sickness is green apples.  I have not tried it yet, but as with many of their tales, usually some element of truth to it.  For a few bucks, you should have plenty for the family to test the idea.  Besides, ya gotta eat anyway.  Amazing some of the life lessons you can take in from the older generations if you just take the  time to listen to them.

Hope everyone has a blessed day.

 Good Morning !

submmbob - Welcome to the pot, we need fresh brew around here, its enjoyable, stop in frequently!  Sign - Welcome

fife - Looking forward to these great nautical stories that will be coming soon!  I'm sure don't need to remind you "Be Careful Out There!".  Have you taken or consider taking the Coast Guard small boat owners course? I'm envious!

Dennis, Hope she gets to feeling better soon.

Neighbor update!  House on the east has been very quiet, (dancers place).  House to the west, had some domestic problems, the wife moved out! (#2).  The guy in their now has this 2 1/2 story place by himself.  Strange place I live.

Brother and SIL came down Fri., to finalize and clear out her Mom's last remaining effects.  We ended up upgrading a couple of TV's, and I got a storage cabinet for train room.  Then working this weekend, actually did two shows yesterday.  One was only in the morning, the other was all day.  Going to be working all day today as well.  Also, have a remote radio spot scheduled for this afternoon.  (That will be good for business.)

Hope everyone has a great day, and will check in tonight.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny, cool day. 55 degrees. Going up to 62 today with sunshine all day.

It has been a busy week. Wife has been sick and is slowly getting better. Looks like a flu, again. I'm taking it easy today.

Yes, #14 won the Nascar race. Good for Tony.

I love sitting on your back deck, Buckeye, watching the Garden Railroad.

Dining car was here and we had the usual for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Sunday

As by some of the posts and a special I saw the other day ... this new strain of flu seems to hit more and be more agressive towards women for some reason ... they don't know why as of yet ... of course that's what tv said ... I'm no expert .

Don ... great idea on that Coast Guard course .... also Fifey ... every boat I got I went over every inch of wiring ... cleaned and waterproofed every connection with silicone . Salt mist plays the devil with metal ... any bare areas I covered and sealed .... worth it in the long run . Also do you have a flare gun or a GPS with nautical ?

Fife, after reading all this nautical talk about your boat, I had to finally go back and look up the original post and pictures.  I must have missed it first time around.  It looks like a fun thing to have and I wish you a safe and happy voyage with it.  You be very careful with those children.  Are you sailing on the great lakes or the ocean or where?  Not to imply that this is a problem for you but remember that alcohol and salt water don't mix if any of your guest get that idea.  My brother is an old salt fisherman on the Chesapeake Bay with several decades of exerience on the water and even he came close to losing a son who went overboard after a dropped rod and reel.  Luckily it all turned out well.  Only damage was a water damaged cell phone my nephew was wearing.  Moral of the story was that none of this would have happened had he been wearing a life preserver.  Good luck,

Ray
