Good morning all:

Chief - Great expose on Grits. Thumbs Up Of course being in Virginia I totally agree with every word. I do want to know - did you write that out on napkins during a Town Council working dinner? Whistling

As an aside, your entire Grits thing came through on the email notice ALL ON ONE LINE!

On the Yankee invasion on Roseyville, us below the Mason-Dixson line will rally around the Stars & Bars to defend Roseyvile. Bow Just say the word.

laz57 - I watched the Jet Trains on YouTube. Very interesting. But where have I been? These things have been around for 25 Yrs. and I had never heard of them! Some even had train bells and whistles.

Could part of the slowness of this thread be the fact that several of us have "Senior Moments" and double or triple post? Blush

No NASCAR this weekend. Whats a body to do? Run trains of course!

See you later.

Patrick

PATERICK,

I agree .Where have I been, too?  This was the first I saw them.  All though pretty cool with the chuff and all.

Good Morning,

Nice warm morning here in sunny south Florida! Now we need to invite the native American Indians in to do their Rain Dance, have not seen rain for almost three months, at least any kind of rain that will wet more than upper surface for two minutes. Very dry down here in south Florida, we could have huge wild fires because it is so dry! Can't cut grass as that amounts to a major dust storm because it is so dry.

Sold some more stuff on tuesday afternoon($73.00), so maybe I will sell a little more again this weekend.

Still working on the Lazer Art kit for my train layout when I get a chance.

At work I got second place on the perfect audit list for February, that's four months in the top three for perfect audits, maybe I will get a decent raise at my reveiw time.

By the way I noticed Bob Keller a.k.a. ogaugeoverlord posted a new photo by his name, is he trying to be funny or what?

Good Morning

Sunny, still in  the 30s. Walked by the instant grits at the store this morning, just seeing that word on the box gave me cold chills.

Buckeye, I had a great line after your "Chief being related" line, but I decided better not say it.

Charlie and Kurt are expected this evening for some play  time, looking forward to their visit.  Happy Friday 13th...S.J.

CHUCK,

With DA CHIEF's commentary of GRITS, I have to give this version of the COFFEE POT a 1 star rating.  I might have to keep the other pot open?

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 28 degrees. Going up to 50 today, with clear skies and sunshine.

I would have posted earlier, but after reading Chief's post on grits, I had to use the bathroom. Grits = lumpy Cream of Wheat.

Today is a busy day. I have a few errands to run and the usual chores around the house. Then, I will force myself to run trains. Very relaxing. It's time to do some lub and dusting on the layout.

Dining car was here for the usual breakfast of Cheerios.

Buckeye....TGIF

Y'all have a great Friday.

Morning all. Cold today again. Hopefully the contractors are painting today. Can't get ahold of the carpet guy - did get an unexpected call from the insurance co. Get this, they said 'we made a mistake and owe you more money on this claim so are sending out another check' - LOL, the contractor will be happy. Getting hard to work on the layout with everything from upstairs filling up the rest of the basement. But TGIF, TGIF, TGIF.

I remember those ballet class / recital days. Recitals were horrific. Hundreds of dancers, crabby parents and siblings, interiminable in length.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 30s.  Lucas will be home next week on spring break and looking for a job.  Wife and I went to a program at the library last night featuring a fiddle player who did Irish music.  It was very nice.  Went to the YMCA afterward for weights and soccer juggling.  Left toe let me know it does not appreciate being used to kick the ball yet.  Work is a bear with no progress on weeklong problem.  At least I did not have to drive today.  Beacon will be lit.  I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning along with a cinnamon roll.  IHEHAGD.

Keep on training,

Mornin' boys.  Overcast and 37 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Good workin on the railroad weather.  Did some hard shell scenery in 3 areas last night.  Will paint and decorate them today.  Still have two trouble spots left for scenery.

Chief - Sounds like the TM is a bit self-serving.  Ax him now, or everyone else will start to look smaller along with him...

Good morning.  Yankees are a miserable lot.  Send us a high of 39 degrees and rain and more rain.  Then they keep posting to a thread that was closed.  So here is the thought of the day:

Grits

What Are Grits? Nobody knows.

Some folks believe grits are grown on bushes and are harvested by midgets by
shaking the bushes after spreading sheets around them.

Many people feel that grits are made from ground up bits of white corn. These
are obviously lies spread by Communists, terrorists and Yankees [all the same]. Nothing as good as
Grits can be made from corn.

The most recent research suggests that the mysterious Manna that God rained
down upon the Israelites during their time in the Sinai Desert was most likely
Grits. Critics disagree, stating that there is no record of biscuits, butter,
salt, and red eye gravy raining down from the sky, and that God would not punish
his people by forcing them to eat Grits without these key ingredients.

How Grits are Formed.

Grits are formed deep underground under intense heat and pressure. It takes
over 1000 years to form a single Grit. Most of the world's grit mines are in
South Carolina, and are guarded day and night by armed guards and pit bull dogs.

Harvesting the Grit is a dangerous occupation, and many Grit miners lose their
lives each year so that Grits can continue to be served morning after morning
for breakfast (not that having Grits for lunch and dinner is out of the
question).

Yankees have attempted to create synthetic Grits. They call it Cream of Wheat.
As far as we can tell, the key ingredients of Cream of Wheat are Elmer's
Glue and shredded styrofoam. These synthetic grits have also been shown to
cause nausea, and may leave you unable to have children.

Historical Grits

As we mentioned earlier, the first known mention of Grits was by the Ancient
Israelites in the Sinai Desert. After that, Grits were not heard from for
another 1000 years. Experts feel that Grits were used during this time only
during secret religious ceremonies, and were kept from the public due to their
rarity.

The next mention of Grits was found amidst the ruins of the ancient city of
Pompeii in a woman's personal diary. The woman's name was Herculaneum
Jemimaneus (Aunt Jemima to her friends.)

The 10 Commandments of Grits

I. Thou shalt not put syrup on thy Grits.
II. Thou shalt not eat thy Grits with a spoon or knife.
III. Thou shalt not eat Cream of Wheat and call it Grits, for this is
blasphemy .
IV. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's Grits.
V. Thou shalt use only salt, butter, and red-eye gravy as toppings for thy
Grits.
VI Thou shalt not eat Instant Grits.
VII. Thou shalt not put ketchup on thy Grits.
VIII. Thou shalt not put margarine on thy Grits.
IX. Thou shalt not eat toast with thy Grits, only biscuits made from scratch.
X. Thou shalt eat grits on the Sabbath for this is manna from heaven.

How to Cook Grits

For one serving of Grits:
Boil 1.5 cups of water with salt and a little butter.
Add 5 TBsp of Grits.
Reduce to a simmer and allow the Grits to soak up all the water.
When a pencil stuck into the grits stands alone, it is done. That's all
there is to cooking grits.

How to make red eye gravy

Fry salt cured country ham in cast iron pan. Remove the ham when done and add
coffee to the gravy and simmer for several minutes. Great on grits and
biscuits.

How to Eat Grits

Immediately after removing your grits from the stove top, add a generous
portion of butter or red eye gravy. (WARNING:Do NOT use low-fat butter.) The
butter should cause the Grits to turn a wondrous shade of yellow. (Hold a
banana or a yellow rain slicker next to your Grits; if the colors match, you
have the correct amount of butter.)

In lieu of butter, pour a generous helping of red eye gravy on your grits. Be
sure to pour enough to have some left for sopping up with your biscuits. Never,
ever substitute canned or store bought biscuits for the real thing because they
caused cancer, rotten teeth and impotence.

Next, add salt. (NOTICE: The correct ration of Grit to Salt is 10:1 Therefore
for every 10 grits, you should have 1 grain of salt.)

Now begin eating your grits. Always use a fork, never a spoon, to eat Grits.
Your grits should be thick enough so they do not run through the tines of the
fork.

The correct beverage to serve with Grits is black coffee.
DO NOT use cream or, heaven forbid, Skim Milk.)

Your grits should never be eaten in a bowl because Yankees will think its Cream
of Wheat.

Ways to Eat Leftover Grits: (Leftover grits are extremely rare)

Spread them in the bottom of a casserole dish, Cover and place them in the
refrigerator overnight.
The Grits will congeal into a gelatinous mass.

Next morning, slice the Grits into squares and fry them in 1/2" of cooking
oil and butter until they turn a golden brown.

Many people are tempted to pour syrup onto Grits served this way. This is, of
course, unacceptable.

TRADITIONAL BLESSING BEFORE EATING GRITS

May the lord bless these grits,
May no D----Yankee ever get the recipe,
May I eat grits every day while living,
And may I die while eating grits.
AMEN

I do hope this helps.  God bless.

Good Morning all!  Got to sleep late as it is lead up to spring break and we typically have a slow case for these next few days.  None today, so new guy is in early to cover anything small.  I'll head in shortly.

Kurt, I doubt they'd get me in tights, and once they did, they'd quickly get me out of them.  I did have to take the daughter.  Clearly something mothers are supposed to do.  I sat in the waiting room and it was just buzzing with multiple conversations.  I just closed my eyes....trying to get to my "Happy Place".  Finally, kids come out and I quickly snatch up my daughter and head out.

Morning guys,

Ok I'll confess before this gets out....Dennis I was in the same situatioan as you, found myself hanging around the Dance Studio waiting for the Princess to be done with ballet/modern/jazz classes and it is awkward.  That being said, the owner of the Dance Studio and my loverly bride DARED me to take ballet on a bet ($20).  I bit, took the class, made the recital and no, I did NOT have to wear tights.  Made my wife eat crow and to be honest, for that one hour on Tuesday I felt better and was a real hero to my daughter.Smile,Wink, & Grin

I was also in a Patriotic presentation, myself(firefighter), a police officer and representitives (uniformed) from the military.  I was honored to wear my HFD bunker gear and Asst Chief's helmet and holding the American Flag.  Got a standing O from the crowd.  This was May 2002.

It's foggy today up to 78 I think.  I got to do the bills here at work, and then later, I'm gonna made a real run at getting another bike.  It's riding weather and now the HD has an oil leak....Banged Head.

Speaking of HD, I'm going to put up the MTH HD set for sale on Sunday, but not before running down to the Harley shop and see if I can get it sold to them...could be fun.

Check ya later!

I did the final stain/polyurethane on the control panel for the layout last night.  Had to wait till then as it was 86 here yesterday.  Not sure what the weekend calls for, but rumor has it the yanks are trying to invade again.

Chief, good luck with the town manager thing.  That is one position that certainly needs someone of integrity.  If they will lie about the small stuff, what happens when the big stuff comes along.  If you and the rest of the board don't have confidence in him, it would be time for him to go.  Regarding the kids, tough call, but we can't pretend bad behavior is acceptable from anyone....perhaps a lesson their father needs to learn and pass on to the little ones.

God Bless,
Dennis

Don, With regards to that rather funky car with a truck that doesn't want to turn, No problem. Just add some more glue so there is no chance of it ever turning then pull one axle from each truck converting it from a 4axle to a 2axle car. Mite look reall snappy with a Thomas & Friends set that way. Clown

Doug, I think I found the problem.  When I glued the truck back on, I think I had the coupler facing the wrong way.  I didn't notice it at first, but the knuckle was keeping the truck from spinning.  However, because I glued the plastic pin in the car, it won't spin around far enough.  So I think I will have to replace it with one of my MTH trucks.  The only difference is they have real springs not the plastic simulated ones.  I will need to take the top off the car in order to get the screw in the coupler, but that won't be a problem.  By the way the black pock marks on the wheels are from the 3-n-1 oil I think.

Regarding this thread and overall performance, I don't think it has anything to do with the pictures.  With all the pics in avatars, signatures, etc..  If it was the pictures it wouldn't start up so fast, when new.  Unless we go through and remove all the avatars & signatures pics.  I believe the problem is the number of people accessing the pot at the same time.  The morning hours are the busiest, just as a poll when you log on if you look at the number of people on the forum and included it, then what it was when you leave we might see something.

Right now there are 46 guests, and 19 members on line.  (This include ALL the forumas at this site.) 10:25 pm PST.

While surfing thru E-Bay I found the perfect little accessory that anybody operating their layout in their garage could use.

http://cgi.ebay.com/o-scale-miniature-train-layout-structure-MTH-Lionel_W0QQitemZ160321134039QQcmdZViewItemQQptZModel_RR_Trains?hash=item160321134039&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A3%7C65%3A10%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

Now if you were to go for this accessory you would almost have to put it into a garage on your layout with the door open. Clown Big Smile

Tuff two days.  Very stressfull.  Town Manager problems.  Lied about something I supposedly said.  Have witness I did not say what he told I said.  Confronting him tomorrow with Mayor Pro-tem and Town Atty.  Most Board members want to fire him.  Even if I had said what he claimed, it should have never left his office.  That is one concern of the Board [and me] and then a lie.  We will see.

Small town politics squabbles.   What makes it more fun is that everyone is related to the Mayor.  Laugh  Most small towns sit there and fight and then look up one day and low and behold there are a bunch of newcomers in town.  Can you say BUCKEYES?  Then the newcomers vote out the old timers and the BUCKEYES take over the town.  Smile Our master plan is working perfect in Roseyville.  Chuck and I should own the place in ten years.

Since the photos are not stored on the CTT server, how do photos slow down the the CTT servers?   At the bottom of every page is a icon to connect to Community Server.  Okay tech guys what does that mean?  I think I know, but I'll let you guys explain the details.

Not a joking matter.  Serious!!  This guy may lose his job and he is single parent with two very young kids [boy and girl].

BTW: all the Buckeyes coming ot Roseyville convert to GRITS fast and spit on Ohio.  If not, we run them out of town.

Thought it was an internet thing but other sites were running fine.  Then went to pay bills on-line and the SECU site was as slow as CTT was earlier this AM.

Man, the Yanks have invaded.  Turned colder and had to wear long sleave today.  Went to feed deer [5 waiting and 2 foxes running around too] and had to wear jacket and my hat.  BURR since we have been in the 80's for a few day.  Full day of meetings tomorrow.  Later.

  Fellas,
I would recommend no longer posting photos on the Pot. I think that contributes to our problem.

Also, for those that seem to be having a lot of locking problems, if you are using Internet Explorer/Exploder I would HIGHLY recommend deleting your temporary internet files. If you don't know how to do this let me know. I had to clear Susie-Q's cache over the weekend and after 30 minutes of waiting it finally finished and low-and-behold I have not had any problems with this site. I did have a problem yesterday on my desktop, switched to the laptop - no problems - back to desktop - problems - cleared desktop's cache... no problems.

I agree, but something else is going on.  My whole system was slowing down with this site.  I completely cleaned my computer house this morning, ran defrag, the whole shebang, and still like molasses in winter.

Something changed this afternoon, as everything is running faster.

#4 was locked right after Bob's post.  Then Laz was able to post to it.  Not sure what is going on here.

The Chief is leading everyone astray. Pirate Go back, go back!!!!  Don't go over the cliff with the CHIEF!!!Smile,Wink, & Grin

As I stated in the other coffee pot

"

Well I see chief has been eating to much grits again he now has 2 coffee pots going. Its hard enough keeping up with one coffee shop let alone 2 but thats what you get from being a mayor you keep people confused so they never know what your doing and its now flowing over here to the forum geeeze!"

I guess we need bob or bergie to lock the other one. just don't seem right were only 12 days into it lol

Fellas,
I would recommend no longer posting photos on the Pot.

For those having problems while on FireFox I don't know what to tell you as I'm not a FireFox guy.

Went to the trainroom when I got home to do some reliminary engineering studies on my bridge. I have determined that I need to go to HomeDespot to get some lumber... I'm almost out of scraps too...

Watching PSU take apart IU in bassetball... 11:00 to go and PSU is up 22

Good Evening all

Busy at work today but the day flew by.

A new pot?  Oh well.  They let us play in their yard.

Buckeye – Happy Friday eve

Need  to study a bit.

May God bless

Hope wife gets home in time so I don't have to go to ballet..... oh the joys of fatherhood.

Dennis:  Be happy you don't  have to appear with your daughter in a recital......in tights (yikes).......yet.  Speedo's are looking pretty good about now huh.

Ole Timer:  We found a great store here in Ann Arbor called Everyday Wines.  All about $12...the problem is that you bring in the 6-pack bag, fillit up and get a 10% discount.  Good thing this rack only holds 9.
