Chuck,

I made you a copy of the Roseyville Christmas Parade that was on the big city cable stations today in HD.  I think you will really like the parade.  The pigs pulling the parade's float with the queen and king rated right up there with the Rose Parade.  The marching plunging plumbers from Porta Johns are Us won the band competition again this year.

Evenin' All,

Wow, what a Censored [censored] weekend. Little Mr. K, our grandson, came down with some sort of stomach virus several weeks ago and it finally worked it's way up the family tree to granny earlyfri am and grampa early sat. Even though we were both sick as &^%& I am EXTREMELY happy about one thing two bathrooms,Blush [:I].

I swear our weather has really gotten dangerous, the winds were just howling last nite and most of today. The local weather report was calling reduced winds tomorrow but maintaing the red flag warning for fire hazard. Especially after tonites relative humidity is 0 and not expected to go up much come sunrise.

Well I'm done for the nite, gonna go see if I can keep down some chicken soup.

Someone must have done some changes in software.  I have gotten the psot screen without disabling the Ad-aware and other blockers.  Still have to hold down control key to get the smiles or Microsoft and Ad-aware blocks it.  But this has made it easier for posting.   Had hanging of the green tonight at Church.  Cold and windy.  We had cold rain right after the parade was over.  I smiled and waved.  No train work today.  Cold and wind chills in the 30's tomorrow but I will probably be out on the table saw cutting and then inside assembling benchwork.  All have a great week.  God bless.

Doug, hop you and your wife get to feeling better soon!

Wind is howling outside. Temps may get to upper 20's tonight with brutal chill factor. Children's choirs had their Christmas program at the church tonight. Always fun to watch because you never know what the younger ones might do or say!

Having fun running trains on the Christmas layout. Running postwar stuff today. Got the 2035 smoking but whistle tender sounds like a garbage disposal.

Busy weekend. Sat am - Scouts to retired folks home for Christmas Tree decorating and caroling. Got the rest of the indoor Christmas decorations put up. Lots of cleaning while putting up decorations. Getting daughters room ready for repainting next weekend.

I have to go out of town tomorrow afternoon for a 3 day trip to Phoenix area. Back on Thursday night. May not be able to check in.

45 and sunny today. Full moon tonight and no clouds. Hard freeze. Will get to 50's for the rest of the week.

Hope all of you who are ill get well soon!

Have a great week all!

It is currently 17 degrees in Buckeyeland with a clear sky.

Trying to do a small project per day on the layout.  It is the small things that count.

The Arctic Region is checking to say hello. It is a balmy 17°F above Zero— I am going to say that again 17°F above zero! Feels like a spring day in the northlands, when temps warm up the frost comes up on the roads and makes driving slick at the intersections. It easy to tell who is new to the North by their driving when they approach an intersection. Another thing usually happens when it warms up, it snows! So far this year we have had very little snow, maybe only a foot or so far. We need more of it to keep the frost from driving in to deep. Our frost lines go to about 48" to 56" deep each winter so we have to sink our footings pretty deep up here. Without the snow for insulating value the cold just goes right down deep! I had a little extra time to post a few pictures of our Christmas layout on one of the other threads. I still have a little work to do before the layout is finished but it is up and the sounds of trains rattling along fill the livingroom! (Now it is the Christmas season to me.) While it is warmer I will hang the outside Christmas lights on the house and in some of the spruce trees. LAZ: how was your hunting this weekend? Hope everything went well and you bagged a big buck. Best regards from the Freezer! Kevin T. Wow, I just noticed my returns are not being registered in the text so everything is one big paragraph, thats strange?

Good morning, everyone.

Not much new to report today. We are expecting our first snow flakes of the season any minute now. A dusting to an inch is predicted. Ran a lot of trains this weekend. Mostly post war and our new K-Line Pacific steamer.

I won an auction last night for a 2429 Livigston car. That give me an entire set of 2056, 2046W, 2421,2422,2423, 2429. That was a fairly rare set, only offered in 1952.

I gotta stop buying trains!

Have a nice day!

Good morning all,

It is cold in SE Indiana with highs in the 20s today.  This is more like Alaska?!?!  Speaking of which, I really enjoy the comments from AKKevin.  It really puts a different perspective on the weather.  I really did not do much yesterday, but for some reason, I did not get to post either.  We did get the tree up and decorated.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is 17 degrees and clear blue skies. Must be all of Ohio. Going up to a warm ?  32 degrees. There were some snow flurries for a minute this a.m., but no clouds. Hmmmm.

Today is a typical Monday. Have a few errands to run and some little things to do around the house. Tomorrow, we travel up to Lakewood, OH. I have my 6 month check up with my Surgeon. So far, everything is healing up fine. Muscles still ache, once in a while. This should be my last visit. Hopefully. It has been a long year. But GOOD.

I am off to the Dining Car. Breakfast is served.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Good Morning,

I too am glad to see Kevin's reports from the great white north country.  Kinda keeps things in perspective.  It was a cool 39 on the way in this am and should be going up to the mid 60s.  Not much happening in the train world.  I have been getting ready for visitors for the holidays.  Only train running is around the tree.  Hope y'all have a great day.

HI GIZ,

Hope everyone had a good weekend?  28 and not tooo bad here.  We had a F1 and F2 tornado on friday afternoon here about 8 miles away.  Lots o damage.  Wife had an 4 hour drive home from work.  About 2million dollars in damage and one 50 yr old woman died when a tree fell on her car waiting at a red light.  Winds blew a block building over 3 miles from my house.

As far as the deer hunting went.  I pushed all day long for the other GIZ and saw only 5 doe no buck.  Nobody else saw any buck either, oh well got this weekend and then the flintlock season after Christmas.

BUCKEYE and ROY and all the other GIZ,  I will be posting my new email adress later tonite.  Got to get it set up if my wife ever gives me my password?  We went to cable set up and it is much faster.

Also will post pics of the brother inlaws big deer.

Ran trains last nite for an hour, no pile ups.

Have a good one.

Good morning from a frigid Chicago where it is colder than Fairbanks, Alaska - currently 13 degrees.  I enjoyed a nice warm Sunday eating chili and watching the offensive ineptitude of the Bears.  I was recovering from helping a buddy hang sheet-rock all day Saturday. I saw a Lionel "Wisconsin Central' steam set for $107 at the local Menards - along with a WC expansion set for another $56 - maybe I'll go back!

Good morning from sunny N Texas.

Watched White Christmas yesterday. I really enjoy the part where they take the train to Vermont from Florida. First they are riding the SF Super Chief and then they are on a Southern Pacific mixed mail and passenger train. That must have been a very long train ride!

Off to Phoenix later this afternoon.

Have a great day all!

I'm heading out today at roughly 1:45 to get in some Christmas shopping. I might hit a train store or 2 along the way (they're everywhere up here). So let me know what you want and maybe, just maybe . . .

Roger, FYI, my company has still not released IE 7.0 to be used here at work.

Did I hear the Chief say he was going to a Sherriffs Party?  Hmmm....... I'm trying to get a picture in my mind of this party and the best way I can describe it is something from the TV Show, The Dukes of Hazard.  We all know who is playing the part of Boss Hog.  Moonshine for all!

Laz, too bad about your email being down.  Many of us saw your name on a web page where you had won $1,000,000 and tried to email you before the deadline.  Needless to say, you snooze, you loose.

Tonight the Polar Express begins its run around the daughter's Christmas Tree.

Greetings All....

As I'm sure its on the news, HOT and Dry her in So. Cal., hopefully things will normalize soon.  Got a felling you all will have a warming trend coming.  This is really lousey weather to be feeling down, Doug hope you and you're wife bounce back soon!

Managed to get a little done on our "Temporary layout" (TLO), taught my son how to wire up the buidings and some static accessories, ran out of wire.  I was trying to avoid using "available" wire and teach him to use correct colors, and using terminal lugs and terminal strips.  Went pretty good.

Over the weekend, striped this old utility table that I've had for years.  It is has a metal frame with casters and had a formica covered plywood top.  Stands about 32".  Repainted it and had some counter top left over, and made a new top.  It will work out good as a portable worktable, that fits under the layout.

The wife is having the Bunco  crowd over Friday, so getting everything all set.  Picked up a new piece of furniture for the family room, can't believe even it is made in China.  I'll bet that the most expensive comonent is the transportation costs.  It seems like a nice unit but surprised that given the little bit of labor involved and the bulkyness that it would be cheaper from there.

Been deliberating on a Christmas gift for the wife, I think I have it figured out.  She has mentioned a few times how nice it would be to have a Treadmill.  So, I think that's what it will be.  I have offered to take her to the jewelry mart, but doesn't really want anything.   Shock [:O]   So see if I can't find a couple of good plays in LA or somewhere.

Looks like my thread on Outside decorating really bit the dust,  I told my wife that the guys on the forum are a bunch of old grouchs, noone other than the Chief posted a picture.  So she thought maybe it was just to cold, so I guess that's possible.  (you old grouchs)

Roy - Do you and the scouts take parachutes with you when you go hiking?  Those pictures sure looked rather harrowing!!!

Going home tonight and putting a train IN the family room tree, and probably an LGB running around it.  Have Chris do that one.  Then I need to find some train music to have playing in the train room as background music for the Bunco crowd.

So have a good evening, hope the weather becomes milder, and Enjoy the season!!!

(Kevin, did your CTT arrive?)

Hello to all.  Our internet service has been down since Saturday.  I was able to come up with a temporary fix, but Comcast says we need to trade in our cable modem for a new one.

We have great new.  My parents, sister, BIL, and baby are on the way home.  They got the word today and are on the road heading through Georgia into South Carolina tonight.  Tomorrow they will finish the trip to Maryland.  Hopefully the Mrs. will get down to visit tomorrow and I will get there Wednesday.  Thanks to all for the prayers.  It will be a joyous Christmas with a new baby in the family.

Take care,

Mitch

Good evening guys,

Another couple of busy days.  Kept the 3 granddaughters a while today as wife and daughter went Christmas shopping.  I kept them till Dad got home from work.  See picture below.

Doug, Hope you and the Mrs. are soon feeling better.  Did you get the presidential car yet?

Laz, I got the email with your new email address.

Don, I am emailing some questions on your layout design.

Liked the Christmas decoration thread.  Will try to take a few pictures of ours tomorrow evening.

Howdy folks from a fridgid St. Louis/Lower Arnoldian.  Well, we got hit bad by the ice and took most of the day to chip out the driveway Friday.  We were going to KC for the weekend - Christmas with the inlaws.  Couldn't go Friday- Central MO was crushed under a thundersnow (some places got over 2 feet) and unlike Kevin up at the POLE, MO isn't really very good at dealing with any serious mess.  Saturday we set out early and it only took about 8 hours to get there - things were pretty bad around Columbia, MO.  Kept the kids out of school today and stayed until this morning so we had a good visit with everyone.  Trip back went a lot better, about 5 hours with a 1/2 hour break half-way to eat lunch.  Chewy was really good on the trip, but she barely ate anything while we were there.

Hope Julia and Dougdagrump and Mrs daGrump are all feeling better.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
