The attic insulation job is done [laid over the blow in from years ago]. [:D] Even had enough to double over the part the sun hits the most. Now to cut the flooring in 2' X 8' sections to get it up the stairway. Once it is up there, a few screws with the drill/driver and junk will go into the attic. That = train room cleaned out. [:D][:D]

Dear Chief,
Please forgive me for not being so active as of late. As you can see by the link below, the citizens of Roger's Corners have had other matters on our minds.

They still believe there is a lion on the loose in the suburbs of Columbus, Ohio. It was spotted by a police officier and then two other sightings were called in that did not know about the first sighting.

Do you have lions in Rolesville? I guess I need to get a lion for my layout for Roger's Corners, Ohio.

Good Morning All,

It’s a great day in NE Ohio, going up to 80 deg today, so they say and now we have clear blue skies, or is it blue clear skies.

Buckeye is having a tuff time in the middle of the state. If it isn’t some one shooting at you on the interstates, then it a big cat coming after you. You would think the capital of the state would have better things to do.

Here is a couple of morning pics

This is a MTH PRR K-4 PS1 with great smoke

and its hulling the best cargo of all.

Have one on me guys.

be sure to pic on these to enlarge them

I see that steam is alive and well on Spankybird's layout; more than can be said of live steam tourist trains today on class 1 railroads. And, are those beer reefers I see? I have about 5 Weaver beer reefers; some of my favorite cars.

When I visit my folks in upstate new york (Gloversville), the town looks exactly like Spankyville's. People live on old houses and mostly have low paying jobs, but get just enough money to do what they like: hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. And what do these folks eat? Sushi? Grits? No way!

They basically live on Pizza and Genessee Beer.

The only thing missing is the old FJ&G railroad!

Mornning gang. Well, do I start the flooring job or do garden and yard work today. Hey, I retired to fish more!!!!! Well, no Bass Pro Shops trip this week. Going to get hot they say. Take lots of breaks. Read the DCS manual and watch the video. Got to get that stuff moved to the attic so I can start that layout. All have a good one and God bless all [and Buckeye's lion that jumped from the circus train].

Only one lion...? What if you had 60,000+, 20 year old kittens running loose around town? That's why most of us hide inside and play with our trains!

News flash from Columbus, OHIO---------------

Several people are missing, feared eaten by a Lion.

A spokesman for Lionel trains informed the Associated Press that their Lionmasters are harmless and are not culpable.

Meanwhile, the national guard has been called out to help guard homes from this menacing King of the Jungle. The administration is happy that world focus on S&M prison guards in Iraq is now focused on the LION menace in Columbus.

Archaeologists say that before the ice age, lions once roamed Ohio and naturalists are lauding the return of the lion to its native habitat, and the loss of a few lives as regretful but an inevitable part of nature.

Stay tuned for more.

I'll send a dozen of these U. T. College Kittens up to Columbus...Mr. Lion will be so damn tired you could have the kids pet him. Anybody game to lead them (the kittens) around by their Gucci leashes once they're released from their cages at the airport?

Must be a lion here. Helicopters keep coming over and over and then circling and going off. Nosiy this AM. We have a military flight route over the town. Usually F15's and Harriers buzzing us. Not helicopters. Guess I need to check the news.

Good Morning All,

It’s going to be an other good day in NE Ohio as long as Buckeye keeps his kittens in central Ohio. It got to 88 deg yesterday, and to thing the day before we had frost in the morning.

Incase you good folk think that big engines can’t run on 027 tube track, check this out.

be sure to click on it to enlarge it.

All have a great Friday

I don't know about kittens, but all of the dogs in the neighborhood were howling last night when I took BB, the Beagle for a walk. She's an exceptional beagle, beagle lovers tell me, because she never never ever barks, except for one thing.

As we walked--actually she takes me for a walk--I always ensure that her leash is on because her nose IS her brain and she would definitely wander away. There's only one case where I ever take her leash off.

Anyway, this weekend, I will be completing the toy train helix in ernest. I've got the wood all stacked up on my patio and am ready to go to work. Construction for me has to be the most exciting part of this hobby. I'll definitely fill you in on Monday.

Spankybird, I like your little vignette with the big steam locomotive smoothly rounding the curve on those lovely 027 rails. Your layout is so colorful and it's interesting how you photograph a different scene for us nearly every day. It's sort of like an ongoing storybook.

Well, the garden is planted, now just add water and wait for the crops to ripen. As the weather heats, up, it will be time to retreat indoors to work more and more on the train layout.

Where was I? Oh, walking BB last night.

She's a very social dog and enjoys sniffing and playing with all of the dogs that come along on our walk. But some of the owners appear neurotic, pulling their dog to the other side of the street and yelling at them to heel. I guess I'm too lenient because I let her play with any other dog that comes along; if the owner is amendable to it.

Well, we'd traveled a couple miles, got wet crossing a stream, and came upon a small meadow away from traffic. Suddenly, BB's tail started waving back and forth rapidly, and she started howling. As I mentioned, there's only one time she ever howls; and that is when she is on a FRESH scent of a game animal--in this case, 3 rabbits, which were busily munching greens. And, the only time I unleash her is when she's tracking game.

So I pulled off the leash and away she goes, looking like she'd acquired a pair of wings, so fast was she flying thru the air, howling up a storm. The rabbits all took off into the woods and BB took off after them, flying in all 3 directions. It sounds impossible, but she was trying for all 3 rabbits at once. Her howls soon brought howls from all of the dogs in the neighborhood.

And, with the howls of all of the dogs for about a mile around, out came all of the neighbors to see what all of the ruckas was about. Groups of kids and parents watched in awe as BB darted in and out of the trees, then back and forth thru the meadow, howling and trying to catch those rabbits.

She never did catch any, but it was exciting nonetheless.

Hi Chief:

Hope we don't see you frying that turkey on America's Funniest Videos. There've been a number of houses lost every year around Thanksgiving due to frying turkeys. Good Luck.

Cook it on the concrete pad. Turkey too small to fill big pot and push oil out. Put turkey in pot and added water [way below top] . No measure the water and know how much oil to put in tomorrow. Now a Low Country Boil is goooood.

Poor Buckeye. Hope it was not a warm night or he would not sleep well. [:D] Turned cooler here [was suppose to be 90 but now a lot lower] as "backdoor cold front" came in. Weather person says it is due to the water up at the Outer Banks and Va. being so cool that the rotation is send the cold air back inland. Blame it on Dave. Well, to finish getting the things done for the crowd to show up. Got to go get the PEANUT OIL [yes, Jim [:D]]. Rather be working on trains. Been taking one apart a day and cleaning, oiling and lubing [storing thme for 18 years makes them "stiff"]. New synthetic oils and lubes sure make them run smooth. All have a great day and weekend. I just came in from running my trains, with the temp. hitting 90 today I had to turn on the AC. The room was comfortable till the lights were on a while. It's surprising how much heat 8 X 50W halogen floods give off.

WHERE DID MY TURKEY GO????? They ate it all!!!!!! It was really easy. Put the oil in to the mark on the pot that equaled the weight. Turkey was completley thawed and then drained. Injected it. Put it on the "rack" and lowered it with hook slowly into the 350 degree peanut oil. Cooked it at 340 for the length of time for the weight. Took the hook and lifted it out and into pan. Great!!! Hardest part is cleaning up and putting the oil back in the jugs.
