Hi all,

Well better late than not at all. Tuff morning today, I hate when work gets in the way of my hobby. It’s 83 deg and sunny in NE Ohio with more chances of T-storms. We had to pull the plug last night because of the storms.

I am glad the Buckeye got the big cat in the middle of the state. Now I see on the news, stories of Big Foot down there. The governor of our state must not have enough to do. You see this is all by the capital of Ohio.

Glad to see OKHIKER join us.

In our area, they caught another Snakehead fish, which one person described as looking like a big copperhead snake. Haven't seen Big Foot in these parts. Where I work in old town Alexandria, there are supposedly ghosts. And, in fact, the big news here is that there are 2 competing ghost tours of the old ante-bellum buildings, of which mine, The Century House, is one; and in fact is reportedly haunted.

Perhaps it needs an exorcist or possibly the ghosts are friendly like Casper?

Also, there are a lot of dead people buried beneath many of the places here.

The other big news is that the county health department shut down dog hour in restaurants. For the last 20 years, owners of dogs were allowweed to bring their pets with them when they ate but the health dept decided to clamp down. No reason; no one ever got sick. Guess they are afraid of lawsuits.

Well I believe that’s better than live people buried beneath the houses.

WELL, on restriction this time [not house arrest]. Back on high powered meds. No pneumonia this time but if I don't behave, it will return. So, I guess I have to behave. Felt real great until late last night. Suddenly head stopped up and now low grade fever to add. Told Dr. that she was not curing me so I would come and visit with her about every three weeks. Did go with Cathy [oldest] to Crazy Fire [Mongolian stir fry] and load it down with peppers and spices. Thought it would open up my head. All it did was make me sweat and have bad breath. [:D] Stay inside and work on trains. Move youngest's junk around and get a loop for the Chief Eagles Very Short Line Railroad.

Good one, Tom! :-) Sort of like burying survivors of plane crash we had a couple days ago. Lots of walking dead above ground here as well.

Chief,

Try eating raw garlic. It will clear things up and give you a cheap but healthy legal high.

Long day. Started the day with a 7:30 meeting, drove north for two hours, meeting, drove south for 1/2 hour, meeting, drove home, meeting. Didn't even get a chance to look at the new CSX yard at Willard today.

Chief, please take care of yourself.

Jim,
Go ahead and send her to Roseville. The Chief is so sick, I doubt if he would notice that she didn't bring the lawn mower. [:D]

Mornin' Chief,
Clicking around the channels last nite I stopped on the travel channel and they were doing a story on the Smokey Mountain Railroad Museum, I think that's what they called it. Regardless of whether or not I heard the the name right it is definitely going to be on my MUST VISIT list the next time I get down that way.
It looked fabulous.[bow]

Good Morning All,

It’s another great day in NE Ohio. It already 74 deg at 6:00am, will have a high of 85 I think. I sure feel sorry for those of you at 38 deg and our young friend Sas who is north of the boarder with a foot of snow.

See, I really am happy to live in NE Ohio.

Chief, you better take good care of yourself. I think that Jim is right, send over your neighbor to keep a eye on him.

I believe the Smokey Mountain Railroad now displays the trains that used to be at Harmar Station in Marrietta, Ohio. Great display. They have been known to run the trains so much that they wore holes in the the Gargraves tube track.

Great Smokie Moutnains Railroad winds around the mountains of the Great Smokie Mountains National Park and across Fontana Lake. Beautiful ride. I have fished Fontana and looked up to see the train winding around the hills or crossing the trestles. To me, the best time is May. Dogwoods and wild azaleas are blooming good that high up. Eagles flying, big black woodpeckers drumming on trees and wild turkeys gobbling.

Good morning all. Running on half steam this AM. Did get a shower of rain yesterady PM. Just cooked some red hot sausages for breakfast. Have a good day. God bless all

The Great Smokey Mountain RR runs daily trips from both Dillsboro and Bryson City, NC. their website is www.gsmr.com. We,ve taken the grandaughters up there for their Day Out With Thomas trips, last week of July this year.

As to the museum you might be thinking of the Scenic Model Railroad Museum in Bryson City, NC. I have a flier but haven't been there yet. Their website is www.smokymtntrains.com.

Good morning all;
It looks like a warm and humid day in North FL. around 85 and afternoon storms. It looks like we are getting in our summer pattern.
Tom thanks for the info on how to post pictures. I will try and get some this weekend. Have been tied up working on some side projects.
Take care all.

Good morning my fellow Americans,
Well it looks like it will be another hot one here in the southern portion of the Garden State. High 80's and increasing humidity. I see ChiefEagles is having a nice tasty plate of hot sausages for breakfast. I envy you Chief. I'm fighting the cholesterol battle right now and am relegated for the time being to oatmeal and cheerios for breakfast. Nothing like eating cardboard and a little sugar for breakfast-Yuk! Well if it doesn't come down in the next 90 days it will be time for lipitor and maybe hot sausage. Have a great day everyone.

Hey lander31, you live in the good fishing area. OKHIKER, I keep getting the same threat from my Dr. She fusses all the time. Cherrios are not too bad. I pulled a Dr. Atkins a couple of years ago and lost 26 lbs. All that food that is suppose to hurt you, cholesterol count went down. Need to do Dr. Atkins again. No support on the home front. Wife can not stay on it. She does the Weight Watchers and counting points. I can not do theat one. Work on it. You'll make it.

Sounds like it's hot all over the East Coast; and that 50% chance of rain never gets to my house. Last week, get this, the rain actually stopped about 1/4 mile from my house! How unfair. So, was out with the garden hose watering the fruit trees. Have to prune the lower peach tree limb where the beagle jumped up and chewed it.

Next week I start a 5-day split-routine weight lifting program; after a couple of years of full-body. If you have trouble lifting Challengers or Big Boys, it's a nice hobby worth considering.

OKHIKER,

I just finished my oatmeal too. A little bit helps energize you for several hours. No need for Atkins diet. The thing to do is to minimize your carb portions, not do away with them completely.

Chief,

I've always been curious just how sausage is made. Whenever I eat any, I share it with BB.

Another hot day means stay indoors and run toy trains!

Dave, you should not have any cholesterol problems. 20 minute walk to work each morning and that means 20 minutes back in tthe evening. That is my problem, I need to walk. I tell the Dr. that I am out working in the yard all day and doing projects. She says its not the same and that I need to walk. Lazy I guess but I sure get tired working outside and doing projects.

Chief,

Here's an indoor walking plan for ya for the dog days of summer.

Design an around-the-basement (or house) layout that requires you to walk alongside the train. Then, get yourself a train fastclock and go about 500 scale miles around the basement. Be sure not to turn on the smoke unit, however, as you will be inhaling pretty deeply.

Good morning!

Checking my e-mail and having my second (or third?) cup of coffee this A.M. We finally got some much-needed rain last night. My two dachshunds hate thunderstorms! They whine and shake until the storm passes.

Tomorrow is an off-day for me, so I hope to get some work done on the layout. Have a good day, everyone!

Hey Doc, did not know preachers had a day off. [:D] Most folks don't realize that their minister is human and needs a break too. Mobile can be rough in the summer. Got a buddy that fishes out of Burmingham. Fishes at night during the summer due to heat and humidity.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well, I spoke prematurely yesterday when I said that we didn't have any snow. We really got the white stuff dumped on us yesterday afternoon! I was supposed to have left by now, but we aren't going to leave until 9:00 so we can give the roads some time to clean up (we were supposed to go at 7:30), so I'm on here.

Incidentally, I would say that there's a very good possibility that I'll be coming home with some trains on this trip (yes, this is a school trip). Part of the itinerary includes shopping at The Forks (a small area of Winnipeg with lots of businesses together). There happens to be an antique mall there that does have trains...I can find a way to bring the hobby into just about any situation!

Mr. Vergun makes a very compelling suggestion..lINDOOR EXERCISE! And with your new DCS stuff, punch up the Odometer and you'll be able to monitor your distance in scale miles during each run as you follow your train(s) around your pike. No excuses, Chiefie...you'll be the Bass Pro Shops poster boy - the quintessential example of GOOD HEALTH!

Chief Eagles,

Yeah, even preachers get away to play now and then! You're right about Mobile being rough in the summer - and our summer lasts from the first of May to the end of October. At least we don't shovel snow down here.

Most of my fishing is done at night these days. I like to fish off the pier at Dauphin Island. Very nice with the breeze off of the Gulf. Sometimes the fish are an interruption as I stare at the stars and smell the salt spray. I like the old saying, "God does not deduct from our lives the hours we spend fishing."

Well, I'm off to visit some folks in the hospitals. Until later . . .

Cleaned and lubed three more Lionel diesels [brought from Mom's this past Sunday]. Had two crazy E units. One I can not get to work at all even though the plunger moves up and down. The fingers are touching the drum. Drum moves. Other one would only run in forward and neutral. Would only sit in neutral when suppose to be in reverse. Checked all wiring and checked the drum and fingers. So when it was suppose to be in reverse, I pushed it in reverse. Yes, it started working. Works great now. Think I'll replace the other E unit and work on the bad one later when I get things going. Wife is at the beach so I can sit in living room floor and work on them and watch TV too. Youngest came and visited [ate my squash I cooked]. DID NOT take any of her stuff when she left. Said she would be getting it when the house is ready [now 5 more weeks]. Keeps moving the date.
