Good morning everyone,

Happy Christmas Eve to everyone. I have a lot of chores to do today. Need to help the parents because we have 15 people coming for Christmas Eve dinner. I will be going to mass at 4PM, but this is no ordinary mass. I am going to my godfather's and it so happens his wife's brother is a priest, so he will be saying mass there for us.

Last minute grocery shopping last night - making a roast on Christmas so grabbed a bag of carrots.  My son was with me, helping push the cart and says "Good!  We need those for the reindeer!"  Man, was that great or what?!  He'll be 10 soon and my wife and I are thinking of breaking it to him nicely so that our daughter will have a couple more years of Santa joy.  If he finds out outside, I am dead Certain he will run right to her and blab, but if we play it right he might like being in on the deal and be cool.  It's all kidneys, man.

The kids are throwing off sparks - big dinner tonight at my folks with gift exchanges for all the kids, so they will get about 1/3 of their total haul tonight!  Got about 1/3 already with the inlaws in KC during the great ice storm weekend.  Then, the final 1/2 tomorrow (1/3 I know about and the rest is stuff that my wife gets them from Santa and Jesus, or just stuff she added after we "talked about it" ;-).

Tom, please keep coming back.  I love to steal ideas from your pictures!

Sunny and bright today.  Everything is ready for more company tonight before Christmas Eve Candle Light Services.

Had a great evening Friday with friends for the season. Big buffet dinner, drinks, desserts and then we got into 2 big rental vans festooned with Christmas lights and went cruising neighborhoods for Christmas lights and decorations viewing. A tradition is for one of the adult families to wear Santa and Mrs. Claus costumes. We stop at various parks or areas where a big walkup dislay exists. We love to see the little kids go bright eyed when Santa stolls up. Lot's o' pics taken by the kids families.

Gearing up here for the evenings events (daughter sings in churh choir - so we will be going early). Then we have our traditional Christmas eve out family dinner. Our Italian restaurant we went to for many years closed up so we are going upscale tonight at McCormick and Schmick's Seafood in Dallas. This is one of my presents to my wife each year so she gets a break. I have also been to the M & S on Baltimore harbor. Great place and great view. Go if you get a chance (A bit pricey).

Jim F - throwing off sparks is not graphic enough to describe our 13 year old this year. I think he is about to enter a state of nuclear fission. If you hear Dallas has diappeared tonight you all will know the real cause.

Try 'play.com' for some serious stuff. I have Top up TV and Freeview in a fancy gismo, cost 55 quid. From my rootings I guess they charge at least an extra ton for a Freeview set. Good ole rip off Britian!

Grxysborski has come up with a deal I shall have to go with, so there is a Lionel about to blossom in dear old Stockport soon.

Only four hours to go 'till Santa delivers my beloved into my arms. Third bottle of Old Peculiar is making everything pink and squishy. Lovely!!

Here's a nice train story a friend sent me a little while ago !! " ELECTRIC TRAINS ". While working as a mall Santa, I had many children ask for electric trains. " If you get a train, I would tell each one, "you know your Dad is going to want to play with it to, is that ok ? " The usual answer was a quick yes, but after I asked one boy this question, he became very quiet. Trying to move the conversation along, I asked what else he would like Santa to bring him. He promptly replied, " Another train " ! ! Thanks, John

Merry Christmas everyone!  I know I will not be on here again till Tuesday as I will be swamped with putting together those "some assembly required" items the kids will be getting.  It was a long read to catch up with all the posts over the last few days.

I had a long night this past Tuesday as we had some big cases and when I finally got home, I found a big box from one of my old friends from the Fire Department.  He sent me a complete MTH NYC madison set, a MTH alluminum NYC passenger set, a MTH Wabash madison set, several Christmas cars, and a few other cars, including dump cars and a flat car with the "Woodie" on it.  Now I need to buy some more engines to go with the Wabash set, and I think a nice NYC Hudson is in order.  As it turns out, this friend had a train store with a partner, but the other guy became ill and so they closed the store and divided the stock.  It was a wonderful suprise to see all this.

My 2yo daughter has been wanting to watch the Polar Express every night and she loves to play with the trains, so it looks like we will have more interest in this house with regard to trains.  My poor wife will be inundated with all the trains in the atmosphere.  It is wonderful to have a hobby that we can all enjoy.

It is sunny and mild in SE Indiana today with temps in the 40s.  I ran the gas out of the mowers, did some more housework, and helped the wife with some Christmas baking.  I also got to run the 384E a little bit.  I want to wish everyone on the forum and especially on the "coffeepot" a Merry Christmas!

Checking the Norad Radar I see Santa is nearing Pittsburgh.  Getting ready to go to bed soon.  Santa will get a special treat of a muffin and milk this year.  My kids have been pretty good this year but a few pieces of coal may end up un the floor at least that's what I heard from Santa.  Don't want them to get cocky.  Husky Claws won't be far behind Santa delivering treats for all our  kitties, little critters and fish.

 Merry Christmas!  Enjoy your families, friends and trains...not in that order if you prefer.

Mitch, What puzzles me is that we had no storm.  Last summer I had a storm take out my router but not the modem.  I thnk they have surge protectors for cable, don't know how effective they are.  I do have a lightning arrestor on the incoming line.

Roy, We enjoy eating at M&S.  Both Baltimore and Phila.  In Phila. they are located right on Penn Square.  My all time favorite restaurant is Ruth Chris. 

Well some of the kiddies have arrived.

Morning gang.  Santa has been.  Since the Big Boy was delayed, he still dropped off some neat things.  One thing is a Junk Mail Shreader from Staples [extra heavy duty].  Designed to shread the whole envelope without ever opening. Wife got her Diamond ring.  Cater [the unborn Grandson] got lots of things [Grandmothers ].  Time for SIL and Youngest to go to his folks.  That ='s train time for me.  They are using the upstairs as their suite.  Santa hit the Apitz home.  Report said wrapping paper and toys everywhere.
