I bought them used and none of the interior lights worked. I took the cars apart and made the contact springs work. (MTH did not make the bottom of the car stiff enough and the deflection compounded the lighting problem.) One of the trucks was broken and it is now fixed. A little oil and graphite here and there and they are working great.

Another rainy day, to be heavy at times. Just got an email from LHS to let me know the J tower laser kit that I ordered is in. May go down and pick it up this afternoon if the weather doesn't get too nasty. Have to pick up a prescription anyway. My uncle once worked the J tower when it was called Lemo tower by the PRR. The J tower name was used by the Cumberland Valley prior to takeover by PRR.
Chief, Yes Electric RR has both AC and DC versions. The Reading Trainmaster that I did has 2 Pullmor motors.
Jim, I agree they need to fasten the labels better on CTT. Mine are always about to fall off when I get it, so far I have always gotten them, just lucky I guess. They use that removable adhesive to please the collectors, I guess. I wouldn't care if they were permanent as long as it gets here. Are you listening Neil & Bob?

Buckeye, I'm glad to see I am not the only one with a long 'to do' list. BTW I do have a sound problem. I stuck a DVD into the computer and had to turn the sound up all the way to get very feeble sound. Don't know when it quit. I changed over to a flat screen with built in speakers some time ago and it was working up until recently. When I shut down will have to check things out. Have to open up the hood on the computer anyway as one of my front panel USB ports fell out of the mount.

John, that is strange. I've never had that happen on a computer. I have had a screen go dead right in front of my eyes, but sound is super reliable. I hope you can get it fixed such that you can hear the video from NBC news.

TESCO built one here in Stockport 25% over permitted size, The Council have told them to keep to the plan and it's now on it's way through the courts. In the meantime there is hoarding round the disputed area. If TESCO lose? I'll believe in fairy's.

Chief, Grandad was from NC. Retired here to the UK after 30 years in USAF. As met my Grandma when he was posted here during WW2(funny thing is she came from Poynton which is just down the road from John B). My Mom was born in the UK but at 6 months old left for the States. She was brought up in the States (Florida, Arizona). Left in 1956 at 14 when Grandad was posted back to UK. Grandma wanted to stay in UK so when tour was up in 1960 Grandad retired. As a good NC boy he bought a boat and went fishing with a bit of shooting thrown in.
He passed away in 2001. Last year we went to Florida (Disney for Xmas) and went on a 2 week Cruise. (My Wife and I got married on the ship). It was the first time my mom had been back to the States since '56. Highlight for Charlie (our son) was recieving a Lionel Train set for Xmas and hence me being fully sucked into the hobby

Buckeye, I got my sound back, don't ask what I did. Opened up the case and disconnected and reconnected the DVD & CD drives. Then repaired the USB ports. As an engineer you will appreciate the poor engineering that went into that device. The ports were fastened to the plastic front panel with self tapping screws into hollow bosses about 1/8" deep. Probably 2 threads tops holding them, naturally they pulled out as all of the stress was on that point when you pluged in the usb connector. Not a lot of options. Put in larger screws and coated the whole mess with a liberal coat of epoxy. When it gives out the next time I'll just throw it away and replace it.
After I put everything back together, the sound worked. Just because!

On Dec 7th I rolled my Chevy Tracker and got banged up But the
Tracker still runs!!! Iam going to retire it anyway. sort of licking
my wounds and hopefully ill return to work early in January.

Hello Everyone:I just finished catching up on reading all the posting. Man everyone sure is busy. Life is good!I just sent out my annual performance report to Washington DC! It has been a long four months of writing proposals and gather data BUT NOW IT IS ALL FINISHED! LIFE IS IN DEED GOOD!Let the holidays roll with no more work distractions for two weeks! Now I can work on some train related projects and do a little woodworking!For all of you in the Lower 48 that are experiencing cold weather I have good news! The weather is clearing here in Alaska, the thermometer is pegging down to -20 - -30°F again. Clear and cold baby just the way of the winter. So I am guessing it will warm up somewhat down south in the next weekdays.I will post some pictures of the noonday sun hanging low in the horizon over the weekend. It looks pretty neat at this time of the year when it clear and cold.I really like all the bridges popping up. They look great and I enjoy hearing the descriptions from everyone. Keep the pictures coming.That is all for now from the north. I have some extra time so I want to take advantage to read other postings tonight.Good night to all and as always . . . Could not post today at school, rotten computer went down.
Not too bad of a day here rainy cool and just great for running trains. Only had kidos for half a day which was great. Some got to take projects home some have to wait and give late gifts.

Got my Pa Gantry Crane today hooked it up and boy does it work fine. Planning on using it to unload wood logs. Got metal band to put on logs and then lift them to put on gondolas. Was picking up two at a time. Great find for only $61 bucks.

It is a cold ,sunny, 32 degrees. Going up to 50 today with sunshine.
Today we are going to put the house back together. Clean up the pieces of wrapping paper, from the 4 year old. That boy can really open presents. We all had a good time. Need a quiet day now.
I want to work on the layout for a few hours today. If that happens, I'll be surprised. This is a busy time of the year. Still have not heard from the youngerst daughter. Her phone was removed, so we can not call her.
