Things have been very busy here that last couple of days. Had a phone call from Don a little while ago, wondering if I was OK since I hadn't posted for a few days. Appreciated him thinking of me.
Jim, Take good care of Julia. Non of my kids have had pneumonia, but my wife has had it twice and it is no fun at all.
Colin, I am not going to be at the Reading show, just too much going on around here at present.
Chief, I am following your progress on Roy's thread. Most also be the cause of our weird weather. Was 72 & windy here until about 5:00 PM, now windy and raining like crazy. Supposed to get much colder.
I spent yesterday afternoon setting up TMCC to work with DCS on the Cool Trains display layout. Got everything working just fine. Everyone who came in the shop thought I was one of the employees so I ended up answering a lot of questions and doing demos. Had one young man of about 7 or 8 running an MTH 4-4-0 using DCS and he was having a ball. His Mom kept saying we have to go and he would just say, just a little more Mom. At a certain speed that engine blows perfect smoke rings and he really thought that was neat. This went on for about 20 minutes until she dragged him out the door. I love when I can get them hooked like that.
BTW this is the first time I posted with the new software. I will withhold judgement until I have used it a little.
Jon, Sounds like yoiu are enjoying your baby sitting duties, that is the fun age. Of course I enjoy them at all ages.
I'm sure I missed a lot since I haven't posted for a few days, but that is all I can remember.

Added some pics to the "Christmas Layouts 2006" thread. Layout basically done except for some more detailing and, of course, running some trains!

Well, we got ICE.
Chief - you need to work on your AIM, man! About 500,000 without power earlier today, including my folks. Our lights dimmed a few times, but we have been fine.
Spent an hour chipping about 4 inch thick ice away from the garage door this AM. Then threw down some icemelt and waited for the sun at about 11 to hit my driveway. It was only about 2 to 3 inches away from the house. Went out and chopped it with a heavy steel shovel while the kids used little kid shovels to slide the sheets off the driveway. Took about 4 hours total, including the hour early this morning.
Worst thing, the trash guys didn't show up. They only come once a week now and they didn't come last week due to Thanksgiving. So, we have two huge trash cans completely full. They actually called today and said that they will be here tomorrow.
Doug - I'll trade a foot of snow for any amount of ice any time!
I pray that Julia will get well soon. I've had pneumonia before and it wasn't fun, but once the antibiotics kicked in, I did get well pretty fast.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Wow! The work in NC is really moving fast. Heard on the news tonight that a couple of guys was going house to house robbing people in NC. Got to this one house and a 4 year old managed to goin his bedroom and put on a Power Ranger custome, then went back out and confronted the robbers. They left with some items, but wern't their that long. (True story on the radio todaiy)
I have to admit, I was looking forward to starting benchwork soon. But two things happened....
1. We put up a temporary layout, and put up the buildings we had picked up. Boy did that make the room smaller and the layout area really tight. Didn't think it would work on the permanent layout I had designed. Then...
2. Chief posted a copy of his plan, and I realized that my space wasn't all that much smaller than he had, and his looked a LOT better.
So, have gone back to the blank page and have a whole new concept, and it looks a light better. Takes up a larger percentage of the room, and much more running room for longer trains.
Someday I WILL get out of the planning stages.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cold 32 degrees, with cloudy skies. Only going up to 40 today, but with no wind. It was very windy yesterday until midnight.
Today is an errand running day. Have a couple of stops to make. This afternoon, I plan on working on the layout and running trains for a few hours. Still planning on buying that metal bridge , maybe after Christmas.
Well, the Dining Car just rolled in for breakfast.

Don, moved my right side as you walk in the main door [not the chimney side] from against the wall. Was going to require several liftoouts. Was up at 2AM [could not go back to sleep] upstairs figuring it out. I now have isle along right wall all the way to the back wall. Will divide the coaling from the rest of the layout with a backdrop [mountains]. To work the coaling side, you walk around the outside of the layout. Rest of the laout is accessed by the drop down or lift out. Narrowed my inner isle but still plenty of room. Only lost 16" length of the track on the straight aways. Like this better.

Hello everyone,
I just finished watching a movie called Accepted. It was great, I loved every minute of it. I was supposed to go to my grandparent's house, but I decided not to, so I ordered pizza, and rented 3 movies. The other 2 movies (besides Accepted) are Cars and Monty Python the Holy Grail. I also added some extra lights on bushes in the front yard, and tomorrow, I plan on taking light strands and running them up the branches of our 2 pear trees in the front yard. The whole front yard will be white. Chief must be slacking on his benchwork. It is cold, but we have not had any precipitation today.

It was sunny and cool with temps in the 40s today. I did the housework, picked up sticks in the yard (Thanks, Chief, for all the wind!), went to the YMCA for weight work and 15 minutes on the treadmill, got gas for all three vehicles, worked on my portable layout somewhat over at my dad's, and watched a movie with the family. I am tired. I hope everyone had a good day.

It is a sunny 22 degrees. Frosty. Going up to 44 with sunshine. That is not too bad. Better than snow.
Today, we are going to take it easy. Been cleaning and decorating for company today. Daughter got sick yesterday and their visit may be postponed.
Well, I'd like to run trains today, for awhile. I have a few ideas and want to try them out on the layout. Always thinking.

We have been working at the museum, getting ready for its Holiday Open House on Dec 9. We expanded the one loop of track down the second leg. This loop now has about 280 feet of track.

A belated good morning all. This Grandpa is in need of some sanity time. In addition to the usual 3 Granddaughters that we have for the weekend we added 2 more this weekend, HELP! I've had to contend with 6 women since yesterday afternoon, the Mrs., and girls 3 through 11, all seem hyperactive and I'm exhausted.
I've rerailed the train around the Christmas tree three times this morning and I've had them out in the train room for about an hour. The two visitors were in awe since they probably have never had the opportunity to see toy trains. Due to an incident with their mother their Grandmother (mother's ex-stepmother) had to take them and an infant Friday, and being in ill health herself wouldn't be able to handle the three, so my wife invited the 2 older ones for the weekend. Luckily, all are getting along without any friction.
I think I'll turn on a football game this afternoon and lock myself in the TV room.
Dr. John must be in his office at the time he posted. Humm, not sudying that sermon. Maybe he is preaching on trains today.
Well, you have seen the Little Rascals with the cart pulled by the goat with a carrot on a stick in front of him. That is exactly the Roseyville Town Board and its float for the parade.
Wanted to work on benchwork today. Looks like rain again. I think the good Lord does not want me to do benchwork. Every time I go to the shelter and uncover the table saw, it rains. Well, may go se the movie about the Nativity this afternoon after parade. Cold and windy tomorrow. Got Sheriff's victory party tomorrow evening and then Town Board. Will build tomorrow morning and afternoon.
Think I'll run trains until time for parade. Later.

Very observant, Chief! Actually, I was between services waiting on baptismal candidates to come to my office. Back in office now for a few minutes. I like to check in every so often to make sure you guys are behaving!
Today was cold, but sunny all day. Ran trains for a couple of hours. Made some templates for the mountain portals. Need to cut wood now.
