I have been in Dallas for the years of the big chill(s) - the News Year Eve ice storm that layered the city with 1 - 3 inches of ice and the big snowstorms (a handfull). All those happened over 25 years ago and we are due for a similar winter someday soon. We had one winter (82 or 83) where temps stayed below freezing for about a month (but my memory is pretty rusty).
Hope you guys had some fun with my Chief story today.

On the other hand, Im feeleing better, cough is still there, just not as often, ear clogged up after taiolikng on the phone to an older friend. I was able to go for a whole day of school, just was coughing and hacking everytime i went up or down stairs( and normally i can run up them and I dont feel tired one bit) Got the can of Fleckstone to work, just found it likes thes to flow better at the Recommended temp of 70 that at 40.

My daughter Julia has contracted pneumonia. The poor kid is miserable and I'm beside myself. She's my whole world.

It is very strange weather in SE Indiana this morning as the temps are in the 50s?!?! I am not sure what will happen the rest of the day. Evidently we have a small warm front that is holding up the cold air temporarily. Maybe this is due to the Chief halting work on the railroad??? It sure is windy though. Took it easy last night as there was not much to do. Watched "My Name is Earl" for the first time in quite a while. I hope all who are affected by the weather get to work and back home safely.

It is a mild 65 degrees, but lightly raining. Going to drop to 63 with high winds and rain. Doesn't sound too good. Better than TX snow.
Glad to see that Chief actually built some benchwork yesterday. Long way to go.
Today. I have some errands to run. Dec. 1st already. This year is going fast. I may run trains later. Need to relax and enjoy.

Morning all. 70 degress and going up for a few. Might have severe storms. I'm still going to saw and build. I want Ohizo to be waist deep in snohio. Then temps dropping fast here. Only in mid 40's by first of the week. Good benchwork building weather. Mentioned to Pam about taking big sections of board upstairs. She laughed [no help from her]. Wish it would not rain for a while. Could cut up the big sheets. I have to do that out in front of the boat/tractor shelter.
Jimbo, get her to take the pneumonia shot after she gets well. I have had the shot and now my ins. co. is telling to have the Dr. give me another one as it has been well past 5 years. I must love pneumonia as I have had it 5 times [back to back]. This 96 is the first time I've escaped it. Glad she has a nurse for a Mom. She'll be fine. Promise.
Let me get ready to start building. Got to carry another load of old clothes to Goodwill first [found them in the walkthru in boxes]. Forgot to do that yesterday. In the way of building.

I guess Chief is really working on his benchwork. Temp is supposed to drop like a stone tonight. Rained all last night and into this morning. I have lots of "Honey Do" items on the plate for the next two weeks, so I am not sure how much I will get done with regard to the train table.

THe skies have cleared and the sun is out. I took all morning to clear the driveway - interrupted by my bride managing to get the minivan stuck in the street- and having to dig it out - she didn't believe me when I said it was bad.
Some nice huge color photos of the 'national train show' in Philadelphia in this week's issue of Life - which is now a mini-insert in our Friday newspaper. No O scale.
The Chief's rain has arrived in MA. I don't have any windows in my office, but I can here the rain water gushing down a drain pile inside the wall.

Yes, 1978. I remember a lot of trains got snowed in that year. Did a lot of shoveling too !!
