Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a light rain, 58 degrees. Going to 68 today with rain on and off. Looks like the days of sunshine are gone for awhile.

Today, I will be running trains and working on the layout. I have to clean track and pull some lubrication maint. on a few cars. Heard a faint squeek from the wheels. need to build some shelves for all the extra stuff.

Jim..( jaabat )...You had everyone all excited over your " gifts ".

Good morning from the cloudy south. Warm and overcast this AM. Feels more like spring than fall. Cold front moving back through in a couple of days.

Well, my good intentions of getting more done on the Christmas layout fell through last night. Got interested in TV, then youngest daughter needed help with a freshman English paper. By then the dogs were snoring on the couch and the wife was asleep in the reliner. Almost 11 PM! Corralled everyone off to bed. With church tonight, won't get too much done. Maybe tomorrow.

Jim - you had me going there for a minute! Still, it was nice of that lady to pass along the train items, even if it was HO and N.

Morning all.  Beautiful day in the neighborhood.  Temps clsoe to 70 again.   Well Jimbo, I got to reading and right in the middle, I says to my self, "Self, this is his wish list and he did not say a word about it last night."  Funny.  You trying to be the "Chief"?  Just for that.  Everyone here is enjoying their new issue of CTT and it is full of great bargins and articles.   [see he still hasn't gotten his yet got to send Bob and Neil that $50 I promised to hold his copy ]  Anyway, I'm sure the Weasel will take them off your hands.

Dr. John, you sound like me with all the extras getting in the way of trains.  You all will be proud of me as I refused to attend a Regional/County Transprotation Meeting this AM. Why, finish yard and get to work on bench work.

Good Morning from the Northland,

I arrived at work this morning at 5 A.M. and the temperature was almost above zero in town. So we are having a warming trend! So all you guys in the Lower 48 and Canada better get ready for a little cool breeze to blow your way. Over the last 20 years I have noticed when we start to warm up you guys are going to cool down! I don't know where it is going to get colder down there but I am sure somebody's weather is about to change. Maybe down in Dixie. Where ever it hits it should be good for hanging and aging all those bucks that are getting dropped down there.

Laz: Congrats on the hunt and your swim party, sounds like a fun time. A brisk dip in the river makes the bounty that must tastier!

Wayne: I have the same problem that you do with reply emails. I was just getting ready to email CTT and ask them to help me kill the reply emails. I'll let you know what happens.

Don: Glad to hear the mailman made it as far as the west coast. There is now hope that I will get my copy of the January issue before Christmas. I will probably get mine later this week or at the beginning of next week.

Worked on the Christmas layout last night. Wired up some streetlights and building lights for a North Pole village setting we have. I hope to have the final wiring ready to close up today and then put the two halves together. The first half is all ready in place and we stood the tree up on it on Sunday evening. I will post some pictures on one of the Christmas layout threads in the next day or so. For now it is back to work for a while.

It turned out to be a couple of Bachmann N scale freight sets and some HO scale carnival ride kits. The Chief was right. I was spouting off a wish list. Just trying to open everyone's eyes in the morning.

Kevin - I certainly enjoy your posts from America's freezer. Esp liked the sun rise and sun set times. My wife's sistres have noted that in the last 20 years up there, several of the popular glaciers in the Anchorage/Whitier area have seriously receded, but the reports say on the whole, the number and length of the glaciers is about the same. Maybe it is the urbanization of the area around Whitier that is causing the recessions? Would be interested in your view from Fairbanks.

Waiting for the artic express here. All gloom and doom predictions for weather - T'storms and possible sleet. Might be 75 high today and 36 high tomorrow. We'll see. The more noise made by the media here the less grand the actual event.

I note Chief is still "talking" about benchwork. I wonder if this will end up as Jim's 726, 5 stripe GG1 "gifts?"

LAZ - that description you gave was a bit too graphic. Now the Beaver pond is a much better picture!

A woman I work with brought me in a bunch of trains today. We just transferred them from her trunk to mine. She said she still has more to come next week when she moves her parents into their new Connecticut home.

Hello All,

 

My week has kinda sucked. I have had a pneumonia-kinda sickness for the past few days, actually about since last wednesday. I have been staying home from school from Monday till today. Tuesday I tried going to school, but after 3rd hour I was tired and felling crummy again, and needed to go home. My mom took me home, thankfully. Today I just rested and took naps with the help of Robutussen with Codine that I got from the doctor. 

I got my CTT on monday, and I read it through throughly while sitting in my bed. The most enjoyable CTT I have read in the last few months. I loved the one guys layout where it was done in the design of the super O factory display. I like super O alot, just is too expensive for me to use with the money I have. Wish they still made it!

I havn't worked on the layout much when I have been sick, But Ive been having serious problems with the Fleckstone cans. Everytime I use them, they work fine when new, I fter about two uses, they clog up, and I cant unclog them. I have a sencond can now, and it did the same thing. Can anybody help me with that???

Happier news though my AT&SF Overton cars arrived today, they really look nice. Now comes the fun part, trying to find period appropriate passengers for the interior seating.

An old trick to clean the nozzles of spray paint cans is to hold them upside down when finished and spray against scrap paper until no paint comes through. The nozzle should be clean and ready for the next time you need to paint with it. Should work for Fleckstone paint too.

Good Evening Everyone !! Just home from another derailment, exactly the same time as the one last Wednsday. Couldn't believe it, but only 12 cars this time. Nearing 40 hours overtime now on this pay period, & just in time for Christmas!!

Glad The Chief got his lights up !! They are really nice !! Hey, if could put more lights up, it could keep him from his benchwork work, & hold off the snow coming !!

Laz, if our Garden Railroad Club does that show, I am going to try to make it out there. I don't know if I will bring any money though, because in April, the East Coast Large Scale Train Show will be at York, and that is where amazing deals for my Garden Railroad are.

Well, other than getting "hot" on the subject of a disruptive "spammer," yours truly really hasn't been feeling "hot". My sinuses are stuffed, my back hurts, and it is hard to sleep. So, I might stay home tomorrow, and if I do I will probably check in here on a regular basis. If I don't stay home, I will just say my good morning, and go to school.

Funny that you bring up the 800lb bear, Keith. My friend at school was just telling me about a very large bear that has been digging in his grandfather's cornfield. His grandfather was going through the field a few days ago, didn't see the hole, and broke the rear axle on his tractor. Towed the tractor back to the barn, looked at the field, and sees a bear there.
