Morning everyone. Very cool and crisp here this AM. Currently it's 54, highs in the 70's today.

LAZ - only a few left. We have 4 days with kids but the last two are early dismissals. Friday is teacher's last day. Went to a retirement dinner last night for one of our assistants. Nice time. She didn't want anything fancy so we surprised her with her kids help. There were about 18 people.

Wanted to post photos of my three pre-war train sets that I picked up but I didn't get to it. Maybe I'll post a Monday addition to the Sunday photos fun if I get a chance. Hope the parts I ordered from Olsen's get here soon. I want to try out those windup Marx trains but I don't have a key. Also want to try my hand at pulling the wheels off of the 248 and putting new ones on.

Have a great day.

I'm home after the big raid through the South. It will take weeks for the Chief to clean up my mess. When I find my camera, I will try to post some photos.

Speaking of the Chief, it's his birthday tomorrow. I think he will be 93, but I'm not sure.

4 more inches of rain this weekend. Gotta find a good water drainage solution.

Dave, my wife keeps kidding me that I'm obsessive compulsive because of how often I wash my hands. But I have 3 germy little kids who are always sick with a cold or a stomach bug. I'd rather be considered OC than catch that junk. Yesterday I took them bowling. My son Mikey kept sticking his thumb in his mouth after handling bowling balls, dirty shoes, etc. I'm steering clear of that little dude for a few days!

The Sopranos - what a let down season it was. That show has definitely jumed the shark. At least next Sunday I can go to bed early for a change.

Good morning all,

It is sunny and cool in SE Indiana with temps heading to the 80s today. We went to Chicago this weekend for the graduation party for a daughter of a friend. The weather was nice, but avoid the "Loop" in downtown Chicago as there is major construction going on there. Coming home we had a nice drive down Lakeshore Drive, and near LaFayette, Indiana, we saw a NS intermodal train going over the interstate. It was really moving. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,
Good Morning from Blueberryhill
It is a cool 47 degrees right now. Going up to 75 and
suppose to be sunny. That's good.
LAZ..Hang in there.
Buckeye..Good to hear from you. Any stories from the south raid ???
Doug Murphy... Check the height of your GG1's pantograph in the " up "
position. You may have a clearance problem, as I do, with tunnels. Have to modify
four tunnel portals. Half inch too short. Almost had an accident.
Well, time to eat breakfast. Cheerios. ( The Lone Ranger likes 'em ).
Y'all have a great day.

Morning all. Thanks for the good wishes. Buckeye, you never made it down into the South. We had our eyes on you all the time. Remember, I'm raiding into Ohio this week and weekend. [}:)][:p] In fact, plan on raiding your number train shop [Davis Trains]. Got more rain last night. [:D] Now if it dries off, will mow. Will also work upstairs in the walkin attic train room. Have a good one and God bless.

Good morning from sunny, central North Carolina. Suppose to be 75 degrees today with possible thunderstorms this afternoon. It needs to stay dry long enough for me to level out all the weeds in my yard.

Happy Birthday Chief. Heard some sirens yesterday....you didn't light ALL the candles did you?! :)

Got the boat on the lake yesterday and have the sunburn to prove it. Had a boat load of kids so I didn't even attempt to fish. Got in some good swimming and tubing.

Got the trains out for kids this weekend. Sadly, they only seemed mildly interested. They had dragons and other things on their mind.

Happy belated birthday to our Chief! A warm, sunny day in Chicago this morning - have a lot to catch up on after being sick Friday. I'm making more progress on the layout. Planted my last building. Have a few more figures, then I'm moving into trees, trolley poles and lineside poles. I'm going to be experimeting with 'planting' the trees in little dioramas that would be easier to place and move instead of just poking holes in the carpeting. I'm trying to notice more where light pools on the layout and creating scenes in those spaces because there are lots of dark spots. I'm amazing myself how much I learned on the now-gone layout - in so far as I'm making different decisions with this one - like not wiring a siding within reach that I use to store non-powered rolling stock...
Cheapclassics, sorry you hit the Dan Ryan Expressway construction coming into town this weekend. Sounds like you had a good time anyway.
Chuck, thanks for the warning about the GG1 pantagraph - I actually took out the portals, cut out the tunnels to the widest possible opening and 'tilted' them slightly away from the gaze of visitors so all you see is the train go into the mountain.

Belated Happy Birthday to Chief -- didn't get back online yesterday, sorry!

QUOTE: Jim F. To hot here to be doing anything so I had the Travel Channel on. The story was the "Top Ten Places to Pig Out", guess who was #1. Lamberts !!!!!!!

Believe it, Man! I was "full" until lunch time Sunday! Then some buddies and I went and saw X3 at noon, ended up at a Mexican place eating nachoes and stuff around 2PM, and had pizza for dinner with the family! Back on the diet this morning, though.

In front of Lammerts or Lamberts they have a train the kids could climb on made out of treated lumber - consisting of a locomotive, tender, box car, tanker car and caboose. Inside, they have tons of humorous and interesting pictures, license plates, and other junk on the walls, including some train stuff. There is a G scale (I think) train running around the ceiling in an area between the 2 dinning areas that the kids really liked. It was so high up, you really couldn't see it very well, though.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Chief--

I sure hope you bought something with flanged wheels for your birthday! Best wishes for many more. It's good to have legitimate reasons for buying toy's for one's self, I bought myself a very nice Father's Day gift a few weeks ago--the boy's never find it important so in their absence of gift giving I spoil myself[:)]

Mitch, I know what you mean. After spending the afternoon over, there it is enuff to give one "Train Envy" when I come back home to a single ceiling/wall mounted line. But there is also a very optomistic approach as well. I have less than a dozen engines to either wear out or become obsolete. [:D]

Afternoon everyone, Just taking in a little forum time and watching PRR- Ohio division on RFD. Neat vintage photos from the 50s, mostly steam with some of that other type of loco. Very cool. Sandusky, bayside, etc. Multiples of several different engine types.

Have a great day everyone.

Doug,
Looked at Merv's site, Wow is that ever awesome. Is it going to become the auxillary club layout? And he is also into racing? What a life.......

If he hasn't purchased any "happiness" with what all that represents, sure wouldn't mind sharing his drudgery.

Don, He was and still is a very successful business man, and with all that comes with being such a success you will never meet a more unassuming and down to earth individual. Above all else be it 1:1 or 1:48 he is a TRAINGUY !
I should be so lucky that it become a satelite layout, it sure would save on my gas bills.
