Chief,

All I can remember was that you promised to send me a free PS 2 Deisel. I remember that you did make a slip, but don't remember what it was, exactly. Well, I kinda do . . . [;)] Good talking with you, as always. In my mayonaise jar of life, you're a golf ball. So you have that going for ya.

Tom,

Now I remember, Chief. Come to think of it, you did sound like you were high. I thought you had just been hitting the mini bar a little too hard. [;)][:D]

If you move up here, I'll help you with your scenery if you help me with my locomotive repairs. Better yet, let's all think about buying up a big chunk of land somewhere, building a gated community, and having a huge layout clubhouse right in the middle of that community. Man, the fun we'd all have!

Morning all!

Beautiful day here. Sunny, cool start, and going to 80 I think.

8 days to my departure (very early Tuesday) for York!

Hope to see some of yuz giz there. Unfortunately I have to leave early on Saturday morning this year.

[bday] Tom -[bday]

Chuck - hope that procedure goes very well for you. Good to hear it is not something more serious.

Dave - thanks for the continuing saga - Hey! It's the "greatest story ever told" (on the CTT forum).

Jim - I use a washing machine detergent and bleach mix. You can also use a product called "Simple Green". Power washing is good to just blast it off. I have a cheap power washer I picked up at Wal Mart a few years ago. Strong enough to blast things off but not so powerful to do any damage. Why was it really cheap? The orifice for the detergent feed was never drilled into the output manifold.

Doug - my wife throws her back out one or two times a year. After many trips to doc, we found that Aleve and a couple of days of rest fixes it. Ironically the same amount of time as expensive doc visit, expensive muscle relaxers, etc., took.

Have a great day all!
Roy

Jim, I use Greased Lightnin' for the siding on the north side of the house. They have a hose attached sprayer that mixes it with water. I usually use a car brush on a pole to loosen things up, not realy scrubbing, before rinsing. Check the label, might be a bit strong for some metals.

Chief, we'll be heading up through your neck of the woods. We won't have time to stop since we're doing it in one shot this time and hope to reach the daughter's in MD by supper. If I can get past Asheville without making a wrong turn I've got it made.

Good morning everyone,
I am gonna start painting my old FA diesel shell for my Garden Railroad. I sawed the body in half, and now it will become part of a scrap yard scene that I will be constructing. I am waiting for my mom to find the paint stripper, so I can then paint the shell brown, red and a little touch of black to make them look rusted. When I fini***hem, I will post pix if you want.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SPANKYBIRD

Good afternoon all. I can't believe all the posts since I was last to the pot. Beautiful here today and we might just have had our last night below freezing (I hope).

Yesterday was a busy one here. The son-in-law was the guest speaker at my other daughters church and we all went out to eat afterwards. Didn't get home till about 4:30 and then the grandkids had us rent two movies so that took care of the rest of the day. Did a little train running after everyone else went to bed (with the sound off).

John Bakeer, I have a Lionel camelback lettered for the Reading. It is a 4-6-0, ten wheeler. I had it on the layout for a while and in fact just took it off last evening to run something else. It runs pretty good but it is geared a little high so it is hard to start smoothly.

Picture is not all that great as it was taken in the display case with a mirrowed back.

Dave, Great pictures.

Roy, Maybe we will run into each other at York. I am planning to be there Thursday and Friday.

Colin, Be careful on using paint stripper on plastic, just might dissolve it.

Tonight we will be celebrating my granddaughters 13th birthday. Now I have two teenage grandchildren, time sure flies. Tomorrow we have to have the son-in-law at Philadelphia airport at 6:25 for an 8:25 flight. That means leave home about 4:30, ugh! My daughter and the two grandkids will be staying another two weeks.

Well, I have to go back to work for a few hours. Hope that’s it for the week!

Another nice spring day in Dixie. Had a nice lunch today with the church staff at a local restauant to celebrate our housekeeper's 30th anniversary at the church.

Doug, sorry to hear about your wife's back problems. There's no pain quite like back pain.

Jim, hang in there with the roofing project. And no, there's really nothing better than a diluted bleach solution to treat mildew. And nothing effective that will keep it from coming back!

Tom - Happy Birthday!!!

Colin - Good luck with the project - you might want to consider using a rust colored primer as your base coat.

Roy and John - have fun at York! Too bad you're not supposed to take pictures.

Speaking of grits [xx(], while I was in Nashville, TN this weekend I was able to dine at one of the city's finest resturants. Wouldn't you know it, grits was all over the menu. Lobster tail in grits sauce, *** of chicken sprinkled with grits, prime rib au grits, peacon pie with a grits crust, etc. etc.

I ordered my KFC without the grits. [:D]

Happy Birthday Tom!

Thanks for the info on mildew guys - I will have to check - the fascia is apparently aluminum with white paint on it, so it would have to be gentle. The contractor's inspector was just here and he straightened out a couple odds and ends, looked at some stuff and said they did a good job. He gave Charlene the color chart for the siding and she thinks they put the wrong shingles on the house 'cause they are lighter than the sample, but the inspector/sales guy told her it would look lighter on the house etc, so I think he has old samples or has run into this before etc. He seems like a nice guy and I think he got the most $$$ for us out of the deal to get the house fixed right instead of patched back together though.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Fried Catfish and grits go together real well! It's a popular combination at Gulf coast seafood restaurants.

I just took the trucks off of the rolling stock, and I am getting ready to apply the rusty colored primer I used on the FA to the trucks. How do you like????? I am going to use the black on some of the other rolling stock.

Tom, Happy Birthday.
Dr. John, around these parts, Catfish with Hush Puppies and Grits is a traditional meal. Of course it is served with Sweet Tea. You can get grits in about any establishment.

Just got a KW that I won on the bay. About $25. and it came with a bunch of track and even a control track and a #450 signal bridge. It needs a handle and the bridge needs a light hood, but not a bad find.
