I know I am late into this, Happy Birthday there Tom! [bday] I am glad to hear that your day went well, and without the grits!

Was a beautiful day here here where the temp was in the 60's, and the skies were pretty clear and blue.

I went to check on a university today to try to get back into school. The seem to have a ton of good computer-based programs for study. Since I also have a computer background as well as some video it may serve me well to get a degree in one of these fields. If I go through with it, then I may start classes in the fall, but only part time for now until my work schedule is stabilized.

Hope everyone has a good evening!

With all the birthday's, and most of you guys are already well into your "Seniorhood", thought this may help.

I came across this exercise suggested for seniors, to build
muscle strength in the arms and shoulders. It seems so easy,
so I thought I'd pass it on. The article suggested doing it
three days a week. Begin by standing on a comfortable surface,
where you have plenty of room at each side.

With a 5-lb. potato sack in each hand, extend your arms
straight out from your sides, and hold them there as long as
you can. Try to reach a full minute, then relax. Each day,
you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit
longer.

After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb. potato sacks. Then
25-lb. potato sacks, and then eventually try to get to where
you can lift a 50-lb. potato sack in each hand and hold your
arms straight for more than a full minute.

Once you feel confident at that level,
put a potato in each of the sacks.
(Substitute potato chips, or grits for potatoes if necessary)

It's Opening Day here in Boston. A major holiday on par with the 4th of July, or Mardi gras here. Fenway Park underwent a major renovation over the winter. It looks great, has more seats than ever, and the weather couldn't be nicer for it's new look debut. The current owners of the team have done a wonderful job with the team and the ballpark. Easily the best owners the Red Sox have ever had.

Got a lot done on the layout's centerpiece last night. A field stone platform with a garden, flag poles, and a welcome sign. It looks pretty sharp. Ran out of homemade trees. Need to go on a tree making tear and rip off a few dozen.

Still waiting on those 2023 Alcos I ordered a week ago from Marty. Maybe they'll come today.

Good morning all,

It is sunny with temps heading to the 70s today in SE Indiana. May have to mow the yard tonight. Son is home sick with 103 degree fever. Wife is staying home with him today as well. Work has been extremely frustrating. I wish I could say more, but I have to run.

Keep on training,

Hey Laz,

Did you see the Sopranos this week? I think Vito might be in some trouble. Good episode.

Morning everybody!

It's a beautiful day here in WNY. It should get to be about 70 and you can't ask for much more than that in April around here.

Tom, I'm glad you had a nice birthday.

Mitch and Laz, enjoy your time off. I am looking forward to some vacation time next week.

The last few weeks at work have been really busy and I don't see a let up in sight. I will have a few days away with the eye surgery taking place tomorrow afternoon and then having to stay out of sunlight for 5 days. It should make for a quiet weekend.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning, everyone!

Another beautiful day in Prattville, AL. Braves won their home opener against the Phillies last night, so that's good too!

My wife cut the front yard yesterday (over an acre) so I guess I owe her dinner this evening. Nice of her to do that for me. I'll need to cut the backt this afternoon. Also need to get into the woods and clear out some more brush and put out some snake repellant (yes, there really is such a thing). Both dogs were snake bit last year.

Big weekend coming up - we host a big egg hunt at the church we call "Egg-Citement." Kind of a spring festival thing for children and their parents - Easter egg hunt, inflatable games, puppet shows, music, crafts, food, etc. Should be a lot of fun. Then Sunday should be a great day for Easter services.

Hope everyone has a good day!

JIM,
VITO is in deep doo doo if the family finds out about the escapades.
Wonder if he did himself in or not?
Stay tuned.

LOL, Don. Beautiful day here in Chicago... nice job, Colin.
Thanks for the commiserations about my wife's back. She's figured out rest helps more than most meds or doc visits who'll tell her to rest. Thought of hiding a few baubles for her all over the house leading up to her birthday on Thur. Got them at the Art Insttitute museum store. She'll probably be finding them all summer. Doug - hope your wife's back improves. I was doing great and then I mowed the lawn (1/3 acre is all) last night and I'm a little sore this morning. GOt a ton of work to do today. Haven't heard from Gil lately, or did I miss it? Hope he's okay.

Doug,
Great idea regarding the baubles. When my wife's birthday roles around, I start one week before and give her a gift each day. We call it birthday week. Between you and I, it buys a lot of goodwill.

Laz,
I don't think Vito is going to do himself. He might go after others though.

Morning all.
Where is Chuck??? Bet he had fun. [:(]
Doug M, hope wife improves.
Mike, hope son's temp comes down. [:0]
Jim A, why are you not at the game? Should take the whole family.
Sopranos, haven't seen yet this week. Wife wanted to see the Judus thing [me too] and then the new Ten Commandments last night. She slept through most of both. Hope to get to see it tonight or Wed night. Should record it.

Lots to do outside today. Beautiful day. Going into the 70's and then 80's. Garden beds to do and planting to do this week. Might try to hit the pond today too. Little boys skipping school and fishing yesterday. Catching lots of crappie.

Have a good one and God bless.

BTW: we are at page 800 and almost another birthday for the "Pot" [Sat, April 15]. Wonder how much computer space we are taking up in the server main frame?

JIM, I have to entertain my wife for a month, But at least she doesn't complain about me buying trains so it all works out in the end.

Another set of twins would be great. The Double Mint twins come to mind!

Can't afford going to a Red Sox game. $90 just to park your car!!! It's a zoo. If I lived in Kansas City or Detroit, I could just walk up and buy a ticket on game day. Here, the place is already sold out for the entire year.

What do I win for being at the top of page #800?

Did you mail my FREE PS2 diesel yet? It's going to look good repainted in B&M blue!

Good Morning All:

Days like today get me thinking less about my indoor trains and more about my outdoor trains. Would you say that I have a one tracked mind?

Doug:

Sorry to hear about your wife. I have been fighting a pulled muscle in my lower back for the past three weeks. Rest, followed by frequent stretching helps me more than any medication would.

Doug, Jim and Laz:

Nice idea for the wife. I will have to try to incorporate that this year. I am pretty sure it will have the desired effect...

Regards,

John

NEWS FLASH

Chuck is in the hospital!

They drained [with needle] so much fluid out of his lung [twice that did this] that they kept him. His lungs were out of place and had mashed him stomach so that is why he had no appetite. Pumping him full of strong meds. They still do not think he has cancer. They think he has has this infection for longer than he originally thought. His direct line to his room is 440-816-5245 [he'll probably shoot me for publishing it]. I'm calling him for a short chat only [I know, a short chat for me is impossible]. He will probably be in there for about three days. Got all of this from his wife who called a little while ago.

My local paper just ran a story yesterday about the dramatic increase in bacterial lung diseases. Really nasty stuff. Hard to fight. I hope Chuck gets well soon. Please give him our best!

Thanks for the update Chief - please tell him to get well from my family as well. I imagine that having a dozen phone calls to a guy who is probably sedated and having problems breathing would be a burden, but a really good call from a friend may be a blessing he needs.

May God grant skill and wisdom to his providers and put His healing hand upon our friend and his family in this stressful situation. I pray he has a complete recovery as soon as possible without any residual disability and no cancer. Amen.
