I don't know if I mentioned this or not, but since we're on the topic of dogs and other animals, the longest lived dog (provable) was a beagle named Butch who lived in Virginia to age 27.

A 27-year-old Australian mongrel hunting dog fed on kangaroo and emu ties the record.

Apparently, the hunting dogs live longer than other breeds if you exercise them regularly.

I take my BB Beagle out hunting every day for a couple hours and twice a day on weekends. Her howls when tracking rabbits and wanderings across property lines have gotten me into hot water on several occasions, however, and I try to stay one step ahead of the dog catcher. My goal is to move out to the northern plains in seclusion where my BB can safely roam without meddling neighbors, dog catchers and traffic.

You haven't enjoyed life to the fullest until you've seen and heard a beagle or beagle pack hunting rabbits.

Hi all,

TGIF – It’s a Blue Clear Sky in NE Ohio at 82 degs. We had to make a trip to Windsor, On this morning for work. I found out about it yesterday afternoon at 2:30. So at 4:30am this morning we were off on our trip for a 1 hour meeting and take some pics of old tooling, and then our drive back to Cleveland. I am glad to be home and that’s over.

I saw some of the talk about our pets and most of you know about Spanky who should out live all of us. They have a normal live span of over 100 years. And he is only 9.


We also have a Chihuahua. And I will bet, inch for inch, my dog is bigger than your dog, and I used to raise Great Danes.




She is just a little over weight.

Buckeye, I have family in the Cin. area and in Milford, so whenever I manage to come in for a visit I ALWAYS find time to stop in at Davis Trains. If you aren't careful you could either walk out totally broke or a credit card bill equal to the national debt. [^]
Forgot to add that the B&O sets for the "Fall Fair Event" look mighty nice not to mention some of the other very inexpensive entry level stuff. GP-7's for the same price as a BEEP.

I have visited several of the big name trains stores including the big one in Massachusetts and the big one in Denver. Davis is really a great store and their people really know the electronics side of model trains. The other day I asked Bobby in G Scale to help me put lights in my passenger cars. He had three different ways for me to accomplish my goal. He also put three new engines on the test track to let me hear the new sounds. Unfortunately, my work takes me to northern Ohio more often of late and I have not found a store that compares to Davis in terms of customer service.

Where did you see the GP-7s? Some B&O Diesels would look good on my layout.

This place is surrounded by solid rock. 20 feet deep and mostly 16 to 18 feet deep all over. Took days of hot work to get path opena nd build trun around lane and launch lanes. This is my private fishing spot about 5 miuntes form the house [which I could see if there were no trees]. This is not typical NC in this area.

Chief, That's the kind of fishing I miss. I grew up in N. Ky. and as a kid went fishin all the time, if we weren't at our own pond we would be at other ponds, lakes or the river. None of the fancy stuff til I got into highschool just a plain old cane pole. Tried out here for a few years when we first came out but in plain words freshwater fishing in SoCal sucks.[sigh][|(]

HI all,
Well it another slow rainy day in NE Ohio with a brake from the heat, only 70 deg.

We had some computer problems last night, it didn’t want to start. Acted like the hard drive died. We check it out again. I added an extra USB card to able to download both my camera and camcorder. Today I removed the USB plug for the camcorder and it started up. It must think the camcorder plug is a drive and get hung up on it.

Well the good new and bottom line is we are up and running for now.

Hey everybody.....The big wedding went off without a hitch here in Buckeye Land. Yes, Baby Buckeye Riveter was married yesterday and finally I have some quiet time to just sit at the computer. [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D] Now get this Chief, there are no packages in the train room.

A full house of visitors all weekend and the trains with TMCC were a hit. The general public has no idea how sophisticated the model trains have become until you begin running them. [:O]

Tom, I don't know when I will be in Cleveland again. Last week I was in Cincinnati. I'm hoping to stop in at the Train Festival in Denison on my way home from vacation in about 2 weeks, but I also might stop at a friends house to see their boat.

Chief, from your postings, are you telling me and the others that Iowa is not heaven, but North Carolina, just outside of Roseville just might be with your private fishing pond. I'm jealous. .[bow]

[:D] Tried to buy the pond and some land but widow lady [daughter of folks that built this house] will not sell due to capital gains taxes. I was going to buy and build a fishing cabin [like her dad had there] and boat house. Maybe one day. Funny. The man [Mr. Bill] that built this house loved to fish and garden. His wife [Aunt Lessie] loved dogs and flower gardening. We bought the place after she died and we love to do the same things just like they did. All you hard working folks have a good week. Chief, They are a good ways from us but are you ready for this, Allstate, the so-called "Good Hands Folks", are suing the city and county of San Diego as well as the Ca. Dept. of Forestry for the losses that they incurred last Oct in the Cedars Fire. I'm going to try & stop by and visit regularly even tho things are going great with my screenplay and I'm pretty busy with that. I did manage to lay more track this weekend as I need a nice break from writing.

Also, as part of the break, I take my beagle hunting a few hours a day (she hunts, I merely observe). Yesterday we went on an extended outing into the deep woods and she scented on some deer. Back and forth they went, charging all over the forest, BB the Beagle chasing the deer and the deer chasing BB and snorting furiously.

When she ran low on steam after an hour of these antics, she returned huffing and puffing, covered with mud and vegetation, happy as can be.

Chief, so pond fertilizer makes the water plants already in the pond grow? I've never heard of it. We have somewhat the opposite problem. Gravel mining has left gigantic and deep water holes all over our county - the city traded a road for a few of them (without any additional money to make 'em a beach or fishing lake). They are v. deep (nearly 100 ft.) but pristine (no vegetation) and allegedly the cleanest water in three states. You can't fish in them (yet). The copys regularly arrest some of our migrant workers who take the fish out in huge buckets. A guy landed his seaplane there a few months back and the town went bananas figuring he'd have some strange bacteria on the pontoons...

I was messing around with the layout last evening, trying to get my homemade airplane and plyon working when I noticed one of my sidings isn't 'working'. The red light goes off on the R transformer every time I tried to move a train. It looks like its wired correctly (from theback of the transformer into the lockon), there's no debris' on the track. I wonder why it won't power up. I tried my best engjine (the Ballyhoo) and didn't get anything but a momentary blast of circus music. Any ideas? I think I'll trace the two wires and just re-wire them again.

Sounds like a short somewhere. I put an old F3 on the track the other night and it wanted to shut everything down [including the DCS running on separate track [only grounds connected]. Checked everything. Found nothing. So started to eliminate things. Cars were OK. Put engine on and the same. Turned it over adn turned the wheels on the power truck. Put it back on and it ran fine. Guess it set too long. ????? Hey, check the track for something small shorting across rails. Check your switch [sometimes they will short]. Good luck.

Buckeye – glad to hear that the wedding went well, you will have to teach the southern boy, Chief, how to let go of the young ones. When they move out, they should take there stuff with them.

Chief, pond fertilizer [?], See you can learn something every day, I never heard of it. Please tell us more.

Dave – be careful letting your dog run deer. In some states (like PA) it is against the law and punishable by death (to the dog). We would hate to see that happen to BB.

Dough – I would agree with Chief, check to see if something is on the track.

Went something like this:
Buckeye, yes I'll be there. What, When and Where?????? I'll get Pam to ride up with me [that will be the day]. We stopped at a town in Maryland or WVA at a train festival two summers ago. It had rides on a commuter line and that was all I saw. Streets were closed for venders but no toy trains I could find. It was some where between Harpers Ferry and Gettysburg. We just saw a highway sign and turned off the main highway and visited.

Sick w/toothache today. Dentist won't be in until tomorrow so likely staying home.

Cost of this one tooth:

$800 2 years ago for crown

Same tooth now they want $4,500 to rebuild it.

Total cost= $5,300 for one tooth.

I told them to just yank it out & they said if I do, likely tooth above it will also need to come out.

Insurance doesn't even cover it and it's a medical expense!

Think of all of the trains I could buy for 1 dang tooth!

Chief, I'l recheck the track, and check all the connections. I must be missing something. Jerry, thanks. I just have the two wires from the lockon trace back to two of the imputs on back of the R, though I am going to unhook everything and hook it up all over again, and see what happens.

Doug, when you start back to hooking up, turn power on each time you go a little farther until you get your problem. Morning gang. Off to pond to do a little more work. Then FISH. Spanky, you add a special fertilizer [low in nitrogen and potash] slowly. You want to feed the little micros in the water without causing a BIG algi bloom. This darkens the water and will shade out all the grass that is in there. Too big of a algi bloom and oxygen is gone and dead fish. Kill the grass to fast [with something like copper sulfate] and oxygen gone and dead fish. So it is a slow and careful process. Lots of little micros are feed for little things and they are feed for little fi***hat are feed for bigger fish and so on. You want to darken the water until you can just see a piepan nailed to the bottom of a stick at 18". Now you have had your morning class in fish pond management. God bless all.
