Congratulations, spankybird, on your four years... My wife and I are leaving next Wed. (if nothing goes wrong) for our first trip without kids in 15 years - I saved up for a long time for this one - we're going to Rome (the big one in Italy) for a week. I'm not exactly keen on the long flight. I got my first non-skeeter sting just last week in a restaurant of all places. I was holding our two year old waiting to be seated in this high-roofed barn-like, pizza-and-peanut-shells-on-the-floor kind of place and this hornet came in out of nowhether and stung me on the finger - I almost dorpped the baby I was so surprised. Fortunately, nothing a little Motrin couldn't seem to fix. Wonder how I lasted for so long without ever getting stung. Dave, you should see the Metra newsletter 'On the Bi-Level' - it's full of rider complaints and comments like your story - people cutting their toe-nails on the train, putting on make-up, saving a million seats for mystery companions on a packed train, having a boozy 'private' party in the car (I remember the smoking cars - and the bar cars we used to have), complaining about wheelchair-bound passengers taking up lots of room or taking too long to detrain, walking over blind people waiting to get off, the conductors on all these lines must have their hands full. Well, I wrote my great big long French final exam this morning. I'm getting geared up for the summer, but now I have to worry about a virus my computer has. Sasktel (my internet provider) phoned me last night to say they disabled my outgoing e-mail option so the virus my computer has doesn't spread. I now have to get rid of it and then call them up so I can send e-mails again. I'm not exactly the most computer-literate person there is, so wish me luck. On the bright side, I am not currently bidding on/winning anything on ebay (but that could change very quickly), so I don't have any urgent need to send any e-mails at the moment.

Got one of those new Williams acting up. Ran fine last week lashed together. Tried them today [need to run something other than PS2 [:D]]. One will not go in reverse. Now even does not have neutral. At first it would go in reeverse and back up a few inches and jump into forward [this would get them all "crossed up"]. Ran them seperate. One runs great. Now this one will not even find neutral. Only forward constantly. Guess I'll call Williams. bet they do not have 5 hours on them. Everything else runs great. Even turn a siding and the old engine track into a loop and made a new engine track for the U Boats. So now I have a loop inside the bigger loop. It can run on another transformer too. [:D]

I have a couple of Lionels but prefer running Williams and MTH. A weird combo but I see that's what you run as well. I have the long U-boat and the very long SD-45 as well as GP-9. THey all are Santa Fe blue & yellow and look colorful when they are passing in front of the Super Chief.

It's a cool (temp 55) and rainy morning in NE Ohio. Thanks to all for the best wishes on my anniversary. I have been married for 29 years total, just not to the same woman. I guess that doesn’t count.[;)]

My wife did get me something for the train layout, but you will have to wait until Sunday Photo Fun to see it. [:P]

Sask – sorry to hear that you computer got sick. Do you think that ‘take to aspirin and call me in the morning’ will work [?] [:(]

Where the heck is evryone? I've been finishing up the JD windmill. Got it mounted on a big slab of 3" thick 3 1/2 foot by 3 1/2 foot white granite [the people that built this house owned the monument company and we have lots of leftovers]. Anchored with eyebolts all the way through [holes drilled with the big hammer drill the kids gave me for my birthday]. Should not blow away.

Morning all! I've actually got a Saturday off! Downside? I have to work tomorrow from 10 to 3. That is, if you call playing Four Seasons, Beatles, and Leslie Gore records on the radio work!

Thinking about taking the family to Fort Ticonderoga today. They're having a French & Indian War battle reinactment, with over 900 troops, Indians, and family members. The D&H main from Montreal is only a scant half-mile from the fort.

I'm starting to get concerned about a recent Ebay transaction. I purchased one of the Bowdish Homestead houses on the 17th, and haven't heard a peep from the seller. It was only after the sale that I saw the number of negatives on his feedback. Oh well, I shoulda checked.

Meanwhile, if you ever have to buy something from Ebay, check out J.Tripp3. He really is Jeremy Grzyboski, and he delivers VERY fast, packed VERY well!

Time to go make eggs and play trains...

Hello all. I'm on a lunch break from class - what a beautiful morning - had to shut the blinds in the lab so the students wouldn' t be staring outside (instead of at yours truly) all day...my invention worked last evening. I'm making my own airplane plyon for our layout airport. I have a battery powered eggbeater with an unrolled wire coat hanger stuck in it and a little plastic airplane hanging by yarn on the other end of the wire. It actually works. The wire whirls slowly overhead with the airplane. Now on to the aesthetics of it...

I just drove past a corn field on the way home...the plants are 4 to 6 inches high! Up here in the great white north, the biggest problem with tomatoes is getting them to green up before the first freeze!

Chief, yes, class is done. It's a college class for adults so it's on the weekend or at night so they can come after work. Corn is only a few feet high in Illinois though the soy beans look very robust. What is the expression, something something high by the Fourth of July? Kooljock, is your station accessible via the web? It would be fun to try to tune you in...

Cooljock1, the tobacco [us in NC still say tobacco is a vegetable] is shoulder high. The field corn is about ten feet tall. I was talking about the eating corn in my garden. Some soybeans are just coming up because they were planted in the "ruff" behind the wheat that was just combined [that way we get two crops in one year on the same field]. Yes, how can we tune you in???

cnw1995, pretty good for you to teach adult classes.

Both think about this when you say move south. It was in the low 80's and partly cloudy when I went into the garden to cut the squash, pick cucumbers and tomatoes. Not hard work at all. 15 minutes later, I came in the house looking like I had fallen in the lake. HUMIDITY [xx(]

It is an other Blue Clear Sky day in NE Ohio, temp at 65 going to high 70 or low 80’s. What a great start to a day.[8D] Later we are going to one of our favorite train stores to pick up some of the 19th century cars that came in. [tup]And maybe order another steam engine. [:-^]

BTW our corn in NE Ohio is usually knee high by the 4th of July, but remember it doesn’t get planted much before Memorial Day.

Last night the wife and I went to see the current Harry Potter movie, enjoyable but a lot left out vs. the book. In one scene there was a toy train running on a circle of track, the two passenger cars looked like "Annie" and "Clarabell" from the "Thomas the Tank" set. The scene was too dark to make out the engine, anyone familiar with the old Brit trains see the movie and able to ID the set?

Now for the local weather.
It's a cloudy day here in N.E. GA with thunderstorms expected this afternoon. Temp. is currently 80F with highs forcast for the mid 80's. At least there's a NASCAR race on TV later.

Roger, We saw "Harry Potter" last week. With the loss of R. Harris and a new director I think that the movie really didn't measure up to the previous releases.[2c]
For the weather as usual it never changes here in So-Cal. Just a little early morning cloudiness followed by sunshine and warmth.
Feel sorry for the TV weather people here, must be the most boring job around, the weather doesn't change, normally, til next november when our rainy season starts.[(-D]
