Morning, everyone.

Light rain this AM. The heavy stuff should roll in tonight. Weather Channel is not predicting more than about 2 inches for our area, so shouldn't be too much of a problem. Main concern from these systems is tornadoes.

In the meantime, I have a busy day ahead. Have a good one!

No rain in sight, though I enjoyed seeing all sorts of UP work trains out today. The ballast gons all had a little solar panel 'tent' - I wonder what it powers. Spent the late evening picking up bottle rocket sticks and other debris in the yard from my neighbor's over-enthusiastic celebration. Back to work... As John said, at least it's a short week.

Dr. John, is your son in Venezuala for a long time or is this just a short-term mission trip?

Good Morning,

Chief--we should have met for breakfast, I was up at 5:45, couldn't sleep so I had a light breakfast and hit the bigger part of the lawn with the weed trimmer. It's probably good that my closest neighbor is 200 yards away, that weed trimmer is LOUD (industrial type) and I have to wear hearing protection. I normally never start before 7:00 and never on weekends but today was the exception. Heard the neighbor leave on her Harly at 5:45 so all's fair in noise[:)]

As I think through of what I want to do wtih my new AIU I'm trying to think through sequentially as how to input the switches and only do it once and make sure I've got the names on them that make sense. When I originally installed the switches I used terminal strips so that should make the conversion easier, I hope. If any of you have done this, what size wire did you use to attach to the AIU? It looks like a smalli***ype wire should work the best. I am going to daisy chain a 2nd AIU for ease of operation for the lumber yard switches. It's been well over a year since I've done any wiring and I'm actually looking forward to it, I know, I'm sick[:p]

When I was at Hobby Haven yesterday I was talking to a few other guys and I think the general consensus was that we all enjoyed building more than running. I never would have believed that until I've gone through it.

Have a great day.

Good morning everyone, being on vacation is spoiling me. Not getting up at 5:00 AM is great.
Got the bathroom painted yesterday and put in three ceiling fans on Monday since my AC quit again and my brother the AC guy is out of town.[:(!]. He should be back tonight or tomorrow. Thank God it cooled off.

Roger- You go ahead and show Tom pictures of the tractor, the rest of us want to see pictures of Dave date[:D][:D]

Have a good day

Doug, my son is down in Venezuela (Maracaibo) for about ten days on a mission trip. Thanks for asking!

Still waiting on the heavy rain from T.S. Cindy to come through. It must be moving slower than it was, no rain at the moment.

If I don't have to watch the grand daughters Friday I'll set the tractor and some farmers, might be the Chief and some friends, at the layout farm and shoot a few photos.

Wouldn't you know it. Nice and cloudy, looking like rain, this afternoon so I decided to wash my pick-up. I get everything ready and reach in the bucket for the sponge and out comes the sun, nice an bright. After sweating up a storm and finishing the truck it gets cloudy again.

Glad that I don't live south-west of Atlanta, they've had severe thunderstorms, tornado watches and warnings for the past few hours. We may get a bit more rain out of it later tonight, rain tomorrow 70% chance. All compliments of Cindy.

Dr. John - How bad was the weather out your way today?

Good morning, all!

Truly terrible what happened in London. The war goes on.

Yes, Tom - we are wet and will get more rain down this way. I talked to family down in Mobile and they got over 7 inches of rain yesterday. We got about 3 inches. Now watching the next storm approach. May have to batten down the hatches come Monday. Wish I could send some of this stuff to you guys that need it!

Morning gang. Tom, any airport in Willoughby is LOST. [;)] That would be a good one to attend. That was when airplanes were real airplanes [not jet motors with a seat attached]. Suppose to get much needed rain. "They" say it will tract mostly west of us. "I" say we will get a good soaking. Just do not need severe stuff. IF the temp does not get too high due to clouds, plan on getting into attic and installing ceiling exhaust fans [one for train room]. That means I will start painting the room which means I will then start building. [:D] Did not want to do all that unitl I sawed the hole in the plaster [this house is plaster and that is dusty sawing]. Been too hot to get up there even with the big fan running. Once the fan is mounted, then wiring to do and switch to put into wall. Sun keeps coming back out. Better get going Have a good one and God bless all.

A beautiful day here - very sad about London - now the media will be all-terror-all-the-time without knowing anything. I can't stand that - our local airport is in the middle of a former gravel pit now surrounded by new subdivisons full of NIMBYS

Hi Guys,
Now we have those *** al quida things going on too. The airports are secured with army personnel and a lot of european countries have code red on the alarms. This morning 3 metro trains and a double decker bus have been blown. First it was said to be a electricity problem but after the second& third metro and the bus exploded it couldn't be something like that. I heard the first things on the radio this morning at about half past 10.
Same kind of utter evil kind of way as in Madrid 2 years ago and 9-11..
Sad and not understandable. If there should indeed a devil excist, this is his face..

Stay safe all.

No attic work today!!!! Went to 92 and heat index over 100. They missed the cloudy skies and mid 80's. They might be right about us missing Cindy. No rain!!!!! T watches all around us but we seem to be in some kind of sunny hole. Cleaned out all the gutters this AM. Sun came out while I was on boats/tractor shed roof. Reflective painted metal roof. Looked like I ahd srown when I got off. Cooking dinner for wife. Pork loin, fresh corn on the cobb, squash, tomatoes and cucumbers with oinons, peppers in vinager. [dinner][:D] Bring on the rain!!!!! If it does not rain, will have to irrigate. [:(]

Good afternoon,
Nice day here, a high of 79 and very low humidity. We need rain here too. Have only had 2 1/2 inches since the end of April. The lawn is turning a nice shade of golden brown as we don't water the grass, only the garden and flower beds get watered. One good thing the grass does not need cutting very often these days.

Chief - How many tankers of rain do you want? Anyone have detailed drawings for a 1:1 ark? The animals are starting to line up in pairs around here.

Rained extremely heavy here last night but nothing compared to s-w of Atlanta and in Atlanta. The 10pm news last night showed a lot of flooding in, and around, Atlanta. I also heard some rumers of tornado touchdowns, should be some info. on tonight's news.

It appears the Arabs get us two ways, raising the price of oil and terrorism.

Wow I haven't been here in a while. How is everyone doing? I am working on building my HO layout right now. It is 10' by 10' with a 18" by 8' extension for a staging yard. The benchwork is complete and track laying comes soon. After I make a good chunk of progress in that I am going to build a 4' by 8' O layout. And next time I go to a train show, (hopefully in a month or so) I am going to find the parts I need to get my Lionel Prewar 259 looking good. Well thats all for now

Happy Railroading

Just finished watching some of the news, confirmed that an F2 tornado hit south of Atlanta last night. For you NASCAR fans, it did major damage to Atlanta Motor Speedway and a lot of private structures along the way, including a small airport where planes were tossed evey which way. Glad it didn't reach here, would've caught me asleep.

Also, Dennis is now has a projected path further east than originally anticipate. Dr. John, keep an eye on the weather.

Roger, I can not buy any rain. Raining all around us and nothing. A dozen drops a few minutes ago. Tornado warnings everywhere [none touching down so far] and no rain here. [:(] I think a rotation went over Charlotte Motor Speedway [really in Concord NC] but did not touch down. Glad I did not go to Kerr Lake [as planned earlier] as T warning there too. Bad storm sent over buddy's place there. Maybe some rain before the night is over. Some 70 miles south of us now heading this way. They really blew the temp forcast today. 93 and over 100 heat index. Lots of wind as the JD windmill is spinning. Sit and wait. No rain by tomorrow AM and I will irragate garden and flowers. Grass is brown. Was hoping it would be cloudy and cooler tomorrow so I could get into the attic and get train room started. We'll see.

Yeah Roger, I'm watching it. We had three tornadoes in the area yesterday. Thankfully no damage done. I've already picked up batteries, water, etc. and will top off the gas tanks on the vehicles tomorrow.

Evenin' All,
The weather has been great so far , not to hot upper 80's to lower 90's and real dry. Fortunately no major brush fires yet, but we have a very long fire season to go yet. Watching the weather in Fla, can't believe how early the storms are starting this year.
Got a good start on the cradle for our first grandchild, picked up my first batch of maple this morning. Kinda funny, the wood I was carrying was worth more than the truck I was hauling it in. [B)] Can't believe this stuff has gone up so much since the last one I made for some friends of ours, but that was about 12 years ago.[:O] I guess there won't be any new loco's in my future for awhile. Good Morning All from NE Ohio

where the temp is 65 with Blue Clear Sky’s and going to mid 80 and no rain in site.

Our prays are with all in London. It makes you wonder if the US also knows something and that is why the NJT is being so tuff on rail fanning.

Looks like Denis is going to be a real Menaces. All ready a cat 4 and it hasn’t hit the warm waters of the Gulf. You boys down south look out.

Chief,

I'd gladly send you some of our rain if I could. All it does here is rain. 27 days of it in May alone. And it's still rains on average of 4 days a week. The grass gets so tall and thick that mulch mowing is just out of the question. Gotta be sure to cut it and bag it on the days it doesn't happen to be raining. Then it's just hot and humid, but we did manage to have gorgeous weather for the past holiday weekend. Easily the worst summer for weather I've ever seen.

Two weeks of vacation starting tomorrow. Heading up to Lake Ossippee in NH. While there I plan to visit a lot of the train shops in that area (when it's raining). Klickety Klack in Wolfborough, the Hartman Museum in Intervale to name just a few, and some of the scenic railways, like the Conway Scenic RR in Conway, NH and the Cog Railway at Mt. Washington.

The Conway Scenic has a great turntable with old locos and rolling stock in various stages of restoration on the tracks around it. I hope to get some photos. They pretty much let people walk around at will there. Link below:

Morning gang. Got a real blessing late last night. Rain!!!! 1.1" and no wind or lightning. Had tornado warnings all around us, bad lightning storms around us and flash floods. We just got what was needed, rain. Feel for all of those in the path of Dennis. Not a good feeling to watch a big hurricane coming your way. Gas prices have jumped up due to Cindy [they say they took losses on the off shore rigs]. Now they will really rape us on this one. Dr. John. maybe we can send this one to Texas. My buddies there are crying drought. Already sun is out and hot and humid. Garden is happy. Repaired my Pennsy turbine last night. Tape came off of a solder joint I had done some time back and was touching the shell. Unsoldered it, slid heat shrink over wire, resoldered and shrunk the heat shrink. Will not happen again. All have a great day and weekend coming up. God bless all.

Yesterday the paper said we've only gotten 17% of normal rainfall for this year. My lawn isn't its normal brown so much as dead in some places... The northern Illinois corn crop is just about gone. The soybeans will be next. Lotsa sun though. Really looking forward to the weekend - this has been a hard week at work for such a short one...
