Good Morning from NE Ohio

where the temp is 58 deg with partly cloudy skies.

T G I F

Tomorrow Willoughby is having it’s Classic Car Curse-in. The downtown is closed off to thru traffic and they have over 400 great classic cars in town. They also have live bands playing 50 and 60 music and dancing in the streets. If you are in NE Ohio, make plans on stopping in Willoughby on this Saturday, 4:00pm to 11:00pm. Stewarts Hobbies, in downtown will also have a live band and also a Batmobile at his store.

Doug – sounds like you left bankers are trying to move east. You had another one last night.

Morning gang. Up early for me the retired guy [well, I'm up early to get the wife off everyday, around 5:30 or so, back to bed for a little snooze [;)]] Got to mow grass [mine, 2 neighbors]. Just ride today. Got to go have a surprise meeting with Town Manager. One of those I don't like to do but have been know to do so well. Audit police operations for the last two weeks. Get to the bottom of a problem. [:(] Town with fast growth problems. Well, hope your day will go better than mine. Hey Jim [jaabat], for a Yankee, you are a pretty good guy. Guess it is because you are not from Ohio. [;)] God bless all.

Well thanks, Chief.

Yet another rainy summer day here. The weekend might actually be dry. Sunday might be dry and 75! I hope to catch up on a lot of outdoor chores that have been backlogged due to lousy weather. Maybe take the kids to the park and for ice cream Sunday afternoon.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there.

Another beautiful day in paradise, uh Chicago - cloudless blue sky, low seventies. Looking forward to working in the yard tomorrow. I guess it is true, I get down in the basement less in the decent weather - had a choice between training and throwing a baseball around with the kids yesterday and chose the out-of-doors.

Another sunny day, may reach 90 again. Finished mowing, and trimmed some branches that were head knockers. Now that the sun is over the trees its starting to get a bit warm for any more yard work, time to move into the air conditioned train room.[:D]

Morning gang,
It is cool and cloudy here again. I don't mind it much though. I am not a real big fan of heat and humidity. I would not make a very good southerner in the summer time. My wife would though, she is from Tennessee and just loves the high temperatures. When we are in Tennessee visiting she and my brother in law will sit out on the porch when it is over 100° while her sister and I sit inside where it is air conditioned. My brother in law does like to cool off some though, he has a train house and it is air conditioned. The train house is pretty cool, it is a 20' by 20' building that he had built just for his trains. Well I guess that is enough rambling so, have a good day!

Just finished watching the noon news and have a few words of warning

" STAY OUT OF ATLANTA THIS SUMMER.
The geniuses at GA DOT have scheduled major roadwork on every interstate through and around Atlanta with no alternatives other than to stay away. They are advising to add an hour to your trip through/around town. He** Atlanta is already bumper to bumper at all hours.

One example: I285 on the north side, a 5, maybe its 6, lane road will be reduced to 1 on weekends until work is done.

Love it! When through roads are closed off there is usually a lot of cursing.

On many Sundays just a short distance from my house at a little shopping center you can see quite a few classic and custom cars. We check it out a few times a year. Very interesting sights. Some neat cars too.

I like Atlanta except in the summer. Too hot and humid. I'd rather be on the coast.

Good Morning from NE Ohio

What a great day for downtown classic car cruse-in with live music and dancing in the streets.
I don’t know who will be rock and rolling more, us or the left bank guys. Just that they don’t need a band, just a quack.

GregM – you and Karen should come up.

Every Thurs is cruising night during the Summer in downtown Crystal Lake - lots of strolling among classic cars - the Rotary serves up hamburgers and corn from their mobile kitchen - there's the local radio station broadcasting - Corvette clubs and other great-looking cars filling all the local parking lots... It's the same night as church, but I plan to go a few times this year. A beautiful day here today. Gotta go over to help fill up the dunk tank at church - something for Father's Day.

Hey, I forgot that today was the local air show - we're on the approach for the local airport - and a P51 Mustang just grazed the branches about the house - that'll wake everyone up. I think they have someone's private MiG jet too this year...

Evening(or morning for most of you) from halfway around the world. It's a hot 95° or so here in Tours, France outside of the hotel qnd is supposed to get warmer as we travel further south. Have seen a few trains and took the metro several times in Paris. Much of the Paris metro is old(early 1900s), and the stations really show it. The newest lines, though, ride on tires contained within steel rails with secondary wheels for electricity: The ones thqt ride on rails are much, much smoother.

I would say more, but am having a lot of trouble with the keyboard layout. Please excuse any typos.

Hope thqt you all qre doing well and thqt you have a good day.

P.S. Not a decent cup of coffee to be had anywhere.

Ben, Glad you are having fun. The French say the same thing about our coffee!

Chief - some fathers day surprise - you get to cook!

Just about packed. Leave at 8 am tomorrow for Scout Summer Camp!

Did the yardwork today and so hot - jumped in pool to cool off. Luckily the water has not hit bath water temp yet!

I will check back in next week when I return. Have a great week all!

Hi all usually I'm on modle railroader forum although I mainly collect Lionel Prewar. Just got involved in there when received a Lionel HO set and never left lol. Not far from me about 15 miles is a town called Glouster, VA. and every friday evening durning the summer they have clasic car show in one of the parking lots (where the public library is).

Right now in the middle of redoing a room in the house (new windows , panneling ect, ect and then I'll be puting up a 1"X10" shelf all the way around the room at about the 6' 6" level to make a layout on to run my trains. not sure if I'll have one loop or 2. may have one with a siding for the other and set up so it automaticly switches trains after each time around.

Any way thats what I'll have in time as don't have the room for a permenet layout at a lower height as this room is also guess room / home office(computor room).

Too much lawn work to do to make it to the car show. If you can post a few pictures of the best sights, On second thought, should probably stick with the cars, LOL

Where are the cars, where are the cars????? I'm sure Tom has some pictures. Well, cooked for the whole nine yards. Turned out goooooood. [:D] Was cool and a nice breeze and low humidity. Skeeters got to biting the ladies at the patio table. Got out my little butane bug chaser and no more problems.
rtraincollector, glad to have you at the Coffee Pot. Been to your town several times. Been to VA a lot. We go to the VA mountains before we go the the NC mountains. In fact, closer.
Hey RNG, think I'll come and have lunch with you tomorrow. Sounds good. [;)]

Just wondering if thats the Batmobile that the place in Tallahassee has or is it another if I remember right there were about 3 total made back in the early / mid 60's for the show. I know theres one in Tallahassee, FL. can't think of name of the place in fact used to live near it lol but they had a lot of clasic cars in there seems that the name was something like Tallahassee Antique car Museum. They also had the batmobile from batman movie # 1 I believe.

ChiefEagles I acually live in Hartfield, VA. Gloucester is about 15 miles away.

You all have a great day and thanks for the welcome

Happy Father’s Day

and

Good Morning from NE Ohio

where we have Clear Blue Skys
with temp at 65 and heading to 75.

Last night Downtown Willoughby Car Cruse-in was great.
Here are a few more shots of the batmobile.

I don’t know who made it, but I can tell you that it has a 460 cu in Mercury power train in it. And for $85,000.00 you can own it.

Here is a shot of Stewart’s Hobbies with the band playing

This was also at Stewart’s Hobbies

This one is for Buckeye

For those of you who remember what Metal Flake is
