Hi Y'all,
Weedeaters don't excist in our small farm. We have sheep...[:)]
Today I've been plastering a few hours. Need to clean the track though, it's a bit spotted..
It looks right, but it needs some finishing on places where rocks have to be later on. First I'll let it dry and harden out, then, when I got new plaster, I start finishing the rockarea's.

It's an advantage of a small layout that the things like fiddling with plaster soaked cloth are finished in a day..
Today I also razored a sheep[:o)] and it's still alive!

Yep there's always a small adventure on every corner..[:D]

Well it is a little cooler today, just got up to 80. My allergies are bothering me something terrible. When I got home from work, the neighbors kid was playing rap music so loud that all of the dogs were howling and barking. I finally went over to tell him to turn it down but he didn't answer the door. About 10 minutes later he shut it off. He was lucky because I was about ready to call the cops. That rap music drives me nuts!! I also don't like those boom boxes in cars.[:(!]

Hi everyone, nicer working today, though I didn't get my nap in at work! I want ot tell you a thing to look for on the weedeaters when they don't run . There's usually a shiny or chrome square plate on the walbro carbeuaters, held on with 4 screws, that has a screen in there that collects dirt & needs to be taken off & cleaned from time to time. We've had to do this a lot on our R/C planes & boats that use these gas weedeater engines, that was always the first thing to check when they didn't run right. Thanks, John

Good afternoon, everyone!

I just got back from some "dumpster diving." My school is doing some major renovations over the summer and are currently doing a big clean-out of stuff they don't need. Parked out back is a big trailer full of stuff that will eventually be taken to the dump. Two friends of mine went out there yeterday and took home loads of cumputer parts. My one friend is planing to build a life-size sculpture of a man made entirely out of computer parts for an art project. As it turns out, a lot of what they took was still working, so they're going to sell it now. Today, the old pool table from the games room our school used to have got added. I've always wanted a pool table and the school is convientently located next to my back yard, so I took it home as soon as school was out today. It's a little rough, but not too bad. Unfortunately, they didn't throw away the cues or balls that go with it. It's amazing what some people will throw out! The only problem is that I don't have a place to put it. The basement is full of trains.

Some time ago, my French teacher (who has seen my train collection) told me about a friend of her's (from Saskatoon, I believe) whose husband was into model trains big-time. Her friend passed away in February. Her husband was 90 and not doing too well and so the kids were naturally thinking about what to do with all his trains. As it turns out, he too passed away just 10 days ago. My teacher had told his daughter about me before. The daughter is going to take pictures of his collection (which is enormous) and as soon as they're ready, I'm going to see them. I have no idea what kind of trains these are. My teacher said that he bought many trains and never took them out of the box, so I'm thinking a lot will be newer stuff. Regardless of whether there's anything I want to buy or not, I'll give advice on how to go about selling the collection and just exactly what is is they have. The daughter doesn't know a thing about trains. It feels really good to be helping someone out like this. The relatives of a deceased collector having to sell off the trains is a situation that is becoming more and more frequent and is often a big problem for those who have to do it. I'm more than happy to assist. And hey, I might even get some trains out of this.

Tomorrow, my psychology class is going on a field trip to Regina to tour some rehab centres for teens who are on drugs, etc. It will certainly be an experience. I can say that.

Reached 94 again today but at least the humidity was only 43%, no matter still too hot to cut grass. They say a cold front is moving in for Friday, just in time for my day off. Yeah! I can spend it cutting grass.

On a better note. I did cut off the sleeve on the heating element in my Hudson Monday night and the smoke output is greatly improved. The sleeve had a pretty good char built up. My only concern is with this being a piston driven smoke unit, not fan, is there a greater potential for the element to burn out since the sleeve, supposidly, wicked fluid up to keep it moist.

ROGER nice pics you got there with the Steamer bet you had a ball.
CHIEF if it don't run throw it like ya did then CHOOK IT.
Have a good one.

Got all the trimmings gathered and piled. Then I shredded them with the chipper shredder. Use them to much the garden middles between the plants. About to get caught up on the work outside. Then it is trainroom time. [:D] Just got my Ranger Wear catalog. They have a Ranger bassboat and trailer in 1:43. Think that is close enough for O. Only $15. That will look good behind a Suburban [I need to find one] at a crossing. Picked up [came in USPS] a cheap MPC GP7 with the little can motors. I think I have stored somewhere a set of snap on brake blisters to make it GP9. I bet a Beep Commander will work in it. Next project and paint it black and NS decals. Later.

It got up into the low 90's here in NE Wisconsin Monday. Danged window AC unit ceased up. It just sat there growling and dimming the lights. I got so mad, I threw my beer at it. Dang it all! The beer dribbled all over the motor and loosened it up. She purrs like a kitten now.

Chief, I saw a posting on the OGR board about installing some boards on the GP-7/9's. Seemed like it was fairly easy.

Good Morning from NE Ohio

where the temp is 58 deg with light rain. This is the type of rain that is going to last most of the day. Great for the gardens. Just think, two days ago it was 78 deg at this time in the morning.

Chief must have started hammering some nails into his table.
BTW – nice thread on the upgrade

Taking the day off today to do some yard work. If I get the yard cut and the driveway edged I'll be happy - it's going to be another scorcher today!

After yrad work, go to the bank then rest a while. Toniight, I'm taking my two daughters out for dinner then shopping (this could get expensive!). First chance I've had to spend much time with them lately with everyone travleing so much. Wife and son arrived safely in NYC for week-long mission trip. Son will coach some basketball camps in Brooklyn, then run sound for sr. high choir. Wife is one of the chaperones. They'll be putting some miles on the subways this week!

Too hot to do any model railroad work down in the shop. I really need to install a window AC unit down there. Looking forward to fall and start of layout. I've got a few plans going - I'll probably stay small on this layout, either 4x8 or 5x9 since my schedule stays busy. I'd rather get a smaller layout going then get frustrated with a larger one.

Until later . . .

Moring all. Sunny and hot but the humidity is dropping. I know it will still bring that sweet tea out of me. Finished grinding all the trimmings yesterday PM. Wife came home as I finished. "Go to the shower, you are soaked!" Tee shirt I was wearing was still wet at midnight and it had been hanging since 5 PM. Better than piles of snow. [;)] Got to stake the tomato baskets today or they will trun over. Put down soaker hoses by the plants [better than spray irrigation]. No rain in sight but plants not hurting yet. Maybe mow. Hey, I need to go back to work to rest. [xx(] Got an idea. [^] Instead of Buckeye, Tom and Laz coming to build my layout. They can come and do my chores and I'll build the layout [its in AC]. [;)][:-^][:-^] Dr. John, another idea. Build the first one with a turnout switch or two leading to the edge. Later, add another table and so on. One day you will have the big empire. Have a good one and God bless all.

Morning gang,

Well the grass is cut for another week or so. Did that yesterday as it was fairly cool outdoors then. It was only in the 50's this morning. Boy that is nice for a change. I can't do much more with the layout right now. I am still waiting for my switches to get off back order. They are what is holding my layout work up. I do not want to do much more work until all the track is laid because I would just have to redo it later. Still trying to decide if I want to get the Keystone set or the Black Diamond. Decisions, decisions. Have a good one all.

morning all,

you know how you get these half funny half stupid emails from people who are email junkies? Well, this is one of them I thought might be nice to post regarding the rednecks of North Carolina and Alabama (bet you didn't know they've got rednecks up north as well).

You know you're a redneck if:

1. You take your dog for a walk and you both use the same tree.
2. You can entertain yourself for more than 15 minutes with a fly swatter.
3. Your boat has not left the driveway in 15 years.
4. You burn your yard rather than mow it.
5. You think the "Nutcracker" is something you do off the high dive.
6. The Salvation Army declines your furniture.
7. You offer to give someone the shirt off your back and they don't want it.
8. You have the local taxidermist on speed dial.
9. You come back from the dump with more than you took.
10. You keep a can of Raid on the kitchen table.
11. Your wife can climb a tree faster than your cat.
12. Your grandmother has "ammo" on her Christmas list.
13. You keep flea and tick soap in the shower.
14. You've been involved in a custody fight over a hunting dog.
15. You go to the stock car races and don't need a program.
16. You know how many bales of hay your car will hold.
17. You have a rag for a gas cap.
18. Your house doesn't have curtains, but your truck does.
19. You wonder how service stations keep their restrooms so clean.
20. You can spit without opening your mouth.
21. You consider your license plate personalized because your father made it.
22. Your lifetime goal is to own a fireworks stand.
23. You have a complete set of salad bowls and they all say "Cool Whip" on the side.
24. The biggest city you've ever been to is Wal-Mart.
25. Your working TV sits on top of your non-working TV.
26. You've used your ironing board as a buffet table.
27. A tornado hits your neighborhood and does a $100,000 worth of improvements.
28. You've used a toilet bru***o scratch your back.
29. You missed your 5th grade graduation because you were on jury duty.
30. You think fast food is hitting a deer at 65 mph.

Started another project. Stirped a GP7 shell to make it black and NS. Will probably install a Beep Commander in it. Time to rest and drink more sweet ice tea. With it seeming a bit cooler today, only reached 90, humidity down and a slight breeze, I spent a couple of hours cutting grass this afternoon. About an hour more to go, I'll finish it up in the morning.

Won a K-Line CB&Q 2 bay hopper on e-bay last night, should get it some time next week. I have to try to control buying anymore hoppers, if I make up a train with all I have the caboose is just getting into the tunnel when the engins are coming out, the tunnel is about 18' long.
