Hi guys,
It's hot in Holland, over 30 degrees celsius.. The train room is on the attic, so no place to be working right now. I made a small car behind my bicycle so that the doggies can sit in the back and come with us. In the beginning they looked a bit scared, but after a few miles they sat down and enjoyed the ride.
I also got a message that I was invited to a major modeltrain show in september to show the trains I collect. The webpage has got me into contact with a lot of people all over the world, and a lot of them even in Holland. They are interested and I hope to get more people into the big scale hobby on that show..
I also planned a small trip to switserland in a few weeks to visit my family over there and climb the mountains a bit..

Jerry, second hand cars always swallow money the first few weeks you have them. They always have hidden problems and you make a lot of effort to get it right. But after your work you have a nice looking and reliable car, and that's worth something too..

Have a nice day all and stay safe!

Good Afternoon, Everyone!

Those are some awesome car pictures, Tom!

Interesting learning about the Batmobile from you guys. Has anyone seen what the one in the new movie looks like? Jeez, that thing's ugly! Definetly no match for the streamlined good looks of the past.

Dave, Congratulations on the possible job! I hope you get it! Senior editor of Model Railroader? Wow!

Jerry, Good luck on your truck and your layout! Be glad that you have so many things to do that you enjoy.

Right now it's very warm and sunny in Saskatchewan. But don't let that fool you! Things on the prairies are anything but good right now! Alberta is having severe flooding. Calgary and Red Deer are in states of emergency and have evacuated many people. The water is going down in Calgary, but there are still major water-use restrictions. Edmonton is preparing for flooding any minute today and have been doing everything they can to prepare. It's the same situation in Drumheller. They say that floding like this never occurs more than once in 100 years. We got lots of rain here last week and Melville (a 45 minute drive from where I live) got hit that hardest. They had terrible flooding and were in a state of emergency. On July 2, I'm going to Edmonton to catch The Canadian, so hopefully things will be back to normal in the city by then.

I've just finished regular high school classes for good! Only thing I have to do now is write two exams. In a week, I'll be done everything, except for picking up my report card. This coming week won't be able to go by fast enough!

dougdagrump I mentioned that to her to going thru the whole house (70' X 14' Mobile home) and she said lets do this room 1st then we'll think about it so I guess there is always a little hope lol. Acually she like my trains. She keeps asking when I'm going to run my big steamer 671 with 2671W tender. ( I don't have any O-72 track to run it correct have run it on some straight but basicly got it to go in my show case not as a runner lol.

Been cutting wheat all day and running it to the grainery for my boss. He's a great guy but just to old to do it (94) and still gets around good. His son runs the propane company side of it.

Going to miss him when his time comes. Been with him almosrt 3 years now.

Well, cleaned up the fence line between me and neighbor [my chain link but his side]. Drug it all to the street so town can pick up tomorrow. Got another NS diesel today. Came from OGR Buy and Sale Board. Dash 9 and looks new. Runs great and sounds loud. Think it needs the old smoke unit mod. Off to Kerr Lake for some fishing early tomorrow AM. Will be gone all day [not staying over as usual]. Now for my nightly micro wave popcorn. [:D]

The mailman dropped off my new woodworking toy, a mortising attachment for my drill press. I made some changes to the original cradle plans for my september grandson. [^] Now if they would only ship the new chuck for the drill press then I'd be "fat n happy".
Chief, I've bought some MTH rolling stock off that board and so far have been extremely pleased with the results, much better than E-Bay.

Doug: On OGR, I've bought 2 NS SD80's, a NS SD60 and now this NS Dash 9. All been top notch and lots of $$$$ cheaper than new ones. I also got a MPC GP7 I'm redoing into NS GP9 and probably put in a Beep Commander. I've got a MTH CN SD70 but had to send it back for some repairs. Seems the USPS slammed it so hard it messed up one of the motors. Guy is fixing it and shipping it back [no cost to me]. Also bought some rolling stock and always good. Got a 3 sets [double flats] of CN husky stacks at half the cost of new. If you see a guy that goes by Charger selling anything, he is top notch. Has become a friend of mine. Off to bed. Got to get up early to go to Kerr Lake. [:D] Gooood night and God bless.

Good Morning All from NE Ohio

where the temp is 68 with Blue Clear Sky’s.

You got to love this forum, look at all we learned about Batmobiles. I am sure the one in Willoughby was made from a Kit. Sure looked like the Corgi diecast ones.

Chief – good luck on fishing

RT – which 671 do you have [?] I have an old Lionel and it runs on 027.

Jerry – if you want to have some fun, replace the 318 with a 440 six pack or 426 Hemi.

Jon – Great looking trolley, I remember when Cleveland had those types running on there transit lines.

Pick of the Day

all be safe

Morning all,

I was going thru some old pictures and came across one I hadn't posted regarding my previous layout.

I'm posting it here b/c someone asked me about how to make asphalt roads and I commented some time ago about putting down sand, fixing with "wet" water and then painting w/hi gloss paint. In this photo you can see the road a bit better.

If you don't know what wet water is, just ask.

My asphalt roads are painted with flat black paint and I used pin striping for the lines.

Morning Guys,
Looks like summer is back in NE Ohio. Busy evening last night. Went and swam laps after work then came home and cut the grass. By then it was time to call it a night.
For black top roads I use this rubber that they line trailers with when they hall spools of paper. Its about an 1/8th of an inch thick and about 3 ft wide by various lenghts. If you have a paper/cardboard box factory near by see if they will let you take some. All they do with it is pitch it after unloading the truck. I also used this in place of homosote on one of my tables. I'll post some photos when I get home from work.

Good morning,

Chief, I hope you catch lots of fish.

We finally got some much needed rain this morning. We woke up to thunder and lightening. It looks like it could rain off and on all day. One minute the sun is out then the next it is raining cats and dogs. Good thing I cut the grass yesterday. Since it is raining I guess I will go and play with trains.

Thanks for the pics and comments about roads. I have been trying to find a source for Moon Dog products, a company that made O scale road sections from rubber. I saw them used on a friend's layout and was very impressed. Unfortunately, the company went out of business a while back. Bob, the liner you mentioned sounds similar.

Hoping and praying for a little rain down our way. 30% chance today.

Have a good day, everyone!

We need rain too - grass going dormant already - unlike my neighbors, I don't water it.

It will run on O-27 if your careful but does jump if you go too fast across the curve sections of switches and some curves if not right I've always been told they were built to run on wide radius track. Still I rather not run it that much I like the way it looks with all those
PA. passenger cars behind it accuallly 2 PA. choclate brown boxcars and 7 Passenger cars (16000 series) I know post war with new stuff oh well my main intrest thou is prewar so .

I have the 671 not R or RR I have the 2671W tender with it also.

Dave,
On second thought BB probably wouldn't do well as lead dog on a dog sled team. She'd be leading the team off track to chase rabbits and you'd never make it to work. [:D]
I remember some earlier posts regarding spyware/adware blocking programs, please refresh my memory. We started getting bombarded this morning. [:(!] [censored] [censored] [censored]

Doug,

I still get adware or spyware or whatever it's called, even after following all of the steps, but MUCH less than before.

1. There are several free spyware programs. I can't recall what they are called, that remove stuff. One is adaware or something.

2. I use Modzilla instead of Explorer

3. I cleaned out "history" and decreased history time

4. did thorough cleaning of all cookies and defragged and did everything else humanly possible.

5. Never click on any "free" offers, even if it is free to remove spyware or clean up your computer b/c they want to trick you

-------------------

You wouldn't have been able to recognize BB after chasing rabbits thru a swamp for 3 hours last night. She somehow got covered with black, oozy mud. Had to use the garden hose.

Here's a couple of pics of my road made from the rubber I was talking about earlier today.

This is the table I'm adding to the layout covered with the rubber instead of homosote.

I have AOL and have had good luck with the Spyzapper and the pop-up blocker that they provide. Evidently they also keep a pretty good watch for viruses, the McAffee virus protection is sending updates at least once a week.

Hope I just didn't jinx myself.

Evening guys. Fishing this PM was slow. His bassboat battery was dead when we got there. He does not have a Pro Mariner Charger. [;)] So, I helped get his pontoon boat running, launched for the summer [he has private dock so it stays in the water all summer] and took a ride. Bassboat went out this afternoon in the sun and heat. Now time for my microwave popcorn. Some good pictures above. Later

We had some small rain showers come in off the lake last night, good for the grass and garden.

ZWbob – nice pics

Doug – download Ad-Aware, free off the internet. It is great for removing spy-ware.

Yes, it was my older brothers, so it has been in the family from day 1. Here is the whole set. BTW - I still have the boxes too.
