See Doug...that's the difference. It is 72 F @ 2:15 p.m. CST (same time as Chicago) and all the rich ladies in town are bundled up in their minks, sables, nutrias, silver fox's, etc. complaining that a COLD FRONT is on the way...! I have a hunch even Chiefie will put on his rabbit fur lined longjohns when it gets cold in Rollyville...I don't think this one will miss him...

I want to move to Taxes (that's how my friends from that fair land seem to pronounce it) or Rolesvilly - I heard Amtrak's CZ hit a truck-sized boulder on the UP in Colorado today - that is suscipiously close to Taxes - you didn't have anything to do with it, did you, Jim?

The lovely hat I have , I bought when I lived in Texass, and used It one winter working in Olympia Wa. Have I told you it rains a lot in th Portland to Seattle area? It was a lifesaver in the winter of 1998.Kept the big drops from going down the neck.. brrrrrrrrr.
Warmed up to 28 this pm, expecting an arctic blast tomorrow. Got to go put liquid heat in the fuel tanks and plug in the tractor heater. Took the day off today. Some people have comp time, or sick days, but being self employed I have to come up with something really creative, so I told my wife today is a " I'm just sick of working and want to sit on my butt and play with trains day" Got to go run the Amtrak Genisis and the F7's for a while...............Idaho Tim

Afternoon, folks,
It's been a couple of days since I posted. It's amazing how much school and homework can wear you out in the middle of the week.

It's 67 and about ready to rain here. The Ohio River at Louisville is flooding as a result of the rain that we've had the past couple of days. To top it all off, though, we're supposed to get snow over the weekend, with a low of 8 on Saturday. The temperature's going to start falling tomorrow, andf keep cold for all of next week. Crazy weather is all I can say.

Hope that you all are well.

Good evening all, I am on early tonight. Got a better off later from the misses, so after a short howdy to all my cold, wet, and snowed in brethern its of to another fun night, this time without trains !

Ben welcome back, you think homework is hard not wait til later. I still remember 6-10 hours of homework for college, even on the days I didn't go to school. And after working 12 hours days, I wish I had homework. But that is now, back then I hated it like you do now. Just ace it, if you have to do it anyways, might as well get A's. Same work, but looks better to colleges and work places.

Chief sorry bout the fishing, even the deep end dried out. Guess when you build a city in the desert, it doesn't take long to dry out. Still have some mud, but by tomorrow that should dry out.
Also glad you said PEtim as its awful tough hunting here in San Diego. We do have some road hogs, but everything else is Illegal, or soon will be ! (Get it, road hogs ?)

Laz, stay warm buddy. We had a perfect day today, so I'll try and push some sun your way. T shirt weather today til 3pm then it dropped into the upper 50s.

Buckeye stay dry, at least our lakes were low, so no overflow dams.

Did any of you see the HUGE boulder that fell on the highway out here. They had to dynamite it so they could open the road back up. They said it was 24 feet across.

Tom, I'll check out shutterfly. Thanks for the tip.

Take care all, Have a great evening. I know I will.

Tim, it isn't a sport when you can collect the fish from the dried up seabed..
The heavy storm is over. We have now a very mild 65 degrees daytime with sunshine, but forecasts are getting colder. It's about time; it's January!!
normally the heating system runs through-out the day continuously, but now it only fires up at nights and in the morning.. I like the warm tiles (we have floor heating) and now that doesn't get hot during the day..
But that are only luxury problems. It keeps the gaz bill low and leave more money for trains..
Have a good day all..

Good morning. Staying up instad of going back to bed. Off to Dr. later this AM. Think I'll watch TV and drink coffee for a few minutes. OH, rainy and 62 degrees. Going to 70's. They say some cold stuff headed this way but dry. Not going to have the frigid cold they thought we would have had earlier. That is going to stay up in YANKEE LAND] [:D] Getting together with some former workers at the Crazy Fire [Mongolian stir fry]. Usually did that about twice a month. Have not been able to get to town during lunch hour until now. Driving makes me a little sore. Got an email this AM from Toy Trains Unlimited. Got some NS diesels at good price. I need some non-powered [dummies] to pull around with all these powered units. So much stronger than the old MPC single motors. Never done business with them. You know you can not trust Texans [right Jimbo?]. [;)] Off to get my coffee. Have a good one and God bless all.

Good Morning All,

NE Ohio still has REBAL weather, temp at 65, SW wind at 18 with gust up to 50mph and rain with falling temp coming.

Many areas around and near our rivers are flooded from all the rain and melting snow we have had.

Buckeye – glad to here you back home and playing with the trains.

Chief – I think there may be more members from the Buckeye state on our forum than any other state. BE Careful – I know where you live.

According to the new U.S. Dietary Guidelines issued this week by the U.S. Government "Experts", 90 minutes of exercise is good and 2 beers daily (1 for the pretty sex).

No wonder I feel so good every day.

Now, perhaps 5 years hence, the newer and more improved guidelines will read: 2 hours of daily exercise supplemented by 3 beers.

But I'm already working on those future guidelines.

Chief,

She's dreaming of rabbits. Counts them in her head to go to sleep even. She's been talking to the parrots as well (love birds), trying to share in their seed meals. Gonna take her out to the woods to chase swampers (rabbits) Sat Sun & Mon (a holiday for me).

She gets bored with my train construction projects. It's bunnies that interest her. Bunnies bunnies bunnies.

BTW, she likes ducks too. I took her to a dog park in another housing area and she quickly grew bored. Instead, she was eyeing the ducks in the nearby lake. I let her out of the dog park (she told me never to take her there again), and went straight for the ducks, about 20 yards out in the water. She actually jumped in the cold lake to chase the ducks, which surprised me. She went about 1 yard and made a quick U turn, realizing that the water is not too clement.

Chief--

I don't want to hear ANYMORE about your warm weather (hot air), especially today or tomorrow.

You know your driveway is slippery when you're truck is in 4 wheel drive with 500# of sand in the back and I had to make two runs at it to get up to the house. Granted our drive is a bit steep and has at least 1-2" of ice on it. I've just had my 2nd cup of coffee and now I'm going to get my Carhartt's on and go attack the beast with lots of sand[8D]

While I was gone to get the sand the temp dropped 8 degrees, the wind came up and we are headed for the BIG CHILL tonight. Oh well, nobody forces me to live here and we like it most of the time[soapbox][8D]

We built the house for my sis and brother in law. They have it on 3.5 acres of land and out there back door they can see Mt. Palomar where they have the observatory. Been up there to check out the telescope real neat place. They live on top of a hill next to a country club.

Ridiculous - remember yesterday it was 60 - had a huge thunderstorm last evening - tremendous rain and lightning. Now it's snowing and due to drop another 20 degrees. Good excuse to stay indoors - oh, but I can't.... Inspired by Jon, I 'hung' a small bi-plane and Zeppelin model above the layout with thread last evening. It is hard to tie thread around a convenient pipe while also holding aloft the model. I need 4 arms.

Guys, don't fret. It is only 77 degrees here at 3:00 PM. Broke the record. [:D] Got some wind so I bet some of that Ohio cold is trying to sneak in here. Surgeon released me. Jon, glad it is you and not me. [:D] Went by the high $$$ train store. They had dumped their MTH stuff months ago [1/2 price]. Said they were not handling them anymore. Guess they paid Mike their bill. [;)] MTH stuff going back on shelves. Asked if they were handling MTH again. "Yes, we have big order in." Their stock of K-Line was down and not as much Lionel either. At their prices [MSRP], I can not see how they sold a lot during Christmas. Maybe due to being in high income area and folks not knowing any better. No answer about trains unlimited. Got a nice returned email from a guy there saying they had the NS dummy in stock. Great prices. LAZ, are you doing NS? Need to go walk.
