Don – I believe you are right about Spanky starting the SPF.  I can’t remember when SPF started but I look forward to it.  My crazy schedule has me awake early Sunday mornings most of the time and I love to share pictures so if not already started, I start it.  I do not to leave the impression I have a monopoly on starting the thread.

Jim, Please continue with the SPF, I enjoy your pictures, its always great getting new ideas and seeing what other folks are working on.  I hope no one thought that I was suggesting anything else.  It is ONE of the highlights of the week.  And what I enjoy best is, the range of photos.  I enjoy someone just showing benchwork progress, all the way to the publication quality, photogenic detailed scene, and restored items.  As an example Frank53, Spanky, and others have shown benchwork all the way to fully developed scenes.  What a great hobby.  And, I ALWAYS learn something.  So keep it up!  We need more participants, especially all those folks that don't feel their pictures are worthy or are embarrassed. Everyone has something to share.

Good Morning

Tardis ride was good last nite but I only get to drive when Brutus is out of town. He doesn't like the loop-de-loops. Bright sun and 29 with no plans for the day, ready for outside weather. I'll meander for now, drop back later..S.J.

Good Mornin, Ya'll,

I promised myself I would give my abandoned interest in NASCAR another shot with yesterday's Daytona.  Race shortened by rain didn't bother me, it goes with the territory.  Kenseth impressed, but the jury is still out in my mind.  Is it me, or do the announcers spend too little time talking about the cars, the manufacturers' competition, and the technology?  It all still seems too vanilla, and any competitive edge is countered with an eqaulizer of some sort.  Also, I wish I could determine when "aggressive driving" like bumping is an infraction and when they just let the boys run.

Wife and I can't seem to get on the same page with what to watch on TV.  I wind up snoozing or watch something else in another room.  Can't seem to get her interested in sports, the Military Channel, or the History Chanel.  You should see how fast on the trigger finger she is skipping past that channels I like!

I'm SPF addicted.  After church and my grandchild visits, you guys make Sundays something to eagerly anticipate.  Thank you!  This weeks's spoofs were the best.

Brutus......thanks for remembereing me last night.  It was cold standing out there waiting for the Tardis, must have been behind schedule.  I forgot you had to pick up Patrick.  Drank half the beer before you guyz arrived.  Got a little crowded in Tardis with Patrick's lifestock too, especially the one that got motion sickness.  Hope your better half is feeling good enough to go shopping.  Mine would have to be in a coma to skip a shopping trip.

Kurt and Laz.....SOKOL.  The fond memories of when my kids were young in Chicago.  Got some great 25 year old pictures of the gymnastics.  Good folks, always good food at the functions, and irreplaceable family time together.

Don......I think you should do an investigative report on the neighbor's pole activities and report back to us.  Don't forget to take pictures.

Dennis.....shortly after DougM and I got calls from the Chief, men in dark suits, sunglasses, and black SUVs were seen lurking around our homes.  Think my phone is being tapped.  The Feds are getting aggressive investigating the train wreck.  Hope your back issue straightens itself out.  Mine has been with me since high school.  Probably can be attributed to an overly robust youth when we felt indestructible.  Mine always acts up for no apparent reason, never after moving furniture or heavy lifting.

njalb......loved the pic.  What a hoot!  The only thing missing from a MA perspective was the paid detail of MA law enforcement.  I think we are the only state in the Union that doesn't use flagmen.  I can picture Fife setting up a perimeter of pink flamingos around the work site.

MikeC.....old age and guile will beat youth and speed every time!  Keep showing those whippersnappers a thing or two!  I never got tired of playing tennis against the younger, singles or doubles, outside or in.....until the advice of my orthopedic surgeon and the prospect of a fourth knee surgery forced me to take up less demanding forms of exercise and entertainment.

Have a good day everyone.

 Brutus,

You are a smart man.  I never know whether I like something for the home until I check with the wife.

My wife's family makes fun of colored lights on Xmas trees-I got to her family's house for the holidays and COLORED lights are on the trees.  How do they explain it?  Colored lights were "in" this year.  Good grief.  At least my wife likes colored lights on trees and ignores her goofy family 99% of the time and their weird ideas of taste.

Afternoon Fellas (well almost)

Had a nice relaxing weekend with SusieQ. On Friday we headed West to Grantsville, MD (about 15 miles west of Cumberland). Stayed in a very nice Bed & Breakfast with some wonderful hosts, and some very hearty meals. Saturday was spent mostly driving through the mountains to Thomas, WV - we wanted to go to a pottery shop but it was a waste of time, then headed back up US219 toward PA. Stopped at a couple shops but didn't spend too much $$$. Stopped at Deep Creak Cellars (winery) and bought a case for the wine cellar. Then up into PA along US40. Was really nice to just spend time with Susan and not really have any plans. It started snowing in the afternoon and didn't stop till after mid-night. Didn't keep us from getting home yesterday. Thanks to all the fellas who wished us a 'snow-in'. Smile

Will chat more later.

OLD TIMER,

Yes it is a Christmas Eve tradition with the Slavic people.  It signifies the bitterness of life.  The first course of the meal is Oplatky dipped in honey to signify the sweetness in life.  Then the sauerkraut soup, which is made out of Sauerkraut juice and mushrooms and onions.  Very bitter, not too bad, it really cleans you out.  Follwed by the rest of the meal of fish, pierogies, bolbalky, and finished off with kolatchy.  Which is a rolled cokie with either peanutbutter, prune, orwalnut filling.  That has been our Christmas Eve dinner for 52 years.  Now you know the rest of the story.

Lionroar,

Rt 40 through Laurel Highlands is awesome.  Take the wife to Nemacolin resort for lunch or the Summit Inn sometime.  Frank LLoyd Wright's Falling Water home is right there, too.

Laz, you're a "Hunkie" like me.  Cabbage rolls, Nut rolls, Kielbassa, pirohi...that's my dad's side of the family's version of soul food.

I wish I could to. Did you see Sat. race where #38 was fined 5 laps for doing the very same thing Dale Jr. did Sun.? Maybe it depends on who you are or how popular you are. Personally, I say let um run. Approve

Cool and partly cloudy.  Moving slow but got to get going for County Commissioners this afternoon.  Mayors' Assoc meeting tonight.  Means free steak. Hope all have a great week.  Later and God bless.

Afternoon all

Cleaned up the house after the kiddos, did up some laundry burned a brush pile and took some pics for SPF, now for nap before work.

Don – Don’t worry, I am hopelessly addicted to SPF, I just did not want to make anyone think they should or need to wait on me to start the SPF, that’s all.

Fife – The horse shot was priceless

Kurt & Laz – ever have sauerkraut on pizza?  We even dress up a frozen pizza with it!

Patrick – whenever I see a flamingo I think of Fife, I try to put at least one flamingo in every SPF.

Well nap time, check back in tonight when Don & I are the only ones up

May God bless

Jim

Good afternoon - almost quittin' time!!

Whatta weekend!! News is not good from the LTS, Dave is alive but there have been some life changing events and safe to say he'll make it, just may have to make an adjustment.  The whispers of the store closing came up again, I expressed running it for the duration, being open at night, but we'll see.  I was there until after 6 Saturday night.  I have to do my real job Saturday, so no train store this Saturday.  Was going to take off the 28th for Bike Week, but I think this is more important.  Maybe Sunday or Tuesday.  I'm going to try to visit Dave tonight, even though he still in a medical coma.

Went to dinner after dropping the Princess off at a friends house.  Had a nice Italian dinner, went for coffee and picked up the Princess at 10:30.  Went to bed after midnight.

Sunday went to the International Car & Truck show down town (prior to the 500, er 422) saw some of the new stuff (wish I had the cash for a Challenger R/T) came home cleaned the house and the train room.  Listened to the Devils game had the sound off of the TV for Daytona.  (BTW, hit the 500 pool when Kenseth was declared the winner...!)  Made leftovers for dinner and cleaned up the kitchen after.  A little time for myself and was reclinerized!!  Hit the bed about 10 ish.

I stole the keys to the Tardis, brought into the shop using the the remote scanalyzer and nuclear ion tracker.  Found the right side trans warp induction coil malfunctioning, so using my 3/8th metric spanner wrench and a small 10lb sledge, removed the offending coil and replaced it with a newer updated trans warp induction coil and laser guided intergalactic stabilizer.  The inclusion of the Mr Fusion Boiler/Broiler/MatterScatter-er helped.  The flux capacitor was also interferring with the left side Johnson Rod and it needed some relative bearing grease to make it right.  A quick trip to the 23rd Century and consult with the factory rep (a gentleman with strange ears named Spock) verified the repairs and we should be good to go.  If you could pick me up last, that would be great, I'll have to find some goodies for us to snack on.

 See ya later!

Rich

Also may need some help on removing from plastic the writing Lionel put there as now it Say's Dodge and the dodge emblem . I have 2, 1963 and 2, 1957 corvettes on the car now lol

Guess the metal shouldn't be that hard but Leary of the plastic as don't want to melt it lol.

Good Afternoon everyone!  Brent, glad you and Susie Q had a good time away....you both deserve it as I know you've had a lot going on this past year.

Rich, all this talk about good Italian food is getting me hungry!  The only way we have good Italian around here is if I make it myself.  I am good with meals and cakes/pies, but fall short when it comes to pastries.  We had a place called "Hackensack Pastry Shop" right across the street from Engine 2.  They have the best canoli anywhere.  We used to get a box and eat all day on them things.  Also, was thinking of Jersey last night as I was downloading some music from "Eddie and the Cruisers"...can make one homesick.  Anyway, sorry to hear that he is still being kept in a coma.  I'll email you.

Don, I'm not too worried about being caught up in the same company as the Chief.  Just have to watch any future trips to the other side of the Mason Dixon line, and any packages coming from that way.  I only get North about once or twice a year...hey, wait a minute, you may be right.  I may want to stay clear after all.....Dead

Well, I have to get going.  Was going to leave earlier, but glad I didn't as we had an emergency case from the cath lab.  Not a operative candidate, but still had to intervene.  Will check later.  Hope everyone has a blessed week ahead.

Dennis

I didn't see Chief on the Tardis. Is there a reason for that?

Patrick....The guys in charge of the TARDIS have good taste plus they don't want the seats soiled due to his constant consumption of grits, popcorn, ground hog and sweet tea.

Sturgeon-Phish
Don – I believe you are right about Spanky starting the SPF.

Yes, almost five years ago Spankybird, aka Tom, started the Sunday Photo Fun.  He has contributed hundreds of photos to the forum over the years for every one's enjoyment.  Every once in a while you can see the Circus Trains on the layout.  Years ago, one of his photos indicated that he had black smoke rolling out of a steamer.  You should have seen the questions that hit the forum.  For some unknown reason, there is a couple of people who seem to not enjoy the SPF and rate it accordingly.  Just like the TV, they don't have to watch.

Sturgeon-Phish
Najlb1 – Strange, that car looks a little different.

Najlb1 that is a decent job, but just wait until the graphics arts department of OTTS gets their hands on the .........I better say nothing more. Mischief

BTW, I heard the Chief is planning to attend York.  Glad I'm not going this time.  I'll wait until it gets cold in October.  Keeps the rift raft at home.

Good Evening

Lots of chit-chat on here today. As for the Chief not being on the Tardis, us yanks won't go down there after dark to get him. If I want to get shot at all I need to do is drive into Detroit. Spent some time on the phone with Brutus and Charlie today, we talked trains, drywall mud, more trains, but I did not run any. I got bored and turned on the tv  found an all day run  on the Si Fi channel of "Dead Like Me" hasn't been on for about a year so I really enjoyed seeing the shows. Well Banilla is waiting so Brutus fire up the thingy and lets go...S.J.

Evenin' All.

Whew what a day ! Got home about 2 in the afternoon and have just kinda veged out since then. Alarm clocks at 4 am are the pits, made it to the museum at 6 and from there on out it was semi-controled chaos.

Charlie, Love the lava lamp, a shame one hasn't been done as an "aquarium car". Maybe someone will figure out how to do it sometime. Hhmmm, what about a "snowglobe car" with a track powered impeller to keep the snow/sparklies moving.

Chief, If fife pulls flamingoes out of his trunk instead of flares how & where does he light them. Shock

SJ & Buckeye Laugh  Yeah, we had to fill in some holes in the bottom of the Tardis last time we tried to pick up the Chief, so now we just buzz his Lake House and toss out the empties!  Pirate

Had nice talks and email chats with Kurt, Sir James and RT today.  Ran around looking for a metal brake.  Found one, but it was 36 inches wide - way too much for my project(s).  Found a smaller 18 inch model on Micro Mark I think I'll order when I get my next allowance.  Wife stayed home with sick daughter while my son and I were running around.  I think I'll be off work tomorrow, since my wife was off a lot last week.  No trains today, except that I watched an old English movie, The Ghost Train, that had a few good scenes and some good jokes as well as some real groaners.

Danrunner - thanks for the compliment Wink  We tried having me give her model numbers on the phone so she could look on the computer, but apparently the stores don't have the same stuff that is on the internet, so we gave up and will try another day.

In GOOD news, I found out that I'm going to be an uncle Again!  My baby sister who just got married last September is pregnant Big Smile  That'll be the 11th grandchild for my folks Thumbs Up  They are out of state in Des Moines, so I expect there will be a lot of long visits from my Mom!

Okay, the Tardis is ready and sounds like Rich did a great job - wow!  I didn't know it was in such bad shape, but that might explain the Loop-De-Loops, so Sir James can drive again tonight!  Rich, Kurt, RT, Doug, Mike, Dennis, Jack, Patrick, Charlie, Dan and all the others, we'll be along to pick you up soon!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Evening All !  I'm a little ticked.

Rant --- This morning I saw 3 different threads from a guy in Nevada, one was related to a layout in his living room, another a slide show, and the third a link to a TTOS club in Boulder City, NV.  I only had time to look at the first video.  It was really well done, and an excellant layout.  Of course it was a bit unusual for it to be in the living room.  But, it certainly was well done.  As we know if you put stars on something it usually causes additional review and even comments.  Just because of a rating.  Now what I don't understand, is WHY someone would go give a LOW star rating to a thread that only contained a guys personal layout.  I know someone enjoys downrating the SPF and Pot.  But, that doesn't really matter, because those that enjoy those threads don't even pay much attention to the ratings, and they don't matter anyway.  IMO the whole star system could just be dropped and it would not be any loss at all. SoapBox

Speaking of interesting threads, Marty E., put up a real interesting one regarding handheld remotes for the Legacy.  Chief will find it amazing!

Our trip to the Kodak theatre got cancelled due to security provisions that heighten on a daily basis, we waited too long.  But we decided to make the trip anyway, and go to a Train Shop in Burbank.  Bought 1 car, a Wonder Bread/Hostess Cake hopper car. Came home and ran trains for ahile and "No Pile Ups".  Really impressed with the MTH AC4400, had 16 scale cars.  Of course Chris decides that there is $1k engine, that he thinks HE really need.  So told him to just pull out his money and buy it.  Unfortunately he didn't.  LOL

Understand the Chief is going to make a surprise attack on Pennsylvania !!!

Good luck y'all.

Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow.

Good Night

Don

Don, I agree the stars add little and if someone uses them to belittle another person it is a shame and I pray for the person who would do that, that they would become more Christ - like in their actions.

Don I don't even look at stars anymore as I honestly believe a lot of the time the low rating is by accident and wish they would do them away as most times they don't give accurate reading of the post in question.

 Morning folks.

Just stopping in to say hello.  Had a nice three day weekend.  Watched the race on Sunday. Yesterday the Mrs. and I went shopping and then out for a belated Valentine's dinner (avoided the crowds).  We went to a little hole in the wall seafood joint in Frederick, MD.  Had some of the best fried oysters that I've had in a long while.  Almost as good as my Momma makes.  Back to work today, no kiddos, as it is a professional day for teachers.  Between holidays, weather closings and professional days it seems that schools have closed for students more than they are open.  This is the last of the holidays/days off until Easter break unless Mother Nature has other thoughts.

Well breakfast is ready.  Oatmeal with a handful of pecans and some hot coffee.

Have a gret day.

Mitch

HI GYZ,

18 here to get to 38?  Sloppy weather tomorrow into Thurs?

Well I got 2 right hand, and 2 left hand, K-line switches yesterday.  Got them just down the road from me about 18 miles away.  A GUY, who runs a small train shop out of his house had them.  I use  to go there about 5 years ago, and just remembered he had lots of K-line stuff.  Called and he had a few left, got them for$32 each.  I Installed them and they work GREAT!  No Problems with my new CNW S2 Switcher with Legacy.

DAN, great to see some HUNKS on DA FORUM.

STURGE PHISH, nice plane and layout looks great.

Stay Frosty,
