My Dad's recipe to cure a cold.
One bottle of Jack Daniels, a top hat, and a bed with two posts by the head of the bed. Hat on the post, swig of Jack Daniels, hat on the head, another swig of JD, hat on other post, another swig, hat on head, hat back on original post, repeat until you try to put the Jack Daniles on the post and drink from the hat. The cold may not be cured but you won't know the difference!!!!!!

Man, wait'll our New Jerseyites weigh in on the Boss. I grew up listening to him. Feel sorry for the camera guy he slid across the stage into... my living room is full of women talking loudly about ... stuff other than the game. I am watching on a tiny TV. LOL.

Yep !!!!!!!!....Achy Breaky Heart was the last good one.

The Boss may be getting up there but that was BY FAR one of the best half time shows in years. At least we didn't have to watch Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson, ugg. Or some stupid rap guy grabbing his crotch. I guess I'm partial to music that has a melody and energy.

I agree. Bud commercials are the best.
ChiefEagles Want the real story on RT and his back. Seems he slipped chasing some cutie nurse around the hospital grounds. He thought he could catch her as she weighed only 350 lbs. He can never catch her. Just like a Yankee. Trying to catch something too fast.

Hi to (in no particular order) Frank, Frank, George, Doug, Doug, Jim, Jim, Jim, Bill, Don, Greg, Charles, John, John, John, (there might be another Jim and John, I lost track), Brent, Bruce, Nick (other english - no posts in a LONG time), Wes, Daan (another missing brother), Jon, Dr. John, Kurt, Jack, Dennis, other Bruce, Roger (no posts in a long time), Kevin (no posts in a long time), Lee, Rich, Mitch, Mike, Colin, Grayson, Patrick, Fred, Njalb, EDW (Where's my check?), Keith, David L., Lee (doesn't like the magic tardis), and Misty, Lisa, Pat and of course Mrs. Calabash. I'm absolutely certain I forgot many people and will kick myself later when I remember you, so I beg forgiveness in advance.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
HO HO HO. Santa is not here. Watched a good movie through the Super Bowl and also gave Lucy a walk. Then took a reclinerize. SPman, you moved to the west coast so you are the one who has punished yourself by no Eastern NC Bar-be-que. Actually mention of that on a thread on OGR yesterday. Need to add some corn sticks [not hushpuppies] and brunswick stew. Good gracious. It was in the 60's today. Pam and I walked Lucy in our shirt sleeves. Park was full of mom's, kids and dogs. New neighbors [mom and kids] were there. They moved in where Brad [Tarzan] lived. I had met dad. Recognized the kids from seeing them. Walked up and introduced myself. Mom is real nice. Now to wind clocks [a Sunday thing] and call Mom. Congrats to Wes and Doug M. Want the real story on RT and his back. Seems he slipped chasing some cutie nurse around the hospital grounds. He thought he could catch her as she weighed only 350 lbs. He can never catch her. Just like a Yankee. Trying to catch something too fast. Rich, seems that Harley sould have a warranty on it. You and Princess hang in there. Walked out and it seemed real dark. The other neighbor's area light out back is out. Dinner time.
PS: hey up there in the Northwoods. MN produces the great Prairie Home Compainion. That is pretty good to me. WI produces lakes with good eating walleye. Got a buddy that helps with Pro Mariner [like me] that guides up there.
Based upon what I have seen so far. WORST commercials in SB history.

Wow, when did I get 5,000 posts.... Hey, RT!Oh boy do I have a huge cold - Need to find Jack's hot toddy recipe or was that Laz'?
RT we're on page 54 of your 54th BDAY, coincidence? WOW!
Jack
Back is fine in fact went to work Friday. It was still a little sore but better. Basicly thursday I just didn't feel I was up to pushing and pulling those carts after my slip. What happened was I got out of my truck went to passenger side and got a couple things out turned and slipped on the mud/grass under my feet. Didn't have the best shoes on in fact there kinda slick underneath and almost slipped at work and made comment at work I need to stop wearing these. Well They went out in the trash yesterday.
Shopping trip a huge success, got out ONLY $56 lighter....
Jack, as for the Harley saga, it sat at the dealership for exactly 2 months, couldn't duplicate the no start condition, delivered it to me, after talking to everyone up to the general manager. No can fix, it runs, can't take it back, I'm in too deep and on and on.
I rode it twice as I was outta town and it's been too cold to take the Princess to school in the morning (0500 is too early for her on a two wheeler). Bike week in a month, I should be there and will give a full and DETAILED report (Jon in IOWAY knows of what I speak...). Hope to either 1) have no issues or 2) have a new(er) bike.
The Princess and I have a GREAT time with the family in NJ for the hoilidays and we've decided that we're going back for Christmas '09. I'll be sending her to her Grandparents for the summer, no stress for her and almost none for me.
TIme to clean the train room, start dinner at 4:30, so I'll check in later.....
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
I'm here Rock! I use my Blackberry phone to read all of the pot posts, but it's harder to post something...
Oh, and I didn't get any hoopla for passing 1000 posts a while ago either...but you and I both survived, right!
I have been looking at houses again. In a real estate crunch like this, there are some good deals to be had, that's for sure...it'shard to look for a house that you are going to spend the next 20 years in though.
Wes
Patrick......if there is a clique on this Forum, it's pretty large. Read on.
OK you guys. If there isn't preferential treatment on this Forum, how do you explain how ya'll missed my birthday (January 15, a national holiday and MLK day to boot), my milestone 1000th post back in November, and my anniversaries (POT in November and wedding last June). Wife was sadly disappointed with the last one since she considers our anniversry a milestone towards sainthood and salvation. JimSP agrees.
Brent......congrats to Susan on the victory on the job front. It's really positive news for the rest of us. Give her our best wishes. After two posts on this, you have opened a pandora's box. You left off the FLA boys, Roy in Texas, Northwoods and mersienne in Wisconsin and Minnesota (?), KeithW, and Bob Nelson (major omision). I'll save a few more so we can get some more mileage on this one. When I disappeared for a month, I got a phone call from the Chief. Wonder where he got my number? Wife didn't understand why a guy of his stature would be calling a knucklehead like me. When I showed her the POT posts too, she commented I must owe all these guys some money. Finally, how can your job and personal life be more important than us guyz who keep you on your toes day in and day out and provide such insightful guidance, albeit wrong more often than not? You need to post more.
Fife.......life saving reminder re Valentine's Day. You probably did it so you wouldn't have to respond to a mess of assualt and domestic disturbances.
Laz.....beer in the boat. No room for life jackets. Emties used as flotation devices in case of an emergency, and the carbonation in the belly keeps us afloat. Backing up a 260 pound snowblower without using the reverse gears? My aching rotator cuffs.
GregM......[angel] prayers and preparation. Go for it! We're all pulling for you. Don't forget to ask toward the end of the interview if they have any concerns with your good fit with the job so you can address them. Interviewers tend to make judgements and don't probe when they have a concern, even if it is unwarranted.
Patrick.....I'm a car nut and a former Nascar junkie who gave up when they basically made all the cars vanilla and took 426, 427, and 428 off the hoods. Can't bring myself to miss Daytona though.
Chief.......no fooling, leafblowers actually do work well for snow removal, provided they are the gas ones with the higher output velocity. Especially good for decks, stairs, and around doorways that need to be down to the nub clean. Only works for "keeping up" with the powder, not the heavier stuff. Glad all turned out well with Lucy. Berg doesn't have to worry about birth control. My dog hits 4 months in a week, and I suspect that humping can't be too far off.
Buckeye.......thanks for the vote of confidence re the condition of my brain. Printed that one out for the wife who doesn't quite buy into your complimentary observation, though. Seems my forgetfulness centers around her "honey do" list. Go figure.
MikeC......I think I observed once that your trips to the Y were for eye exercises as well as a cardio and weight workout. You have none of us fooled. BTW, Even though Lucas may schedule little time with the family during pit stops at home, trust me when I say they really do miss us and find grounding in the visit.
RT......you never mentioned how your back was doing? Or how you hurt it in the first place.
Rich......did you give up on the Harley? You may have posted on it, but if you recall I was MIA for a month or so. Enjoyed the trains pics from your road trip North over the Holidays. Maybe train layouts are making a commercial comeback in the big box stores. Others may have an observation or two from their neck of the woods. Around here, no such luck.
Chuck.....sounds like you are back to full and equal strength and are catching up on lost train time.
Don, RaySP, and DougDG......hope you shocked the pools yesterday. I'd hate for my speedo's colors to get washed out taking a dip at halftime.
We'll have to send out the POT search party for Wes. Since his knee healed up he seems to have taken a hike.
Later Gang. PITTSBURGH 27-13. TERRIBLE TOWEL IN LAUNDRY.
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
RockIsland52you guys got me to wondering what the record low temps are for your neck of the woods. I've survived -28 in Rhinelander Wisconsin and fully understand why Northwoods loves his AF trains. If he went out in that, his thingy would freeze and fall off. Man, it's brutal North of Wausau in the Winter
Jack,
Now how in the world would my thingy possibly freeze and fall off?
So far this winter the lowest temperature outside on my deck has been -21. The wind chills have been much more brutal than that. My focus on Flyer trains is indeed my therapy and a way of staying inside where its nice and warm on bitter winter days and cool on overheated summer days.
I happened to be in Rhinelander on Friday night for a basketball game and the temps were dipping below 0 again, even the Hodag had changed from his normal green to blue. Which reminds me of the time some years ago when there was a contest to come up with a new state slogan for Minnesota instead of the traditional "Land of 10,000 Lakes". Minnesota is the homeland of many Scandinavians and cold winters. The winning entry for the contest was: Minnesota - Land of Blond Hair and Blue Ears. Growing up here in the upper Midwest just makes you tough.

Morning all. Whoops, it's afternoon. Wow, pages to go through since last night. Sunny and warm - by that I mean 30s. Nice to see it busy - I read all posts but have a hard time remembering everything I want to comment upon. Good news about SusieQ's job and prayin' for Greg's interview! Got a big cold now. Still managed through leading video at church. My daughter's 'big game' party is turning in one featuring my bride's friends instead. LOL.
Jason - That the toy and doll house dealers had taken over was a common complaint about the Greenburg shows. I live near the Akron-Canton airport, about 45 (+/-) minutes drive to Medina.
Brent - Good news. Best of luck to the Mrs. with her new job.
HI GYZ,
Got up to 47 here in Millersburg, Pa. Just got done with a nice easy 4 mile run. So watch out FIFE and CHUCK your legs and feet might be a hurtin later. Felt great to run outside. First time in a while, beats running on treadmill. But its a workout. Now made room for buffet and beer.
OLD TIMER, very sorry bout the slip up on the exter M, what was I thinken? Musta been that OL MILWAUKEE, ruining my brain? LOL.
Greg M - Medina show was ok not much "O" .There was a few tables with standard O Atlas and Lionel, $20.00 a car. Will post pics later of what I added. How far are you from Medina?
RT - Happy Birthday!
Jason
B&O = Best & Only
Patrick, I have felt the same way sometimes but I really am a comparative newbie. I had been a lurker for a long time but have only been posting this time for a few months. I don't expect these guys to drop dead just because I showed up on "their forum". I have found that over time a lot of the folks on here have responded to my post and offered support when I had problems. I am probably as guilty as the next guy for not responding to post. I seem to just read the Coffee Pot section most of the time. Re your post, I don't get the RFD channel on my TV and I'm not a race car fan so I don't feel I could contribute much on that subject but try me on Eastern North Carolina Bar-B-Que or some subject like that and you will have found a friend. Keep posting sooner or later some of us will wake up. Speaking for myself, I am not deliberately trying to ignore anyone.
