 Good night Chief.

We had a beautiful, but cold day today.  It did melt some of the remaining ice even thought it stayed well below freezing all day.  The ice sliding off of the Museum high roof onto the library roof sounded like thunder.  Picked up some supplies at the LHS for the grandsons HO layout on the way home.

Good night all.  Had a lazy day.  Now up tomorrow AM early to make an 8 AM meeting in another town.  Another pretty day is on for tomorrow.  Need to lime the pond.  See some mosy stuff forming around the edges.  OH, I'm sorry.  The Yanks can't see their pond edges due to the ICE.  I saw weather forecast for the next 7 days.  Looks like Ohizo may get some warming before being hit again.  Ioway will stay COLD.  We could have some snow flurries by Tuesday afternoon.  Guess I had better get my snow blower going. Whistling  OH, you do blow snow with a leaf blower, don't you? Laugh  Did get to scan my new Trains magazine tonight.  Had Southern fried chicken, collards and mashed potaotes with gravy for dinner.  Watched Criminal Minds while eating popcorn.

Off to bed. Zzz

Doug, I  voted three times for the Chief, I'd be more than happy to do the same for you. No payoff in confederate money anymore though. I had a heck of a time getting Habbeb at the party store to take it.

WELCOME TO RT'S BAKERY

Evening all hows it going. Got my Nascar Train set in this afternoon I still have the Jimmie Johnson boxcar coming and the Dale earnhardt jr Train set (after I pay for the jr it will come its on hold right now lol) But  that completes it as stated above.

Not to much happening feeling better this evening I was justa little stiff and sore this am so just took it easy today and soaked a couple of times. Feel fine now.

53 now was up to 58 today but dropping to 37 tonight not to bad I guess.

Wife already coming up with ways to use money from tax return's I agree acually its how much I over paid. when I was single I had it figured out about right to where I got back less than $5.00 each year from about 22 to 29 but then I got married and never really figured out how many I should claim durning the year to get close like that again.

Well will talk to you all later

RT, Your  stragedy on the income tax situation is 100% right on!  If you're getting a small refund, or paying a small amount, then you're doing it correctly. Good Job!!!

Well, time for bed.  Spent a good bit of tonight playing "Lego Batman" with son while wife had daughter at ballet.  Also made some dinner and then wife wanted me to download a bunch of songs for the iPods.  You can share files, but it is tedious as you have to copy to disk, then upload from disk.

In a fair amount of pain tonight as my rib is hurting.  You can palpate the difference between sides.  Broken one sticks out about 1/2" from the rest.

Seems I won another auction tonight for a NYC pacemaker boxcar.  If I mention it to bride...."looks like a lot of the others you have".  Oh well, bet none of you have heard that one.  On Facebook, I have come across a number of folks I have not seen in well over 20 years.  These computers really make the world a lot smaller.

Have a Blessed night.

Doug....I bet the voters and the media really look at your candidates for governor more throughly at the next election, which is a good thing.

What a beautiful day in Buckeyeland!

Had a great adventure today.  Road was blocked on the way home so I turned off to a side road that headed straight uphill.  Lo and behold there is a tiny little car spinning its wheels and can not get up the hill.  Next I passed a new Buick, again spinning its wheels and sliding backwards.  SUV can climb hills in the snow.  What a great day!

Train News....Trains Magazine has a great article about AMTRAK and how Congress tries to run it.

Glad to see that Chuck has power.  The ice in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky have brought down the power lines.   With global cooling on its way, you Sutherners better learn how to run a snowmobile.  Laugh

Gas is at $1.67 just down the street.

Did you hear about the Michigan basketball player giving the elbow to the Ohio State player last night?  Blue is in bad shape again.

Hi GYZ,

Did a paint job on the ribbon around new layout and added clear acrylic plastic so trains won't fall off.  Also went for the customary FRIDAY EVE  WING and YUENGs, down at WAYNEs.

JACK, Snowblower is a 9.9 HP Briggs and Straton engine they say it 250 cc.  Handwarmers are in handle, just a coil and all to activation is just a switch.  I didn't use it for it was too warm at 28.

Stay Frosty,

Thanks to RT, dougdagroump, cnw1995 and Dennis. Thumbs Up

I found the unpainted box cars. The problem was I didn't know they were called just "undercoated"Dunce. I found the Atlas O reefer for $60, and the Weaver box car for $45. RT thanks for the Weaver stock number. The Weaver box car is perfect, has flat areas for the decals. If the Weaver cars are a little light, we have plenty of rocks in this part of Virginia.Big Smile Finding scratched cars and redoing them is a good idea, since they need painted any way.

Patrick, Atlas O has undecorated boxcars  / reefers for 3R for about $64 - bodies only for $15.  see http://atlaso.com

The only thing with the Weaver cars is they tend to be a little light and you may have to add some weight. Even so they are pretty decent cars.

Good afternoon Y'all!  Well, I was right, was a long case.  Over now and I will be heading to the house in just a few.  Kind of tired.

Fife, No, they didn't have any jeeps.  I have one I had purchased there before, but none this time.  I did pick up two different German tanks.  I figure I can put them on some flat cars like they were war contraband heading for a museum.  At Ft. Benning, we have a National Infantry Museum that has quite an assortment of armament.

Rock, With regard to our earlier discussion, we are on the same page.  Too many lawyers muck up the works.  If they had a law of Looser Pays, you would see a lot less lawsuits and lower rates.  One of our Neuro guys had to leave because he was paying over $400,000.00 for malpractice insurance.  He had to arrange to work at a hospital as an employee so that the hospital's insurance would cover him.  We are now like that.

Regarding snow days.  When I was growing up in NJ, the only time school would be called off is if more than 50% of the teachers were not able to make it in.  Often, they would double up the classes if a particular teacher was not there.

As for teachers whining, yeah, they do it almost as much as doctors!

Well, it is relatively nice out.  Rained last night, but I think it is in the 70s now.  Having looked out the window, I don't see any snow yet.....Oh, that is right, we never get snow.

Rock, I would try either Weaver or Atlas for undecorated cars.  It may be cheaper to find a old scratched up box car and just remove decals and repaint.

A first for me - A pure train question post.

Where can I find O gage box cars 40' or less unpainted or painted with no numbers or lettering. I want to customize them with home made decals.

Thanks,

Patrick, I let them take it out as the interest rates are so low, no big deal. and I just give it back when summer taxes are due. a revolving door.

Mornin' Folks.

For the "Super Sunday Grub" I usually try to fit a "munchies/food menu" around the teams playing. My first thought was Primanti Bros style sandwiches but wasn't sure about having to shampoo the entire house after the game. Clown Settling on a pot of chili with all the goodies so they can have chili  or nachos or chili dogs/burgers, maybe some Buffalo Shrimp and veggie appetizers then finish it off with pie & ice cream. Dinner

Came in for lunch. Installed a wall mount TV and VCR in the train bldg this morning. Ran the Mark 1 Video "Roarin' Runbys, Super Slips and Start-Ups" while running trains on the layout. Really adds to the running experience.

sir james - I have a pension as well, but no taxes are taken out, so I always owe money. Even before retirement, I had the least amount possible deducted. No sense letting the Gov't use my money interest free. You are right - most people feel if they get money back they aren't paying taxes.

Afternoon!

Doug:  Can't wait!  Is that magazine we talked about in too?

Jack et al:  Everyone's welcome to tardis on over Sunday!  We always have more than enough!  If everyone brought their train to run we'd all be standing around looking at each other.  There wouldn't be any space to run on my layout.  It's that small.

Wes:  John Deere Car hooked up and pulled out this am, and is heading out on the south bound.  Check your e-mail for the waybill.

I remember Grand Pop saying he went to school 5 miles each way, up hill, 15 ' snow drifts to 20' and holes in his shoes (kinda reminded me of Washinton in Valley Forge) and was happy to get to his one room school house for a free education, cold and wet.  Just to age my self, I'm 53 and heard this in the very early 70's!!

Therapy was NOT my idea, Kurt.  The wife sorta imposed it on us.  That's ok, buy me more time for an apartment or townhome.  either way, gives me more time.  It's all good.  God is working his magic and in time all will be revealed (and I'm not that religeous, just know a higher power helps!)

Still raining, though it has slowed down a bit.  up to 59 and it was 68 at 0500!!

See ya in a bit!
