Gee, the sun hasn't come up today.  It is all black and dreary outside.   People are huddling around fires built in 55 gal cans trying to keep warm.  Two skinny dogs are fighting over a bone.  Sirens are wailing.  Woe is me, the dreaded Buckeye misery has returned to Buckeyeland.   The world is coming to an end!!!

I think I will go run trains.

Good Morning All,

It is freezing rain, sleet, snow all at the same time in SE Indiana.  If it had been my turn to drive today, I would not be at work, but we made it in.  This is the kind of weather that makes people want to live in Indiana.....not!  Went to the Y early last night, hoping to have the rest of the evening to myself.  Instead, watched "Antiques Roadshow" with wife and played euchre with her, Lucas and his best friend.  Maybe tonight I will have some time to run trains.  Lucas goes back to school on Sunday.  Work is what I do to pay for IRL races, soccer games, and trains (to answer the Chief's question).  Condolences to Buckeye and other Ohiozo people.  Relaxing ride in the Tardis last night.  I had the regular fare on the dining car last night.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Morning all. Listened to the Big Game last evening whilst working on re-wiring parts of the layout. Too bad for OSU as they played well and all that'll be remembered is another Big 10 loss. Grey and dark with lake-effect snow here in the Loop. Streetlights still on. Got my first class tonight so a long day. Figured out one block but ran out of lock-ons to tackle another section. Sure was nice to work on it anyway as bride was at a meeting. Beats watching TV. I'm still an evangelist though for AT&T's U-verse TV. Works well and is inexpensive. Hope Roy's back is better and Dennis' med procedure goes well.  Don, that's called 'bouncing the eyes away' - amazing the physiological changes that occur when the red light goes on.

Charlie, do a search on the CTT forum for the TMCC boom car/crane....a great posting on its use and abilities was done by Marty E.

So, has MTH ever made a train set of a winning college team?  Sorry Buckeye

Gotta run, another case to do.  waiting on my test results, we shall see.

MichRR714
SJ-  Last time you were over at WB's do you recall if they have any of the TMCC cranes with boom cars?  Can't decide if I want to put in a 282 or one of the TMCC Cranes on the layout...I think the TMCC Crane would be more fun as you can move it about the layout.

MichRR714 - I have both 282 and the TMCC Crane and Boom car on my layout. The 282 TMCC gantry crane is setup to be run via the CAB-1/2 as well as the control box that comes with the unit. The kids love to play with this as they can pickup the scrap metal that lays in the yard and put it in the gondolas that sit in the yard. Eventually when I get the yard tracks powered I'll be able to move the trains out for them! The Crane and Boom car I reserve for my enjoyment and that of older visitors... Just have to find a place on the layout to 'park' them...

Actually, MTH released the set the after OSU won the MNC... it would seem the set has been a curse because they haven't won a Bowl game since! - Sorry Buckeye, Wes, et al.

Good afternoon!

Up to 78 again.  Got my CTT after being away for 2 weeks and scanned through it.  Looks good!

Not much going on besides work, had to get to the HS basketball game, as the princess was dancing.  Fortunatly, she was done at half time (Girls Varsity game) and we were home by 9:30.  I brought my ear plugs and CTT to amuse me.  Of course, I put it down when it was time for her dance.

In as far as this college sport thing goes, I USUALLY am out on it.  Don't really care.  HOWEVER, in defence of my NORHTERN brothers in OHZIO... I will come with a little help.

It seems that there was this game in the PAPA JOHNS BOWL (of all things) and the Scarlet Knights of RUTGERS UNIVERSITY (on the banks of the Raritan River) kicked some wolfpack butt.  North Carolina State or some such school.  SO, mark one for the Yankee Team from New Jersey!

At with that I'll say adieu for now...and remind y'all that the Devils invade Raleigh tonight to face the Hurricanes.
Should be a good game.

Til later!

Rich

GOOD AFTERNOON

Charlie first so I don't forget.  I am going to WBs tomorrow an will see what he has in stock. My experience  has been the 282 crane has far more play value for young ones. the crane and boom car are delicate and need an adult hand or serious repairs will be in order.

Its overcast this morning in the 20s, lite snow expected for the next day and a half. No biggie. I should be coming home from WBs tomorrow with the new Lionel GG1 set. I would have passed on it but I wanted the cars and the price was  to good for me to say no. A weakness of mine. I will check in tonite...TTFN..S.J.

Happy New Year!..?

I see there is a new Coffee Pot started, well I guess everybody filled the old one.

I have been busy with work and relatives over the Holidays.

My Sony TV is acting like it partied on New Year's Eve and not me, the standby light keeps coming on. The set is a 42 inch Sony Trinitron and if it don't work right I will have to pay to have it hauled away. So far I got two quotes for removal; $60.00 and $108.00, was told by the lower priced guy maybe the trash guys will haul it for free as with major appliances like washers and dryers. Now I have to buy a switch for hooking up more than one video input as I had a DVD and a DVR hooked. Also had to buy a new remote for the older set that I had put in place of the Sony.  The same day my TV died the paper shredder died too, maybe I got a voltage surge that I don't know about from the incoming power line.

DirecTV went up instead of going down and I am thinking about going with either AT&T for cable service or putting up an antenna.

Set a small layout of Fastrac and now I need a more powerful transformer, only had a small 40 watt transformer sitting around that I wasn't using. Think I need a CW-80 or a Z1000. The transformer does well until I add a third passenger car, then the motorized unit slows down at full throttle.

Ice in St. Louis this morning, but it's mostly gone now.  School was called off, so wife had to stay home.  I had some important work to do - high profile.  Hope it was right!  If not, I'm sure I'll be finding out about it soon Tongue  No problem getting to work, although it did take a little longer than usual.  But, a sister totaled her car!  She was fine thanks to airbag Thumbs Up

Good afternoon all, Well, the saga continues on the telephone problem.  I spent another wasted hour on hold on the telephone this morning with AT&T and after over a week of this, we're back to square one.  AT&T claims they no longer own my phone and claim that Verizon has it now.  Verizon claims they no longer own my phone and have turned it back over to AT&T,  Did I miss something here?  Bottom line is that an AT&T tech person will call me back in three to five days and will either hook up both of my lines with them or give me new phone numbers.  I still have one phone line that is working but nobody knows who owns it.  Maybe I should wait until I get a bill.  That ought to tell them something.

Don, glad you got through your radio experience.  That sounds like a tough assignment.

Home from the lake house.  90% of the new wiring done.  Worked hard.  Raining and chilly.  Funny, 15 degrees warmer here than at the lake.  Lake outdoor termometer read 30.  Now ice and just rain.  More instore.  TIRED!!!  Hope I can stay awake for Extreme Trains.  Sending a bowl of warm soup to my buddy Buckeye. Whistling  Chat later.

Wow Brutus glad sis is Okay thou. Not to much going on here. I'm going to order the 2 electro couplers from Lionel for my NYC GP-9 (Tmcc) 1996 model didn't come with them. Of coarse after looking mine isn't the easy hook-up but it don't look that hard either so I will try but you need to remember this one is electrically challenged lol.

found out we can get a free HO train set with all senery already done just no train cars or engines but the real problem ( but were working on it at work) is that its in FL. and were in S.C. I guess were about 5 hours away. Its at the VA called Bay Pines its basiclly right were FL has it bend in it I guess its called the Big bend area.

Talk to you all later

Oh Brent did you remember to try and get ahold of Jack?

good evening.  Had to come back to the hospital to take care of a little problem.  All fixed up, but now we have another case to do tomorrow.  While here, I did the log in and register password, etc for the Georgia Medical Board.  Amazing, now we can renew our medical license on line.  I will have to do that the end of this month.  Have to do the same thing for Tennessee as I have a license for that state too.  Seems all they want is my money, and ask if you have attended the necessary meetings.  They also ask if you are behind on child support and if you have been convicted of drug abuse....but that is about it.

Brutus, sorry to hear of the ice up that way.  No ice, in fact, when I came in tonight, I wore shorts and a tee shirt!  Hope the weather gets warm up that way soon.

On the train front, when I got home tonight, found a box with some train videos in it.  Several that I have not heard of and one on touring China on steam engines.  Lastly, the guy who will be starting next month was in town.  He has some video from Rhodesia and South Africa of the Garretts in action.  One part has the morning start up with a ton of these giants building steam and heading out one by one.  He is transfering it to DVD for me.  I am also working on getting a brass builder's plate through his connections...way cool!

Have a good night,

Dennis

RT, I am in SW Georgia.  If it looks relatively close by, perhaps I can pick it up and drive it up to either Augusta or perhaps TN.  That would save you a good bit of the ride.  Of course it depends on the size of the layout, but would be happy to help...especially if it is for the Vets.  Who knows, I have a good bit of HO items I could through in.

Good evening,  A North Carolina box car rolled in today, very nice.  Will have to see how it looks on the layout.

We are getting some of the nasty weather now, hope it doesn't get to bad.  If so no museum trip for me tomorrow.

Good Evening

Well Charlie browm, I mean Buckeye I feel your pain but they did not play well in the second half and the penalties, they could have won on a good day. Yesterday wasn't it.

32 degrees and a trace of snow, thats whats expected here till thursday. I ran  one train today so no pileups. And looking forward to the new set. Just browsed the wah, wah, wah, forum and boy they just never let up do they. Got to have something to whine about all the time. New or not out yet they just go at it.

Brutus, banilla and root beer is ready so fire up the thingy...S.J.

Sorry, Fife, one of the many things I left in Jersey...Banged Head

While we're on the subject...I made a pretty good haul on Christmas Eve.. Went to Rite Aid for the big 75% off sale and scored a School, Toy Shop, Christmas house and a Clear Church with trees lit internally with LEDs and music.  the whole lot was $25!!  Just have to ship it all back here.

I have to get the CPI car shipped tomorrow, sorry I'm late, with work and just getting back here, I just a wee bit behind the curve.

I have some SPF pictures, just have to get them uploaded.   And that Greenburg show was marvelous!  Nice to go to a really big train show.  There is one SUnday, but I have to de-Christmas the house and repair the older one's car.  SOOOO, looks like no train show this week.  You guys have it good as far as shows go.  Last 2 shows here I was done in an hour.  The NJ show I was there almost 3 hours and if Mom wanted to stay a little longer, I might have been there all day!

Got some nice stuff (not much) and that's being shipped.

Almost time of ol' Matt Bown and X-treme TrainZ!

Yep, sister is a-okay, so it's allright, nothing money and insurance can't replace!  Now the roads have refrozen and there is a huge accident on I55 near Arnold (home)....  They shut down the interstate so they could land a helicopter.  You would think that it wouldn't be this bad, we have had a lot worse storms than this in the past?  I guess people think the warmer weather today cleared the roads and now it's "black ice" Sad  Supposed to have flurries for tomorrow, sure hope the kids have school!

Tardis is ready and scope shows some beacons, so might have to head out now.  TTFN!

Morning all!

Sorry I missed the Tardis ride last night.  Fell asleep with 4-yo watching Goofy Movie at 8:30.  Woke up at 9:00 and shuffled them and me off to bed.

Brutus:  Glad your sister is ok!

Awaiting DirectTV visit for HD today....I hope....Found a charge yesterday for a PPV movie we didn't watch...Customer service said it was from 2007, as they just couldn't communicate with box until now.  Nothing changed on our part.  I told them that was crazy, and they agreed to a $5 credit.

Almost forgot...Bride put her foot down, and restricted me to 2-weekends a month for Youth Group sound at Church, as I miss going to both adult services.  I told them I'd be there for band days, and will have someone else do recorded music.  I spoke to the Worship Team Leader, Sunday am, and he aked me to get into the Sound rotation for the main Auditorium.  Flattered, I respectfully declined, until I was able to get the Youth Group a stable sound team.
