Dennis, when you do put up that tramp, I recommend securing it to the ground - I've had our frame up for years without problems...Our neighbor - who sneered at my shenanigans - looping the frame with plastic-covered steel cabling and spiking it into the ground - using cork-screw-like spikes - had his tramp blown apart against his house in a windstorm. It may not look like you need to do so because its so heavy... I also re-secure the 'cage' netting every so often so it doesn't 'give' a lot when a youngster hits it.

Not to much happening around here. Just taking it easy I went ahead and ordered the cheaper couplings from My freind that owns a hobby shop and I already down loaded the instructions ( both sets ) one is more detailed in the inslation description but both are basicly the same and one covers more engines than just the one I have. Will keep you all posted as I go thru the instalation of the electro-couplers to my Engine. Might even finally install a battery in it seeing it has never had one as the piece that snaps onto the nine volt battery is still taped up and to the bracket as it would come from lionel. Well the engine is 13 years old and still runs great.
Talk to you all later

Good Evening from cold Southern Ohio,
Roads coming in to work tonight were dry but the weather report is calling for some nasty stuff tomorrow night, freezing rain, snow then rain again. If it comes like that it will be interesting indeed driving home in the morning. I received the Feb. CTT today, and looks pretty good.
I am refurbishing a 714 log car now. The flatcar part was in really good shape but the dump bed was banged up pretty good. I removed the bed by trimming the flanged end of a rod that acts like a hinge pin. After repainting I’ll re-assemble. Here is the question. How could I replicate the hinge pin, or re-press the existing hinge pin to flare to hold it in place, or any other suggestions? Maybe I should make this a separate post, to tap a more numerous audience.
Doug & Dennis – I’ve used those corkscrew things to secure the awning on my camper and it is amazing what they will hold. I think I saw them at Lowes marketed as dog stake outs.
Roger – Congrats on the picture in the CTT.
I am going to pick up some extra fastrack from the LHS for the PE, I feel myself slipping. . . .
May God bless
Jim
Sturgeon-Phish Good Evening from cold Southern Ohio, May God bless Jim
Nothing in Ohizo is Southern. Not even the fried chicken.
Back from my meeting. I did NOT fit in too well. Got recognized and applauded. As I was telling "Ioway" on the way home, I'm just too conservative. When I go places driving, love to call the gang and chat. Makes the trip go by faster and keeps me awake [main reason is good company]. Well, popcorn time after I push the garbage cart and the recycle cart to the street. Pam's asleep on the couch as Lucy is not here jumping from floor to couch to chairs and back again. Mom is a little whinnie about her being at the vet's. Later.

Doug, thanks for the advice. I had planned on using some heavy duty steaks to hold it down. I will have to see what is available at the local HD/Lowes.
Chief, Kim told me about the message. Still here at the hospital....into 16 hours already for the day. Glad you survived the meeting.
Caught a few moments of the Florida game....did y'all see that hit the Florida guy did in the opening set? Stuck the receiver right in the numbers. Hope that is telling that it will be a tough, good game regardless who wins.
Well, I hope to head home soon. Already missed the kids bed time, so I am a little bummed.

Good Evening All
Its 28 degrees and same storm that is headed for Phish is going to reach us also. Their guess is 4 to 6 inchs of snow by saturday evening.
I gave the new train a few more laps today, seems all is well. I saw and heard only one live GG1 and am wondering how close the new horn comes to sounding like the real one. My memory is faded since it was some time ago but it seems right. Have a good evening and a safe tomorrow. Banilla is waiting....S.J.

Got in from the office late tonight. Seems like I do that too often these days. No trains today.
SJ- How are you liking that GG1 ?
Anyone from the pot going to the Train Festival in Owosso, MI this summer? Just wondered.

Howdy guys - supposed to be warm here tomorrow and then back in the freezer? Today was okay, they decided not to make any new teams for now at least so no chance at a management job (this might be a message from a Higher Power?), but that's okay - I still get to go to work every day right? Plus, change is scary! Working OT Saturday, 6 hours. Might have to take off on the 20th to go to the orchestra with my daughter's class on a field trip - I went last year with my son and it was great. This year, they are doing selections from Harry Potter and stuff, cool! Good to know Jack is okay! RT - sounds like a good deal on those couplers, have to give me all the details! Tardis is stocked up with chips and also dark chocolate M&Ms with or without peanuts, just need some banilla, rootbeer, and anything else we might want to bring along? Got some Old Mills and Sam Adams in the fridge by the pool I think?
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Beacon is on, Brutus. Instead of my bringing the rabbit ear antenna to hang out the door, let's swing by the stadium to watch the game.
Charlie the train is doing fine, come by and check it out.
Brutus how about we take the thingy to see how the game ends and then run back and place a bet. Then we could visit Mrs Peel.
Evenin' Fellas.Just got in from work... yes work... well not really we had a get your butt out the door 'fore we kick it out the door for our Controller. Will be different not seeing him in meetings telling us how poorly we are doing, then turn around and tell us we're making money for the investors a near 20% ROI! Good guy... helped grow the company over 5 fold in 5 years... and we're still growing.Doug - lockons in the mail - should be on your doorstep when you get home Monday - we expect to see pictures of the expansion now that you can power it! Chief - got the info from UPS... should be here MondayDon't think I'll go into the trainroom tonight... 3 beers and 2 glasses of wine... Glad I didn't see any of MD's finest on the roads...
88 - that's why you need to drive a TARDIS, or let SJ drive it? Okay guys, stadium then Mrs. Peel! I'm not much for betting, but you guys can do what you want - just don't alter the time-space continuum
Evenin' All.
A little bit of a foot massage earlier, wasn't much here but Don and SPman probably felt it a bit stronger. A 5.0 in San Berdoo.
The munchkin is staying with Grandma & Grandpa tonite, means pizza for supper and waffles or pancakes for breakfast, but not for me since I gotta go to the museum in the morning.
Chief, Wish you could get the dems straightened out a bunch, still registered as one but haven't been able to vote for any in a long time.
Whoa, got my gas/electric bill for last month, the really cold, rainy & yucky period, would you believe 700% of the previous month.
Got B-B-Q and baked beans for lunch tomorrow, .

Morning all!
Lee: I had no idea you could get a TV for $400. Difficult to call.
SturgeonPhish: Would love a copy! you should have my e-mail and/or address from the CPI.
Sir James: Great news about the train....Now don't get everyone riled up about the sound of the horn...
Working on scenery layout, and keep getting snagged. I sunk some track into the roadbed, and I'm not sure I like it. Trying to decide on leaving the back open or creating an underground passenger station with a cityscape above. Hhhhhhmmmmm...I'll try some sketches.....

Maybe I should poke my head out from under the covers to see if the world really did end on Monday night.

Good morning all,
It is cold but clear in SE Indiana today. At least the roads were dry on the drive in. Several things to mention. Wednesday night I think I showed my car pool person what a train "nut" I am. Leaving I-74 heading towards Greensburg, I saw the "Honda" train leaving the yard. That was the first time I had seen actual movement on those tracks in quite some time. It was really cool and my reaction may or may not have made an impression (good or bad) upon her. Her husband does have some old Lionels and so she is somewhat familar with the situation. Last night I finished the building I was working on. While the sides and windows pose "issues" from time to time, the real pain is in putting the roof pieces on. Much "blue smoke" erupted in the process (worse than an ALCO diesel!). Did the usual routine at the YMCA. Looked at the new MTH-Lionel tinplate website and read the latest TCA Quarterly. I had the usual fare on the dining car at breakfast. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
It's OK Buckeye to come out, you haven't missed a thing this week. More importantly, THE Ohio State Marching Band was clearly superior to the texas walking band, good grief. I guess texas musicians can't walk more than 8 steps and have to stop and figure out their next move.
The sun still comes up in the east and sets in the west, come on out and enjoy a perfectly fine winter day in Buckeye Land, life is good.
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
dougdagrump Chief, Wish you could get the dems straightened out a bunch, still registered as one but haven't been able to vote for any in a long time.
Morning all. Sun is out!!!!!!!! A lot cooler. Off to County meeting [Enviromental Services Comm.]. I connected the new Hawking Antenna to the Legacy base. Seems to do great. In the back room with me between the base and the remote, did get a "few red flashes" but not "held" ones. 90% of the time, none at all. In the past, red light would come on and not go out until I was right over the command base. Now the antenna is sitting on the main layout and not up high. I have heard of some mounting it to the ceiling. Would have to purchase an extension cable [Radio Shack says they do not have the connectors???] to allow that. The cable that came with the antenna is about 18" to 2' long. Will test more later. Got to go.
Morning all. Cold and snowy today - feel sorry for anyone driving or flying. Hope it's quiet as I'm tired. Have to track down some teachers on behalf of the middle boy. I should know by now that when everything's quiet, that's not a good sign, instead of the reverse. LOL.Thank you, Brent!
Good Morning All
Doug's snow has not reached here yet, in fact the sun is shining. Forcast is for 4 to 6 inch's.
Instead of our usual friday out supper we have decided it will be lunch today just in case. Still too early for any breaking news so I will just move along. Have a safe Friday....S.J.
Kurt I think it's ok to ask about the horn here,Wouldn't dare put that on the other place. Just would like to know from someone who would have heard them often.
HI GYZ,
25 and windy here today. Watched the game last nite and fell asleep in recliner. Ran trains last nite for 45 minutes NO PILE UPs.
Suppose to get big snow tomorrw? 6-9 inches? Gonna be snow blowing.
STAY FROSTY,
laz57
Not much on the agenda for today. We do have a potential case, but have to wait on Cardiologist to go over a few things. We have a "Frontier Days" here at Chehaw Park, which is a nice size park that Jim Fowler (who is from here) runs the zoo. They have a lot of Indian exhibits as this area is rich in tribal history. Also have some older settler type demonstrations, etc.
I was not able to get back to the game last night. I was happy with the results, but glad it sounds like it was a good game and that both teams should be proud of their performances. Jon, now if The Ohio State team could just field the band, they would be good....just kidding. I know how riled up everyone gets.
Doug, yeah, I am registered Republican, but will not vote for anyone who is not conservative. I am more of a constitutionalist...it should be in the framework of the founders, and no, it is not a "living document", read that, we can make it anything we want attitude. At this point, I have not seen a candidate I really like since Reagan. Just my opinion, so no flames.
Hope it is a quiet weekend as have plenty to get to. Layout needs work. Also, have to work on the home computer as laptop on wireless is acting up. Will not get online, even though it says it is "connected". For awhile, wife could get on with her log in, but not me....Internet Explorer would lock up and not respond.
God Bless,Dennis
I too am waiting on the snow. Sounds likes its going to be a long event. Then its gets bitter cold next week. I think this weekend I am going to paint some of the hardshell and do some scenic work on the layout.
SJ- When I get my 2056 passenger set from Lionel we'll have to run your GG1 set with it and take some pics for the site. Who knows maybe I might even get my PM Berk at some point. I do think it would be cool to run some of the Conventional Classics together.....
Hope everyone is safe and warm...
Isn't it fun how toy-trains brings us all together - with grits as glue I guess - given my crazed-liberal politics. May I be the first one to wish Dr. Dennis many happy felicitations and returns of the day in anticipation of the national celebration of his birth this Sunday...
In the office and back from meeting. That is always one of the good meetings I have to attend. Things get done to help with the County [solid waste, waste water, animal control, restaurant inspections, water quality and sedimentation control]. Now to go home as Lucy is back. When I left, she was NOT bouncing off the furiture and was being calm. She also had teeth pulled while sedated. Seems she had extra teeth. The assoc. vet had told Pam they were OK. The main vet [we have trusted for years] said "come out". Chat later.
Chief, glad Lucy is doing well. She will be up and at em soon.
Doug, thanks. Probably will be a subdued celebration as I am still on call. Perhaps we will run some trains!
A couple of things I have been wanting to post:
DVRed a program on South Dakota the other day...most of the program was on their railroad herritage. Was on RFD-TV, so I am sure you will see it again.
Also caught a Trains and Locomotives program on Indiana rail. Lots of steam and early diesel with some nostalgic video of some NMRA events with classic steam.
Lastly, DIY has been starting to show the "Workin' On The Railroad" program again. Right now, they are the same episodes from last year, but if we show enough support and ask that they include more "O guage" shows, we may get a good program, we can all enjoy.
Have a blessed weekend,Dennis
Evenin' boys. Clear and 36 (feels like 27) here in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Question - If Buckeye emerges and see his shadow, will it mean 6 more weeks of winter...?
88 - Be careful. Basic rule of thumb: each beverage contains approx .02 alcohol. Average body disapates .02 alcohol per hour. Hence, 3 drinks in one after hour will leave you with about .04. Kinda makes you wonder about the doodles who can blow a .24.....whoa.
